Mercury Weather for Positive User Reviews

Promising with new Apple data, good devsThis is looking to be a nice replacement for the dear departed Weatherline, plus an iPad version too (and Mac soon)! I’d love to see the widgets get a more readable design with less small text and less harsh dark mode. Update: widgets have been improved just how I wanted! Request: Add the daily weather description that’s on the iPad version to the iPhone app.Version: 1.6

Widgets dont work with latest versionUpdated to the latest and the widgets dont work. It is a blank screen..Version: 2.1

PotentialLove the line design for reading weather, super quick and easy way to get a feel for the upcoming conditions. For a new app there’s lots of potential - though definitely a few things that hopefully will be added soon: radar, humidity widget for the Lock Screen being two. The only bug I’ve found so far is the current temp for the Apple Watch widget showing in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit..Version: 1.1.3

Great app!The only thing I would change is the design of the widget — the white background (when dark mode is not on) is a little jarring against my dark wallpaper. Making it translucent or something would look better..Version: 1.3

PotentialUpdate: The main reason I subscribed to this app was because it used open weather as it’s data source which was more accurate than the stock apple weather app. The app has been updated to use apple weather so it has the same temperature and forecast as the stock weather app which is inaccurate. I would love to have the option to pick which service the app uses..Version: 1.7

Nice App - Needs More FeaturesI puchased a lifetime sub for this software. I'm using it regularly on all my devices. I still need the Apple default app for weather notifcations and radar, though. So I'm using both. Would appreciate notificaitons for preciptation or bad weather. All in all, a great start and I appreciate the parity across all my devices. They're clearly Mac users..Version: 2.1.15

Almost thereReally nice simplistic app, with some nice features. I would like to see a large widget so that I can use it in my stack. Currently only the small and medium widgets are available. Also, would like to be able to select dark mode for the interface and widgets...that would make it a 5 star rating and my go to weather app..Version: 1.9.8

Still a wonderful weather app. Must have for Vision ProWorks well, even easier to keep weather onscreen, because of the extra screen real estate ..Version: 1.0.3

Great App!I love this app! It’s UI is stunning and it’s very functional. I look forward to buying a lifetime subscription after a few months. One thing I think it’s missing besides radar and I know the devs already are on this is UV forecast data, I love that it has the data for the moment but it would be cool to see the predicted UV via the hourly view. Also y’all should add air quality.Version: 1.1.3

Amazing startLove this app. Only missing radar, but still willing to give out 5 stars. Subscribed and hoping radar is coming soon!!!.Version: 1.9.16

Accurate forcastThis is now the new 'Dark Sky'. It gives accurate local forcasts that 'DarkSky' App used to give until Apple Bought it and scrapped it..Version: 2.1

Beautiful and under ratedI’m not sure how this app snuck under everyone’s notice. It is beautiful and just appeared out of no where with everything I want. Shouldn’t everyone be talking about it? I gave it a few days using the free version and it basically had everything I need. I decided to subscribe for a year with the IAP just in hope it keeps this dev afloat..Version: 1.1

Much improvedWidgets and Watch app don’t work at all. Paid the yearly subscription and it’s unusable. Very attractive app - would be nice if it worked. Update - phone widgets now work (why the black background?) - much appreciated. Now how about the watch..Version: 1.1.3

Beautiful appLooks great. Well presented information and a beautiful app overall. Well done..Version: 1.9.12

Great alternative to the other weather appsI’ve been looking at the Apple weather app for years now, and this has a fresh new look. It has a nice blend of freemium and premium features..Version: 1.9.12

ExcellentI can be very picky about my weather apps due to living in a place where the heat will be in triple digits in summer and below freezing in winter, so a solid and reliable weather app is extremely important to me. This one is just what I need and the widgets are simple yet very beautiful and informative. Thank you to all that developed this outstanding app..Version: 1.9.6

Needs AQI to be perfectThis app seems well thought out. It is extremely simple and direct, while still providing most of the information I want while looking at a weather app. The one thing missing is air quality index data. Air quality is increasingly important these days and I can’t fully abandon Apple Weather app without this crucial feature. The top pane of this app features a large current temp display with 3 tappable toggle positions below it (2 at night, since one is UV). These toggles are humidity/dew point, wind/gusts and UV. I really wish I could toggle UV to AQI! This makes sense to have those two share a position, and having one of the items not tappable makes it feel broken. Plus, having the UV position come and go at day/night is more confusing than a simple “-“ there at night. I hope the devs will include AQI data soon. It would be a big feature boost without adding much app complexity..Version: 1.9.16

Great to have on MacGlad to see this app expanding onto the Mac! One critical feature request: option to have the menubar item remain when the app is closed..Version: 1.1

Very BasicThis is a very basic app. No bells or whistles! One thing I would recommend is to add a setting that would allow you to switch the temperature from Fahrenheit to Celsius..Version: 1.9.16

It’s nice but easy fixes can make this betterIngot this app for the widgets and nice UI/UX. I only got about half of what I wanted. So the widgets look great BUT for instance I can’t see the daily highs and lows while displaying the current temp. Simple fixes are all this needs to be great. Just copy the data that’s on the OG weather app but use your format and design and it’ll be great!.Version: 1.9.8

Watch complication stays up to date!Unlike other weather apps the watch complication stays up to date showing the current weather, not something from 10 hours ago..Version: 1.9.4

This is the app for Weather nerdsEven if you use a bunch of weather apps, once you try Mercury weather, this is going to become your go to app. It is fast, beautiful and accurate..Version: 2.1.13

Beautiful and minimalLove the beautiful UI and minimal design. One star knocked because I can’t begin to understand the choice of having the search magnifying glass graphic take up so much space at the top. Move it down into the temp graphic field and free up that space to see more of the UI at the bottom of the screen, please. Or for that matter along with the minimal interface, just leave it off completely as the user can already just tap the city name to bring up the location chooser. Or maybe just pull down to access locations being that the pull down to refresh is nonexistent..Version: 1.9.16

Best weather appSizable and compact while also giving you exactly what you need right here and now as well as a great graphical display of the predictive precipitation.Version: 1.0.5

New “Trip Weather” feature off to a good startI have a road trip starting in a couple days, so decided to try out the new “trip weather” feature. I added in the cities for the first 6 days of the trip. But the “trip view” screen that lists each city just shows the *current* temperature in each of the cities. I would prefer to at least see the high-low temperature for each day in each city, so it could be used as an easy reference when deciding how to pack. I realize I can tap on the transportation icons above each day on the main screen, but the “trip” screen seems like it could be more useful. I realize this is a new feature, so maybe there’s more to come..Version: 2.0.1

Best weather app by farAfter apple bought weather line and shut it down I was very distraught. There just wasn't anything that compared. Then at some point I came across Mercury and it's even better. All is well in the world again..Version: 1.9.9

The Weather App That I Didn't Know That I NeededMercury is a really thoughtful weather app! It beats that native Apple Weather at trip planning. Meaning that you can see what the weather is like in your upcoming trip vs where you are leaving from, all in one view. Very cool. However, I would urge these fine developers to consider radar views of incoming precipitation/storms so that I might full replace the Apple Weather app with this. It makes me feel good to support developers that put this much care in their apps..Version: 2.1.10

BeautifulDecided to try from recommendation of John Gruber, Apple journalist who has great taste in finding great products. Very beautiful and functional app. Subscribed to premium and don’t regret it. Keep up the great work guys!.Version: 1.1.4

Fantastic weather appI love the interface, app and widget. For those of us that miss Weatherline it’s a breath of fresh air. My previous review bemoaned that Openweather was a bad source for the forecast. That’s fixed, they’re now using Apple Weather, all is golden. Finally an app with a user friendly, glanceable, easy, information rich interface. I’m a very happy subscriber..Version: 1.5.7

Looks great, needs more/better weather sourcesI like the dynamic source, but my observation and other people's analyses imply that openweather or apple weather (nee dark sky) weren't as accurate as others..Version: 1.0.1

Brilliant and simple weather appI was thrilled when I’ve discovered the app and bought the lifetime subscription straight away. Now the app is great, interface is very clean and simple but very insightful, being in my opinion a successful mixture between Dark Sky and Weather Line. As for negative points, it seems that the widgets are a bit slow on refresh and one thing that bothers me is the lack of customisation on square widgets opposite to rectangle ones where you can choose from different backgrounds and icon sets. Please fix this or offer us the same options on all widgets..Version: 2.1.14

UI is nice but…UI is nice, but I’d love to get notifications about rain and a map view. A version for mac would be good as well. I subscribed and will keep using waiting for improvements..Version: 1.8.4

Simple, attractive, opinionatedGreat presentation, and I'm particularly digging the dearth of settings. No need to screw around trying to choose from a dozen themes or layouts. Mercury is opinionated -- its creators have decided how it should look, and they've knocked it out of the park..Version: 1.1.3

Useful and StraightforwardThe app is simple, pretty, and straightforward. It shows me what I need to know in a pleasant way and has become my first stop to check weather..Version: 1.7.6

Simple yet elegantI love the design and the overall style of this app. Simple yet elegant. The dev definitely gets 5 stars for overall design and performance. Glad to subscribe and I look forward to future updates..Version: 1.9.12

GreatI paid the lifetime premium price of £30 just for the watch complications but unfortunately those don’t actually work - just shows “demo” the whole time. Other than that, it’s quite nice. Edit: rebooted the watch and it started working Another edit: since the latest update, the watch app doesn’t work at all..Version: 1.5.2

Useful and promising! The simple and elegant presentation is already good! I’d love to see a slightly more information-dense UI on Apple Watch, especially with the complications, because the screen sizes have been getting larger since Series 4. It’s great to be able to see the next few hours of weather at a glance, and it would be even better to have options for current/high/low temperatures, time of sunset, etc. :).Version: 1.5.6

So close to perfectIt’s been a long weather app odyssey after IBM borked weather underground. I’ve bed looking for an app that presented the weather in a graph for the day. This fits the bill in all aspects except for predicted precipitation. If there was a rain line overlay in the graph this app would be worth the ongoing cost..Version: 1.9.16

Very great appVery great app👍👍👍.Version: 1.1.5

Great appI like that I can have this app displayed as widgets showing current weather, hourly weather and 7 day forecast. With but one glance available across multiple devices I can get all the information I need. Weather alerts are detailed and prominently displayed if needed and I love the fact I can have numerous other locations available, again with just a glance. The price and the lack of radar maps reduced it to a 4 star rating imo, but this is one solid weather app. Despite the price and it being without maps, this app was still good enough for me to do the switch and become my full primary weather app. Try it..Version: 2.1.8

New user…bought lifetime out of delight and hopeThis app is just so much nicer to look at than Apple weather! I miss dark sky and don’t need ALL their details, but I would love to see a radar map (and really needy - I’d REALLY love it to have the little cones that show the direction storms are heading and estimate time with the lines…) as someone who spends a lot of time outside for work it’s great to look at a map and say “well, looks like we have at least 20 minutes till this clears. Let’s go kill some time” or “looks like this is a whole line of pop up storms, let’s call it for today” On a similar note when I’m planning things I’ll say “weather looks good Wednesday” and most people say “oh? My app says rain” yes the little icon shows rain, and it will rain…at 10:30pm. Being able to get that view further out is super helpful. All in all, for now I’ll take the every day comfort of this app and look at Apple weather when I need future details or radar. I’ll just keep crossing my fingers and hoping for a little bit more down the road 🤞🤞.Version: 1.9.1

Great weather app from great developersI love the look & feel of this weather app: easy on the eye app, simple design that provides exactly what I need when it comes to weather information (a rain radar map is all that’s missing). I also like the app’s privacy: it is one of those rare beasts that truly respect the user and don’t collect their data. At all. Yet another great app from a pair of developers that truly care about their users..Version: 1.1.6

Radar NeededHaving a radar would be helpful so users can keep track of severe weather conditions any day at any time..Version: 2.1

Replaced Apple’s Weather app!I deleted Apple’s Weather app and exclusively use Mercury. The way the weather is presented makes it super easy to know the forecast at a glance. And with the awesome widgets on my Lock Screen and my Home Screen, I’m always a glance away from all the weather details I need. If you’re considering Mercury, you should totally go for it! It’s beautifully designed and maintained, and you’ll love the experience!.Version: 1.9.12

Simple and ExcellentSuper sharp design that looks great and functions well. I don’t know why but I feel like I can get the info I need much faster than in other apps..Version: 2.1.12

Excellent, clean, clear!Excellent design, clear presentation of data that turns it into information. About the only thing that I could say really feels “missing“ to me (and that’s a stretch) is that you can only see either real temperature or feels-like temperature; if they added a tap toggle (like they have a humidity/dewpoint and wind/gusts) to give us actual/feels-like, that’d be seriously awesome..Version: 1.9.15

Options for weather data sourceIt’d be great to offer other options besides OpenWeather. For my location, I’d prefer Weather Channel or Weather Underground, with Foreca/Vaisala in last place..Version: 1.1.4

Nice clean layout, glanceable forecastI like the clean layout and graph-like display of the forecast. In combination with other favorite weather apps Mercury provides an intuitive display and nice widget options. The new trip planning forecast is a nice addition—though it would be helpful if the temp display on the main city list showed high & low for the day so you could understand generally what the day was like to help with planning for what to expect. Monthly average temperature graph (premium feature) is very useful. It’s unfortunate that the app lacks radar. I think the design could be improved if some of the elements were made more compact, for example, the search/globe icon in the top right takes up a whole line of vertical space in the top of the app which essentially leaves a blank bar at the top and pushes the forecast at the bottom below the fold (for standard sized iPhones). This, along with other elements, could be tightened up a good deal to make the app more information rich without having to scroll down. I also think the hourly graph should display the day when it crosses over midnight..Version: 2.0.1

Minimal and beautifulLove the colours, design and feel of the app and the fun and minimal interface. only thing that needs improvement is the uv index. i live australia which usually has very high uv. but for example today it showed zero uv in the morning, or max 6 when it was 11.2..Version: 1.6.1

Nice app, could be my go to, except…Simple, easy to find info, seems reasonably accurate. No frills, just the most important info. App works well on my 6th gen iPad, but I’m disappointed that my iPhone 7+ iOS, 15.7.8, isn’t adequate to install this app. Everything else I load works with my older iOS. Not buying a new phone just to get one app. ☹️.Version: 1.9.16

Great but needs moreThe interactive widget is amazing. The simplicity and clean design is amazing. I want more though. I want pollen data so bad. I want detail wording for the daily forecast. Radar. Trying to wait patiently but been waiting a long time..Version: 2.1.15
