✓ Beware: Battery KillerI’ve been using this app for over 10 years. Love it. Or at least, I used to. In the past, I would leave it on all night and it would drain about 20-30% of the battery. That includes about 7 different iPhone and 5 different iPads over a decade. Now, with the new iPad Pro (11 inch), running the latest iOS, the battery drains 100% in about 6 hours. (WiFi and Bluetooth off, all other apps closed, screen off) Then I wake up, bc the sound stops. I battled Apple for a while about this, they finally replaced my iPad, and the same thing happens on the new iPad. For some reason, an iPad Pro (12.9 inch) does not have this problem. Battery drains about 20% in 12 hours, with all the background apps on, WiFi and Bluetooth on. I’ve read online about other people having this exact same issue, so it must be one of two things: Something inherently wrong with the new ipads (or certain models. Seems the Air has the same issue) Or, something inherently wrong with a recent update of the app. I tried to contact the developers about this, but got no reply. I simply cannot use this app (I refuse to plug in my iPad at night when it is at 98% battery simply to use a white noise app that can’t last 7 hours.).Version: 7.8.5
✓ I only bought it so I could concentrate while typing.During the latest update, it seems as though they changed the White Noise Lite app to no longer allow you to listen to it while outside the app. Multitasking with that app, whether it’s typing, looking up something online, or whatever, is basically no longer possible. It’s only a dollar to purchase, but it still greatly irritates me that they decided to do this. I bought the full version because of this, and because I find it highly difficult to concentrate on reading or writing while other people are talking nearby, which happens quite a lot. ✓ Please fix recent bugI’ve used and enjoyed this every fall/winter for years. (I don’t need it in warmer mints when we’re running the our loud A/Cs at night). I have the paid version. This year when I returned to the app I noticed a bug. After about 6 hours of playing the volume will suddenly increase drastically (waking me up). Once this happens, despite my adjusting the volume back down or pausing/restarting the sound, the problem will repeat every 15 min or so. By bedtime it seems to have reset itself so I can get another 6 hours in without trouble. Unfortunately, I’m usually trying to sleep for 7 hours. So, this has become a big problem. I’m going to have to find something else to use until I see an update. Disappointing!!.Version: 7.9.1

✓ Does the job but a little buggyDecent selection of sounds and the ability to make your own mixes is nice, but, it’s quite buggy with frequent freezes at startup and updates have a nasty habit of deleting favourites and mixes. Needs work on the UI and stability.Version: 7.4.5

✓ Nice idea but need to remove artefactsI have had this app for quite a while now. It is okay as a background app, but I find it essentially useless for meditation. This is because of artefacts in the audio loop. For example, on the ocean waves track, there is a very faint beep sound, like the sound of an incoming email. Once you hear it, and hear it repeating, you can't stop hearing it - and meditation goes out the window. The same is found on another of my favourites, brown noise - it sounds like a partial siren, very faint, endlessly repeating in the loop. These are not obvious, but once heard you can't not hear them. If these problems were fixed, I would give this five stars..Version: 5.0.3

✓ Old and lots of bugsThis app still looks like it’s 14 years old like something from 2009. I have had this app now for over 5 years. It used to work great but now a lot of things are broken and the layout is a total mess. Another negative is that the developer has forced its users for no reason at all to download a separate app after you have this one, just to be able to add in extra sounds to this app. This function could have easily been added into this app but it wasn’t and now I have to have 2 apps taking up space on my phone for this 1 thing I want to achieve. The UI is in desperate need of updating: the bottom menu bar is really useless as one of the 5 available buttons is, ‘download’, which kicks you out of the app and sends you to the other app. I don’t want this on my menu bar. You would think there would be a button on the menu bar called ‘sounds’ that allows you to view a full list of sounds to play, but there isn’t. Why not?? Instead I have to open a side menu to find that function when it should be on the fixed bottom menu. I also confirmed the following bug: -Changing the speed and variance when editing sound in a mix no longer changes anything and the sound for speed and variance remains exactly the same. Unless the developer fixes the issues and gives a better and more updated UI more in line with 2023 and iOS17, I would recommend avoiding this app. It has good sounds but the app experience is just very old..Version: 8.0.17

Sound failed to play.”Any time I switch to this app, after any other app on my iPhone might have generated a sound, I get a dialog box “Sound failed to play” and I have to press ok. ✓ Doesn’t always workI’ve had this app for a while and always use it as my alarm. Lately it’s not working on my ipad the same as on my iPhone. Several times throughout the night the sound feature would just stop and it would shut off and I would have to open the app and start it all over again. It’s updated so I don’t what’s wrong. It worked one night then went right back to not working. Same exact app on iPhone and works there, except when I snooze it, the white noise sound doesn’t continue. Several times on my phone the music alarm would start but there was no way to turn it off. I would have to go into the music app just to stop it. Very frustrating..Version: 7.3
✓ Always missing sounds.I have the paid version and initially found it to be pretty good . Now when I preview a sound or mix in market and try to download it, half of the sounds are missing. It's now hit or miss on how many are there. Really frustrating. I can hear the previews but it's a mystery why a few download but most come up with a warning "missing sounds". I wouldn't recommend this. If it was free I might put up with the glitches but if you guys are going to take my money it would be nice if it actually worked..Version: 7.6.1
✓ Issue with IPhoneI really love this app, the sounds are amazing and you have a huge variety. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because I’ve been experiencing an issue with the app. When I click on the app it comes up and acts like it’s trying to open, then poof the app kicks out and closes the app. I have to click on the app several times to get it to open. Once opened the app freezes and will not open . I’m not sure about what’s going on here, if it’s an iOS issue or a app issue but hopefully it’s fixed soon as I paid for this app..Version: 7.9.1
✓ I LOVE this sketchy appI have been using this app since at least 2013 and I’ve loved it. Sometime last in the last year or two the free app I had been using all the time would quit if I went out of the app. I hated that! So I paid the upgraded subscription - it felt totally justified after my very happy 7 years using it for free! - price just to avoid the app quitting when I went in and out of it. But it’s a freak’n hit or miss situation - totally frustrating! - that most of the time the app will continue it’s sound even if I’m not “in the app” but way too often it will turn off if I go out of the app. I’m giving an app I LOVE 2 stars because it’s ridiculous that there’s no consistency that can be counted on in regards to how I want this app to perform. If I want the white noise airplane sound on to drown out my loud sister so I can scroll Twitter *peacefully* lol, then I want it on. I don’t want it to go off just because I’m using a different app - ESPECIALLY since 90% of the time the app acts “normally! - I want to be able to drown out my sister regardless of going from the White Noise app to another! Membership ($’s) should have at least that privilege! UPDATE: I updated the app and now it seems to be working like I above complained it didn’t! ✓ Great app except...This is a good app, but I have one major issue which is totally ruining my use of it. I turn my phone to silent sometimes when sleeping to prevent someone ringing or smsing me and waking me in the night. whitenoise plays fine when the phone is on silent but if you receive a msg or call whitenoise will cut off to silent pause until the call is finished then cut back on again once the call finished ringing. This effectively wakes you up instantly regardless that you have your phone on silent! There is no setting to prevent this occurring! Please install an option to prevent this anomaly for full stars!.Version: 0
✓ Great for sleepingLove this app for sleeping. Can't sleep without it. Cuts out the different noises that may wake u through the night. Use to have a fan running at night while I slept. 365 days but in the winter it makes it too cold but still had to use the fan. I've been using this app for 5 years. The clock has different colors so if u want it to light the room or keep it dark u can & still use the clock. You can put 2 together or just pick anyone that would work for u. I do recommend it!! Update: I have used this app probably 10 years now but on the last few updates to the app I’ve not been happy with it. If you don’t put it in clock mode the phone sleep mode kicks in. So when my cats wake it up in the middle of the night & I want to see what time it is the phone is asleep but the sound is still playing. It defeats the whole purpose of having it for a clock. ✓ Good but uses a lot of batteryThis is a decent app with lots of sounds. However when the white noise is playing it clearly uses a lot of processing power as the phone gets warm and the battery goes down very fast. Would be good if the devs could make it more efficient..Version: 7.9.3
✓ Drains batteryI’ve used this app happily for years when I sleep at night with my phone plugged in and charging always to 100% overnight. But in the last 4 months I noticed my phone wouldn’t charge past 60% overnight. I thought it was my phone that was the issue and went through weeks of troubleshooting with no fix - only to find out it was the white noise app that was doing it. Switched to another sleep app and my phone went back to charging to 100% and working perfectly. Very disappointed in whatever they decided to change in the app recently and can no longer recommend it. Also should mention it can sometimes crash and will wake me up in the middle of the night - another recent development that never used to happen..Version: 8.0.15
✓ UNRELIABLE.DONE. UNRELIABLE. MUSIC “PLAYS” BUT WITH NO VOLUME SO FORGET ABOUT WAKING UP TO IT! TIRED OF WAKING UP LATE BECAUSE THE MUSIC IS AT VOLUME LEVEL 0. UPDATE: I don’t know what they did on the most recent update, but since then my music alarms do not go past half volume! I do not have fade set, and I learned a LONG time ago to check my music volume (since it is separate from the sounds volume) before setting the alarm. I play a little random music, make sure the volume is all of the way up, and then set the alarm. While a PITA, at least that fixed the issue of the alarm going off with no volume but now it just sits at half volume! NOT GOOD! For now I’ll keep with it and trying but after years of using the app and lots of downloaded sounds, I may end up changing after all to something that wakes me up instead of me waking up before it. PREVIOUS: Let me delete stock sounds! That is probably my only complaint. I’m good as long as I remember to check the volume of my music before going to bed. Quite a few times the sound was all of the way down so no alarm. But it is really annoying to have to keep sounds I will never use like the drier, fan, clock, etc. they are just annoying to me- please pick one sample like waves to have to keep and let us delete the others!.Version: 7.9.1

✓ App is completely inaccessible when trying to record a your own sound using VoiceOver.The app is brilliant aside from one really annoying problem! When using VoiceOver to read the screen, you cannot record your own sounds as it is completely inaccessible so is therefore useless to a blind person. It’s even more infuriating being as I’ve bought the app. And if a user is paying for the premium features it should be accessible to all and not just sighted people,.Version: 7.9.3

✓ Ad network or analytics is too thirstyThis app does the thing it says it does. It does a bit more as well. When I picked up my phone after a night of using this app it was HOT. My battery didn’t make it to 100% charge overnight because this app was consuming so much power. I checked battery stats in settings to confirm it. Checking further, it talks a lot with google’s servers during the night. I want white noise, not an advertising/tracking collaborator. ✓ Why ads in paid version??I use this app every day and night in my daughters room. Up until recently it has been great, although I’ve noticed from around a month or so ago ads have come bellowing through the app. Not ideal in a sleeping babies room. ✓ Worth a try, but needs a tweak or twoMy doctor has prescribed a med with interrupted sleep as a side effect. I downloaded White Noise to help “lullaby” me back to sleep in the middle of the night. It plays through my Bluetooth enabled hearing aids. It helps some, certainly better than silence. White noise offers a considerable selection of satisfactory sounds and the option of creating a playlist to vary them. I found it worth encouraging the developer with a paid upgrade of less than a dollar. It’s worth that. The app does have it’s issues: The option menus are not very intuitive, and they are confusing There are a few “tips” but no manual or help function The upgrade wipes all the playlist, mix creations, and manually recorded sounds. It leaves the old Lite app in place with a different colored icon. It’s just odd and awkward. I don’t resent spending the dollar, but I can’t see that it buys anything really The volume of the sounds vary a lot perceptually from one another. It’s just about impossible to create a playlist that does not have jarring volume changes. The app really needs the ability to adjust the volume of playlist entries individually. There is a shuffle function that reorders the playlist but no capacity for creating a specific desired order by moving items up or down manually.Version: 7.7.9
