MathU RPN Calc for Positive User Reviews

Long a FavoriteI enjoyed MathU for years on Palm OS. It was the first app I sought to buy on iPhone, but at first I passed when it was available only by annual subscription. I snapped it up immediately upon seeing the $9.99 introductory offer. MathU is better than immitation HPs, because it is always optimized for its platform. I am glad to see the shift in pricing and am pleased to continue supporting this developer. Thank you for bringing MathU to iPhone!.Version: 0

Best RPN CalculatorI've been using this calculator on my Palm Pilot sense it came out. Best one around. I'm hoping they come out with MathUPro like they had for Palm. I really miss it. Used it all the time. Never has bugs and when you need help they respond quickly. Pro please!!!.Version: 2.2.2

Great AppThis app is worth every penny if you're an HP calculator fan. I use it daily as my only calculator. Please add programmability for extra money. I'd buy it..Version: 0

Great calculatorBeen using for many years. Has surpassed my HP calculator for most purposes, though the H-P works great. RPN is the only way to go for engineering calculations. Learn it and you’ll never touch an arithmetic calculator again j.Version: 3.2.2

Updated review: A great programmer's calculatorThere were definitely some usabilty issues with the prior version of mathu rpn in terms of doing hex math. I'm very happy to report that the current version fixes ALL of the issues, and adds additional bitwise operations. Dr. Clay is very responsive to feedback, and he understands the math behind a calculator. (Don't laugh, I have tried several other calculators on my iPhone and not all of them generate correct results in all cases.) Anyway I highly recommend MathU RPN - it is a very good general purpose calculator..Version: 0

Thousands CommasLove this app. Now I don't have to carry my 12c around as well. Maybe I just can't figure this out, but does anyone know how to set preferences to display commas to show thousands separated? Having this feature, would sure be helpful to me..Version: 0

SuperbI’ve used RPN since my first HP calculator 50 years ago. This app is a superb duplication of the original and looks just like the original keyboard. Perfect for all my scientific needs..Version: 3.2.2

Best RPN calculatorThis is the best RPN calculator I've found. Have been using it for ages. There's an issue with the last update on my iPad mini: I'm not able to access the settings anymore. The dialog will pop up, but tapping settings (or Quick Reference) won't do anything. A very personal preference: turn off display of the financial registers or replace it with first 5 regular registers. I don't use the financial functions that frequently so it's just distracting..Version: 3.0.0

Almost PerfectOK, I've had (have) MathU Pro on my Palm Tungsten & my mobile PC phone. So I had to get it for my iPod Touch. For most calculations it works as it does on the other 2 platforms (which is perfect), but there are a couple of things that could improve it: 1) Add programability. 2) Make it so that ABCDEF entry while in Hex mode is not a 'g' function. I'm thinking that if I'm doing hexadecimal calculations that I am not doing financial work; which are the unshifted functions of the same "keys.". 3) Be able to review registers. I've used an RPN calculator since my first HP11 24 years ago (Actually I still have it and it still works), and have trouble with arithmetic entry anymore..Version: 0

Excellent app!!!Awesome financial calculator, congrats!!.Version: 0

Excellent!!!!Does everything you'd expect from a 15C generation calculator. Well worth the money..Version: 0

I love this calculator. For those of us that used RPN calculators from HP all through high school and college, this is a brilliant and familiar implementation of that model..Version: 3.0.1

Great but needs an updateThis is a great RPN calculator, I've used it for several years. However, it needs an update/fix - ever since I0S7 shipped you can not use it during a phone call - data input doesn't work..Version: 2.2.2

Absolutely a "Must get" applicationIf you use your Iphone as a calculator at all, even for the basic calculations, this is an awesome application. Obviously, its real benefit comes into play with some of the more complex calculations, but its ease of use and full range of useful features makes this one of the more useful apps I've downloaded yet. Another very nice, and almost genius aspect of this calculator is the portrait interpretation of the HP calculator. A lot of others offer the typical landscape orientation, but lets face it, the majority of the time you are holding your Iphone in a vertical orientation so its nice to have this powerful calculator available in that orientation. (It does also have the landscape orientation of the HP calculator if you rotate your Iphone, so that is like the icing on the cake!) :-) Well worth the price..Version: 0

Just Buy It!I waited patiently for this App after using it on a Palm Pilot, many years ago. The wait was worth it! If you used a HP calculator in the past, this App is a no brainer..... Absolutely awesome!.Version: 0

Awesome calculator!I use this calculator on a daily basis and absolutely love it. I have been a fan of HP calculators since the 80’s and glad I found this app a number of years ago..Version: 3.2.2

As good as it getsAs a long-time user of the Palm version of MathU I was very happy to see it become available for my phone. I no longer need to carry my Palm (R.I.P.). After a very short "break-in" period, and learning that [G][G] gave me access to preferences such as the number of digits, I am using this version as readily as the Palm version. The iPhone version is elegant, easy to use and versatile. This app could serve as a standard for iPhone programs. Bravo!.Version: 0

Good but not greatThe actual program is an excellent comprehensive RPN calculator. The interface needs work. It would be helpful if the f and g functions highlighted when shifted. The hex/dec/bin should be more consistant as to placement and shift. Better yet the layout should shift depending on mode. One annoyance, if you have a 6% annual interest rate the monthly rate is not 6%/12. It is (12th root of 1.06) - 1..Version: 0

Best PRN CalculatorI only bought the G3 because this program was coming. The Palm version is great. I hope this one will be upgraded to match the Palm version in short order..Version: 0

Nice Calculator, Well Worth the PriceThis calc is highly functional, and a daily asset. I own the 12C calcs and also a older HP scientific RPN calc and this is a nice companion. The only thing that I hope will be included in the future is Date calculations like on the 12C and also built in help instead of having to go to the company's website. If the built in help cannot or will not be done then Creative Creek should make the reference manual availble in PDF format so that Iphone Air Share user can FTP the manual to there devices. As it stand right now the reference is only available in HTML format which is not efficient for portable devices..Version: 0

Great app, great support.I have been using MathU pro on a Palm for over a decade. When they made it programable I put my HP 41c in storage. When they make the iPhone app programable I'll probably retire my Tungsten T3. This is a great app by a great company. They have never disappointed me..Version: 0

OutstandingI've tried many calculator apps and nothing comes close to this in terms of both appearance and function. Just buy it and stop looking..Version: 2.2.2

Best RPN calcThe best RPN calculator app. I looked at all of them. Creative makes great software, and has been around for years..Version: 0

Excellent in all respects! This a truly great application for the iPhone! I've used this previously in the Palm OS, and am really happy that it has been ported to the iPhone. If you like using an RPN calculator, this is definitely the best..Version: 0

Calculator of choice! After trying several other options over the years, MathU RPN clearly wins as my calculator of choice. As a design engineer, I use this tool nearly every day... several times. Version 2.0 improvements make hex and binary math quick and easy. Thank you for considering the engineer and programmer! The financial functions also work very well and are user friendly. If all of my apps could be this polished, it would be a better world!.Version: 0

The only 12c emulator to getLike many others providing feedback, I first used Creative Creek's 12c calculator on my old Palm Pilot (palm V). This company has always impressed me both with their high quality customer service and their extraordinary professional attention to the mathematics and science of performing high precision calculations on different devices. When I got my iPhone, the first app I looked for was this one. Go Creative Creek!.Version: 2.2.2

Have had this calculator App for a while...best one I've come acrossFor RPN fans, this calculator has all the needed functions. Excellent display and minimal mis-hits with the touchscreen. Well Done..Version: 0

Best RPN calculator so far, but could be better.I had been using PCalc, but I now use MathU exclusively. I greatly prefer MathU's fast and clean response to key strokes, which makes PCalc seem clunky and lethargic in comparison. Also MathU comes up instantly when launched, compared to PCalc's annoying delay. Furthermore, MathU has a much richer function set, and yet has only the essentials. In particular MathU goes well beyond PCalc with the necessary statistical, financial, and programmer operations. However MathU could use improvements in several areas. First and foremost, MathU needs a second display line for the Y register. (I'm fine if that's a user option.) There is a huge amount of wasted display space at the bottom in both the portrait and landscape modes. Just move those keys down and put in a second display line! Second, I would like some unit conversions and maybe some constants. This is an area where PCalc shines (though the PCalc interface to use them leaves something to be desired). I would at least like some basic English-Metric conversions. Third, the iPhone interface is not being used to even a fraction of its potential. The keyboard does not have to be so static. How about having the f or g functions magnified and highlighted when f or g is pressed? A swipe down on the display could show the whole stack, and a tap could restore the keyboard. Swipes on the keyboard up, down, right, or left could navigate a small two-dimensional array of alternate keyboard layouts (2x2 or maybe 3x3, but no more). E.g. a math one with reciprocal, square root, y^x, etc. on the top row, and another with the hex digits on the top row for programmer mode, and another with unit conversions and access to physical constants. How about swiping left or right on the display undoing or redoing operations (like PCalc)? That sort of thing. Fourth, I wouldn't mind a selectable mode with a more modern HP variable size stack with the swap, drop, and roll operations. Lastly, whatever happened to RootM from the Palm (by the same author)? I really liked that keyboard layout, and complex number operations. Maybe not for everybody, but I sure found that useful. Some have asked for programmability. That would be low priority for me. If I need to program something, I'm probably not using the calculator. Overall I highly recommend MathU for anyone looking for an RPN calculator on their iPhone. I hope that the author continues to refine it for this platform. * Reviewer qualifications: I have been using HP RPN calculators or HP look-and-feel-alikes for about 35 years. I have my own little HP calculator museum. Since the author so prominently notes this in the application description, I also have a Ph.D., though in my case from a better school, Caltech. ;-).Version: 0

Nice Implementation of RPN CalculatorI was a longtime user of RootM on my old Palm Pilot, and I really like this latest port of MathU to the iPhone. Makes me feel like I'm back in the early 1980's with my HP-15c !.Version: 0

This is the RPN Calculator to GetAn old favorite, nay necessity, from my Palm days, I'm very happy to have this essential application for my iPod Touch. It works just like an old school HP Calculator, circa the HP-11 and 12 series, with the added bonus of an extended stack and scientific as well as financial functions. The original for the Palm was programable and there were several program suites that you can add on -- I hope these feature are forthcoming. However, given the excellent execution of this program, it's ease of use, and Creative Creek's very fine customer service, I do not hesitate giving this app 5 stars. Well done!.Version: 0

Mechanical Engineer, PEAwsome caclulator (better interface than 42 and faster), but to be the best needs conversions and constants. With this enhancement, will surpass the other calcs out there!.Version: 0

Great workhorse of a calculatorI have used this RPN calculator for many years and what can I say other than it works. The iPad version has some bugs with the settings and help that need to be resolved..Version: 3.0.0

Near-perfectThis works perfectly all the time, and as I read the reviews I'm sure glad I didn't spend 4 times as much for one of the HP ones. Real shame about the new price though. I guess they figured if HP could get $20 for their buggy version, ....Version: 0

Love this calculator! This is my daily go-to calculator. It's also my absolute favorite HP emulator! It does everything I need from a calculator. Great combination of functions! Anyone who used the older vintage HPs will appreciate this calculator. Thank you Dr. Thompson for keeping this app current!.Version: 4.0.0

This is the definitive RPN calculator for the iPhone/iTouchThis the first application I sought when I purchased my iPod Touch! It's finally available, and I didn't hesitate to buy it. I have been a registered user of Clay's MathU Pro for PalmOS for many years and highly recommend this superior calculator. You will not be disappointed!.Version: 0

2 thumbs up !!!Great to have the HP12C on the iPhone ... It works great.Version: 0
