Hill Lists for Positive User Reviews

FantasticI previously had a free app for keeping track of Munro completion and for such a basic requirement it was very poor. I stretched to spending £1.99 on this app and have never looked back! It has taken the minimum requirement of keeping track of Munro completion and added a whole host of great features. You can see a whole manner of graphs showing completion by year and month. There are automatic links into the MWIS forecasts and Walkhighlands routes. It’s easy to transfer data between different devices and you can export it all into excel for further analysis! Fantastic app!.Version: 6.8

Well Done! This is a very useful app as I walk throughout the UK - thanks. I echo the request to log the date a hill is completed but perhaps also another step to allow some personal comments too (only viewable by the user)? In map view it would be handy if other hill names were available when you touch their pin. Also maybe a central database could be useful where comments could be added ('avoid area as it is very marshy', 'some technical ability required', best approach routes etc). I am nitpicking now and am grateful for the app in it's current form - thanks..Version: 0

Exceptional App IMHOI've been using this app now for a few months and it is truly brilliant. I regularly use it when plannng new routes to see where the tops of different 'bagging' lists are. I know some people are opposed to hill bagging in principle but for those people even just as a way of documenting where you've been it is great. The developer is constantly releasing new updates and takes feedback and new ideas onboard when developing new updates. Truly fantastic! I would like to see a few developments in the next update: 1) the ability to add multiple dates of ascent to each hill and individualnotes to each date. 2) I would also like to be able to search for specific regions and see a comprehensive list and map of hills in that area irrespective of which list they appear on. E.g. Searching for the Peak District 3) the possibility of adding 'summit' photos wouldbe very cool aswell.Version: 0

Essential App for hill walkersI have been using this app for years now and it is great. Wouldn’t be without it. All my hill walks are logged using it. I noticed someone else say they found navigation around it tricky and I would agree, and the recent updates have not really clarified this. I would say I always find what I want and get to where I want but it could be easier. For example a simple toggle while viewing say Munros for hills done, hills not done would be great. Also (and I’ve suggested this before and surprised others would not find this useful) it would be just fantastic if I could add who was on the walk (me obviously but mainly who accompanied) so you can easily search for walks you were on with certain individuals. You can put it in a spreadsheet and add this but this rather defeats the purpose. But as I say great app and please keep up the good work!.Version: 6.7.1

Excellent ............ piece of kit for the hillwalker..Version: 5.2

Exemplary support, great functionGraham Haley does a fantastic job with his apps. He delivers regular updates, excellent usage instructions, and clearly cares deeply about delivering a quality app. Hill Lists works well on the small screen iPhone SE and really well on the 12 inch iPad Pro. With integrated links to the mountain weather forecasts and the key hill walking web sites it is an indispensable help for planning the next walking trip. The latest backup and share features are very well done. Highly recommended..Version: 5.0.1

Hill listsGraham Harley has done a great job on this app providing every detail needed. I’m still finding out and learning something new as I did today. If you are looking for a comprehensive list and log for everything in one place then this is the app for you. Don’t take my word for it jump in and appreciate the level of detail that Graham has provided. For me it ticks all the boxes and more..Version: 7.2

Keen developer , app gets updatedGood app and developer is constantly updating unlike other apps that end up being binned due to non compatibility with new iOS. Have been using this for a number of years now and would recommend. Good to see the breakdown in months years etc and nice touch with the animation for hill accents which can be slowed down. Thanks again.Version: 7.1

Top appIt just does what you need, for planning and logging hill walks. The maps, and links with Walkhighlands are particularly good.Version: 6.3.1

Great appThis is a wonderful little app, been using on the iPhone for awhile and now using it on the iPad too, in app backup/restore useful when using 2 devices. Would like to see routes up hills using OS mapping 1:25k instead of google or superimposed over current maps, not sure how feasible this is. The ability to tag photos to app from photo album about hills bagged would be a cool feature..Version: 0

SuperbI use this app to record my Munro bagging adventures and It is superb. It has never crashed or let me down in any way . It is also useful for planning your next outing. You have the ability to filter out the particular hills, mountains you are interested in and in addition you can quickly switch from hills you have climbed to ones still to do. The ability to record notes is a nice touch and I enjoy looking back on climbs to see who accompanied me and what the weather was like etc. If I could add one more thing it would be the option to tag photos to each mountain I have climbed. Apart from this small issue I think this app is perfect and a must for all avid hill walkers and Munro baggers ..Version: 3.3.1

Get this app.Have used this app for quite a while now. Simply put, anyone who climbs any hills then you must have this app if you are interested in recoding them. Simple interface, excellent data and brilliant maps. Once you have used it you will wonder how you managed without it..Version: 5.2

Outstanding AppI recommend this app to everyone - it’s just brilliant. The map facility is so helpful - is there anyway to have a planned option on the map - ie green for done / red for to do and perhaps orange for scheduled ?.Version: 6.3

Just gets better with each update.Always liked this app and use it to record all my hills. Continued development over the years has made this app better and better. I find it is user friendly and so easy to use. Link to google maps makes it even better IMO as it shows up the roads in remote areas much better. Keep up the great work behind the scenes, thank you..Version: 4.2

My favourite app!Easily my most favourite iOS app. Does exactly what you would expect it to..Version: 5.2

Food for the obsessionBrilliant app. Allows for non discriminatory bagging!.Version: 7.4.1

Has got us back up the fellsWhen I found this app we had climbed all the Wainwrights and ticked them off on a wall chart. This app is brilliant though allowing everything about a walk to be recorded and then analysed when planning to go again. We’re walking a Wainwright on every date now, finding new routes and keeping fit. I love it..Version: 6.2

Excellent appVery well put together. The maps have given me a whole new perspective on the Highlands. The trouble is that it does everything so well it makes me think of other features that might be shoehorned in. My wishlist might include downloadable map sections, the ability to export lists in csv to Dropbox and being able to give approximate dates to climbs. Sometimes I know the year, maybe even the month (or season), even if not the day. But don't be misled by my such thoughts. It is already brilliant! Thank you..Version: 3.5

Great AppDoes everything you want in with regards to planning a day out. Only thing missing, is the ability to add who you went up the hill with as structured data. Make no mistake you can record it using the notes field but this is free form and makes searching more difficult when in the pub later discussing which hills you climbed with which friend.Version: 4.3.1

Top quality appI’m using the app to track my progress through The Wainwrights. It does all that I need and a lot more. The developer has clearly put a lot of thought into the app - the various backup options are are good example - and it’s great there’s a proper web site for any guidance you might need. I wish more apps were built to this standard..Version: 7.0.1

Great Hill Bagging appExcellent tool. On our Marilyn completion tour this year in data-less Scotland the app was invaluable. Good portable app which works excellently on the hills without Internet connection allowing for quick reference on hill features and grid references Ok it has usual app limitations, eg. mapping space, but to be able to keep hills ordered and up to date it's great. Be handy if it had a csv file import feature but that's perhaps asking too much. Keep up the good work Graham..Version: 4.6.2

Extremely useful!I use this constantly to log all my peaks. It’s really good. I’d like to see additions of improved stats in the future. Eg. Lists/count of unique peaks per time period..Version: 7.3

Fabulous appFabulous app. Made planning, recording and reviewing so much easier. Wish I’d found it earlier. I recommend it all the time. A must for all baggers..Version: 6.4

Good app - could be improvedFirstly, this is an excellent app with a HUGE amount of information in it. There are room for the following improvements though: 1. The Munros are grouped in numbered sections, to do with the database they are drawn from I think. Could these be re-labelled as their geographical areas such Arrochar Alps, Cairngorms etc. so that they can be easily found and tie in with the guidebooks? 2. There are duplicate names without clarifying areas such as two Ben Vorlichs instead of Ben Vorlich (Loch Lomond) or Ben Vorlich (Loch Earn) - could this be updated? 3. There is a rival app which also features the ability to see an OS map of the mountain. Could this be added in? There is clearly a lot of hard work gone into the app and I am very impressed with the data, however a few usability tweaks would give it 5 stars..Version: 3.5

Great app!A clever app to keep track of hill and mountain conquests! Well worth the time involved in retrospectively entering all my previous ascents. Recently changed my iPhone and was able to immediately copy over all my data from the backup file the app created. Would be even better if the location pins on the map changed colour to indicate that they had been climbed! Look forward to future updates!.Version: 3.4

One of the best appsThis is one of the best apps I have on my Ipod, the NEW update has made it a lot better you can now touch the pins and the name of the hill appears ,With the link via Google maps you can zoom in and see the hill in a photo ,Keep up the good work ,Only 1 thing I'd like is a picture of the UK so I can see the various sections the mountain are broken up into at the start so I can click on a area of brittain I'm interested in, instead of picking a random hill I think is near and going to google to see where it is in the UK Top App.Version: 0

What an excellent appA must have if your a bagger !.Version: 5.2

Another list?Hey graham Amy chance on getting the tumps list on here.Version: 5.2

Fantastic app for hill baggingThis is a great app especially if you are hill bagging. I like the ability to back up as when I got a new phone I thought I had lost everything and would have to re-do all my hills but luckily I could reinstall my latest back up. A couple of points though. 1, Would be nice if it showed total mountains climbed including multiple accents 2, Would be nice if it added other mountains like the Alps 3, It shows total mountains available (5801) but would be good if it showed how many mountains you have selected for example if you selected Welsh Nuttalls and Munroes it would show a total of 473 instead of 5801 All in all a great app and well worth the money (would get 10 stars if it was free!!!).Version: 3.3.1

So close to 5 stars!!!A fantastic little application that would easily get 5 stars if there were pictures of each mountain. Also, the map section could be tweeked by showing the name of the mountain on the pin, you can then see what mountains are close by. Maybe an extra feature could be a link to the camera function to add or take your own pics, or even a link to your website with some pics already to download? Other than these points I can't fault it, excellent work ;).Version: 0

All you could wantThis does everything you could want from an app - allows you to browse the hills on the map, and then log the ones you have climbed turning the tag from red to green so you can see at a glance which you've done. For someone like me who is a bit of a hill anorak, it's hours of fun! It also includes basically every hill on the British mainland and not just the Munro's - just about perfect..Version: 3.4.1

Mixed updateFairly disappointed by the new update. Difficult to navigate. Can’t seem to sort my Wainwrights by number of accents etc etc. A step back from previous updates. Wish it was back how it was ! Edit: All the navigation tools are still there. Just got to look for them properly. Back to a 5* review as the app is superb for tracking Wainwrights etc..Version: 6.0

Outstanding!Up to date lists, easy to use, great functionality. Anyone interested in hills should get this..Version: 7.4.1

Great Outdoors AppThis is a brilliant intuitive little application. The author regular adds updates for latest iOS and bug fixes and some new features. The recent Dropbox syncing between devices is really useful. For me it is a great way of tracking my Wainwright and Munro bagging, but the recent addition of the Trail 100 is also nice. I just hope it is still around in 40 years time when I'm still trying to complete them all!.Version: 4.5

Superb AppOutstanding app. Given me lots of enjoyment over the years. Wish all hills was still an option at the start. Also, it would be great if when the information is given about county tops the actual name of the county was given as well. This would save having to click on the link to the hill bagging website. Thanks..Version: 6.2

Excellent appI've used this app for quite some time now and I love it's features. Every update seems to add something useful. Only one addition I can think of that I would like and that would be a facility to attach photos to a record. However, the absence of that is not enough to mark this app down. It's more intuitive and user friendly that other apps that you have to pay for. Can't say fairer than that..Version: 4.2

Great appUsed this app for a while now and I find it easy to use and a great way of recording ascents, dates, times, notes etc.....Version: 6.3.2

Perfect. The app I've been looking for.I've bought a lot of these aps as I do a lot of hiking and this one is by far the best. It's easy to use, accurate and contains all the summit data you could need. I use it to figure out little pockets of summits I haven't done as it's graphical display is excellent for visualising a route through a couple or more new summits. Perfect. Let's hope it continues to sell well so we keep getting the regular updates we are used to..Version: 5.0

Absolutely Brilliant but Where's the Mac version?I think this is a brilliant app and have been using it for around 12 months. Recent updates have made it better with options for multiple ascents etc. I really can't fault it for the iPhone. I'd just like to see a Mac version on the Mac App store. One where I could add details of the walks length and height climbed but at the moment I'll just stick with my spreadsheet created in numbers. Come on Graham, do a port to Mac - I'd be prepared to buy..Version: 3.2.1

Simply BrilliantSuperbly user-friendly, with a colossal database of hills. I particularly love the map view - logging a climbed hill changes it from red to green. The satisfaction of witnessing the greens increase in number gives me that extra bit of incentive..Version: 5.2

Hill List ReviewFor anyone bagging the Wainwrights or the Munros, this is a must-have App. Fully updated and easy to use..Version: 5.2

Perfect for tracking my progressAbsolutely love this app. An essential part of my digital walking gear. I love looking at all those pins on the map - trying to turn the red ones to green. A vital tool for planning and recording my adventures. Highly recommended!!!.Version: 7.4

Excellent appRegularly updated, and the only app of its kind you will need. A big thank you to the developer for such devotion to your customers..Version: 6.5

Love this AppGreat app for logging Wainwrights..Version: 5.2

Love thisBeen using this for years..Version: 7.4.2

Essential for hill walkersGreat update. Thanks for putting the regional variants on Nuttalls back. I didn’t appreciate the unnecessary down rating of some people for the change to making that UK wide in the last version. But you have listened to the feedback and reverted to previous options. So fair play to you for that. It’s a stunning App. I love it.Version: 6.0

BrilliantThis app has a lot to answer for; I first came across it years ago when I was given the Relatives Hills book, I thought it would be a handy progress recording method. But beware, it has turned me into a list ticker and it could do the same to you. The depths of information contained within the lists and maps slowly and inexorably draws you in until you are snared. One list, two lists, ha! this is just the start, before long, like me, you will become a multi list ticker, trawling the lists to see which hills feature in more than one, thus enabling two ticks instead of just one. The lists can be sorted in several ways, and filtered to show all, climbed and to do, as can the maps. This app has changed my life, and I can’t thank the writers enough..Version: 6.6

BrilliantThis is a wonderfully simple idea that seems absolutely 'made' for incorporation into an App and doesn't try to be more than it is. Some excellent functions and the ability to search locally or within a region allows for both planning and/or real time interrogation. Viewing by map, altitude, alphabetically, done/not done also all nice options. Any chance of providing definitions for each of the hill categories? GPS tracks might also be an option to record the route taken. photos?.Version: 3.5
