✓ The return of a great appThe app has had some problematic and frustrating updates recently which this last update mostly fixes or reverts. Remaining issues are less significant and easy to address so I'll update this review if/when they are. Still has a few obvious features missing (file management, open in other app, full text search ...) which the dev says he plans to implement in 4.0; but not until the 4th quarter '12, at least. A very simple way to rename long/ugly filenames would be useful in the meantime, especially as there is no way to get the file out of CHMate (on device at least) to use another app to do this. Glad to see this app back on track, looking forward to further updates..Version: 3.1.5

✓ Best of a not so good bunchI've been using this app for some time now through various versions. CHM readers for iOS are generally pretty terrible but this is the one I've had the least problems with. Occasionally I'd come across a file I couldn't open but this is far less frequent with newer versions of the app. I think the problem lies more with the dodgy files that we usually try to open than inherent app flaws. Anyway, overall I'm reasonably happy with CHM Reader..Version: 4.1.1

✓ Excellent app, excellent supportThis app works beautifully and smoothly. Had a few issues with opening a few files and sent an inquiry and the service/support was just amazing. Very prompt response and the issue was resolved with the next update, as promised. This is definitely worth the price. One small suggestion would be the feature to have the files organized under customized folders instead of just alphabetically, for easier access?.Version: 3.1.1

✓ Good stable CHM Reader; Needs SearchingGood app that works on both my iPod and iPad. It lets me load multiple CHM files into memory (through either wifi or syncing). All my files read well. I haven't had any problems with stability. I appreciate the ability to highlight and bookmark sections. One very important function that needs to be available to get a 5 star rating is the ability to search through a whole file (or even better across multiple CHM files). Currently you are only able to search either the table of contents or a single entry. I am not able to search the entire CHM file which is a severe limitation..Version: 3.0.1
✓ Great but with flawIt supports reflow and uploading using wifi is very easy. Finally I can enjoy reading programming books on my iPhone. One serious flaw, though, is that touching figures in CHMate makes it not responsive. I wish this problem can be fixed in future updates..Version: 3.0.1

✓ They Fixed it in version 4.1I wrote a previous review reflecting poor performance for 4.0.4, but the new version is fixed and gets back the stars it deserves. It is one of the good chm viewers on the market. Althought there are programs that will run chm and pdf, doc, all file types. This really is a great program with lot of features and adjustments. My only remaining trouble is if they can maintain my notes and highlights as I update to the next vesion when it becomes available, it will be great. Because come to think of it, you read a book or text, highlight reading and update to a nicer updated version and the hightlights are lost. Defeats the purpose of having a file to have read and made extensive notes on that you know will be lost on next update. I recommended to go pro. However still need to improve on the issue mentioned to deserve 5 stars..Version: 4.1

As far as I know - it is the only iOS CHM reader that does this. The reader also allows reasonably quick highlighting, an excellent range of font sizes and layout, and a good contents page. ✓ Great AppNice CHM reader for the iPad, better than the alternatives. However, there are some reasons not to give it 5 stars, that I think could be very much improved: - Lack of a "search in file" option (you can only search inside a page). - Index: There is an index feature. However, in large books with chapters with sub-chapters, there is only one very long index shown, and it is very difficult to move around it. In desktop CHM readers, these chapters are usually expandable, making it easier to find what you are looking for. - Whenever I delete a file, the app crashes..Version: 0
✓ Better than the restI wanted an app to read CHM files which at first seems an easy ask as there are plenty of desktop equivalents. Having said that the main problem seems to be rendering monotype fonts at the correct size. When I came to read a lot of CHM files (from different places of origin) they mostly render the monospace fonts at least 50% smaller than the proportional font, making the text impossible to read. Also I now require something which runs on ipad at full ipad resolution and the choices are only this app. The developer has added a few fixes which were necessary but it renders the text properly and is not limited to iphone resolution only. All things considered an expensive app but at present the only game in town..Version: 0

Only 2 requests: Firstly, please allow hiding of the contents in landscape view as well, this would allow more text space for reading. And Second, please please add features for highlighting, underlining, annotating and drawing on the text. ✓ CHMate make iPhone to be a real eReaderCHMate resolved my biggest problem when I using CHM reader on iPhone. I have tried servial chm readers these days, the biggest common problem for me is that "I cannot see the text very clearly". Although I can make the text more bigger, but at the same time "horizontal scoll bar" will jump out, so I HAVE TO flick the page right to left and left to right again and again... and sometimes I even don't know where I am reading when I get back to the "LEFT". I bought this 5mn after using the free "lite" demo version. VEry thoughtful text formating options, love the font available for monospace type. The TOC navigation is perfect. ✓ Great program and best CHM reader!Tried a myriad of programs to read CHM files and this is by far the best. Can control margins, easy scrolling and movement between chapters is seamless. Also, the night mode is great and more than just changing to a negative of the day version—super easy on the eye. Last and most importantly, when I first got the program there was problem with reading one of my files and the support team was super responsive (within a day response) to my concern and within a day an update was on the app store. I also like the ability to add bookmarks and highlights. My one complaint is that adding highlights is cumbersome; it requires a hold to select text, a click to highlight, then another click to close the note that automatically opens. ✓ I'm so happy to find this app!I really like using my iPad as a reference device and it's been great for PDF files. But I have a large collection of CHM help files from many products that I'd like to have on the iPad as well. This app finally lets me do that. One update I'd really like to see in the future though is to provide a proper tree view of the contents instead of just listing everything at once. When you want something near the end of a CHM file, you can be scrolling for minutes to get there. Having a drill in approach like other apps do it would be great. It would also be nice to be able to turn the table of contents on and off while in landscape mode. Sometimes it's nice to have a nice wide screen..Version: 0
