✓ Just superbI have a "real" GPS-based lap timer, costing far, far more than Harry's Laptimer, but it stays at home when I go to the track these days - Harry's Laptimer has more functionality, is easier to use (especially when you're harnessed in and need a truly automatic lap timer) and is constantly being developed and enhanced. ✓ Amazing App with Equally Good SupportI am indeed an admitted Petrolhead, and as such, was looking for a way to get data displayed on my GoPro videos of track days. I cannot believe there is any app better than this one. The richness of this app continues to surprise me. Tying devices together like an OBD II plug, external GPS, GoPro Hero3 camera, is no easy feat. Granted some of the features are a bit difficult to find, but they are there. I feared when rendering an overlay onto a 2GB GoPro video on my iPhone 5, but the stability of the app is top notch. Great job, Harry! I'm now a big fan and will evangelize this app to my Petrolhead friends!!.Version: 17.0
✓ Stunning, everything I was after and moreQuite stunned at just how much this app can do - very close to a full replacement for data logging devices that cost thousands. I use the app for rally - once the stages are added (one simple drive through and a few taps) it will auto-arm, capture splits and auto stop when you cross cross the finish. To add to this it will then supply you the data logging, track map, can take hi-def video of it all and overlay all the telemetry on the video! And this isn't even using all the features! 5stars and thoroughly recommended..Version: 15.0.2

✓ Just AwesomeThis app far exceeded my expectations. Truly take my hat off to you guys. The overlay feature is fantastic. Everything worked and worked well without any input from yourself you just load up the track you don't have to press start stop over the finish line etc just start it once and it will start timing as auto as you go over the start finish line. ✓ One of the best apps to show off all the capabilities of the iPhone platformApple should use this application in their iPhone launch events. It's amazing how many features can be compacted into a single application. In the past I would have had to spend thousands of dollars and a bunch of non-commodity hardware to get all these capabilities. ✓ Excellent app, worth every penny!!!I hardly ever buy apps but decided to take the plunge with this one and was blown away. The sheer amount of things you get for your money is amazing. I have only had the chance to use it on one track day and it performed faultlessly. The only gripe I have, and it can't even be called that, is that my local track (snetterton) wasn't included in the presets. This is totally understandable as you can't include every track in the world. Would be nice if it could be included one day but it's not a major problem. All in all worth every penny!.Version: 12.1

✓ Awesome app, cannot beat the featuresI've been using various editions of Harry's for 3 years and have maybe 200 laps recorded at various track days. Let me say that this app has done wonders for my driving. Compared to just using a camera this gives you hard data about speed and cornering forces, and the camera gives you the line that you took. I consider this a must have for anyone serious about doing track days or autocross events. It does take some time to get familiar with and find the perfect mounting location for your phone, but once you get familiar with it the app is no more intrusive than a video camera when leaving the pits. Plus this app is being very actively developed, so I feel confident that the money I spent won't be wasted..Version: 17.1.2

If you have an iPhone, you'd be nuts not to invest in this app, which does just about everything. On my last trip to the track a friend of mine let me try it out. I was already using a camera on my harness bar and a wristwatch strapped to the steering wheel. When he emailed me the video link, I was amazed. The quality, the data... the utility! This beats the hell out anything you're using. It does for track data what the smartphone did for the telephone. But for way cheaper. ✓ Great for weekend racing - test locally first!This is a great app - I've used it for over a year and it gets better and better with every [free!] upgrade (v17 due any day). I've recommended it to a dozen others who also love it. One watchout - get to know the app BEFORE any real road/track event. It does take some simple experimenting to get it right. Thats not to say there is something wrong with it...just like anything else, learn how it works. The best part is you can easily and automatically "make a track" anywhere (parking lot, the block around your house) to check out how it auto starts/stops, overlays, etc... And use that opportunity to try different mounting positions in your car and how it works. I have a windshield mount and use the front camera, and a rollbar mound but use the "reverse" camera in that view (so I can press the buttons). It is not 100% perfect (nothing is), but for just $20 versus $$$hundreds...how can you compare?!?.Version: 16.6.2

✓ Works very well especially if paired with a 5 Hz externalI used it for the first time at Road Atlanta a couple of weeks ago. I went ahead and shelled out the $90 for the xgps150 external receiver so i would have 5 Hz update rate and the accuracy was very surprising. Yeah it's a little annoying that the video only captures every other lap but Harry says that is addressed in v15. The data overlay is pretty cool and helpful when you go back through your laps. You just enter the track and hit video and it starts automatically. It did miss a lap or 2 but for the most part it worked as described. I tried to use it at an auto cross this weekend but I only got it to work on one lap. I am going to assume I wasn't doing something correctly. I just couldn't get it to start, just said it was waiting to start. In fairness I didn't have my windshield mount or the xgps so it was probably due to poor gps signal. Anyway, in summary it's the best $18 you can spend for track time..Version: 14.4.2
✓ How did you that?.......is the reaction I get everytime I show a track day video with overlaid data from this app. Really amazing what you can do with an iPhone. Do yourself a favor and play around with this *before* you get to the track. If you try to set it up for the very first time 15 minutes before the call to grid, it can be too much to take in. One of my favorite tracks (ORP) has very spotty cell service, so you need to have the track downloaded and selected before you get there. App works well as is with just a mount and a power cord, but I've enjoyed adding a BT-1 OBDII link, a Dual GPS puck and an Olloclip wide angle lens to improve data capture and cockpit video..Version: 17.0.6

Worth it in that configuration alone, but I have recently added TomTom kit to see if mapping becomes more accurate. ✓ Incredible App and better developerWith so many apps out there, and so many developers just out to make a buck, it was incredibly refreshing to come across this add and developer! This is an awesome app for anyone that rides on a track, with cars, or with motorcycles as I do. Most of the most popular tracks were already in there, and adding your own track, then uploading it so others could use it was very simple. More importantly, aside from it being packed with features, the developer was super responsive! I emailed him asking him if he could add a 'motorcycle' icon to the app for us riders, and wihin a month an updated version was released with it. Incredible! ✓ Bought this app, Best of British thanks to you, Sir!As the previous reviewer, I rarely purchase apps. In fact, this may be the first or second app I've EVER BOUGHT. But I'm pleased I made the effort. When you compare this to the cost of a single trackday, including fuel, tyres, helmet purchase cost…it's a no-brainer. The app is slick, well thought out and a joy to use. The support networks are strong, the writer seems to have a good rapport with one of the major suppliers of aftermarket GPS dongles and in all, I can't really fault it. All I'm gutted about is that I'm probably going to pay for an upgrade to V15 (15! most apps don't get out of v3-4!) and I won't get much use out of this version. But it is what it is. >> edit >> I've just been contacted by the app's developer, who has assured me that existing users will receive a free upgrade to v15 if and when it comes out. ✓ An exceptional appWith the introduction of The Assistant, LT Pro is truly easy to use -- load your track ( hundreds already in the database) and start driving. Version 14.2 appears to have corrected a glitch that had some sessions recording as one long lap. I ran over 100 laps at GingerMan Raceway in South Haven, Michigan, without even the slightest hiccup. I have not yet figured out how to review and interpret all the data (my off season project), but I have been able to focus on the time for each individual lap as well as the maximum speed on each straightaway and the minimum speed for each turn. Comparing lap to lap has given me attainable goals that have helped me noticeably improve my times. In addition, I moved my equipment into a very fast driving friend's car and recorded laps that are about 6 to 8 seconds faster than my best time, allowing me to better understand the speeds that can be reached in order for me to establish additional targets. Very helpful and fun. I use an iPod Touch, second generation, and the TomTom Car Kit. It takes less than a minute to set it up for timing. A truly sophisticated app that has saved me many hundreds (if not a thousand) of dollars for comparable information from much more expensive systems. ✓ Makes it so easyI beta tested this version for Harry. Integrating the OBD data makes doing lap videos with overlays a touch of the button. I use 2 blue tooth devices (GPS and Go-Point) and even use GoPro Hero2 video. Integrating with GoPro video is as simple as syncing on the end of the lap, and HLT does the rest. GForce maps tell me where I can go faster, and where I"m inconsistent on my lap segments Resident maps have worked at every track Ive been to in Ontario, Canada, and only adjusting for stop/go for the timing trigger is the only thing I need to do Others have reported issues in making the automatic triggers work and video recording. This version makes it easier to setup, so you should have less issues. Once you get used to it, and experiment with setup off the track, its a breeze. Highly recommend. Integrates a lot of what I want. Now if only Harry will create a data logger app so I can view engine performance on the track with GPS markers, life would be grand!.Version: 16.0
✓ Excellent Application and even Better Customer Support!I've had this application for about 4 months now, and even since then it has improved quite a lot. Harry provides excellent customer service and implemented my request into the App in less than a month, almost no developers will do that! When coupling this App with the TomTom iPhone GPS module the accuracy is pretty spot on. I use my iPhone + TomTom for data logging, a GoPro Hero for video recording, and Dashware to put it all together. If you want RPM's, Gear Selection, and other internal car data you could also purchase a OBDII Datalogger. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and the price is unbeatable. This is a great solution to use at Autocross or the track! Overall, if you want a cheap solution for data logging look no further - this is THE App to get. ✓ You can’t beat itI’ve been tracking Porsche’s for years. I’ve had $1000 systems such as Traqmate but that’s no longer sold and windows only support is tough. Porsche Track Precision app is terrible but HLT is super reliable. I use an external BT GPS and a BLE ODB adapter. Overall you just can’t beat HLT for cost to realizability to being able to dig into data. My only wish is if I could find 991.2 GT3 custom PID info for brake pressure and ESC like the Porsche track precision app. Thank you Harry for continuing to improve an already amazing app. PS I use the Grand Prix in app upgrade, worth every penny..Version: 23.0.0

✓ The #1 accessory you can get to go faster on the track!!I kid you not- as a weekend track addict (I try and do about 6-8 weekends a year) I find Harry's Lap Timer to be the best investment I have made that has made me improve my times! Being able to capture consistent data points, sector/lap times and being able to overlay video (with MultiCam support of GoPro!) allows one to see where they are doing well and where one can improve. ✓ Superb Dash Camera and moreI mainly use it as a dash camera on the street and it is fantastic at that. It has a focus lock feature to save battery life, and video recording can be starting with just a couple taps from the start-up screen. Video overlay processing takes some time and is all on the device. Processing cannot be done in the background and the device cannot sleep while processing, and it can take a bit of time to complete. Processed videos end up in your iPhone Camera Roll so they can transfer via iCloud or iTunes syncing. Also has some useful gauges, but I wouldn't mind seeing additional realtime gauges, especially instant fuel consumption. Some customization of the gauge display screen would be nice as well. These would just be cherries on top, overall this is an amazing value even for my limited use of its functions. A quality application..Version: 16.0.4

Using this software, we are preparing next race curve by curve, trying different strategies and analyzing the resulting diagrams (lineal/lateral acceleration, speed, etc). To put it in context, I have used other dedicated data logging and lap timing equipment for track use, and they are expensive costing many hundreds of dollars - even thousands, and are extremely complex to use. By contrast Harry's is extraordinarily easy to use (once you figure it out) and so cheap it's free by comparison to the alternatives. But it's a MUST to get an external GPS antenna for reliability and accuracy. The Emprum is great and has 5 Hz update, and the TomTom car kit is also a great improvement with only 1 Hz. Figure spending about $100 on GPS and windscreen mount. Still far cheaper than the alternatives. And the video recording and data overlay is great. The amount of functionality it provides eclipses what you'd expect on a desktop application, let alone a mobile device. ✓ Superb app.I have been going to the Nurburgring in Germany for around 10 years now and have always asked my passengers to hold a camera to record my laps. That then evolved into an iPhone in a screen mount......... But now there's this! Not only does it film your lap but it uses GPS and other phone sensors to give any track day enthusiast all the info they could ever want. ✓ Best Data Acquisition for iPhoneI have been using this app for several versions over the last two years and love it! At first I got the app because I didn't want to spend $1000s on commercial systems that pros use, I'm just an amateur HPDE driver tracking my Vette. So HLT was the next best thing, and it did have some bugs in the beginning (Harry was always very responsive to questions), but the last couple versions have been terrific especially with all the new features that keep being added. The recent version and the next release provide features found on the commercial pro systems for a fraction of the cost. I highly recommend HLT!.Version: 16.6.2

✓ THE app to have for track days, period.This seems expensive for an iPhone app, but you're basically turning your iPhone into a $1000+ racing telemetry unit. I haven't tried the video overlay function yet, but if it works as advertised, (and by all reports, it does so quite well...), you're getting the equivalent of a $2000+ system. Kind of a no-brainer. Costs roughly gas money for half-a-dozen laps around my home track. If I had ANY complaint at all, navigation through all the various feature menus is a touch confusing -- but I think that's mostly because this thing is so crazy packed with features that it's hard to organize all of it into a logical format. If you look back at all the version releases, it keeps doing more and more. If he adds any more features, it's liable to drive the car for you! Harry's GPS Lap Timer provides as comprehensive a solution as the iphone can handle, performing much of the same functionality as the vastly more expensive dedicated timing solutions, requires virtually no setup at the track, and just flat works! Used the Petrolhead version at Indy Motor Speedway this past weekend (my 7th event this summer), and impressed my garage-mates with the timing and video the app produced. Additionally, I had a question over the weekend that I posed to Harry; he responded very quickly, and I was up and running for the next session. ✓ Incredible app! Worth 10x the price!I have used Harry's Laptimer since back in the Palm OS days. It has been amazing to watch this app go from the most basic "Laptimer" to a comprehensive timer, data logger and video capture and overlay program. Just the basic timer functionality alone is worth the price of the app. If you are doing DE's or track days, this app is a must have! Some people have reported issues, but I suspect user error and marginal equipment are the main issues. For example, the app won't work from the pocket of your jeans. The author strongly recommends using an external gps to improve the signal quality. Harry has bent over backwards to help me in the past and is very responsive. ✓ Every update gets better!I've been using this app for over a year now and it's one of the most well supported apps I own. For anyone doing autocross or any highperformace driving days at a track this app is what you want. I've got over 200 laps at my local track this summer and gigs of synced video. ✓ You'd have to pay at least $1000 to get this performance otherwise.Harry's lap timer pro is more than just a toy. I am an autocrosser, and use Lap Timer Pro as my primary data acquisition tool. I am using it with an Emprum 5 Hz GPS dongle and a WiFi OBDII reader (generic Chinese PLXII knock-off). The total investment in hardware accessories and software was about $180. The tool does what you'd have to pay over $1000 for otherwise (Traqmate, Race Technologies DL1 etc). It works very well, with lots of features including data export to many formats and video overlays to iphone video and external video source. Service is spectacular (you talk with Harry directly, and he solves problems usually within 1 day). Updates and bug fixes come constantly, along with new features. That being said, there are a few negatives. Reliability when connecting to the GPS and WIFi unit could be improved. I've found a procedure that works, though. The app is not happy if you get it going, quit or put it in the background and then come back without reconnecting the external devices. I am now in the habit of reconnecting the GPS and wifi every time I start the app, which works well. Also, if you're somewhere hot, the iphone can overheat and go into shutdown. There are some tricks to mitigate this. I live in Phoenix, though, which is as bad as it gets. Even with these issues, Harry's Lap Timer is an astounding value, and a real showpiece for what is possible with iphone apps..Version: 14.4.2
