Alice for the iPad Pros

Beautiful & stunning - The best iPad book! This book is incredible, a genuine reinvention of the electronic book! I've been showing this to children (and adults) and they love it! I got this app after reading about it in The Sunday Times and watching the video. The critics are right, this really is the future of eBooks. The Mad Hatter's Tea Party is intriguing -- shake the iPad and the Mad Hatter bobbles about the screen. I use this to demonstrate my iPad's abilities. You can turn the iPad upside down and Alice grows oddly tall. Rock the iPad gently and all kinds of strange and beautiful things start happening to the scenes. The artwork is brilliant and the story's as great as ever. Good old Lewis Carroll ! If you're looking for a good way to explain to your wife why you bought an iPad, this is it. I'm struggling to wrestle the iPad back off everyone I show this app to! The physical simulations are great, they respond to all kinds of different changes in the iPad's orientation. Every telling of the story is different. What would make it perfect is a recorded narration, so you can leave young kids alone to be entertained by it. Having said that, it's quite motivating not having narration, since adults are then more likely to sit and read this with a child -- an experience I can recommend. Looking forward to more titles adapted with this technology. Amazing work!.MagicBoxHatVersion: 0

BeautifulI have been reading the full version and I love it. Not enough animations and illustrations to distract, but enough that it enhances the story beautifully. I also love the "old styled" background for the pages. A wonderful treat!.C. E. RainfordVersion: 3.01

Alice for the iPad Cons

I wish I could return for a refundI impulsively bought this app after watching the demo video online and I'm sorry to say, the experience is deeply disappointing. Every single person I handed the iPad to tried to interact with the animations by touching them, it's an touch screen after all, and seemed surprised that they couldn't. One can't "flip" pages intuitively, instead having to rely on a clunky-looking arrow navigation. Same goes for the accelerometer-controlled animations, my kids want to touch, move things with their fingers, interact... not just watch them floating across the page. Very sad. Oh yeah... there's no sound either. The illustrations are GORGEOUS but the sporadic big typography inserts are overdone and inconsistent (with tacky drop shadows and emboss). Just not elegant at all. I eagerly paid for it but I expected a lot more, while my kids, even thou they love books, were bored..RenatoVersion: 0

Not working anymore with IOS8Very nice book when it works, as previous review mention it crash every time you want to open the app. Totally useless until they make an update..Anand ManuVersion: 3.01
