Great idea, let down by inattention to typographyThis application is a mostly delightful demonstration of how much more an electronic book can offer than mere words on a page. Unfortunately, despite the lavishing of attention upon the graphical elements of this work, some of the typographical details have been rather neglected. For example, non-typographical straight quotation marks make an intermittent and haphazard appearance throughout the text, although proper curved marks are sometimes used. I even noticed one instance where quotation marks around a phrase were opened but not closed. It’s a pity that the overall effect of this book is spoiled by such minor carelessness. I hope that future versions will rectify these distracting problems..Version: 0

AmazingAmazing. This is the future for books. Love it..Version: 0

Amazing E-bookThis is the future of e-books. Great story (obviously) and amazing use of the iPad's technology. Easy to read, and even better to look at..Version: 0

BeautifulI think this app is absolutely worth the money. The animation within this text shows how we can begin to re-imagine books. Effectively this is a pop-up book for the digital age. In a bookshop, a pop-up book is likely to cost you in the $20s, so the price isn't such a big deal in that context. My attitude-laden preteen son adores this..Version: 0

Beautiful & stunning - The best iPad book! This book is incredible, a genuine reinvention of the electronic book! I've been showing this to children (and adults) and they love it! I got this app after reading about it in The Sunday Times and watching the video. The critics are right, this really is the future of eBooks. The Mad Hatter's Tea Party is intriguing -- shake the iPad and the Mad Hatter bobbles about the screen. I use this to demonstrate my iPad's abilities. You can turn the iPad upside down and Alice grows oddly tall. Rock the iPad gently and all kinds of strange and beautiful things start happening to the scenes. The artwork is brilliant and the story's as great as ever. Good old Lewis Carroll ! If you're looking for a good way to explain to your wife why you bought an iPad, this is it. I'm struggling to wrestle the iPad back off everyone I show this app to! The physical simulations are great, they respond to all kinds of different changes in the iPad's orientation. Every telling of the story is different. What would make it perfect is a recorded narration, so you can leave young kids alone to be entertained by it. Having said that, it's quite motivating not having narration, since adults are then more likely to sit and read this with a child -- an experience I can recommend. Looking forward to more titles adapted with this technology. Amazing work!.Version: 0

Awesome update!Good update! Now I can get right in and wobble all the characters around. The kids really, really love this! I agree it would be nice to have the option to read a non-abridged version. But, having said that, this is the perfect length for a kid's story (in fact it's quite long for a bedtime read, at 52 pages) -- not sure I could face reading my kids the 140 page full-edition of Alice in Wonderland just yet. Or if they would sit still through it! This is still the app I fire up first when I want to show off what the iPad can do. Very futuristic..Version: 0

PerfectionAmazing! With this new update everything I could possibly want from a story book app has now been given to me. The option to switch between abridged and unabridged gives every member of the family their perfect level of interaction from youngest to eldest. I can't wait for more titles like this..Version: 0

Fantastic please make more books! The best iPad book as far as I'm concerned. Love the interactive physics. Please make more books like this..Version: 0

Now with unabridged version!I'm still extremely impressed by the presentation of this book, but was disappointed when I realised we were reading an abridged version of the book. This has now been resolved in the latest update, I'm so happy, this is the edition I thought I had bought. Also, bookmarks please..Version: 0

This is iBooks for iPadThis is the book the they were talking about when when someone said lets make an iPad book. This is a book for all ages. Young and young at heart (corny but true). Get this to show off what the iPad is capable of and to show others what an iBook is supposed to be on the iPad..Version: 3.01

Perfect for the Alice fanI have never reviewed anything, however I feel this app deserved a review. I remember this app being demonstrated on Oprah and all I could think was "I need to buy an iPad just so I can have this!" I am not disappointed, however I do feel this was a little more pricey than need be. For those complaining that there aren't enough interactive parts, this is comparable to a children's pop-up book which is at least twice the price and has fewer "interactive" parts. This definitely has the classic Alice feel and I highly recommend purchasing it..Version: 3.01

Alice for Ipad not an IbookThis is a stand alone app not a ibook version. I read a review and searched for it in ibooks. Great graphics, look forward the full text version ( this is abridged).Version: 0

ImpressiveImaginative and impressive. Perhaps slightly overpriced, but a nice demo for the capabilities of your iPad..Version: 0

Great appI always loved the story of Alice in Wonderland, I am sure if Lewis Carroll was alive today he would have written his book as an app. for is is a real magic, his name should be on the cover page,.Version: 0

Alice for the iPadI loved this book as it uses the original illustrations yet brings it up to the present by making them move - this would be a wonderful way to introduce a child who prefers technology to sitting down with a book to actually then go to look at the book itself. I would like a setting to take me to a contents and page reference so I can find the exact page I'm looking for - it's frustrating to turn lots of pages before I get the page I want - which is not necassarily the last page I had open. Otherwise a really delightful app - thankyou!.Version: 0

Almost thereThere's a lot to like here. It uses the Tenniel illustrations. The interactive features are in the spirit of the book. It looks great. The full text is now available (the original was horribly abridged, with all of the poems deleted) and an editing error in 3.0 has been corrected. The main thing, maybe the only thing, now is to fix the "index", which, in the unabridged version, is simply a list of pages that, if you have great patience, you can scroll through. Even a table of contents would be a huge improvement over this. Five stars when this issue is resolved..Version: 0

Missing some thingsThough the book is pretty fabulous, and shoud not stop me from sharing with my granddaughter, I wish for a few more things. This rendering cries out for sounds! Also, i realize the authors are trying to save money, but now with the mostly good reviews they should be able to update to an unabridged edition. Especially by jumping on the 3 D movie bandwagon..Version: 0

Reinvent reading? No, but ...... this is still a wonderful app! If you can calm down from the crazy video and mega-hype that this has had you'll find something that's artfully delivering illustrations and a story that are as vibrant today as they were 100 years ago. Using physics to make the entire device interactive was a stroke of brilliance by the creators and has made this the FIRST of what will surely be many many books for the iPad that showcase not only a great text and drawings but also why the iPad is better for books than the (now incredibly) dowdy looking Kindle!.Version: 0

A pop-up book for the 21st centuryFantastic app! Incredible interactive book version of Alice in Wonderland - if you love pop-up books you'll adore this ipad version of a pop-up book. Make Alice grow larger or smaller, fling jam tarts around the courtroom, swing the White Rabbit's watch. This app is clearly great fun for kids, but it's just as much fun for adults. It's also the first book app I've found that really begins to show the potential of the ipad for really creative interactivity. Would love to see more of the same from the developer..Version: 0

Beautiful yet (still) Condensed; update is much more stableGorgeously designed with a layout that compliments the original drawings, many of which have been animated. Much of the text, alas, has been excluded. The update did fix the crashiness and added some new animations in the already animated pages, but no new animated pages, and still no Lobster Quadrille or "You Grow Old, Father William." Even with these problems - and the steepish price tag - the app is so pretty and cleverly illustrated that I gave it 4 out of 5. Alice fans and those who have to amuse kids and fussy adults will be glad to have it on hand..Version: 0

This book sets the bar! This was the first book I bought for our iPad & I was amazed at how EVERY page is interactive! Needless to say after I bought another book & it had no interactive features, my daughter & I were disappointed. Haven't found another like it. When is the next one coming?.Version: 0

A creative BookThis is an exceptional, creative book, allowing the reader to interact with the pages and characters. However, I purchased this app, thinking it would automatically have a 'read to' option. My 6 year old loves the pictures and the story but I have to sit with her to read it as she cannot manage the text at 6 years of age. If you need the audio 'read to' option then this is not a fully interactive book and purchasers should wait until their child can read confidently and by themselves. But it was nice to read my daughter the bedtime version of the story whilst still allowing her to interact with the pages..Version: 3.01

Great book, four year old loves it!Considering a real book is the same price and this one offers beautiful pictures, innovative use of touch that is fun, and a good abridged version that is short enough for my daughter to enjoy... Well worth the price! Great job helping parents teach young ones that books are fun!.Version: 0

Great looking bookThis is really a great looking book with clever moments of interactivity. However it does lack a read-along feature that is present in every other interactive book available in the app store. This would be a feature, as well as sound effects..Version: 0

Nice but could be betterNice but for the high price the full story should have been offered. The concept is great but too much hype.Version: 0

Loved this, but dosn't work on new IOSLoved this on the old IOS, but the app doesn't function on the new one :-(.Version: 3.01

Really neat! This app is put together so well! I'm very impressed with the moving illustrations as I read! So happy I downloaded this :).Version: 4

Beautiful! This app is absolutely lovely! A great way to keep my kindergartener interested in learning to read:).Version: 0

Beautiful illustration and animation, but needs a reading optionFirst, the illustration and animation of this app are absolutely beautiful. Well done. My daughter is 3 and cannot read it by herself yet. Can the author of this app add an option so that it would read out loud itself to children? Thanks..Version: 3.01

Text to speech doesn’t workNice app with public domain text with illustrations and small animations. It would be better if it worked with the Apple text to speech function to read the text on the screen. For some this is a convenience, but for many it may make this beloved book accessible. There are many options for the sight or print impaired to read about Alice, adding text to speech accessibility to your app would make yours an option and extend that fun multi sensory element that you’re going for to s broader audience..Version: 4.0.1

Worth every pennyA really amazing app for old and young! I just wish the iBooks were this much fun. A great choice of story too and an innovative way of presenting it. Well done!.Version: 0

AbridgedA great idea and some beautiful execution. I'm disappointed that the text is abridged, and will probably not share this with the kids until we've read the original. I hope future updates will include better navigation (arrows are slow, cat-index doesn't work very well for me?) and maybe smoother animations and more variety. And a couple of typos, but that should be easy to fix. Would be nice to be able to hide the arrows and just tap the sides, so they don't obscure the pretty pictures. Will be worth $9 with these updates!.Version: 0

Beautiful!Hope there are more like it in store.Version: 0

BeautifulI have been reading the full version and I love it. Not enough animations and illustrations to distract, but enough that it enhances the story beautifully. I also love the "old styled" background for the pages. A wonderful treat!.Version: 3.01

Ground-breaking creationThis treatment of "Alice in Wonderland" is a beautiful creation. It is providing an original use of iPad technical possibilities which will inspire other marvelous works and will help to define a whole new world of literary presentation. I'm delighted to see this new world unfolding right before my eyes. I have one small aesthetic quibble which in no way subtracts from my enthusiasm. I would wish to have the navigation elements (arrows and index icon) less obtrusive. (Everybody's a critic, eh?).Version: 0

Finally (almost) unabridgedThe main complaint about the previous version is that it was highly abridged, cutting down the Tea Party to a minimum and leaving the Mock Turtle out entirely (just to name a couple of the elisions). This latest version remedies that deficiency, containing the complete text - except for the last five lines! Also, there are no new animated pages - the unabridged portions contain elegantly formatted pages but not any more swinging watches or flying cards than are found in the abridged version..Version: 0

MORE PLEASE!My almost 4 year old daughter LOVES this interactive story! It's just beyond cool how amazing it is and to see how much my daughter lights up when I read this to her! I hope MORE stories like this one are coming soon!!.Version: 0

BeautifulWow. Gorgeous app. This is a whole new level for reading books. Of course children eat this up. But you'll be surprised how interested adults are :) Job well done!.Version: 0

Very Creative! This is what the iPad is all about. The story is brought to life in a whole new way. You've got to try it!.Version: 0

It's gorgeousSuch a wonderful edition, attractive for both the young reader as well as the young at heart..Version: 4

Very creative bookThis is very beautifully done, however my only complaint is it could do with a "Read to me" option as my son is ASD and would like to enjoy the book with a voiceover..Version: 3.01

FabWonderful app. Very magical. Wish all ebooks were like this. Well worth the purchase ..Version: 3.01
