✓ Daily Morning Spiritual KickstarterThe first thing I do every morning when I get up is go to the Magnificat morning prayers. The Magnificat is perfect those of us who do not have time for the Liturgy of the Hours but want to pray with the rest of the Church daily. I find the Magnificat prayers a perfect way to start and end my day. They are uplifting helpful, they are not too long or too short but just right. The meditations are often inspiring. It is great to have the daily Mass reading to study before Mass, when I cannot get to Mass or even after Mass sometimes when I want to revisit them. I've already subscribed to the paper addition for about 10 years and that is what I use for Mass, but the rest of the time I like use it on my iPad..Version: 5.0.2

✓ First impressions ...Good. Redesign is pretty well though out. However, for those of us with smaller screens and older eyes ... giving up space at the top of the screen for the Magnicicat heading is problematic. In earlier versions, it would disappear when the screen was tapped making the entire screen realestate available for the text for the Mass. Now, it persists..Version: 5.0.2

✓ The best building daily a habitI subscribed to the Magnificat paper version, but never read it regularly. Then I decided to try the digital subscription, mainly for the cheaper price. ✓ Missing feature: dark/night modeI am changing my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars, because one feature is missing: dark/night mode. This has been a standard feature in all the operating systems I use. If I want to read a meditation or reflection during the evening or night hours, I must copy and paste the text to an app that has dark/night mode. Once dark/night mode is enabled, I will change my rating back to 5 stars..Version: 5.3.0

My suggestion would be in the order of the Mass to make the different Eucharistic Prayers clickable. It is distracting during Mass to have to scroll to find the prayer being used by the priest. ✓ Beautiful, useful, inspiringI love having my Magnificat on hand at all times. The artwork is always beautiful. The meditations and Saint stories are so useful and inspiring...but, it’s the Saints, how could they not be! If I’m at a loss for words for prayer, I can always bring up the prayers for guidance. Best yet, my children enjoy the guided night prayers! (They actually prefer them to what we had been praying as a family!).Version: 5.0.7
✓ Absolutely BeautifulIt took a little time to learn to navigate all the features. But I absolutely love this app. I have the English version and my wife the Spanish version. ✓ I only wish I discovered this app sooner it’s awesomeIf your serious about getting closer to god, don’t have time to read the the Bible, going through a loss or family member in need this is the king of all religious apps that will strengthen your bond with god, grow your knowledge and fill your heart mind and soul with all the things it needs. At first I used it to say prayers at meal times then began to explore all the other menu items and now especially fond of the hymns. ✓ Overall, a great improvementSo, I like this new version, and though limited on time to write about all the improvements, one of the better is the ability to change the font size. The previous version you could “stretch” it open to make it larger, but then had to move the screen side to side to read the larger size. My only problem, and I sent an email to the feedback team a week ago, is when I tap on Evening Prayer, I keep getting the morning prayer for the day. I’ve tried deleting the app and reinstalling it, but that didn’t fix this issue. Was curious if anyone else is having the same problem?.Version: 5.0.2
✓ Update - MUCH Improved! RE: Really disappointingThis update is worlds better than the previous version! Works quickly, user friendly, and has everything at your fingertips (can even click over and back to Canticles easily). No error messages so far, looking forward to using this more regularly. Tip: you can adjust the font size in the settings (very helpful). Old review: I love Magnificat and am so disappointed in this app. It very rarely works, I get constant error messages saying it's ready for download and after hitting Continue like 30 times it will just go back to the log in. The content is great and has good design but there has to be a way to get the app to work! Who's the patron saint of Smartphones? ;).Version: 5.0.2
✓ A great spiritual aid - technical problems in downloading.November 2018: unable to download on my iPad. Extremely frustrating. Fortunately I have it on my smart phone, but why can’t I get it on my iPad this month? Arrrrrgh! December 2013: again the app is not working w/o internet connection. Is this going to happen every month? Please fix this. Update: I love this app now that it can be accessed w/o Wifi. I have a written subscription but don't mind paying an extra $1.99 a month to help support this most important publication. C'mon, that is less than a cup of coffee in most places. Isn't spiritual food worth at least that much? It's great to be able to have the Magnificat with me wherever I go. Great job! * * * I love Magnificat mag and this app is just like having it on my Ipod. But it can only be accessed with wifi. ✓ Good Publication - Bad AppAfter three days of not being able to use it, the app seems to be back on track. September 2022 I routinely have problems with the app not recognizing my subscription. This happens every few months and I have to sign out and sign in a couple of times to fix it. Ugh! But do-able. Now, however, that won’t work. Instead, I get a cannot load message. I see by looking at other reviews that the developer recommended going to Settings — Status of Memory. This has not helped either. If this problem gets fixed, I will update my review. Currently, though, I can’t access my paid subscription. Other than the fact that I can’t read it this month, it’s a great prayer aid..Version: 5.1.19

✓ What a spiritual gift!For about a year now I have enjoyed waking up with Magnificat. The art, the intentions, the historical context, and of course scripture! What I would love to see is a way for the app to be more interactive. Wouldn’t it be amazing if there was a community aspect to this? It would also be great if one was able to view this in PDF format. I often want to print out the entries without having to print out the background and other details that eat up ink. Anyhow this app has been really hard really helpful in my spiritual growth and fostering a deeper connection with God, scripture and prayer. ✓ Essential Easily Readable Resource of Christian FaithI have subscribed to both the print and online versions of Magnificat for four years. It helps me know upcoming religious feasts and memorial days of the Saints. There are prayers for morning and evening and a reflection reading after the Scripture readings of the Mass. Each month there are fifteen or more stories of the Saints. All of the above helps me to read more about the treasury of the lives of those who have passed on to us their experience of God and the gift of His Son and His Church. ✓ What would I do without this AppI love this app bc it allows me to access the Magnificat and its beautiful contact (guided prayers for morning, evening, night). The daily Mass. the daily meditation and saint of the day. As well as other thoughtful pieces to read. ✓ Version 5: what a relief!After three years, and months of warnings that the app would soon stop working, I am so happy to see the new version. The upgrade was rocky: it lost my login and I ended up having to delete and reinstall it (it also disappeared from the AppStore for two days). Visual design is very nice. Just a few nits: • split-hexagon background for buttons is distracting; • red text of "other features" button is garish; • download progress starts at 0% brightness which makes it impossible to see, and brightens to show progress; this is too clever by half as the arc and number are already doing so. Addendum: in the afternoon the main page shows tomorrow's date instead of today's (US/Pacific time). Thank you Magnificat!.Version: 5.0.2
✓ Can’t Load Issue ResolvedI’ve also subscribed to this app for years with few problems. Just today before mass I entered the app (not the first time in the September issue) and it says there was an error loading due to a database issue. Checking the memory in settings it also says there “database issue”. I was really enjoying this option for a digital missal. Magnificat is a great publication, but please help! ✓ Forever downloadsWe really have enjoyed this for a year or two but since the upgrade we can't get it because the operating system we have is 9 something . We ask to download an older version that is compatible an it promptly gives notice that it is downloading, please wait. And we wait, and we wait, and we wait. It never stops. HELP I can get it at Magnificat online. Com,and the new scroll format is great, and it appears that is what this app might show. But we are still stuck with forever downloading. Except now it stops, says error downloading, touch to retry. Retried seven times, no luck, it would be nice to get it again on the iPad. HELP Thank you for solving the problem! ✓ New version is big improvementThe new version is a big update and works more smoothly on the current iOS. My favorite improvements are the ability to increase the font size and the way this version shows off the beautiful Magnificat magazine cover when you open the app. Just tap on the small part of the cover image and it increases to full screen. Two of the best things about Magnificat have always been the beautiful cover and the daily meditations. (Otherwise the full version of Universalis would be an alternative to Magnificat, but it lacks these features.) I do wish this Magnificat app made the articles more visible- they are buried as one of a zillion things under "Other Features". Ah well, nothing compares to the print version..Version: 5.0.2

✓ Single copy purchase only works on ONE device.Hi, I buy single monthly copies on my iPad but then cannot view them on my iPhone even though I’m using the same Apple ID. Is this normal for this app? I.e can only use on one device? When I first installed the app - on both my iPad and iPhone - the free 1st month copy worked on both. ✓ Helpful - Thanks!Getting a free July issue at Phoenix Lifeteen Conference this year, I subscribed for the print version last week after realizing the Magnificat really helped me grow in my prayer life and will only continue to do so. But it takes a month for the first one to arrive so this free app really helps tie me over until September! Clearly it states that next month's will be 1.99 but that's worth it for people still deciding if they want the yearly print subscription. Worth every penny considering the spiritual value.
