✓ Change from Air 2 to 10th GenerationI have been pleased with the upgrades over time when new features have been added. When I replaced my Air Pad 2 with a 10th Generation I was even more pleased with the ability to alter the theme when reading. There is one thing I miss. In fact, I never realized how much I used it until it was gone. That’s the line under the text with the dot that shows where you are in the book. In 10th generation you have to touch the screen for it to show you what “page of pages” you’re on. That would be fine if it stayed on, but it’s only there momentarily. Also, the dot could be used to advance or revisit areas in the book without having to start at a chapter. That was a handy way to maneuver within the book. These are such small things considering. Like I said, never realized how much I used it. I hope this functionality will be added back in 10th Generation in the future..Version: 4.4
✓ NEW IOS UPDATEThe new IOS update for books has been AMAZING. The IOS 16 one screwed me up as they got rid of the page turn animation that I absolutely loved, and you couldn’t tap off the exit and contents button at the sides to remove them from the page whilst reading which really frustrated me. But thank god Apple have reincorporated these things cause the app is literally perfect now. Love it..Version: 4.4
✓ GreatI love Apple Books and I love reading. I was recently diagnosed with ADHD and discovered bionic reading as a very very helpful tool for me with maintaining focus and absorbing the content while reading. PLEASE Apple would you consider adding bionic reading as an option? Neurodivergent people (and there are plenty of us) would be reading (and buying) a whole lot more here if this option was available. Thanks!.Version: 4.2.6
✓ 1 request 1 bugRequest the ability to stack books on the main library (without creating a new collection) since several publishers don’t seem to stack there books (manga) and it takes up a lot of space, where I’d like to stack them all together in one group of the same publisher Since some seem to do it for a few volumes ie- volume 1/2 then 3 is off doing its own thing like it’s a separate book ? Please add this function as reading volumes then having to go out of the stacked books just to read the next volumes seems stupid. Bug - which seems to be related to the iOS storage bug my books is now at 47 GB which is should really be at 23 GB ( I don’t have that many books for it to be 47GB ) it’s added on 23 GB from no where, so it’s basically doubled the book app size ???.Version: 4.2.6

✓ Except for ...Site locks up. In particular when reading the samples. There appears to be a disconnect between the "book" and my screen. Last night when I had selected the book I was presented with the cover and the spinning wheel, nothing else. I put the phone, iXR, down and allowed it to continue doing whatever overnight. It was still presenting the cover shot and spinning wheel. Returning to the home screen and reselecting the icon takes it back to the cover and spinner. Just a white background and operating buttons are not shown. Any suggestions?.Version: 4.2.6
✓ Educational ToolLooking at the reviews of negativity is sad, as the Books App is an awesome tool for interactive learning. I tutor folks with a variation of disabilities, who are able to use the MarkUp tool to improve their Literacy skills on the Books App. You are able to download .pdf documents which can be uploaded into the Books App, then using Text boxes on the iPad or just simply your finger to write with you can insert information on the document. Do not miss out on the wonderful range of Creativity Books available for Free relating to iPad Apps and also every time there is an Update to iPads and iPhones folks do not even know there are FREE manuals available on the Books App..............Thank you from a very grateful Tutor.....👩🏻💻🌻.Version: 4.2.6
✓ Apple BooksUsed to be good until we had to instal ios16. I am a blind person who uses voiceover. Since the update it has become harder to read with Apple Books. You now have to slide upwards with 3 fingers to turn a page and when you turn it there are words missing from the new page. This spoils the reading experience and spoils the book. Apple need to deal with this quickly as we have paid money for our books and don’t deserve our experience to be spoilt. Many blind people use apple products as their devices are best for us to use. I hope somebody at apple reads this and makes the situation better. I won’t be buying anymore books from you if the app remains like this. It’s a shame because i have enjoyed using the app untiil now and it is an excellent way to buy books. Before the update i would have given Apple Books 5 stars but not now. I’m glad I’ve had my say. Why is it that people always try to mend things that don’t neeed fixing. It’s what happens when you have to much money coming in and not enough to do..Version: 4.3
✓ Page turning and book settingsI have never been happier to actually be listened to by an app developer. I can adjust the book setting to my liking just by going into the options, the curling animation is back and the page numbers are back as well. I stopped using Books because of the last update but now that I know it’s back to how it was I’m actually reading again and enjoying it.Version: 4.4
✓ Authors Page is BuggedI’ve noticed a few authors whose books are not organized correctly. PhD Sam Harris’ books are about philosophy and spirituality but his page a book about a pig by an author also named Sam Harris. That second Sam Harris is a different guy. Robert Greene has the same issue with another person named Robert Greenes’ books bunched together on the same page. This issue is much worse with John Gray. Half of his books are on an authors page labeled John Gray, the other half are on John Grey (with an “e”). And not all of his books are available in audio form which is understandable. But why is the opposite true where only the audio version exists? And, again, someone else’s books are on both of John Gray’s/Grey's’ page who also goes by John Gray/Grey but is not the clinical psychologist. I really despise Amazons Audible app. Apple Books is so elegant especially in iOS 16. Pls fix this :).Version: 4.4
✓ Took away copy paste? no?Highlight is broken sometimes, my dudes and dudettes new bugs: scroll reading gets glitchy partway thru a book. cant scroll smoothly have to go back to paging. hilite suddenly broken after going back to paging, what? non english books needs to list the translator and the author. very important. similar for english to X translation. --- been using this app since it was new but 4 stars now because they took away ability to copy n' paste. i'm an academic, i want to take notes of interesting phrases, not steal your text. what ever happened to rip mix burn? another reviewer commented that prior copy paste added extra boilerplate copyright text. that was kind of annoying but at least it worked. other issue: if you accidentally touch the bottom page bar, you hyperspace jump to another page and there doesnt seem to be an undo. this is the latest ios15.x version, apparently 16 has gone off the rails? according to other reviewers. wait now i am confused. maybe the ios 16 version is missing copy paste, and ios 15 is ok..Version: 4.4
✓ My honest thoughtsHonestly, I love this book app it's great, especially for on-the-go reading and I don't have enough time to swipe a book. But these recent updates spoil the mood for this app. For example, I loved the feature where when you turn the pages it's a 3D animation of a page flip! I thought that was a cool and fun feature and it made reading on this app fun, but now the recent update got rid of that and it's just a slide. In my opinion, this makes the app bland and unfun to read from I'm sure others agree. There's also a problem with permanently deleting books that you don't want I think these features should be attended to! Also, the dark color for reading isn't dark anymore like It used to be, when I try to read it's still super bright cause it's more of a gray color than black. I just think you shouldn't change cool features that are fine where they are and instead fix other issues about the app..Version: 4.3

✓ Page turn animation option reinstated in 16.4!Hooray! Editing my review back up from 1 star to 4, to reflect the fact that with the page turn animation reinstated, I can actually use the app again. Nice to be able to read books on my phone again (unlike other reviewers, I didn't find any of the alternative e-reader apps enjoyable enough to switch to). There seem to be some issues with synchronising progress between my iPad and iPhone, and library management is a bit of a pain with a big library (sort by author mixes first names and surnames, sort by title uses series title not book title for anything considered to be part of a series, I can't find a way to see just the books I've already bought but haven't yet read, etc.), but I'm so relieved to have the excellent page-turn animation back, I almost don't care. ✓ Why do they mess with perfection?***UPDATE*** As of the 16.4 update, the page turn animation has been restored! Thank you Apple for listening to the people! I spend a large majority of my time using Apple Books. In fact, I never write reviews, but the changes with the new update are so upsetting. I appreciated the page turn animation and enjoyed the reading experience. I can’t stand to read on the new update. I’m so frustrated with it. If you haven’t already completed the update DON’T!! The only choices are the endless scroll or the disconnected page slide that completely takes me out of the story. Please return this feature!! ✓ No issues here.I don’t understand the bad reviews, but also not sure what experiences that are causing such a low ranking score. It’s a clean, minimal, design. Book store is loaded with up to date releases, mind you they could do more to monitor the consistent pool of new titles. The ease of the book store and it’s navigational tools are on par with today’s apps. Being able to buy and download straight to your device is so much more convenient. Reading off of my iPad is absolutely stunning since most of my reading is done at night. Which I can agree that if you’re reading during the day you might not want to be out in a park with your phone or electronic device.., there’s not very many bugs to be weary of, it’s accessibility options are at the front of the apps design. It definitely has its pros and cons just like with any application. But that’s to go without saying. Definitely an under developed score. ✓ New User - Works FineI am a new Books user since I just purchased an iPad a few months ago. I am currently reading a free Jane Austin book (have not purchased an ebook yet). I have used other ebook apps (nook, Libby, etc) and this one is equally fine. I have yet to come across a stellar eReading application. I wish Apple would take advantage of its ecosystem and give users the ability to annotate on books with an Apple Pencil. In my opinion, it would really make their native app stand out over competitors, as I have not been able to find this feature in any eReader app, and my Apple Pencil sitting inches away from the eBook is yearning to be used. Instead, if I want to take notes I have to open a separate app as opposed to marking up the page. Adding a true freehand annotation feature would really make it a 4- or 5-star application..Version: 4.4
✓ Improve seeing meaning of wordsWhen I am reading and see an unfamiliar word, I would like to be able to long press on the word and see “Lookup” in the context menu. Currently I have to scroll the context menu to find the “Lookup” option. It should be first, as I rarely want to copy or highlight individual words when reading a book, but often like to look up a word’s meaning..Version: 4.4
✓ Add To Favourites OptionI really love this app, I can find most of the books I search for and read my PDF books really easily. ✓ Useful but could do betterI use Books as a convenient app to have my exam specifications on. It is very good at doing this, since it can be used offline and its scroll feature makes navigating each document easy. Also, it was easy to download the specifications from Safari. However, its book store is hard to navigate and in many cases it’s easier to use databases on Safari to get reading material than Books..Version: 4.4

✓ Great app but…..This app is really great b/c it has so many different audio books and regular books to read. I think this app is great also b/c when you are traveling, you can just pick any book to read so you don’t have to pack like 30 books. You can also listen to the audio books when you are trying to sleep. But this app is also annoying b/c it doesn’t have every book, which I don’t expect it to. This app can also be annoying when it makes you pay like $5, which kinda REALLY PISSES YOU OFF(sorry for the language). I also don’t know why everyone hates this app and gives it bad ratings. Everyone out there who rated this app bad, those bugs you talk about are all b/c of the device you are using, the device is prob just glitchy.
