FAA IFR Instrument Rating Prep for Positive User Reviews

The best study app!!I used this app to study and got a 92 on my test! The app helped a lot making it easy and convenient to study where ever I was whenever I had spare time! On the actual test there were very few questions I had not seen from studying with the app or at least seen a different version of the same question! I even emailed the company with some feedback after taking my test and got a email back within 24hrs saying they were going to correct what I pointed out! Loved the app would defiantly recomend it to anyone who wants and easy and convient way to study! I will be purchasing the apps to study for all of my other ratings and certificates as well!.Version: 9.6.3

IFR ReviewI have purchased several online IFR training packages over the last year however the Dauntless Ground School Ifr is well put together and if you miss answer a question the correct answer along with the FAA answer populates this is very helpful for someone that is struggling with the information..Version: 10.3.2

Best test prepDauntless provides excellent test prep! After scoring 100% on the private pilot exam using their software, I knew that I would use their IFR prep as well. I just scored a 97%! They provide over one thousand practice questions. The questions cover all the topics and each question has an in depth explanation why the answer is correct, and just as importantly why the others are wrong. They support you learning the materials rather than memorizing correct answers. That makes all the difference when you take the actual exam and you come prepared for just about anything that might be asked. Lastly, the graphics in the explanations are very informative and help to understand complex topics like aerodynamics, flight planning and instrument failures. Great software!.Version: 10.3.2

Lots of learning methodsI’ve been a CFI for 25 years. Decided to finally upgrade to CFII. I looked and tried numerous other programs. I’m really impressed with Dauntless and their learning products, specifically the IFR test prep. Whether flash cards or formatted tests, the layout and ability to learn in a way comfortable to you is very useful..Version: 10.3.2

Awesome AppI have tried to use other applications to help me study for various FAA tests but they would have outdated questions or it would only be a final test and not help with the preparation of the test. I believe that the work that was put into this app but all the other apps that they have made is extremely well thought out and done in a fashion that makes it easy for the user to customize what they need to study for and what they are having trouble remember for the test. They also have amazing customer support for any questions that you have or any problems you have with the app. I would recommend this app to anyone who wants to study for an FAA test and be able to study anywhere at anytime..Version: 10.3.2

BUY ITUsed this software for my IRA. I enjoyed that it sorted questions I got correct and ones I got incorrect. I appreciated that it gave an explanation so I learned what the correct answer was and why. Once I was consistently getting results in the 90’s I took the written and got an 88%. I reviewed and found two questions that I didn’t read close enough. My mistake dropped my score; if I would have slowed down read and understood clearly what they were asking I would have got in the 90’s just like with the pre-test. I plan on using this software for commercial and CFII. I have several people I know who are students and I have guided them towards this software for their PPL. Don’t hesitate just buy it; worth the price. I would recommend checking their website for bundles if you plan on getting two or three ratings. Fly safe!.Version: 10.3.2

Terrific test bank softwareThe explanations are top notch and the question distribution will easily show you on which topics you need to concentrate. They also update the material regularly..Version: 10.2.4

Instrument and CFII reviewThe Dauntless instrument review software is excellent. I’m using it to review for my CFII written, which requires that I essentially take the instrument written again… but it’s been a long time since the first time, and quite a lot has changed (or been forgotten). The questions, I understand, come directly from the actual tests. Some of the questions are ambiguous or vague, which make it especially important to understand ahead of time what they’re getting at. The explanations are logical and well written; I appreciate the direct, no-nonsense approach. And of course the cost is a big plus… much less expensive than other courses I’ve looked at. Highly recommended..Version: 10.3.2

Solid Learning AppI an enjoying learning the Instrument Ground test with this system. I like seeing the correct answer as soon as I answer a guest ion wrong, along with a great explanation of the correct answer. Five a Thumbs up!.Version: 10.3.2

IFR written ground schoolGreat program. Easy to use.Version: 10.3.2

Very smooth!I purchased this app in conjunction with the PC version and truth be told, they are virtually identical. The iPad interface is very intuitive and I love the feature that allows you to go back after a finished test and retry only those questions missed. I wish the real FAA exam let you know which ones you missed! Definitely worth every penny and I will be getting the commercial version as soon as I ace, with the help of this software, my instrument written. Way to go Dauntless!.Version: 8.7

Passed my airplane instrument writtenI purchased the Instrument Rating Airplane app from the app store a few weeks ago and started using it immediately i enjoyed the different methods of questioning and honestly used them all from flash cards through test simulator- the question stack is a really great tool also and i used that quite a bit as well as it served as a reminder for me about which questions i had missed on past occasions which was helpful After studying for about three weeks in my spare time, I took my written airplane instrument knowledge test in allentown pa yesterday and scored a 97 in about 45 minutes of the two questions i got wrong, one was a simple mistake on my part and i over thought the answer and the other was a question i have never seen before about avionics and ifr certifications so i can say with confidence that your question database of around 1100 questions is thorough and largely complete I will be back for the commercial airplane written test prep Paul.Version: 10.3.2

Fantastic App to have as an all in one!I recently purchased this great app, and found it very easy to learn from, and really like the instant explanations which holds plenty of great ways for me to learn how I missed the questions, with lots and lots of details that are easy to understand. I have purchased other Apps and books but most of them make me study in a way that I lose interest in short period of time. While Dauntless App makes me feel challenged yet engaged in an attention grabbing good way. Thank you Dauntless!!!.Version: 10.3.2

Five star in in every wayI purchased the dauntless training system for the instrument rating exam upon the recommendation of a friend who is a corporate pilot. I had no idea that it is so much better than I even expected. I hold an amateur extra license as a ham radio operator. There are three exams leading up to the amateur extra which is the most difficult. It is actually a nightmare, however using a system similar to Dauntless I aced the test. That was proof that this methodology works for me. When I bought the system, I came to see that it is more comprehensive and more thorough than I ever even anticipated. I have not yet taking the instrument rating test, but I am 100% confident that after putting in a few hours with the dauntless system, I will walk out of there with a 100%, and you can bet that you will find a follow up review once I've done that :-).Version: 9.6.11

Recommend this to all of my studentsI recommend All of the dauntless test prep apps to my private, commercial and instrument students. You cannot go wrong using their apps..Version: 10.3.2

Superb training but bad GUIThe best IFR training app out there for sure. Tons of questions and 99% of the time explanations not only get right to the point, but go the extra mile. Why not 5 stars then you say? To be honest, the GUI (graphical user interface) is just bad. It's inconsistent, looks outdated, and some simple things like overlapping your cellular/wifi/time/battery bar on top. The study material is of quality, I think it deserves a quality interface..Version: 9.6.3

Great Study PartnerThis app is awesome! A huge bank of questions and each have a great explanation of the answers. Easy to understand graphics and pictures to help you learn the subject matter. It was my go to study aid before my written test. Now I'm going to check out their "Ride Ready" check ride prep app. Thanks..Version: 9.6.3

Up to dateI really appreciate the developers efforts in bringing current questions, legends, and figures into the curriculum which made my score of 97 on the IRA knowledge test possible..Version: 10.3.2

Exactly what I neededOver the course of my flying career I've used most all the FAA test prep products from the Gleim books to the Sporty's CDs to the King videos. I found this application to be just what I needed - portable, complete, easy to use, no software glitches, adjustable to my study pace and inexpensive. I purchased the app for my iPad and studied leisurely over the summer, on vacation, at the pool, on business trips, and in the evenings. I easily passed my CFII and Instrument Ground Instructor tests using this app. Most of the explanations are outstanding and have proven to be a great resource even after the test. Pros: -Works great on the iPad -Explanations and figures are outstanding -Same format and figures you get on the real FAA Test -Different learning modes are great - flash card, continuous, quiz etc. Cons: -Got a flight planning question on the FAA test (one that requires lots of calculations) that wasn't in the app. Got it wrong - the developer site says this can happen i.e. The FAA can spring a new question on you that GroundSchool hasn't yet published. -I wish the iPad app had a question search function like the desk top app does..Version: 9.5.3

I passed!I used this for my PPL written a couple of years ago and I passed with a 95...it made it easy and convenient to study....just pull out the iPad on some down time and learn! Using it now for my IFR and am loving it again. The new "audio playback" feature is the frosting on the cake...listen to the questions and answers while driving, walking the dog, getting ready in the morning, driving...how convenient! Customer service is top notch, too. I couldn't find an answer to a question in the knowledge base, so I submitted a question through their online form and received a response within a few hours - very nice. Highly recommended app!.Version: 9.5.2

Great training toolJust started using this app. Very convenient and simple to use. Since all of the FAA questions are the same for all apps, what you really want is a system that has a great training program built in and a useful interface. This one is great!.Version: 9.4

Excellent For Test PrepAfter several years of starting and stopping studying for the IFR test, I finally took it and passed with the great help of this App. Although I used the King video series for my primary study, it was the repeated practice of going through the test questions, that gave me both the knowledge and confidence to take and pass the IFR written with a score of 92%! Thanks, I couldn't have done it without you. Randy Thomure N9782C - C56.Version: 8.7

FantasticFantastic app for studying for your FAA IFR written exam. I was debating between the PC version and the iPad version. I am really glad I chose the iPad version. I find studying more comfortable using the iPad than a PC. Plus I can run the same app on my iPhone for a quick study session. I was worried the exam figures would be hard to see and manipulate on the iPad platform. But that is not a problem. I have not found any issues at all with using the iPad over a PC/Mac. Plus the app has a really nice system of categorizing already answered problems. All problems are first placed in category 3. If you answer the question correct, the question is moved to a lower category (i.e. category 4). Answer incorrect and the question is upgraded to a category 2. Over time the questions you find "easy" fall to category 5 while questions you frequently get wrong float to the top. You can then tell the program to only give you questions which are in category 1 and 2. Once all of the questions are categorized "4 or 5", go take the test. I do have one suggestion for a future release: I wish the app had a way to "write" on the test figures. Or at least a scratch page for drawling out the problem..Version: 9.0

Overall very nicePassed written test with flying colors, a 93%. Overall a very useful and positive product. Be sure you know your material well and do not just memorize the answers because some questions on actual test were cleverly re-worded, used different figures, and contained correct answers used in other actual test questions to confuse the memorization type studyers. Very pleased with layout and question "stacks". Will purchase again for future ratings..Version: 9.3

95 on Instrument Rating AirplaneI enjoyed the question stacks and great explanations for each question. First I went through the entire question bank for each individual subject. Enabling question stacks will keep track of the questions you get wrong and it will keep asking them until you consistently get them right. After completing the entire bank of questions, I selected all of them and would do the 60 question practice tests. I did a lot of practice tests... Some questions on the real exam were worded differently, but dauntless taught me the material instead of brute memorization. Tips: -Save the test before you submit for grading, I had the app crash on me a couple of times. -Start with one subject at a time. -Go through the entire bank with each question graded immediately. -End with the 60 question practice tests. Good luck, you got this!.Version: 10.3.2

I reloaded the app and it's still not working!I have a test coming up soon, I loved it when it was working, latest update crashed it.. I tried everything the support mentioned. Still blank on the answers.Version: 9.6.2

Best explanations...needs scratchpadThis app has better explanations and illustrations than the Sporty's app (which was my favorite and is still a better app for understanding the "distractor" answers). One thing it needs is a scratchpad icon on the bottom toolbar that would bring up a blank drawing surface to let you work out problems. Otherwise you still have to have paper handy when you study..Version: 8.7

Excellent IFR prepThere are some apps that basically just feed you the answers. This one stands head and shoulders above those since it actually provides deep explanations. Plus, it's fast and easy to use. Ever since we've gone over to ground school from Asa, our students' study and knowledge has noticeably improved..Version: 8.3

Scored 90 on my Airplane Instrument todayThe app has some awesome features that will really help you concentrate on your weak areas. Pick "all questions with no charts" for quick learning of IFR information, but definitely study and read the explanations. You can mark questions that need extra attention. The "stack" feature helps sort problematic questions. Reason for 4 stars.... there were about 4 questions I hadn't seen, nor read anything about on the actual test. A lot of the questions weren't verbatim, but close. The changes to the FAA test bank showed, you have to do a little more than just memorize the questions in the app. This app has approximately a 1200 question database. Hard to not recommend making a 90 today..Version: 10.2.4

IFR ground schoolBuy it. Best of the interactive courses. I listen when not doing the online course or practice test. Listen while driving or walking Ned, Tucson Az.Version: 10.3.2

FAA InstrumentFantastic study aid. Fully prepared me for the exam..Version: 9.5.8

Great ProductI was unsure about using Dauntless at first as the year prior I used Gleim for my private pilot test. However as I began to use Dauntless I understood it was a far superior product. Dauntless aids you in learning the material rather than just rope memorization. So when you go online and read that you need to buy Sheppard Air to pass the IFR test don’t believe it. I took my test back in December of 2018 and scored a 90% on it. It is nice having the portability of an app that you can use whether or not you have an internet connection. Dauntless has a system in place called question stacks that helps you master the questions you aren’t getting right, and I truly encourage the use of that feature as the night prior to my test I went through all my lowest stacks did about 300 questions and on the test the next day saw 10 questions from the bank I had done just the previous night. Overall great product and would recommend..Version: 10.3.2

Love the app, but...Cloud servers are unavailable for 2nd day in a row. Not a big deal until you launch the app and it's stuck for a minute until connection to server times out. This is really annoying. Either fix your servers or make that call in the background so you don't block people. After two weeks with the app, took my IFR test and scored 98% I did read the book and attended ground school classes, but this app gave me confidence and helped score much higher than I would without it. Having practiced with the same reference material as on the test, allowed me to quickly identify what I was looking for. Questions and answers on the test were slightly different, so make sure you understand the answer, not just memorize it. And the most important for last: question stacks boost learning like crazy - best part of the app..Version: 10.3.2

Great test prepThis app is great for test prep. It is perfect for pilots who already have the basic knowledge and need to prep for the exam quickly. Use the stacks feature to focus study on areas you have trouble with. The updates seem to have fixed several glitches with getting updates..Version: 9.3

A joy to useGreat graphics, well written explanations, quick updates, and options for how to review questions. Used their line of prep material for COM and CFI and am now working on CFII. Be sure to purchase the add-on audio presentation, load it on your smartphone, and make those endless commuting hours productive. Both the test prep and audio add-on are BARGAINS!!!.Version: 9.5.5

My 95% speaks for itself!Only studied using this app for my test and loved it! Not only because it actually had a lot of the same questions in the real test, but also because of the detailed explanation of each answer. Got a 95% on my test, I was able to review a lot of concepts and even cleared up some existing doubts. Thank you Dauntless!.Version: 9.5.6

Ifr prepOne of the best pilot exam preparation apps that I have seen. I have tried some of the apps from Sportys kings and Shepard and found that Dauntless software is the most straightforward package out there. I use the software on my iPad and on my iPhone. It allows me to constantly stay informed with the current FAA exam questions as I prepare for my Instrument exam day. The customer support is great I just sent them an email today and they responded the same day. Top-notch support..Version: 10.3.2

I doubted it at firstI was hesitant to spend so much on an app to help me study, but I studied for a week and got a 92% and the questions I got wrong were because I second guessed myself. Aviation is expensive, but compared to the cost of flying and even taking the written... This is nothing. Worth every penny. Having it at the convenience of your iPad.... Priceless. I only wish there was a way to make a practice test of 60 questions from any category..Version: 8.7

Superb ifr prepThe negative reviewers here must surely be competitors planting fake reviews, since the app is awesome. The update works great, the interface is crisp, and, most importantly, the question explanations are rich and illustrated, unlike the useless ones in the other app out there. I scored a 100% on my instrument rating airplane and flight instructor instrument airplane using only this app..Version: 8.2

An actual ifr prep, not a generic appThere seem to be three types of test prep apps on iTunes: 1. Apps from people you've never heard of who use plagiarized old test banks to make generic "multiple choice" apps. 2. Apps from sporty and Asa who you have heard of but whose apps leave a lot to be desired in the content and features department and 3. This dauntless superior app. Did it cost a bit more? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely. This is the only app that is an actual prep.. The quality of the explanations is outstanding. I felt I really could learn the material and not just stupidly memorize. Their update is free for life... It's actually the only FAA test app that I saw that even has an update! I submitted a note to them of a typo and was pleasantly surprised to find it fixed 2 days later after an update. These guys obviously care a lot about their product. Finally to the guy who said if crashed a few times... I found if my iPhone is on a long time or if I run too many apps ANY app can crash. Rebooting the phone fixes this. I have had no crashing at all and I have a slightly older iPhone 3GS. This is the best app I have ever seen for iPhone. I scored a 98 on my IFR written after using it. Whoohoo!.Version: 8.5
