Pictello Visual Stories for Positive User Reviews

Benefits for all...This is by far one of the most useful apps on the market for children and adults with special needs. In fact, all children can benefit from this app. I have recommended this app to typical preschool teachers for those difficult to learn rules like "waiting in line", "keeping hands to yourself", etc...all the way to using with severely impaired adults on independent living skills like, "washing your hair" and "brushing your teeth." Super simple to navigate and LOVE the ability to share stories between multiple pictello users. This makes for an extremely functional social story app. HIGHLY recommend..Version: 1.3

Great little appWe are using this to make talking picture albums so my daughter can show and tell people about things in her life. Very easy to use. It has a wizard mode that guides you step by step to create a story and an expert mode if you want more options. The voices are very nice ( female Heather for my daughter) and when it pronounced a name wrong, the editor let me fix it..Version: 1.1.1

Excellent toolI have over 600 apps on my iTunes account and this is hands down my favorite! I have a twenty year old son who has autism and I work with many students who have special needs from prek to age 21 post high school. This app is great for receptive learning. It can be used to make talking storybooks, social stories also for teaching skills step by step. It can also be used expressively as a tool for writing as it allows students to pair their writing with a visual. It also allows written output to be broken into smaller more manageable chunks. An added benifit is students can work on reading fluency when they record their stories . It is a great tool for individuals who ate non verbal to relate experiential stories to share on a social level. We have also used this app for vocabulary development making talking flashcards. There are so many good uses for this app I could go on and on. A must have app if you are a teacher!!!.Version: 1.5

Awesome App!My son is 19 and has Autism, non-verbal. This is a terrific way for him to now have a picture schedule for each day of the week. The technology is easy to use just as with Assistiveware's Proloquo2Go. Pictello allows me to create his schedule just as you would a story so he know exactly what he will do from the moment he gets up until the moment he goes to bed. In addition we can now create outing stories for him to share with his peers at school, he is the only non-verbal in his class. I have already set up Proloquo2go to facilitate two-way-conversation so now a story book for him to share is great! No more velcro pictures for this house! This is the way of the future! Love this product!!!.Version: 1.3

Wonderful app with a lot of uses!!!This app is wonderful and has so many uses for it. My special needs children use it all the time for social skills and as a story board when we are going somewhere :).Version: 1.4

A must for ECE teachersGreat app, so easy to use either in class with students or at home preparing a reading text. It can be a great way to consolidate learning on a topic as you can print out the books and add them to your class bookshelf..Version: 1.5

Simply WonderfulThis is a great way to create a simple social story in 5-10 minutes. All I did was take so e photos of the student, upload them to the app and add the text. Saves me so much time from printing and laminating! This is a great use in my speech therapy room and even in our social cog classes..Version: 1.1.1

Could be a great app...This could be a great app but there are some major problems with it, first and foremost being that there is no way to edit a story once you have created it. So make sure it's perfect the first time or you'll hav to start all over again....Version: 1.5

Lots of useI have this for the ipod. It is useful for creating personal stories, doing speech assessments, language therapy, and many other functions. The voice quality is not too bad and having the option to make a voice recording is good. It is easy to program. I find the size of photos a bit small, and it would be good if the font could be bigger and in different styles for younger children learning to write. I would like the option of being able to share books written from ipod to ipod etc..Version: 1.2.1

Time tested excellenceAwesome app! I have recommended this app to 100% of my clients during consults/trainings with individuals that have unique challenges. I also demonstrate it at every workshop/ presentation that I do. Everyone loves the possibilities it holds….social stories, teaching tasks step by step, sharing with classmates and so much more!.Version: 1.5.1

Use this app daily for lots of activitiesThis app has allowed more independence. Teaching speech and developing language. Creating our own stories. Making stories with more visuals. Step by step recipes that he can cook independently. Step by step instructions to follow for other day to say activities to create independence. Can be as creative as you like..Version: 3.7.2

Just when I thought it couldn't get any better! We were already so in love with this app…and then it happened, now you can add videos! We love it because it is so easy to use for myself and for my very highly impacted, nonverbal 11 yr old with autism. She never had any interest before of looking at pictures of her family or of social stories, I just don't think she saw the need. Now, after putting family albums and some motivating stories about her fav foods, she's hooked!:) I thought she'd only want to look at certain ones, but she goes through them all, over and over, even the social stories, like Going to the Dentist! I'm amazed at her response and so pleased! But now, with videos, when I added videos of her bowling to her story about her very first time bowling and of her playing in the water at the beach, I can't even describe her face! She grinned from ear to ear and then was just giddy! Now, that is priceless!!.Version: 2.0

A great new way to tell a story!I have a very bright, but severely physically handicapped daughter who loves to read and loves to tell stories. With Pictello, Nichole can share her favorite stories by taking the pictures she collects and adding the way she wants to talk about them into telling a story. It gives her voice and the ability to share her most favorite stories and events over and over. We have also used it to show people the power of social stories and scripting difficult situations with excellent results. Whether used as a talking photo album, a photo blog, or one of many educational purposes, this is a great app!.Version: 1.1.1

Simply the best!As a school-based SLP, I use this app all the time and have made sure that my district downloads it onto all of my students' personal IPads. A must have if you work with students who have autism or other NVLD..Version: 1.2.1

Good app!My brother's speech teacher first discovered this app and my dad downloaded this app to help my bro and I downloaded it for fun. I like creating stories! 5 stars!.Version: 1.3

Very easy to useThis is a very easy, intuitive app. We always put photos from our trips on the ipad. Now, it's easy for us to create a story about trips with this app. We like the "Heather" voice. I'm thinking it might be a great app to do adapted stories for my daughter's language arts school work - may be easier than what I currently do with PPT. It would be awesome if down the road the text could be highlighted as it reads. That would be the icing on the cake!.Version: 1.1.1

Great app for Social StoriesI am an SLP and mother to a 7-year-old with autism, and I use this all the time to write Social Stories for my daughter about places we will visit and things we will do. I love that I can write the stories on my iPad and very easily upload them to hers. It takes me an average of 10-20 minutes to do a story, depending on if I already have the pictures or need to go find them on Google. This has saved us a lot of money because I don't have to print the stories and laminate them anymore..Version: 1.5

Love it!Pictello has become a communication bridge between home and daycare centre/preschool for us and our ASD daughter. Her carers and ourselves make story books about her day, which she will then speak about. App is easy and quick to use. Is improving language and comprehension skills, as well as connecting us all ensuring consistency. Brilliant! Only upgrade possible would be ability to export as a movie to share with those who don't have iPads or the app. Huge thanks!.Version: 2.1

Excellent app for social stories and job coaching!I am a Speech-Language Pathologist and I specialize in Augmentative and Alternative communication. I recommend this app all the time for students to use for social stories/scripts as well as for "job coaching" where you can quickly lay out the steps of a task! I have tried many other book creation apps and always come back to this app as my favorite because it is so easy to program and does everything I want it to do! The newest addition of the American kid voices is an excellent bonus feature that the developer added at no extra cost! Love it!.Version: 1.5

Great appAs a language teacher, i find that this app is awesome. The only problem is that u cannot use audio from your ipad and put it the stories, or use a custom font (vital for language teachers), i like the new updates and hope the issues can be resolved . 5stars nonetheless, great for stories..Version: 1.6

The other part to successful AACMy mum is writing this: I have purchased this so that my daughter can fulfill her very social activity of telling people stories about her life. As a non-verbal young adult she has a lot of stories and thoroughly loves telling them. Our most recent story is about a trip to Germany. She loved telling her friends and family. The ability to make and share a story within minutes with up to date/on scene pictures is great. Pictello pulls all the parts together - picture sound and text - to allow my daughter to remember all the fun aspects of an event - a story - in her life. I have used this programme on iPod touch and iPad, although with iPad I send photos/pics from my iPhone to her email and then develop the story on her iPad. Also love the sharing feature to send the story to other Pictello users. And of course, receive their stories to read/play over and over..Version: 1.1.1

I’ve been using for years!I love this app. Very easy to use. I’ve made multiple social stories from potty training to playing on the playground- I love it! I also make a lot of “my favorites” stories. Recently I started having my son use it to make books for his drawings. Easy to use. Thank you!!!.Version: 3.6

Using PictelloI have had this application since it was released and for the last month on the ipad. Wow what a wonderful application. I have made up stories for my daughter to read while travelling. I have put together stories about is going on in her life so she can read with others and they can ask her questions and have a conversation with her. I have been able to put together step by step instructions for her in story form. When I dont have a picture available I go into Google Images and just copy paste into the ipad photo album. Have even made up books using photos on one page then the sign language graphic on the next page with a written description for those working with Elysha. It is so easy to use, even training the machine to say her name correctly was a breeze. Cant praise Pictello or its developers enough. Next step I would like to see the possibility of it working on smartboard - image what teachers could do with this!!!!! Mum of Elysha.Version: 1.1.1

LOVE IT!!So far everyone has rated this 5 stars. If you're like me, you are skeptical and think that friends and family are rating. Well, I am not friend or family. Just a nobody trying out this app and I love it!! I have a son with speech delays. He uses proloquo2go to communicate which is a really great and life changing app. The same developers made this app, so I had to try it. It is great! Some things we have done with it: My son loves to look at certain pictures and tries to get a verbal reaction from us. I made a story with some of his favorite pics and recorded my voice with responses he is expecting. He played them over and over, laughing like it was really me doing it! Another way I'm using it...my son is learning to make certain sounds and saying a few words. I made a "speech" story where each pays says a sound he is working on in speech. He sits practicing all by himself. It's awesome and so fun to hear him making the sounds. It's also perfect for making a story of something fun we did so he can share with teachers and classmates. Really love this app! iPad $500, Pictello $14.99, seeing and hearing the joy my son gets from using it...absolutely priceless! Thanks assistiveware! Keep up the good work!.Version: 1.1.1

LauraI figured this app. would rock given its from AssistiveWare but my son and I had a great time with it first time out. He is non verbal but has a lot to say and loves pictures. He enjoyed putting together his first "book" and showing it to anyone who would look, including his dog. :-) Awesome app!.Version: 1.2

Pictello is tops.Used this program to do a visual sequence for my autistic son on his ipad. He really hasn't taken to other apps with any degree of interest, but was quite taken with the simplicity of this program. He loved the photos with basic text. I used my own voice to record a message for each page. Loved this option. Program included an easy to follow sequence of how to create your own stories. A great basic help to start using the program. Liked the option of using the slideshow option or moving each page individually. You can go through the sequence using the slide show initially and then do each step of the sequence step by step. Would have liked the option of inserting pages within the context of the story, rather than just adding on extra pages at the end. Great to be able to share stories and email. Lots of different options there. Thank you. I will definitely use this for social stories. More reliable and easier to navigate through than some other communication apps that I have used..Version: 1.4

Great peer interactionMy son who is in middle school loves to use this to share with friends, we've made stories about camping trips, going to lake, cousins visiting. The most popular one is "kids at school". His peers love to see pics of themselves and he loves that they want to. My son has some cognitive deficits and can not build the stories himself, it only takes me about 5 minutes to make him an 8 to 10 page story. This app is easy to use "on the fly"if you have an iPad 2. The additional step of importing pics into an iPad 1 does deter me from using it on that device (we have both iPads ). The app is reasonably glitch free and I highly recommend it..Version: 1.3

Wonderful AppVery easy to use and create "stories". This App allowed my 5 yr. old son with severe Apraxia to tell his class what he did over the weekend by himself on his IPad! I can also email his stories to his teacher and she can upload them onto his IPad at school. AssistiveWare also makes Proloquo2go that is fabulous for kids w/Apraxia. This App is definately worth the price!!!!!.Version: 1.2.1

Love thisHi this is a great app to prepare social stories for students with autism. You can use pictures you take with iPad instantly after you take them. You can add words and voices to pictures!.Version: 1.6

That was nice.So I found your app, and then on 2/5/2020, I came up with an idea! I decided to make Education For US Money! It took probably 30 minutes to make! My mom paid $18.99! While the app was downloading I was using the camera to take pictures for it it was amazing! I could probably educate kids about money now a days! Just great. I mean seriously!.Version: 3.7

Mpitt-special educator-AustraliaPictello is a great app for creating social stories and individual event logs. Really easy to use, even our special needs students have created their own stories with minimal assistance. The results are fantastic and very satisfying and empowering for them. (Fun for staff too)..Version: 1.5

Intuitive and usefulWe are a demo and loaner program in the State of Maine. We've loaded Pictello onto several iPads and iPold Touch devices. We have had numerous requests to borrow our devices from educators and SLPs. The ease of use for creation of social stories and talking books is amazing. Thanks to AssistiveWare for creating such a dynamic and easy to use application..Version: 1.1.1

PictelloPictello is the easiest way to create talking picture books or social stories for a wide range of learners. The step by step Wizard mode is simple to follow for both staff and parents. The text to speech capabilities are great but the ability to add your own voice or that of your students is what makes this special. Having the ability to add your own pictures to personalize these stories is key for many of the students I work with. Nothing like a talking book about you! Great app and well worth the cost..Version: 1.1.1

Terrific!!!This app is so user friendly and is very well done in all respects! The sample stories are quite motivating and are fun to show others tool! I recommend this app for anyone who wants to easily share vacation stories especially! Great value for the price also!.Version: 1.1.1

Must have for parent-educatorI use this app to create realistic simple reading stories to teach reading, comprehension, new academic and social skills to my seven years old autistic son for one month along with joint attention and symbolic play and I found it so helpful. I wish it came with the PECs data base that Prolo2go had to make it easier (I use my iPhone version to take picture instead and transfer story to my iPad..problem would be solved w Ipad2 or addition of PECs pictures data base)...TN MD.Version: 1.2.1

My Stories. This was just the App I was looking for.....Able to write Stories of what my daughter has been doing..whether in the day at night on weekends away on holidays,I even made step by step recipes...it's great that you can read or it will read...Just the best App.Love it...love it..Version: 1.5

Fun and easy to use app.The app allowed my daughter to participate more fully in her kindergarten class. The app is easy to use. I was able to set up short stories in minutes which enables her friends to get to know her better which is hard when your non verbal. The first story we prepared was from her 6th birthday party she can't wait to share more..Version: 1.2

FAB!!!!!We thought pictello was a reallly good way of telling someone the story of not only a trip out, but about your life, and what you like to do for fun etc. It is good because it can bring back memories of holidays, and trips out. Also it is so so so simple to use, and very good for people of all ages, especially those who may find it harder to communicate. Finally, we think this is definitely worth the price, and that is why we rate it five stars!.Version: 1.2.1
