Rush Limbaugh for Negative User Reviews

Love Rush, but this app is not fit for purposeAs a subscriber, I loved being able to get my Rush Limbaugh in the form of downloaded podcasts I could listen to at twice the normal speed, and which contained only the content, no music or other non-content. I am now unable to get the show in podcast form at all, and whilst the old Rush app was bad enough, the new one is dire. I would so much rather have an app that has few features and WORKS than a fancy-looking one that doesn’t work at all. It is sheer torture to attempt to listen to the show via the ‘on demand’ part of the app. It keeps telling me I don’t have WiFi and to turn on cellular streaming but (1) I do have WiFi, and (2) I also have cellular streaming turned on, and it still has trouble. Can we PLEASE have the show available as a podcast subscription again? I have wasted HOURS today trying to get this app to play the show. Much as I love Rush I can’t renew my subscription if this is not solved. Very disappointed..Version: 3.3

App needs serious improvementsJust trying to get to the latest show is a chore, clicking or scrolling past all the snippets I don't need or want to listen to. Audio podcasts should be the priority. No iPod or Bluetooth controls means I can't control the app and audio at all when the phone is locked or from my connected Bluetooth device. The app consistently loses its place, requiring you to start from the beginning or try to scrub through to where you were. There is no speed control for playback so you are forced to listen to the entire show in actual time. These are all basic features of mediocre podcast apps, the level of which this doesn't even rise to. I'm not planning to renew my subscription unless some of these features are implemented. The developer obviously thinks this app is eye candy with all the graphics and flash. I don't want or need the video. Make that a separate app or just allow me to subscribe to the podcast content so I can playback via the native podcast app. This app is borderline garbage and turning off Rush listeners/subscribers..Version: 4.5

Agree with RonJon12 EXCEPTI don’t mind the ads and if the sliding navigation bar within each episode worked dependably and accurately, then the ads would not be a problem for those who desired to skip them. That navigation bar is really disappointing!!! I was predisposed to like the new app because everything Rush does is excellent! But this app is “Not Ready for Prime Time”. BTW: I use an iPhone 7+ 128G. At the time of this writing, I cannot even get the app to open fully, i.e., the “EIB” begins to fill in Gold, L to R, but it quits 2/3 of the way across the letters. So the app won’t open. I have deleted the app, then rebooted the iPhone, then downloaded the app again, then rebooted post download, numerous times. The app will not open in my phone any more. . . . Now just barely okThis app has been upgraded from unusable to okay. Still slow, sometimes unresponsive..Version: 2.1.31

Podcasts don’t always start; it just spins and spinsHave tried 3 times with Rush Support team for help playing podcasts. Each time I was told to delete app and download it again. Still continue to only get one hour of listening and the other two will not play(and yes I have all the correct app settings). Love the app as far as all the content and because it is Rush. Nobody is better than Rush but I don’t understand why this app is so difficult to play in podcast mode. I choose to “play all” and hour one plays, then it goes to hour two and all I get is a little spinning circle like it is trying to download. Strangely I can listen in on demand mode but then I have to listen to commercials. If it wasn’t for this problem I would give the app 5 stars..Version: 4.6

Worst appEvery few months I open the Rush Limbaugh app because Rush keeps touting it as the best possible app ever. Every time I open it, (on a fully updated iPad Pro) I find nothing good and frustrating user experience. Today I opened the app and the app lands on the ditto cam - no visible controls to get out of this or go to a menu. Minutes later, I find podcast directory and think - yea, this is what I need the app for - only to find that the most recent podcast available is one week ago! If you can’t make the podcasts readily available, what is the point? If I could give no stars, I would because this app is worthless to me. I suggested this before- make an app dedicated to subscribers for podcasts only - please! Meanwhile I will download the podcasts the old fashioned, reliable way with an RSS feed. Just wish Rush would stop saying this app is so wonderful - it isn’t and nit worth the time or space..Version: 4.4

Not so greatToo cluttered, too hard to navigate. Like many others, I missed out on shows because of the “cellular streaming “ issue when listening in the car. I found the answer here in the reviews, but it just goes to show how user unfriendly this new app is. I also miss the summaries of each hour. I loved that the old app kept playing when going out of the app and that it started back up exactly where I left off when I stopped. I also don’t really like the look, it’s too dark for Rush’s bright personality. *** edit: ALSO very important to me, PLEASE upload completed hours as soon as possible as you did before. With the new app, you can either listen live on the actual day of the broadcast, or have to wait till the next day to be able to listen to hours 1-3 in their entirety. Please start uploading completed hours on the same day like you used to!!! Thanks!.Version: 3.3

Shameful app from the Apple fanboyWhat is the point of being able to download the podcasts if you have to have internet to listen to your downloaded files. You can keep listening after you lose signal, but you better have at least a decent 3G to start playback. Every time my signal is low I get an error message about 99.8% sure there was a problem. You also have to wait for 5 minutes for the app to realize you don’t have internet before allowing you to change categories. There is also no way to refresh the available downloads, so every day you have to physically shut down the app and restart for every podcast as they become available. I’ve been a subscriber to Rush 24/7 for 14 years. Live overseas so have to download the podcasts. Podcast app on iTunes stopped updating so forced to try this stupid app..Version: 4.4

There is a podcast workaround!I was disappointed by the Rush Limbaugh app's podcast features, but found a great workaround. It seems to have a half dozen problems on iPhone. It'll refuse to play sometimes, it'll refuse to show you where it is on what it is playing (constant spinney wheel), it won’t update the list of casts without force closing and re-opening, the "swipe down refresh" doesn't seem to do anything that is common in all apps. However I found a great workaround. Log into your Rush 24x7 on a computer, then go to the podcasts section, at the top of that there's a link to simply add the podcast to iTunes. Copy that link, and email it to yourself, then on your phone add that link to your clipboard and download overcast, in overcast (one of the most popular podcast apps, add it manually using the link and it will ask you for your Rush 24x7 login. Once you are done doing that you are all set and can use overcast for the podcasts!.Version: 4.4

Garbage..Version: 1.6

A terrible user experienceThis app is not user friendly at all. I have been a subscriber for over 5 years, and just paid nearly $80 to renew my membership for this. I am a life long Rush listener and his content is as good as ever, but I am at my wit’s end with this app. My only reason for paying for the subscription is to be able to listen to the show commercial free at anytime. This app constantly buffers, it randomly crashes therefore losing its spot, it is not recognized as an audio source on the phone so there is no playback menu, the sliding bar to fast forward/rewind rarely works, and when you get a phone call, you have to manually go back into the app and wait for it to load for it to continue playing. When one hour of the program ends, you also have to go into the app to manually play the next hour. These issues have been going on for months. I have emailed support multiple times with the same response of “we are aware but there is no time frame for a fix”. It is so disappointing that Rush finds this poor product to be acceptable for paying subscribers. These bugs have been ongoing for months, and there seems to be no sense of urgency to deliver a functional user experience..Version: 4.3

Not a fan of the new appI like the old app as it was easier to navigate and find what I am looking for unlike the new app. To me, the new Rush 24/7 app is a very poor app. I like the old Rush 24/7 app so much more because it is very user-friendly. The menu was easy to understand and I could always find what I needed. Either make the new app easier to navigate like the old one, or bring back the old one back! I instead use the podcast app that came with my iPod for the Rush Limbaugh podcasts. I get hours 1, 2, & 3 and the morning update with no hassle like people get with the new 24/7 Rush Limbaugh app. I don’t like how the new app plays the podcasts. I listen to the podcasts when I go to bed and don’t like the screen lit up while it is playing. If I turn off the screen, then the podcast stops playing. I don’t get that hassle with the iPod podcast app. At least I can turn off the display, hook up my headphones, and play hours 1, 2, & 3 in the dark as I go to sleep listening to the podcasts play. So much better than hassling with the new Rush 24/7 app!.Version: 4.4

Disappointing from 25-yr. Ditto HeadRush, I love you and love your show. I’ve been listening since 1993. I, too, am an Apple guy and an iPhone guy. This new app is bitterly disappointing; I can’t sugar coat it. You, too should be disappointed. I echo all of the laundry-list technical company jaunts you have been hearing. This app makes it difficult and frustrating to simply listen to the show, which is all I really care about and why I am a Rush 24/7 subscriber. Please figure it out and fix the app. It is not up to your high standard at all. Please make it so I can DOWNLOAD the show; that is what truly constitutes a PODCAST. Streaming your show while tethered to your website (requiring internet access) is NOT a podcast. That is called streaming. Please don’t insult our intelligence by referring to this frustrating procedure as a “podcast” because you know better. BTW, as of today on my iPhone 6+ with iOS 12.1.5 installed, I am UNABLE to open the app. Same on my iPad mini. Tried deleting the app and now it won’t re-install. Please get it together, Rush. I’m embarrassed for you..Version: 3.5

It’s the show stupidWhen the majority of people using this app have always used it to access the show’s audio why would you make us change screens and scroll down and click again to open the show audio???? Once we open the audio we no longer have summaries of show topics to help us decide which episode we want to access - that doesn’t show up until after you start an episode (and then it scrolls by in tiny font with blue on a black background...cmon guys). We still don’t have a 15 sec rewind/fast forward feature after every state of the art audio player incorporated it years ago. The app forgets where you are in a program if you interrupt the playback to answer a call. The slider used to navigate within an episode does not work most of the time. This app is not an improvement for anyone who wants to listen to The Rush Limbaugh Show 24/7...and the show is the point isn’t it??? And since I’m airing complaints I’ll add mine to a few other commenters - I’m tired of paying for the show for my convenience and still having to spend a minimum of 5 minutes an episode dedicated to these live commercials for boll and branch, norton core, legacy box, simply safe, etc. It doesn’t make me interested in purchasing these products - it has the opposite effect..Version: 3.3

Very Poor ExpierenceI have been a Rush Fan since he began on radio, and have been using this app since released. It is a very poor experience. When I use it to listen live (while I walk) the amount of Bandwidth (cell usage) is extreme as compared to iHeart Radio app. In one month I consume in excess of 5GB on the Rush app, but only consume 1.5GB using the radio app. The video app constantly freezes and buffers through out the show to the point it becomes so annoying that I simply turn it off. I can no longer minimize the app to the corner of my iPad and work on something else while still watching the show live. These video related issues only began with the new version designed for IOS 13.x. I have not even bothered to try the Podcast portion of the app as I see no reason given the issues I am having with just listening and watching the live show..Version: 4.5

Giant step backwardI have listened to Rush brag about how great his new app etc and I cant help but wish I never even updated. I use this app to listen to the show audio during my commute, and with the new app this process was made more difficult as I now have to scroll around to find the audio which is buried under a bunch of videos and random sound bites. Also with this update, I lost the functionality to fast forward or rewind using my car audio controls. Using the slider in the app never works, and is not suggested while driving. Sometimes I open the app to only discover that the latest audio file is days old and have to reboot the app to get the latest. Finally, today I can’t get past the loading screen to even listen to the show. And let’s not forget the first few days the app was out where they told me my phone didn’t have cell enabled as they defaulted the setting to off and you had to randomly dig through the app to toggle cell data on, with no instruction pointing you there. If I wanted to deactivate cellular for this app, I would do it through the phone settings, not this broken app! Bring back the old app!.Version: 3.5

Kind Of Disappointed! The upgrade turned an “user friendly” app into a “user enemy” app. It used to be a couple of clicks and you were whisked away into EIB nirvana but no more. Now I spend my time waiting for the app to load up then scroll through the segment options to finally get to the podcast-click on the podcast-whoops I’m on cellular data so have to back out to the settings-turn off the cell data-then click back in to the podcast but now it freezes so I have to close down the app-open it back up-scroll back down to the podcast screen and load the hour segment I want. Get the picture? I waste more time in this app then any other app I have. Not sure what the app engineers were thinking of when they upgraded this one. What a piece of junk! If it wasn’t for the host and how much I love Rush I’d unload this thing in a heartbeat!.Version: 3.5

App freezes on start screenI can't use the app any more, although I would. It stops 3/4ths through the splash screen and freezes. I hope they are working on this. The app won't load at all in airplane mode. Crashes immediately. Tried to remove and re-download...also restarted my phone. Still same splash screen fail. If it ever gets fixed, I also don't like that I have to flip through a screen and scroll a view just to get to the podcasts. I also wish the podcasts were in release order than by day, hr1, 2,3...hard to find out what is next to hear when missing a couple days and trying to catch up. There should be some indication that a podcast was played. Also, if I leave the app for a day, and was in the middle of a podcast, the app restarts and I end up flipping through the list trying to figure out where I left off. Takes too long. You should keep track of what is currently being listened to(plus where it last left off, and return to that place). The reload-refresh is terrible because of this. Poor user experience because of this. I know you want to pass new stuff as soon as it's available, but it shouldn't be at the expense of returning to where you left off. This must improve..Version: 3.5

Two thumbs downDisaster. Just like your radio show, Rush. Download this app for right-wing propaganda from one of America's largest embarrassments. Go Obama..Version: 1.0

App doesn’t work! Please refund my 24/7 membership fees!I LOVE you Rush but your app is crap!!! I’ve had this app and have been a paying member of Rush 24/7 for about 3 years. I loved the old app, never had the first problem with it. After hearing Rush go on & on about how great the new app is i decided to update. First off it’s WAY too busy!!! Then if i don’t have all 3 WiFi bars it tells me I’m not on WiFi which is annoying. So then i heard Rush talking about the “new” update and thought that might fix the problem i was having, so i did the update. LOFL now it won’t open at all!!! I downloaded it to my iPod Touch and got to the point where i could sign in but then it shuts off. The app on my iPhone 7 won’t open at all. I’ve deleted and reinstalled 3 times and nothing! I’ve tried to call the show to complain...hahaha! Wish i had never updated to this app, but I’m hoping some one will read this and fix the dang thing!!.Version: 3.5

Needs workI wish I kept the old version. This one doesn’t spool up like the old one - lose coverage briefly and it drops out and needs to be restarted, and, the scroll bar to rewind or forward the audio playback doesn’t work properly, needs repeated slide attempts before it works. Disappointing I can’t go back to the old version that I had no issues with..Version: 3.3

App Is A Data Hog Big Time!I listen every day, and have very few problems with it. Occasionally I need to re-boot my iPhone if it's been a few days, but that's about it. You do need a good wifi connection or LTE or it may drag. You cannot easily get back to the same place, say on Day 3, hour 2, 20 minutes, you might get to 17 or 25, very hard to get to the time you left off. Also, you can't read complete description for the hours on iPhone, only first part of description. However, this version does not automatically update all the time, which was really annoying on old version. Edit: I just lowered it to one star as I cannot use it to stream shows on the road - I can’t afford it! Last month I used over 25 GIGABYTES on this app alone! Yes, that’s not a mistake. I only use the audio unless I’m a WiFi connection. Wait until other get their cell phone bill, as I’m sure it’s not just me..Version: 3.5

Not quite there yetI’m hopeful that the usefulness of this app will improve. In the old one you could always navigate inside of a segment. This one is almost impossible. I live in an area with dead signal spots from time to time. When the program stops, its next to impossible to get back to that point. The signal strength in this app is also weaker than other pod cast apps that I subscribe to. Going through a weak signal area, this app stops. In the same route, my other apps keep working. If these two issues were fixed, I would give it a much higher rating. I agree with some others about paying for a podcast and still having to listen to Rush ads. I love Rush, but surely he makes enough money from his advertisers in the breaks. I turn the sound down, but sometimes that causes me to miss part of the show. Maybe he needs to charge a couple bucks more for a premium member podcast with ZERO ads..Version: 4.2.6

Tough Love for RushRush, I love you. Sadly it’s tough love for this review. Listening to On Demand and podcasts is a horrendous experience on this app. As others have noted, you have to go and play each hour manually. Shows that are “downloaded” to the iPhone are unresponsive no matter how many times I tap the play button. Speaking of downloaded content, I swear it needs an internet connection before it will play. Scrubbing is non existent. Hitting the fifteen second rewind often gives me the dreaded spinning wheel. It never remembers where I left off listening. The lock screen? Ha! If I have the app open and am on the home page it will display on my Apple Watch/iPhone, but it’s not a guarantee. The Dittocam gets displayed over the audio content on my lock screen even though I haven’t opened it. On the plus side, the Dittocam itself always works great. Rush you are Excellence in Broadcasting. It’s time this worthless app is retooled to reflect that!.Version: 4.6

Love Rush but app remains problematicThought I’d check in to see if I was the lone wolf continuing to have issues with the app and evidently not much has changed. It remains clear this app isn’t up to the same standard of quality as the show. Same issues as others have experienced - often doesn’t want to start downloaded audio. Does seem to need an internet connection to play downloaded audio. Won’t continue to the next hour once the current hour completes. If interupted by say a phone call, it will rarely restart. Nowhere near the playback functionality, robustness and consistency of operation as Apple’s Podcasts or Audible or GoodReader or probably just about anything else out there. We’ve emailed back and forth a while ago, but again this app does NOT perform like the aformentioned apps. My expectation for something with Rush’s name on it is best in class. This app remains last in class..Version: 4.6

Audio player is WEAKThis app is not a good audio player at all. The playback interface has fewer features than a 1970s portable cassette player. I was dismayed when the podcast stopped working in my podcast app and I thought the only way to listen on the go was through this app, but it appears that the URL of the podcast just changed. If you're under the impression, as I was, that the show was no longer available to play in your own podcast app, you'll just need the "new" (as of November 2017) podcast URL, which can be found on the Rush site's Podcast page (the address on the "Get it on iTunes" link). Whew. I thought they had done away with the podcast in third party apps, and I was planning to not renew my subscription. Like I said, the audio player in this app is just bad..Version: 3.8

Please make this app useful...This app is worse than the last one, and almost useless if you live in a rural area. I haven't subscribed to 24/7 for years to get a fancy wrapper. I pay good money to listen to the podcasts. This app needs "jog" buttons (15 or 30s fwd and back) that actually work. It also needs to quit losing your place. Last AND MOST CRUCIAL for us rural folks--- you HAVE TO INCREASE the audio storage size. It actually shrank with this version. Lose your signal while listening in the car? Screw you buddy, you just lost the whole thing. No excuse for that. Audio takes up such little space the whole 39 minutes should load when you click on a segment. I work midnights and need this app to listen to the show, but if this doesn't get fixed before my 24/7 subscription expires this year-- I won't be re-upping. Why pay for something you can't use. Sad really, I love the show..Version: 3.3

50:50 chance podcast won’t play w/out rebootDie hard listener and supporter. But it must be said albeit a beautifully designed and feature rich app I battle to get the podcasts to play and this has been the case over months, app versions, networks and listening devices. It’s the app! Doesn’t matter if I’ve downloaded or am streaming the recorded show, on Wi-Fi or 3G/4G I get stuck on the “loading” screen and have to close and restart the app. I’ll leave it to load for minutes on end just to confirm but always just hangs. Also reverts to and gets stuck on loading screen if I switch my listening device during playback (e.g. switch to headphones or Bluetooth) and even when nothing changes and the app tries to load the next segment of the show. So frustrating I sometimes revert to YouTube even though I’m a paying member 🤫 Bummer.Version: 4.4

I want this to be good but it is not.I feel bad giving this such a bad review but nothing else is reasonable. I hoped the major overhaul would fix it but while it certainly is a very good looking app now, the functionality is awful. The main use of this app is to listen to the show while it isn’t live, and the media player is the worst. I can scrub forward reliably but not precisely, but there is no way at all to scrub backward while listening to the show. It is unlikely to remember my place if I pause the show for awhile, and if I miss a few seconds or want to hear something again or find my place, there are no controls for skipping forward or backward a few seconds (and again skipping backward doesn’t work at all). The show has by far the best content, but I guess I’m back to going to he Podcast section of the website in Safari on iOS, or when I can downloading the podcast and putting it in iTunes as an audiobook. Then I can skip forward, backward, and even adjust playback speed..Version: 3.8

Great content...audio player needs overhaulLove the content and excited I can access the content on demand with no advertisements. Unfortunately the audio player is awful—please fix! I’m running the latest iOS and app version on iPhone X. 80% of the time when I try to fast forward or rewind, the audio controls lock up. I can’t pause or fast forward/rewind. Only thing to get it out of a loop is to restart the app. Many times when I download the audio episodes and try listening it just goes into a loop and constantly spins. The episode will never play. I either have to restart the app or often redownload the episodes (often find this out after I’m off wi-if) None of the app audio controls work on my phone unless actually in the app. I’m unable to control from AirPods, phone home screen, or Bluetooth connectivity on my car. Very very frustrating. I have to open the app completely to pause. Since I’ve been a 24/7 member, I’ve only seen these issues temporarily resolved in a software release late last year. Unfortunately it’s back to the frustrating operation that I’ve come accustomed to. I love the content but would love to listen to the 3 hour show without restarting the app 6 times. Hope this helps in your fixes.Version: 4.5

Suddenly using gobs of data for audio onlyI use this app quite often, but recently, say the past few weeks, all of a sudden it’s using excessive amounts of data when listening to the show on audio only. I’m testing it right now on my wifi connection and playing the audio of a show for 15 minutes has used 250 megabytes of data. At that rate listening to a 3 hour show on cellular would use 3 gigabytes of data!!! Just listening to one whole show the other day used over 50% of my month’s data allocation! It’s almost as if the app is download the video stream and just not showing it to you if you select “listen” rather than “watch”. Had to disable cellular access to this app, which negates most of its usefullness..Version: 4.5.2

Less is moreFor years I was a 24/7 subscriber and listened using Downcast, a podcast player that is simple and extremely functional. Rush’s old app was ok, but not worth having because it wasn’t nearly as good as Downcast. I replaced my phone and now am forced to use the AWFUL new app because all the trash they added has made the feed unplayable in Downcast. Interestingly, the morning updates work fine- which seems to indicate (I’m talking to you here, Skyler) that it isn’t user error. It’s the crummy app. Thanks. Like other reviewers, I am frustrated about the weird interface. The whole point of subscribing is that I’m busy. I want automatic refresh when shows are published, a brief description, and the ability to listen to the whole show in two clicks. If you want to listen to the latest show you’re just screwed. I guess it now takes them a couple of days to prepare the content, so your only option is to WATCH the live show, complete with dead air/commercial breaks and without any way to easily navigate. Want to rewind a few minutes of the program? Nooooope. It will start over. Think you’re playing today’s show? Nah. One of the 15 buttons in the app was triggered by your pocket and you’ve been listening to ten minutes of a commercial break from last week. Makes me want to cancel my subscription..Version: 4.3

For my purpose, it’s messed up.Update: After developer clarification that you had to turn on CS in the app, it worked fine...until today. App won’t open. Reloaded app. Still will not open. In fact, website doesn’t work either. Cannot hear or see show or clips...zip, zero, nada. Unhappy. While it’s a redesign that looks cool, for my purposes, it’s messed up. I use the app just to listen to the show, particularly whilst out and about. But it will not play without WiFi, and failing that, I get a message to turn on cellular streaming. It’s on! In addition, the other version was much more straightforward: You opened it, it brought up a list/menu, you went where you wanted. Now, you have to scroll around to find things just like the website, which I also find confusing. IMHO this is no improvement..Version: 3.5

Great show, great content, but the new app is a cellular data pig!!!I used the old Rush 24/7 app every day for four or five years and listened to nearly eight hours is content a week using streaming while walking at lunch, driving home each day, and walking the dog at night. There was never a problem with the old app being a data pig. With the content rich new app (which is great for WiFi ONLY), I blew my cellular data plan apart just three days into the new billing cycle by merely launching the app at lunch, and then again when leaving the office. I had to buy 3 extra GB of data then skimp for the rest of the month to keep from getting hammered on my data charges. They block access to Rush where I work, so I can’t preload the content before leaving the office. Am a 24/7 Lifer (I’ll keep my subscription), but I’ve deleted it for the second time now and will never use the app on cellular data until they figure out how to be efficient for users that are primarily streaming users..Version: 3.5
