Birds of Britain Pocket Guide for Positive User Reviews

Really good for the amateurFirst off - there is a Pro version if you are really serious... ... but even if you are not, this app lists all the birds you are likely to see in the UK and provides great features for identifying them, seeing pictures (you can add your own too) and hearing how they sound! The information about the birds is very comprehensive and better that all the bird books I have accumulated over the years. Most important, I had an issue with hearing the sound, emailed the developer and got a response and resolution within half an hour - on a Sunday. Great app, great support. Highly recommended..Version: 2.1.4

Best Bird Reference GuideI have had this app for years now and it is my ‘bird bible’. Absolutely love it, so useful and always to hand when you need to identify an unfamiliar bird..Version: 2.1.4

MrUpdate has killed app for ipad1, zero stars till update for the ios its supossed to support, 4.3 and above. It’s not the developers fault.. It’s a pity Apple don’t have a back catalogue where we can reinstall the app that worked... The app works fine for later iOS’s..hence happy to re score it..Version: 2.1.4

Very good app, but...I really like this app but a cursory look showed that the Shrikes that can be seen in Britain (Red Backed and Great Grey) are missing. May find more omissions on a deeper inspection, but I hope not..Version: 2.3.0

Mr meGreat app,so so please to find and more so to use, thank you.Version: 2.2.0

All you need in one placeVery happy with this app - perfect for taking out in the field or for research at home later on a bigger screen..Version: 2.1.4

Excellent and really user friendlyJust getting into 'twitching' and this is proving ideal.Version: 2.1.4

Great app but missing some birdsI have had this app for years and use it all the time and love it. It’s easy to use, has good quality pictures, and has all the most common birds and songs that most people will need. It’s missing some that I am interested in though, so please keep adding to the species lists, e.g. like Cirl bunting and Golden Oriole, and more song clips please (still missing for some species)..Version: 2.3.0

Fledgling OrnithologistA friend has introduced me to this app and it has been great for a beginner like me - my only query is that it isn’t easy to look back at what you have spotted - perhaps this feature could be added.Version: 2.2.0

Very goodAwesome app!!!!!!!!.Version: 1.0.1

Superb.Extremely handy and useful resource. Thank you..Version: 2.1.4

This is just the best.Have just identified three Partridges from the app. feeding 30 metres away in a field. Played the call from the app. and they came dashing toward me. Amazing!!! This is how an app. Should be. Can't recommend it enough. Can't wait for, perhaps, a second or two of video of birds in flight?.Version: 2.1.4

Great appThis a really good app for quick reference or beginners. I use it instead of an eye spy book.Version: 2.2.0

Top flight.Perfect, clear and precise, couldn't ask for more..Version: 2.1.4

Pocket birdsReally useful app with lots of information. Easy to use, brilliant..Version: 2.1.4

Could go with a few more species addingIt’s a good app and easy to use, but the species list could be expanded - as birds’ ranges increase and more European species are found in the UK, we can’t identifying unusual birds..Version: 2.2.0

Great App.Downloaded this App. whilst in North Norfolk a couple of weeks ago. It is very good for identifying the type of bird. What I really like is that you can play the sound the bird makes and watch the birds reaction..... Brilliant.Version: 2.1.4

Very happy with purchaseHappy with the purchase, noted a couple very minor issues to the developer and had a very positive and prompt response..Version: 2.1.4

Saving a recording??In early stages of use but how do I save a recording?? I have taken several but none have saved, please help!!.Version: 2.2.0

Fab little appWas shown this by my 7yr old grandson.... They use it in their classroom and was shared as a useful tool during lockdown. What a gift!! I’m a countryside volunteer and have used it a lot with visitors. It runs beautifully on my iPad but won’t install on my iPhone SE. Any ideas as how to fix would be very welcome..Version: 2.3.0

Really usefulEasy to use and so handy to know the answer to “whats that bird?” Gradually getting quite knowledgable.Version: 2.2.0

Well thought out appHave used for a while now and find it easy to use and a great aid to identification. I like the recording of sightings function and sync between devices. More user friendly than other apps. Fully recommend. A query I had was answered virtually instantaneously by email. Good user support..Version: 2.1.4

Really educationalKnow a lot more having used this app, can't argue with that..Version: 2.1.4

Good AppThis is a nice app. Useful info, decent pics. Altogether a really nice app. A few species could be added - Great White Egret, Mediterranean Gull and a few others, but I’m sure they will come in forthcoming upgrades. John.Version: 2.3.0

Very nice! Used it many timesSuperb app to learn about birds and great to call garden birds with it. Excellent. Best £2.50 ever spent..Version: 2.1.4

Great!Fab little app, I use it all the time. So useful having the song at your fingertips..Version: 2.1.4

Good appI've used this a lot and it's great when you just out for a walk. Why is there no info on the Bee-eater or Hoopoe though? The section is there for them but no info inside..Version: 2.1.4

So worth itThis is a fantastic app! Really enjoying it and it's helping me with the birds in the woods in comparison to books. Thanks :).Version: 2.2.0

Fantastic AppI use this app all the time with a copy on my iPad & iPhone so I've always got a copy to hand. Now considering getting the birdsong identifier as well as you can't always clearly see the bird particularly when they are perched high in the tree tops.Version: 2.1.4

SuperbAn excellent app. Simple and clear to use and the audio makes identification so much easier..Version: 2.1.4

Needs iPhone X Support!!!It’s an amazing app, but it needs iPhone X support, I’ve had the iPhone X for a couple of months now and this is one of only a couple of apps that don’t have X support yet. Get with the times!!!.Version: 2.1.4

Birds galore! This app is brilliant. It is by far the best of any others that I investigated, when looking for stuff on bird ID. Incredible value. Sounds of bird calls are a nice touch. Also can record notes of sightings. Great for all bird lovers, whether novice or expert. Well Done!.Version: 2.1.4

Very handy appLove this app very handy to have on my phone when I'm out and about. Sounds are very useful too. Only downside is only has the common birds. Could do with a few of the less common on there too. But still love it.Version: 2.1.4

MrsJust got this app and really enjoy using it so far, very interesting, you see birds all the time but know so little about them..Version: 2.1.4

MrFabulous ,have fun by playing the birdsong in area where birds are and enjoy the return .most informative ..Version: 2.1.4

Really good appQuite impressed with this app. Easy to navigate and enough info to ID many British birds and common migrant species. Good pics, sounds and info about each bird, locations, habits and genus. Had a minor problem after downloading and had response and sound advice within the hour. Customer service of this quality is rare these days so very well done.Version: 2.1.4

ExcellentVery good app that gets better with every update!.Version: 2.1.4

JJI love this app, so easy to use and full of information..Version: 2.1.4

BrilliantThis app is so useful and so easy to use.Version: 2.1.4

Great! This guide to birds it brilliant. It is much better than I thought it would be. It has enabled me to identify all the birds locally and the birds I see when I'm out. It's easy to use and it's helped me identify uncommon birds that are more difficult to note or remember until you get home. I don't usually both to rate apps but this one has really helped me, so I am glad to reciprocate..Version: 2.1.4
