Edge magazine for Positive User Reviews

Amazing digital magazineEdge has always been the best video gaming magazine and with the interactive iPad edition, it just got better!.Version: 3.6.5

After all these years...Edge remains as relevant, frank and mature as ever, never cow-towing to the dishonest journalism tactics that so plague our industry, and never assuming the reader is anything but intelligent and sincere (even when we're not haha). Edge is the only industry periodical I read with any regularity, FWIW (and it's so much better now that we've evolved beyond the need to kill so any trees for each issue!).Version: 3.6.5

NiceNice app.Version: 3.7.2

Great to read from ChinaSince I’m living in China it’s impossible to buy here so it’s nice to have this electronic form available. Of course the size of the issues on my iPad makes it impossible to keep more than a few for immediate access. But I’m happy. Been reading Edge for since the 1990s..Version: 4.9.5

More than a magazineEdge is more than a magazine, it's a way of life. I've been an avid reader for close to a decade. Not only has it become my single source for news and reviews, but it has dictated the games I choose to play. Suffice to say, I've never been disappointed. By the way, Nathan Brown is a beast!.Version: 5.2.3

Brilliant !!!Love the magazine, has good journalistic style and has its pulse on the industry.. The interactive version is really brilliant, I love it !!!.Version: 3.6

Crashes on iOS 9I very like your magazine and I somewhat like your app, but it's not working on iOS 9 yet and I just want to warn you about it..Version: 3.8.3

Hard to rateI love the format of the digital edition and Edge is, to me, the best video game mag around. As an app...sometimes I have to delete it and re download and install the editions. It's kinda annoying but not so much that i quit using it..Version: 3.8.1

Great AppGreat app which lets me read all the Edge content easily on my iPad or iPhone..Version: 6.4

The update I've been waiting for!Edge is a beautiful print magazine. Now with this new update I can enjoy how beautiful it is also on the new iPad. Previously it was either all pixelated or too slow to render. This update seems to have fixed all those problems. I hope the rest of the Future PLC magazines get updated as well..Version: 2.0

With 242...... you folk have nailed it. For me T3 has been the standard bearer of how an iPad magazine should look... I'm guessing you've shared some resource with them (both Future publications) because Edge now takes it up another notch. I remember buying my first issue of edge (issue 2, what 20 years ago?) and just loving how gorgeous it looked - beautiful typography, clean space layouts, interesting page sizes and, of course, brilliant writing. Since you've gone iPad, the writing and reviewing have remained high, but it really struggled to be "special" - an event. It seems obvious Edge and iPad should be the dream... but it wasn't. It just saved some space in my flat. But now - WOW! This is it. I can't wait to see what you do with your new digital sandbox - and I will be waiting every month (via subscription) to find out. Just like issue 2....Version: 2.0

EDGEIf you like reading gaming magazines, an EDGE subscription is for you. Interesting features and unbiased reviews are a great start. The ability to enlarge font, flick quickly between pages, and read in any light, complete the picture. Each issue costs me half of what I pay in the shops, arrives on time right to my iPad, and takes no space in my house to store. Just brilliant..Version: 1.6

Nice App needs more back issues and to not store archivesReally like the App especially front covers and being able to click to get to certain articles. But really wish the archive issues did not take up HDD space and could be deleted and re download. My biggest bugbear is needs more back issues though! I was the Ferrrari F355 issue and would give money for it so please make it available..Version: 5.2.3

Great magazine, good appEdge is an excellent magazine, but this app has a few small problems. It's a little slow and buggy when starting up and downloading, but nothing too bad. The most glaring problem is that it doesn't remember your position unless it's still running through multitasking. If you have used it recently and it is still in RAM it will remember your position, but as soon as it is forced out of RAM it starts back at the first page. It shouldn't be hard to fix this, the kindle app had this ability way before multitasking was introduced. These issues are small and don't detract much from the great content of the magazine. I would happily give this app 5 stars if they fix it so it always remembers your location..Version: 1.0

...WowI love printed magazines. Digital magazines are often clumsily thrown together, and I initially scoffed at the $40 fee. I'd pay it again in a heartbeat because this app is just beautiful. This is how I want to read my game news!.Version: 2.0.1

The most complete iPad video game experienceI've been a fan of EDGE since the early 00's and I've subscribed the the iPad version for the past few years on and off. I've recently upgraded to an iPad Air 2 and have found the experience with the EDGE app to be the best magazine experience I've had on a tablet..Version: 3.8.3

The best video game magazine. PeriodI have been reading Edge for few years and I think that they are by far the best magazine out there. They treat video game as an art and the reviews marks are most of the time spot on. They have access to all the industry top influencer and it gives its readers a unique view of the industry..Version: 4.9.5

Simply the bestEdge is a great mag with amazing writing, and the digital edition takes grist advantage of the features of the iPad. Buy it today!.Version: 3.7.2

ExcellentOn the whole I find the app to be excellent. Issues download in the background no problem. I occasionally have issues trying to open the issues on my iPad 1, but they always open on my wife's newer iPad. The interactive features work well and I can't recall being bugged by popups like other reviewers have. The only downside for me is not being able to consistently run it on an older iPad..Version: 3.6

Awesome- the magazine, digital!I love it- I can subscribe, buy back issues- the way a magazine app should be done..Version: 1.0

Slick, Responsive, StylishThis app. All I can say is more of this please. Don't let up. This is one of the best out there..Version: 3.8.3

FunctionalWorks as intended..Version: 4.9.5

Great!Works awesome, looks awesome. Very easy to read. I can't wait to see if they do work a way to get the regular magazine add-ins to subscribers. If so, it would be worth 10 stars..Version: 1.0

Love itAwesome.Version: 3.8.1

Wonderful re-imagining of the this magazineI am extremely impressed with the amount of effort that has been put in this magazine, it's layout, and original content. Price is right for the sheer quality and quantity of original content. A couple of UI suggestions: 1. Speed up page to page transitions. Sometimes I feel like I'm waiting too long for page to animate before reading it. 2. Enlarge the 'x' target. I feel as if I have to tap it at least 2-3x before I close a picture. 3. Some film strips can be cumbersome to navigate. You have to close one and click on next photo instead of just swiping over. 4. Why is the cover in newsstand an advertisement? 5. It can sometimes be a little confusing knowing on what pages you need to scroll down for more content..Version: 2.0.1

All downloaded issues orphanedI will second the fact that the update lost track of all the issues I had already downloaded, 5GB. I tried to download issues i already had to see what happened, and it used additional space and didn't replace the issue already downloaded. I had to delete the application in order to free up all the used space. It will take me hours to download and install all the issues again. But I haven't redownloaded the app. Edge has been a very nice app in the past. I hope there is an update to fix this..Version: 3.1.4

Good magazine, awful allMost annoying bug - issue marked as unread though I've read long time ago. Decoration of app is not so fabulous too. About the magazine - font size is too small for reading on tablet, I always have to zoom in, it's annoying. But everything else is cool..Version: 1.0

Great content. Annoying UIAs always, the content in Edge is first class and a cut above the usual in Games journalism. Unlike others I have no problems with the interactivity of articles. It just takes some getting used to the visual clues about further content. But, I wish there was a consistent way to navigate around the different sections and to get back the main library. I'm currently stuck in the August issue with no obvious way out of it. Tried tap-and-hold, double tapping, triple tapping, pinching but nothing gets me out of it. In the end the only thing I could do was delete the app and redownload it and all the content. A real pain! Suggestions 1. Make double tap always bring up the page index view with an option to return to the library 2. Make use of a swipe from offscreen to onscreen from the bottom a way to show the index view too..Version: 2.1

Good price, limited use of iPadWhat a pleasure to be able to read Edge abroad at an affordable price, however one has to note that the reading experience is very basic, as close to pdf reading as you can imagine it to be, which can make it sometimes painful considering how much there can be in a page of this magazine. An enhanced iPad experience, even at an extra cost, would make a big difference!.Version: 1.8

Really thoughtful writing for techie mag!I contacted the guys who developed Blek with a question. I never thought I would get a response, but I did. In the response, there was a link to an article from Edge, that further answered my question. What is the point of that long story? Well, it was really well-written and interesting. Deep and sincere. Not what I expected from techie magazine. I'm a new fan. The next thing I saw was about Red Dead Redemption! I was sold for life! :).Version: 3.7.2

Good alternative to page based readingA lot of thought has gone into the design of the structure and interface of this and it's a refreshing change from just flicking through digital pages like I used to on Zinio. It's definitely worth getting this ipad enhanced version, even for a few quid more per year if it works out to that..Version: 3.8.1

Edge MagazineCoverage worth reading across all platforms.Version: 3.6

Excellent Mag for Adults. The first thing I noticed about Edge Magazine when I started reading it in 1995 was the quantum leap in quality over other mags. Interviews were intelligent and frank, reviews were helpful even if you disagreed with the score, and the business aspects of gaming were as front and center as the games themselves. Edge, particularly in the states, is a must-buy for the iPad, especially considering how much it costs to subscribe to the airmailed British hard copy. My only reservation would be to suggest the Zinio version over this one. The format is identical, plus a nice plain text "reader" option and the ability to view on a Mac or PC also..Version: 1.0

Best gaming magazine!I've been getting Edge for a few years now - and with Newsstand I can get the latest issues as soon as they are released. This is definitely the best source for informed writing on gaming - and it looks great on iPhone (seriously considering getting an iPad for this magazine alone)..Version: 1.0

Trust Edge to do it right!A fantastic digital experience that looks and performs superbly on my iPad's Retina display. While I appreciate the 'safe' way of doing digital magazines with a simple PDF copy of the print edition, not all publications have gotten their iPad versions right. Trust Edge to knock it out the park on their first attempt. This should the magazine standard adopted by digital publications everywhere..Version: 2.0.1

Superlative videogame journalismI came across my first issue of Edge at my local Barnes & Noble--absolutely transcendental. I had no idea there was this kind of literary quality on interactive entertainment. I transitioned to the iPad subscription and haven't looked back, very polished and responsive. Many a commuter have asked what magazine I'm reading..Version: 3.6

Better than WiredI used to get this via Zinio but then switched when it first came to iTunes Store. For the first couple months I regretted it as they didn't have the Text feature that Zinio had so you had to zoom in to read it. But since they released the iPad optimised versions I couldn't be happier, this is my favourite magazine in the world and read it on iPad is a joy now..Version: 2.1

Most complete gaming periodicalEdge has got to be the most thorough and mature gaming magazine I have had the pleasure of reading. 5 out of 5 stars. If you have any interest in the world of video games, you need to read this..Version: 4.2.1

Edge of the cubeSharpest app now, covers totally brilliant. Great stuff..Version: 4.9.5

Fantastic designThe material inside is same old Edge, with its excellent features enhanced by beautiful cover animation and extra content such as videos. The design of the whole digital magazine is wonderful, and it has never been better. I admit I prefer th print version, so I have both - print to read at home, tablet to read on the train. Love it!.Version: 3.8.3

Good valueThe digital version is half the price of the print. You can indeed view a table of contents (hit index) and just double tap to zoom making the text readable. Good stuff..Version: 1.6

Great update! This latest update is fantastic on the Retina iPad. Previous versions took about 3 seconds to render the hi-res page every time you turned the page, this version takes about 0.5 second (if that), which makes all the difference in making this a worthy replacement for the print version. The text also used to look a bit funky even when zoomed in, even though it looks to be essentially a PDF, and this version seems to have resolved that too. It's also great that I can now buy Edge in Australia now for $3.50 per issue if I go a 12 month sub, as opposed to the $15 per issue air freight copies in a newsagent. Win Win..Version: 2.0

The best videogames magazine by farIf you are serious into games don't miss it. If you are developing them, it's a must..Version: 3.8.1

Not quite there yetSignificant improvement in the optimised for iPad version - and it's good…but, text still takes the passenger seat and it becomes quite fiddly to scroll amongst images, graphics etc. Take a few more cues from the best mag app, Wired, and you'll get there (and then I'll subscribe).Version: 2.1

Worth WAY more! This beats the living snot out of any magazine I have ever read on the iPad! I hope other magazines see this and follow its direction!.Version: 2.1

Great magazine, app could do with a little UI improvementI've been reading Edge magazine probably since it's inception, and have always loved the style and design of the magazine, as well of course the well written reviews and articles. however the user interface (UI) of the app could do with a little improvement. Although a minimalist UI does look cool, it sometimes leaves the reader a little perplexed as to where to swipe or touch to get to the next section. A little icon or graphic here or there would do the trick..Version: 3.6.5

Best gaming magEDGE is the best interactive videogame magasine out there, period..Version: 3.6

Keeps crashingCrashes when swiping to a new page. Every time. Finally crashed the whole News Stand. Can't believe this isn't fixed. As somebody said earlier in these comments, glad I didn't opt for the trial subscription. Terrible app. One star for trying. Minus four for failing miserably..Version: 3.1.8

Best gaming magazine, but formatting issues.Content: I have been an avid reader of this magazine since it began in 1993. The reason why its the best gaming magazine, is the focus is more on the innovation of the gaming industry, rather than what's popular. This is noted by the fact that there have only been about 14 games to get a 10/10 rating! If you want to know how the gaming industry is changing and what's on the horizon; this is the magazine for you. Price is $4.99 because its a UK magazine, but well worth the price for the articles. Tech: Recently they fixed a few issues with the graphics and the annoying advertisement that appeared, instead of the cover in Newsstand. The main problem - CONSTANT ZOOMING in order to read an article. Fix it please and I would subscribe in a heartbeat; but for now I wait..Version: 2.0

Good example of how to do magazines right on iPadMost ipad mags are just glorified PDFs of the physical mag, with the odd token link to a video thrown in if you are lucky. As a previous Edge subscriber I actually have to say I prefer the digital version - not something you can usually say about ipad magazines. Well laid out to suit the way tablets work, extra images and videos not found in the proper mag and cheaper too. Thanks for actually putting a bit of time and thought into the whole thing, unlike so many other publishers..Version: 3.6.5

SuperbThis is a superb version of the magazine. I've subscribed to the printed edition of Edge for many years but it had got to the point where I didn't really read it any more. I downloaded a sample and was blown away by how much more useful it was. Games are a visual medium, this magazine exploits that to full effect with embedded videos and more screenshots. The added interactivity brings the articles to life and makes it a joy to read again. Plus for us folks who aren't in the UK it means we get the latest edition in a timely and reliable fashion. This is exactly the sort of thing I bought an iPad for in the first place..Version: 2.1

Edge on the cutting edgeI have been an Edge reader since the magazine started and partly bought an iPad Mini to subscribe to the cheaper digital version. What I saw blew me away because Edge is so much more than a glorified PDF like so many other magazines that get distributed digitally. In Edge, most elements of the page are interactive and flourishes like animated backgrounds give it a level of polish that is ground breaking in magazine publishing. Best of all are the covers that bring game art to life in fun and surprising ways. I hope Edge can go on forever because it really delivers on the claim of its name..Version: 3.8.3

Beautiful and functional.Best video game periodical around. App is beautiful and functional. Can't r commend highly enough..Version: 4.2.9

Great new update utilizes iPhone X and iPad Pro full screenLove this app! I’m so happy the newest update supports the full iPad Pro screen! It really makes a difference. Great content, great app! I’ll be “Completing my Collection” today.Version: 6.0.6

An iPad Magazine Done RightDespite its obvious strengths as a media platform, magazines are struggling to build a product that leverages the iPad's unique abilities. Too often we get little more than overblown PDFs with a sprinkling of touch interaction, or magazines crammed into the (very limited) confines of Adobe's publishing tools for iPad. With its new incarnation, The Edge has come up with something that truly works. It's intuitive, fluid, well-considered and beautiful. And that's just the icing - the content is fantastic. If you are a gamer and you enjoy a well-made, thoughtful product, getting a subscription to this magazine on your iPad is a no-brainer. You owe it to yourself, and the magazine is deserving of recognition for such a fantastic piece of work..Version: 2.0.2

IPhone newest mag is iPad only... Fix pleaseGreat mag. Been reading digital version on iPhone for over a year now and it's my favorite game mag. Informative with great coverage..Version: 3.6

Incredible.Don't read any gaming magazine except this one. Edge is intelligent, analytic and entertaining coverage of everything to do with gaming. Literally the best games magazine available, without doubt..Version: 2.0.1

Great magazine.Love Edge. It's a well written gaming mag for adults. The interactive version is even better than the written version, and that was also great..Version: 3.6

Great iPad Magazine appI have downloaded a lot of magazine apps and subscribed to their content before this one and I have to say, this one is top notch. I have read other reviews but that must've been before they went digital because there's videos here, there's no loading issues, there's really high res screen shots, things are animated. Looks really nice. Compared to the rest, this is what I expect an iPad magazine to look like. Something interactive, not just something to flip pages through. Their most recent issue is something to check out. Just give it a try.Version: 2.1

Virtual edgeLove the app, highly recommended.Version: 4.9.5
