✓ 2.x version not so good for older issues...Well, the new content looks and works great. But for the older issues it's gone a little downhill. There are two glaring issues for me: first, what happened to portrait view? That's the main way I used to read the mag. Second, the page flipping isn't as smooth as it was before; for example, if you're zoomed in and the page is fully moved to the right, an additional flick would move you to the next page. Now I have to zoom out of every page to go to the next one..Version: 2.1.34

✓ Great interactive featuresThe magazine itself is fanatic but the app needs some work. It's especially hard to scroll up and down, it seems like it only works if you go in a perfectly straight vertical line, very annoying. This and the lack of zoom means only four stars but the content as alway is amazing and still makes it a worthy purchase..Version: 2.1
✓ App Store purchases can't/won't sign inI love the magazine. Each issue covers an enormous amount of info in a fun-to-read format. I do have to dock 1 star for poor App Store integration. The app wants me to sign in and continues to show 'preview' issues. However, according to the developer website, App Store purchasers can't/don't need to sign in. If I'm a paying subscriber (yes), sign me in and remove the 'preview' bug..Version: 2.1.59
✓ Fantastic, BUT...If you love Top Gear, you owe it to yourself to check this out. All the content that you would expect, now in a cool new format. All in all, GREAT app and the content alone is worth the subscription price. HOWEVER, there is one thing about this App that drives me certifiably insane: Even after purchasing a subscription, there is no easy way to tell that you are, in fact: SUBSCRIBED. Issues still show up with a "Tap to Preview" stamped on top, and an ominous "Sign In" still shows up in the top left hand corner (apparently I need an account to something, but I'm not sure what)... Look, I realize that my OCD makes me nitpick, but these are simple UI changes that could just put your mind at ease (especially when you are spending this much money on a subscription)! Please, just make it easy for me to know that I'm getting the next issue, and I'm not missing something..Version: 2.1.59

Top Gear magazine wouldn’t load properly, and after several deletions of the magazine and the App itself, I still don’t have full functionality of the magazine. ✓ Now working!Second update which apparently sorts the problem for current print subscribers being able to download issues but it doesn't. I filled in the form to create an app account with my print account number which tells me I can now login except when I try to I get authentication files and I still can't do anything. Waiting for a reply from support so hope they can sort this ASAP. UPDATE: After emailing support I got a new password which allowed me to login and download my previous purchases. I love the new interactive editions. The HD videos are superb and the photography as amazing as ever. Very happy..Version: 2.1.34
✓ Doesn't Crash on my iPad 2...As the title says, it doesn't seem to crash on my IOS 1.6.3 iPad 2. Contrary to other reviews. I'm not a fan of not being able to turn my iPad in portrait mode while reading it, but I can live with it. I'm also not a fan on the animated GIF's in the magazine, although its a good concept, it seems to distract from what I'm reading..Version: 2.1.38
✓ Amazingly designed interactive magThis magazine is designed amazingly beautiful with many interactive features like the 360 car interior view which basically a panorama of the interior of the car where you pan your iPad and looks as if you are in the car yourself. ✓ Amazing!The app has been updated and now the option for existing subscribers is available and I can use my print subscription to access access the digital copies again. The contents of the new interactive editions is brilliant! Loads more pictures and videos all integrated. January's edition is just as good as December's. PLEASE NOTE: because its now interactive, it's released 5-7 days AFTER the magazine is released! This isn't a problem for me but I had to email their support team to find out..Version: 2.1.34
✓ Brilliant answer to the printed versionReally like this new interactive interface, it's intuitive and adds a little fun to the reading. I especially like the main menu which, if you tap an article it takes you straight to it. I have no problems reading mine in landscape with the retina display, clear and sharp. Plus it's a fair bit cheaper per issue than the printed version and I don't have to go out of the house to get it! Winner!.Version: 2.1.34

✓ Great AppI've read some of the other reviews and I am wondering if I have the same App. I think this is the best magazine for iPad that I have used, and I have used quite a few. It was designed for use on the iPad and is not just the print version shrunk into tiny print that you have to expand and read piece by piece. It was obviously made for iPad and it makes it a very enjoyable interactive experience. Lots of links to pictures or videos, very nicely done..Version: 2.1.64

✓ Good things come to those who waitWhen I first got my iPad in 2010, I was anticipating TG would bring out an interactive version. Two years passed and, whilst there were loads of amazingly cool implementations of other magazines to the iPad, TG was nowhere to be seen. There was the miscalculated AR version of the print magazine and then the PDF version on iPad. None of them had the interactivity or immersive potential seen on other mags. Then this came along. Suddenly I could read TG again and have some awesome videos, audio and other features. Personally, can't wait to get a retina iPad to make it even more awesome..Version: 2.1.38

Top Gear is an amazing TV show that has been going on for years now, and so i thought i needed more than just the TV program. The one problem i have found with this magazine is that you have to pay to buy the magazines and £2.99 for each one comes to a lot of money in the end I mean if you are buying every single magazine every month for a whole year means your spending over £36! ✓ Poor text rendering on iPad 1If you have an iPad 1, this app is not user friendly. The app only works in landscape mode, and whilst the pictures are crisp, the text is unreadable. You can "Pinch to zoom" to get a closer look at the text, but the app takes ages to sharpen the word into a decent focus. If you want to see how a great magazine app works, look at the Stuff gadget app...that is how to do it!.Version: 2.1.34

It's great because when a new issue comes out you need not wait for it in the post but download it straight away. ✓ Awesome experienceIf your considering trying a magazine on your iPad or just discovered a love of cars and literature, look no further than Top Gear Mag. This mag shows you how brilliantly interactive and three-dimensional content can be on the iPad while delivering a very full-fat reading experience. I'm sure the TG team could have just made a simple PDF style page turner but it wouldn't have been worthy of the Top Gear name. Of course there are some little technical niggles that you will occasionally encounter but once you encounter a review of the new Rolls Royce and discover you can look around at the entire high resolution interior of the car using your iPad gyroscope, any flaws suddenly disappear. I guess what I'm trying to say is that with The interactive mag for iPad, TG has created something that is quite simply: "Ambitious but (NOT) rubbish!" Anybody who reads this: BUY IT, you won't be disappointed. Also, kudos to the team responsible for this. If you keep up this level of quality, I'll keep reading..Version: 2.1.45
✓ Useless and lazy App planningA waste of time, memory and some very lazy presentation by the Top Gear publishers. This is not an app but the ability to download a complete PDF of a magazine - using a vast 350+Mb per issue. Took ages to actually download with 3 unsuccessful attempts. Trying to read it is next to impossible - 1 got as far as page 3 and then gave up, after trying to zoom in on and up and down static columns of text. Shame as I am travelling abroad and it would have been nice but my advice is do not bother and buy a paper copy. Come on Top Gear - surely you can deliver a half decent app that downloads quickly, can actually be read, and is worth paying for?.Version: 1.1.1
