✓ Mostly greatI first downloaded this on my iPhone 4, years ago. It was a great app—the river became my go-to noise blocker. There are also a lot of super random sounds that I can't imagine people using for anything. Baby laughs? Cats purring. So odd. But the app's update for iPhone 5 and 6 is wonky. It doesn't scroll through sound options smoothly; it's kind of like scrolling through a Windows phone, with lots of little stops. So that's a bummer. But hopefully it'll be fixed. The river is still there, so I keep using it..Version: 2.0

✓ Outstanding noise masking &sound mixUpdate (2023): Still (again?), my favorite of this type of app. The mixer function was buggy in one iteration many updates ago, but they fixed it, added new sounds, improved the look and UI, and cleaned up any bugs. This app took a step back & then two steps forward. All of my last review below still applies: (Review of an older update) I continue to love this app. One of my top five favorites out of my 1000+ apps on my iPhone and iPad. I use it for so many things. I like to use it for background for electronic music sometimes, I use it as I say below for sleeping, it's my first app that I turn on whenever I want to do something to mask out other sound or to relax me. The mixer, and saved favorite function, is one of my favorite features on this app. I can design different blends for different purposes. If you like this kind of thing, find various kinds of white noise, background sounds, nature sounds, etc. useful, helpful or healing, this is the app for you. End update Original review: I really like apps that generate background noise and sound that can be soothing as well as masking/blocking other distracting or disturbing sounds. I use these a lot sometimes to write and sometimes to help me sleep. I really like this app because it's got a lot of different varieties of sounds (both from nature - eg ocean, waterfall, rain, etc, as well as electronically generated sounds - white noise, pink noise, brown noise) and you can custom mix and match in many different ways. The mix controls (levels, balance) are very robust & sophisticated, yet simple to use. You can save your favorites both in terms of individual sounds as well as your mixes. It also allows you to layer the sounds on top of other music you might be playing. And unlike some other noise generating apps, it plays in the background. I can also imagine myself using some of this app's tools for my own music in composition. I tried a lot of different apps with various noise generators, and this is the best one..Version: 2.4
✓ An excellent app ......An excellent app although it could do with some sound reworks to improve the quality. Some of the rain effects sound a little tinny for example (compared to similar apps). Having said that, the ability to create your own playlists is brilliant, and that you can adjust individual sound volumes works well in balancing the overall user experience. I also like that you can play music from your iPad/iPhone music collection at the same time, and when the music finishes, the White Noise app continues. Overall a sure 4 star winner: tweaks to some of the sounds as mentioned would push that to 5 star..Version: 2.4
✓ Very relaxingThis is a great app for those of us that need noise in our lives that fades into the background and is unintrusive. There are 1 or 2 sounds I don't care for & the mixer is a tad confusing. Overall the good definitely outweighs the bad. UPDATE: I've been using this app at bedtime, mainly (although I just started using it while reading the Bible, too), and I, like some other reviewers remarked, sleep very well with this app going (LOVE the 'meadow' sound), and actually wake up within minutes after the timer runs out. ✓ SuggestionsI love this app and use it every night! Great for drowning out construction noise, annoying cats, and husband snoring. I wish that the fan and brown, pink, and white noise settings didn't have a skip in them. I can't use those settings because of it. Also wish you could use your favorite mixes in the playlist. ✓ Has served us well through three babies!What I wrote four years ago: This app has worked wonders helping get our fussy baby to sleep! The Sea sound has become a nonnegotiable part of our bedtime routine. The best part is that we can use it anywhere, so even when she has to sleep in an unfamiliar place, it still sounds like home. Let me add now: two babies later, this is still going strong. The second two haven't needed it for soothing, but I used it today to help my toddler get to sleep at grandma's noisy house. ✓ DecentI downloaded this app because I wanted a white noise app to sleep with, and I opened it and there were some odd noises. I realized they were in alphabetical order and scrolled down to W. I clicked on white noise and it told me I had to pay for it! I then realized I had to pay for over half of them and they only give me about 10 free noises. ✓ Great App!This app was a great purchase. A lot of the sounds are very useful. I love the ability to blend my favorite sounds with the mixer function to create and save custom blended noise. The only thing I've noticed that I didn't like was the fact that I can hear the end of the loop on the fan noise. It's not really an issue though because I found a combination of Jungle, Shower, Waterfall, and Thunder to be just what I needed to fall asleep when I'm on the road.
