The effect is very very realistic once you get the hang of drawing the mouth on, which doesnt take long. All my pals are playing with this and sending eachother vids produced with it. ✓ Not bad at all. Quite fun actually...I think for $.99 the app is pretty good it works perfectly fine on iPhone 4S. You can load any of your own pictures you can change the voice. It would be nice to be able to change the shading a little bit to match colors? Do that and I will put five stars on here. People are complaining that there aren't enough photos but you can take a picture yourself or download it from the Internet and add a face to any photo so quit complaining. ✓ Speech Language PathologistAbsolutely LOVE this app! I'm using it in speech therapy with my little ones to create talking characters for them to use to imitate their target words. Then I string all the clips together in iMovie. Couldn't be easier. So far I have used Thomas the Train, Elmo and Barney. The kids adore these movies.
