✓ Good but with some bugs a so-so UIThis is the best dictation app I've tried, but it is far from perfect. I find the UI unintuitive but there is a help/file. There seems to be a bug in that settings are not saved if you click to go to the advanced settings, so you have to make sure you save first and then go back to it. It took some trial and error to get the gain settings correct to my voice and environment, but now it works great. I only had one attempt to edit a file and it didn't seem to work how I expected, so I need to read the help file again and work it out. The constant nag screen to rate the app is also annoying. Records in lots of formats, can easily add an afterthought to a note anytime after recording it, can organize recordings into groups/folders which is a necessity when you have a LOT like me, the list goes on. Sure, it's not much to look at display-wise... I'd rather see an old-style meter w/needle moving as I record, like other apps, & some more eye-pleasing colors like tan with blue, black or red. The developer has put a lot of effort into creating an easy to use, simple piece of software that mimics the good old fashion dictaphone of time gone by. The pro version includes bolt on extras that are each offered as individual in-app purchases offering well thought out bonus features. These are not essential but highly recommended. Such things include the ability to sync with your iTunes account, export to Microsoft or Dropbox accounts, email files and more. The cheapest option is to just buy the software outright as it is only £4.99 and this represents a absolute bargain. Unfortunately when it comes to uploading to say Dropbox, it is really difficult to tell what the really small icons mean. This is not made for people who are not computer savvy and assumes that you know what the symbols mean. ✓ This is a keeper for versatility.I am a profesional voice actor, a creative writer and a musician. Mobile audio recording plays an important role in my life. I've been looking for years for an app that gives me the flexibility of high quality recording, idea recording and editing tool all in one. This is close to be perfect for me. It has replaced 6 of my previous recording apps already! I can record high quality auditions and send them to my agent in both of the industry standards .WAV and MP3. Kudos for that. I can record ideas very easily while I'm driving or away from my desk and organize them later for easy review. That's one of the big pluses of this app IMHO. I have used it also to record a guitar recital in combination with a Zoom iQ5 mic for iPhone 5 with outstanding results. The only things missing for me are: 1) Ability to monitor recording with headsets. (The iQ5 mic has an input jack for headsets but it requires the app to allow monitoring which I don't think this app has or it is so hidden I haven't found it yet.) 2) Ability to display text on screen to read while recording. I know this is too much to ask but just think how many rappers, poets, actors, teachers, narrators etc. would benefit from this. (check an app called iSaidWhat? to see what I'm talking about) Other than that very good app. Keep it up..Version: 1.8.6

✓ Stable, flexible & feature richThis is the only stable app I have found in the App Store that enables you to record at 44.1 kHz or higher and 32 bit depth. It also gives you the ability to bypass the iPhones internal audio circuitry. I have literally tried every recording application in the App Store and this is the best. There are no longer other features to buy to have the full Alon app. There are also now no advertisements. I use this app on a iPhone 6s+ and have not experienced any of the problems mentioned in the other reviews. I use this app with my Shure MV88 stereo mic for impresive CD-quality music recording. With the Shure Motiv app running in the background and set up the the way you choose the Alon app Records with the settings in both apps when the MV 88 is used. This is an excellent combination.
