✓ FantasticBecause I'm in the US I was hesitant to buy Chambers. But since the price is so low I took the plunge. Now I can't understand why I ever hesitated. This is one of the best Dictionaries of the English language available and it plugs right into WordWeb for cross referencing. I also got the Chambers Thesaurus which I'm equally happy with. ✓ The best dictionary presentation I’ve ever seenChambers is a British dictionary that gives each word multiple, very short, and occasionally humorous definitions. It’s also the official dictionary for most UK (cryptic) crosswords. The definitions are succinct and enlightening. It also defines many words that aren’t in the macOS Dictionary app. Despite the wealth of definitions, each entry is instantly understandable. It’s simply the best dictionary presentation I’ve ever seen. The app surrounding this content is also very nice. It’s based on the WordWeb app (which has more traditional, verbose, dictionary content). It has the ability to solve anagrams and find words with missing letters—you use a question mark in place of the letters you don’t know. This makes it useful for solving cryptic crosswords..NateVersion: 4.2

Chambers Dictionary Cons

✗ Becoming worse the more I use itThis is Chambers - it could be so good, but its not. I bought the dictionarry and thesaurus. The Mac thesaurus usually offers more suggestions and each of those suggestions links to a dictionary definition. Not so with Chambers, which is frustrating. Most words that begin with the prefix 'un-‘ (like unexpected) take you to the word ‘un’ and then you have to work out the rest - this is just a lazy product. The Mac thesaurus does not do this. The screen looks like a bit of semi-amatuer programming it has a feel of something back in 2005. If dark mode is ticked in Mac settings for the menu bar, it sends the app into dark mode - this cannot be changed within the app. I presume Chambers have simply sold their name and have no interest in the quality of the product. The dictionary has probelms too - search for a ‘containing word and you get all the words with the first three letters of the word you suggest - ie it does not do what it should. The ‘Help document’ under the help menu is off almost no technical help but is great for finding out about quirky words. There is no easy accessible technical support with FAQs etc. Save your money folks!.JonononoVersion: 3.80
