✓ SENSATIONAL APPThis wonderful app has brought The National Gallery to me, living on the Isle of Wight! The music to accompany the slide shows is at times a very relaxing background - it would be good to be able to skip tracks at times. It would be an added bonus to be able to access a commentary, or the notes that are alongside each painting in the gallery. Meanwhile; this is an amazing app, for which I am extremely grateful, for the many hours of future enjoyment it will provide..Version: 2.2

✓ Terrific app!There's not much more to say about this. It really is the finest collection of artwork contained within as iOS app that I've ever seen. Downloading takes a bit of time, but the resolution is wonderful and I think the major time periods and schools are adequately represented. The small info blurbs about the works are well done. There could be more examples of some periods and artists, but it appears that there are other apps on the way (for the usual small fee) that will go into more detail about specific things. I'm running it on iPhone 4S and can see clearly the razor stubble on the chin of Albrecht Dürer's dad. Tate Gallery's app has actual audio guides for the few paintings. ✓ Great app, not much informationVery good app, love having all the paintings so accessible, and the hd photos are very good. My only criticism would be that the information about each painting is presented in a rather basic looking format, and is pretty brief. It seems to just be the writing from the labels in the gallery itself, without any information on the size of the painting, for instance, which would be very helpful. ✓ National GalleryI have been to this gallery twice - most recently a few months ago. I have been to most of the world's top galleries 2X and I believe the National Gallery provides an unmatched experience - mainly due to the audio commentary it provides (for a small fee - I think GBP 3 per set). This is the best commentary among all museums in my opinion. i also think that the collection is quite broad so you can pick from a lit of choices if that is your approach to see a museum. wished the museum allowed this for purchase with the app so that it plays with the picture (when such commentary exists) as I will be happy to pay as much as $20 annually for this. Last but not the least I wish the information about each picture was as detailed as the one in the museum and showed up as a pop up on the same screen as the picture and it showed the actual dimensions of the picture.
