✓ Spectacular!This app majestically illustrates the vast universe that we live in. From the smallest particles all the way up until galaxies and beyond, Wonders shows you new things. It's like being a kid once more and looking up into the sky. Embedded video is very smooth, the text and information is easy to understand and read. Visually, this app takes the cake for any digital book I have ever seen. Get this app. For kids and adults..Version: 1.1
✓ I fixed the soundLike many others, I downloaded the app and couldn't get sound or anything. I tried the mute button and volume settings, etc. I finally went under settings and changes the side switch button off of rotation lock onto mute. For whatever reason, when my side switch was being used to lock rotation I couldn't get any sound. Once I changed it to control mute, the sound worked. Weird bug, but easy fix. Hope this helps others with the same problem..Version: 1.1
✓ Beautiful, entertainingThis app is both entertaining and enlightening, focusing on the "big picture" and doing a superb job of illustrating the current state of our understanding, and what efforts like the search for the Higgs boson mean in terms of our understanding. I found the material to be at a level where it was accessible while still being relevant and interesting to a more educated layperson. I minored in chemistry and found the material to extend my knowledge, so the "educators" who claim the entirety of this app should be common knowledge to a ninth grader is clearly living in an ivory tower. There's a lot to learn from here, for all ranges of education. One addition which might be worthwhile would be links to Wikipedia to allow users to digress into more detail within the application. Overall, this is a fantastic effort, a huge achievement, and a meaningful contribution to science outreach. I hope it's use becomes widespread and that this app continues to evolve..Version: 1.11

However, after updating it recently it will not download...I contacted the developer with no response....Non-existent customer service. Last time I spend 5 U.S.D. ✓ I mean just...my god!This officially makes my iPad feel like a futuristic piece of technology. I zoomed out from Earth, then from the solar system, then from our galaxy, then from a galaxy cluster, then out to a super cluster and then to a view of the universe I have never been able to imagine. I literally gasped out load and starred at this sight for several minutes before zooming all the way back into subatomic particles. This app is amazing. I found Brian Cox's explanations gave a brilliant and complete view of our universe while still being delivered in good portions. While at times a bit repetitive, I often found that my next questions were being answered quickly and seemed almost anticipated. The thing that would have allowed me to enjoy the app a little more would be less repetition and a clear view of viewing the content by scale (from sub-atomic particles to the whole universe) or by section (life, solar system, universe)..Version: 1.23

But, while all of that is good, it is completely slanted to the view of evolution and the Big Bang theory. Creationism is not an option in this app. I'm able to overlook this fact simply because I believe the app shows the vastness of the universe, and that makes it special to me. How anyone can look at this app and say that this vast Cosmos is a random advent.. believe what you want. “Even evolutionist Stephen Hawking, considered the best-known scientist since Albert Einstein, acknowledges “the universe and the laws of physics seem to have been specifically designed for us. If any one of about 40 physical qualities had more than slightly different values, life as we know it could not exist: Either atoms would not be stable, or they wouldn’t combine into molecules, or the stars wouldn’t form the heavier elements, or the universe would collapse before life could develop, and so on...” (Austin American Statesman, October 19, 1997)” The key word here is "designed"..Version: 1.76

I think this app is for the average user who wants to stimulate their minds and have a little visual pleasure. It also is a great tool for learning and never once expresses that this is a tool for a teacher to teach his ninth grade class. ✓ For Independently Curious MindsThis app can be used in several ways. 1. Visually zoom around the solar system, Galaxy, and universe. Tap things to learn more 2. Go section by section and learn about macro level stuff like the universe all the way down to atoms and even sub-atomic particles. The app has beautiful images, helpful diagrams, and mediocre videos. You'll likely have the most fun by zooming around our solar system and learning about all the planets and moons. I didn't go to school for physics or astronomy, business actually. When you scroll up to read the text of each section, the blue background makes it look somewhat unprofessional. Also, it takes way to long for the video and text to load, maybe just put the videos onto the iPad for a better viewing experience, instead of streaming it. Being a PhD student I have keen interest in Science and I can confidently say that this app is by far the best app I have downloaded so far. Such an amazing development skills and amazingly full of knowledge. Off course there is room for improvement and more topics to add but it's surprisingly good piece of work. There is just one little suggestion for Prof. Brian Cox. The area of research where is trying to find facts from history and religions, he should add Quranic point of view as well. Being a PhD student I am amazed to study Quran in terms of Creation of Universe, it's process and different stages. It is aligned with current scientific studies even though it was revealed 1400 years ago. I would humbly suggest Prof. Cox (if he hasn't yet) to study Quran and he will be amazed to see amazing facts in it in terms of creation of universe, evolution of life and end of all times. Problems with video streaming occur because of the 'last mile', as it used to be called - if you are on wifi, you should have no problems. And then there are all the videos and content that explain every element of the universe. Ive been immersed for the last hour. ✓ Awesome. This is how a book should work.I'm a huge fan of Brian Cox's videos, and this app has the same feel, and many HD video excerpts from them. It puts other space learning apps to shame. Buy this -- it's probably the best $7 book you'll ever buy. My only complaint (which knocks off a star) is that there seems to be a bug when selecting content. If I tap on something I want to learn more about (e.g. Venus), it focuses but the content bar never comes up. Or if it does, it shows the last thing it was focused on. The only way I've found to get the appropriate content for an object is to use the search box..Version: 1.1

It’s one of the most influential apps I’ve ever owned, and to my delight I’ve discovered it’s sister app: Wonders of the Earth. I look forward to an other 10 years with it. UPDATE: Beyond “Newtons Law of Cooling” the videos do not work. It’s taken me a few days to reach this point, and it’s about 20% of the way through the reel of articles. ✓ Streaming?This is a 5 star app but... There's a problem. Streaming? Owe please don't tell me you did... 😧 I'm shocked. You have. Yes people we have to stream the videos, which means no signal no videos. So much for using app outside away from Wi-Fi or GSM signal. We should be able to choose to download in HD locally to device or stream remotely from server. Another big let down is no bookmarks and no note taking and worse can't get definitions of words. ✓ Wonder of wonders it is!This is the most beautiful and extraordinary app I have. The breathtaking 3D rendering is just state of the art. One can rotate around galaxies and as one moves the star field behind the galaxy changes perspective..this is not some slide show...this is immersive and utterly palpable. Dr. Cox brings joy and a depth of knowledge to astronomy and whoever did the cinematography is a true artist. It fills one with awe for our own world and others also. There is a huge amount of material in this app and the simplicity of navigating allows one to choose just how to approach it and one can return to any place with a few swipes. It is accurate, in depth, glorious and frankly, I feel privileged to be alive today to have such a treasure in my hands! Congratulations to all concerned. Although I knew almost half the stuff on the app before I download (through own interest research). It helped with the explanation of everything, breaking it down to a similar level in which I could understand. 2) Learning it through Professor Cox explanation, videos, images, Animations, information lets you grasp everything of the universe in a understandable way. 3) Don't know why everybody else rating it low, it's an app were you can get information in a way were you could have never gotten it before. The animations for the universe, stars, planets, moons and so forth are amazing on my iPad (2012) retina graphics look gorgeous. Lacks the some things I'd like to know more about, I can't find Pluto and other outer dwarf planets but hopefully they'll add more information in the future. At first look I was quite disappointed as I have watched all the wonders TV programmes and all the video appears to be straight from the TV series, however after reading the text and moving round the 3D universe I am very impressed. Do not let the video comment put you off as its great to be able to watch the sections of video in conjunction with the subject you are reading at the time..... ✓ Nice adaptation of the greatest story ever toldCox is as much fun to read as he is to watch, so if you enjoyed the series, you'll probably enjoy this app. It's perhaps best described as an interactive e-book with snippets of video from the series embedded into it. The graphics and sound are lush, and the interface is perfectly intuitive. My only gripe concerns the video: it's streamed from the publisher's server rather than being part of the app, which isn't much use if you're on the move and nowhere near a wifi access point..Version: 1.11

✓ Omg absolutely fascinatingThis app is amazing. My children love it I love it my husband loves it. We hook the iPhone to our pocket projector from brookstone and make it a movie night. But with everything kids...... They have little patience for the video interruptions. Is there a way we can watch the videos continuously with out have the picture and lecture in between. Although we read your information and look at the pictures the video menu option would be the only thing missing. Oh as we watch the videos the kids attempt to look into space with the naked eye looking for what you just explain. A must have app I would pay any in app extras my hats off to you Star.Version: 1.21

✓ Very interesting but repetitive.Well truth be told this is a very well put together app which takes full use of the iPad and it's strengths the videos are very informative the animation is truly fantastic and the brake down of the graphs and chemical compounds in to easy to understand formats is some thing that others who are looking to replicate this app should take in mind. This said there is one flaw that really bugs me and that is the repetitive nature of the information an example of this is that we are treated to a short video with the prof talking to us explaining about the " Big Bang " and how the first simple structures came into being. Then we are then given text to read which repeats what the prof has just told us then further down the slide again it is repeated. This happens a lot. Don't get me wrong this is a superbly informative app with a lot of eye candy which you and both I will not regret purchasing but I really do wish that the size of the app and it is a large app was not taken up by the amount of repetitive comments. Hence my rating of 4* which is not fair as this should really have a rating of 5* and would have if not for the repetitive information. Just too repetitive see how annoying it is when some one or some thing is just repetitive too much if there was less repetition it would certainly get the coveted 5* that it deserves..Version: 1.11

Brian Cox is a great narrator. His wonder, excitement, and curiosity for the universe is palpable as you finger through each chapter. The entire experience is smooth; Loading time is virtually unnoticeable, which really helps to immerse you into this learning experience. I've had this app for a few days and already there has been an update with new content. Props to the dev team. ✓ Just curiousOK, so I have an iPad 1 and I bought this app. It was late, drink had been taken, I obviously didn't read the compatibly blurb. My fault. But I'm curious. What is it exactly that this app does that means it can't function on what was 22 months ago a state of the art bit of kit? If it relied on a camera that would be understandable, but I'm genuinely intrigued. There are some visually stunning apps that still manage to function via the prehistoric frisbee that is the iPad 1, so I'm not convinced that the processing power caveat couldn't be worked around in the same way that we used to be able to adjust the graphics on video games to allow them to work on older computers. This looks like a wonderful app and I would love to see it, I'll give it 4 stars because I won't trash it because I messed up, but please think about making it work for the millions of us who can't afford to upgrade a £500 piece of kit every 9 months..Version: 1.1
