✓ PerfectAfter receiving support from both the developers and Apple I can happily say that having restoring my iPad completely this app finally installed successfully (and it was nothing to do with a synch problem with iTunes it was a problem with my iPad). I'll now agree with all the positive reviews of this title that with effort to make a change to what reading a book can be like on a tablet this fully deserves to be a huge success and will hopefully mean more great literary works being turned into an interactive reading experience. I read the first chapter last night and am really looking forward to continuing..Version: 1.0.6

✓ FascinatingThis book is a wonderful tribute to Mary Shelley's masterpiece, but it goes beyond that. The artwork in the book is vivid, and the story itself is original. Though the book holds on to certain plot points, there is a wide degree of choice for the reader. The book goes in depth into the science and philosophy of Frankenstein's work, and also shows how the thoughts of the creature may have developed. Mary Shelley would have been proud..Version: 1.0.5
✓ ExcellentIt's a delicious reworking of a classic although I wish the developers had chosen Dracula instead a much better story. Who reads Frankenstein today anyway? The novel has been influential with some imaginative Hollywood films which is its real legacy. The illustrations and the choose your own adventure style are entertaining, it's a huge labour of love and I look forward to any future apps.Version: 1.0.6

The author's attempt at late eighteenth-century diction is a great success (e.g. 'See there! The hand is flexing. The chest rises and falls. Hark! Hear it? The creature's first breath!') The design – with its contemporary copper-plate anatomical illustrations and worn-paper effect – transports you into the workshop of Victor Frankenstein. An ambiguous spatter stain lurks behind the page as you read, suggesting a bodily and a penly origin. I could say more but the monster has just taken his second breath and I have asked Victor to speak to him....Version: 1.0.6

No loosely based film could be a legacy for a book that is embedded even in our own language, no less important than Dracula! ✓ Fascinating conceptMy first work of interactive fiction, what a fascinating way to retell a classic story. Dave Morris' writing is spot on, extending and adapting Mary Shelley's original in a way that feels authentic and true to the source. Inkle's design is beguiling, this is a beautiful, slick app that makes reading a joy. The interactive part itself feels surprisingly natural and unobtrusive to me, it's still very much the original story but you feel more involved as you subtley guide the narrative. The choices you make lead you down different paths in the story so be sure to choose wisely because you can't go back (unless you reset the whole story), which is a good thing because it means you can read it again once you're done. ✓ Can't put it downThis is an exceptional application. The UI is simple and elevates the narrative - structuring it into Parts and Chapters so you know where you are. Yet it does this unobtrusively and in support of the story. I've been a fan of interactive fiction for some time and this ranks up there as one of the most readable and engaging interactive stories I've ever read. It's certainly a 'game changer' for literary applications. The Extras are also nice - the full text of Frankenstein as well as an image library with an explanation of where the images came from. The developer and author bios are interesting, as well. A tremendous amount of thought and work went into this - I can't wait for their next title!.Version: 1.0.5
✓ Stunning achievementI was slightly hesitant initially, having tried to read Frankenstein before. And would the interactive emphasis spoil the atmosphere of the story? I needn't have feared because this has been lovingly produced - with illustrations and presentation that evoke the period and story so well. The choices that are presented are beautifully integrated into the story and don't allow it to stray too far from the main theme. Instead they add to the involvement you feel as you seem to influence the monster's path, or assist Frankenstein in his experiments. I can't recommend this highly enough and hope that the creators, inkle, are sufficiently successful to do something similar with some of the other classics. One of the best apps I've found for the iPad..Version: 1.0.6
