✓ No way to cancelAs many other people I tried to sign up for a free trial and hoping it will be ease to cancel if I decide it’s not what I want, as it’s advertised , but - NO! You can’t! You can’t cancel it! There is no such option, I tried from all devices, every possible way- it’s just not possible, so, after first charge of $40 for something I didn’t use other than spent hours trying to figure out how to cancel it- I contacted them asking to cancel my account- never heard a word back, month go by , I checked and I still was able to log in and no one canceled my account, so now I got another charge of $40 and another few hours of my life trying to figure out how to stop this! I guess I’ll have to spend more hours trying to get my money back as this is unacceptable!.Version: 4.5.7

✓ Quite DisappointingI signed up thinking this would be good for my preschooler. After playing with it for two weeks I’m quite dissatisfied with it. It feels like a bunch of typical school worksheets that vaguely get graded. And even on a bigger iPhone 8+ it’s near impossible to circle things correctly or trace letters. This should be pushed towards iPad only and charge a third of the price. It also didn’t engage my child. He was smart enough to see it was just the same as the paper handouts he gets at school and lost interest quickly. And like so many other reviews mention, I signed up for the free month trial and cannot find any way to cancel (and have now been charged). ✓ Great content, but too many glitchesI’m so disappointed to write this review. I’ve been a fan of “Kids Academy” and their material. My son has always been really interested in technology so a platform such as this one allowed me to expose him without feeling too guilty about screen time. We started purchasing exercise apps from the group (which was a huge success) and later decided to give a try to the subscription option. Unfortunately this app, the one they develop to support the “academy path”, is full of glitches. From the long time it takes to download content, to the constant (soooo constant) clashes, to exiting out of the classroom section,... they just can’t keep my sons attention for very long. After 10 min, having to restarted 2 times and waiting forever for the video to download, and the elephant saying “watch the video” that never starts, my son just throws a “I don’t want to do this anymore” and we are done. Oh well... I guess I don’t want to do this anymore either. We are locked for 2 more month in the quarterly subscription but plan to cancel after that..Version: 5.3.5

✓ The answers are wrong. Parents, make sure you supervise this.This app is not worth the cost. I looked over my son’s shoulder while he was doing the second grade phonics today and the majority of the “correct” answers are completely wrong. Which word has the same vowel sound as “long?” Bat, Tub, or Lace? The answer is none of the above. There were at least 3 other answers in the same section that were also wrong. If you’re going to charge an expensive recurring monthly instead of a one-time up front fee, at least put some of the resources into QA to make sure the answers are right. If it had better content I wouldn’t mind but it’s lacking in instruction and overall richness of educational material. Since I paid for it, I’ll make an effort to use it with my 3 year old. I will have to play the games with her and narrate for her to get anything out of it. I was hoping for something she could do herself during quiet time. ✓ Glitchy and expensiveWhile it is difficult to swallow the price for this app, I felt quite good about the content my kids were being exposed to. Until last week, when I sat down and watched my son plat the game. It was glitchy and froze and lots of the time just didn’t work. I was shocked. After spinning the wheel, he said “math... it never works, it just doesn’t even say anything”. I explored the program with him a bit more and found the functionality to be very disappointing. ✓ Frustrating and overpriced for worksheetsI get so frustrated with this app because it gets stuck loading something half the time and it gives instructions you have to skip skip skip through even though we’ve done it several times an know what to do. . It is really just worksheets so you might as well get a book of worksheets. And this only gives a few worksheets and then you have to go to the website or something to get more. Why not just have more available to continue? We like to do them with the Apple Pencil so that makes it more fun but not everyone has that and a pro. The worksheets don’t always seem appropriate sometimes. PK is too easy but sometimes K or 1 are too difficult - the jump is too much. I like that it has so much to offer but so far it is frustrating and not worth the hefty price. Some if it might be my fault because I haven’t figured out how to access more worksheets or find the activity I want or the video the kids want but I don’t really want to take the time to navigate this app that should be more intuitive..Version: 5.0.3

I went to do this and of course there wasn't an option to cancel or the option isn't easily accessible. This morning I woke up to a charge of around $130, which I have disputed with my bank. ✓ There’s no way to cancelThis company has the absolute worst customer service. I tried to sign up for the free trial but couldn’t figure out how to start the trial. I emailed to inquire about it but did not get a response for days - but they would not extend the trial so I could actually have a week to try it. We tried to use it with the few days we had left on the trial, but the app keeps crashing. We had to delete it and reinstall it more than once to get it working. I decided I did not want to continue the trial, because all my kid wanted to do was watch the videos. However, I could not find any way to cancel because the app is continually crashing. I emailed them three days ago and still no response. In the meantime I find that my card has been charged $40. $40 for an app I do not want and can’t even use if I did want to. ✓ Very hard to use, complex and non-intuitiveThe content and games of this app are great ... far better thought through than most. But there is a lot of ‘fluff’ around them, making it hard to ‘just play a game’ for kids. For example, I just bought the full version and handed the iPad to my daughter. After a few minutes she came back to me, telling me she can’t play. And it’s true, this game REQUIRES me to create an account. Or else, it won’t let you play! Also, it is confusing as to how to START a game, since there are dozens of buttons and lots of small text (in a toddler game). So the kids often end up on the printed sheets which are boring. ✓ Decnt app but costlyThe graphics are cute and well done, the activites are good and kept my 4yo engaged for about 30mins. The app lost two stars because: 1) In order to use the app, your device needs to be connected to the internet at all times. My ipad is not connected to the internet when we're out, making this app only partly useful for us. 2) If you agree to a free trial like I did and decide that you don't like the app, you have to unsubscribe via itunes 24hrs before the last day or you'll be automatically charged $185, which is a full year of premiuim subscription. You can ofcourse change the subscription via itunes; one month costs $28.49, and then there's a few inbetween until you get all the way up to $185. Overall, would I recommend this app? No. There are other educational apps out there that are cheaper yet provide similar activities for parents on the go..Version: 3.3.0

✓ Content fine, app is garbageSome of the content is appropriate. Most is not targeted at the right skill levels, and the app doesn’t learn where a kid really is. It also crashes repeatedly, which makes it super hard to keep a 5 year olds attention. There were also several activities where the positional error for dragging and dropping was not forgiving, making our kid feel like he was messing up when he would sort a red object to a red bin. As a result he would just start guessing. This type of interaction is detrimental to cognitive learning. Can’t believe this app is one of the top recommended education apps out there. $20 a month?! ✓ Good Try. Bad Implementation.The app itself is cute and seems to have a lot to offer. I particularly liked the short teacher led videos that brought concepts to life. However, past that the digital components of the app fell severely short. The games are minimal, and the one we could find was just picking a letter and watching a word come up... that isn’t even a game. By far the worst component were the worksheets. The concept they were going for behind the image isn’t always clear (how is a bridge a ramp?) and we often had to re-try a check mark 4 or 5 times before the game recognized an answer. Finally, we gave up after trying and failing countless times to get past a worksheet on pulling. Beyond that, the concept of cancellation is nowhere to be found. Obviously, we will contact the company, but after realizing this “free” app is 100% locked until you sign up for a disgustingly overpriced service, I’m not surprised they’re being intentionally difficult in this way. ✓ Not Really a Free Trial - STOLE my moneyThis is my second review - my first seems to have been removed. I downloaded the app for my daughter to test using the 7 day free trial. Before allowing for use, we were made to choose a package for after the trial if we decided the app was a good fit. ✓ Beyond FrustratingThis app is beyond frustrating! I’m sorry I renewed my subscription. It costs CAD$190.39 and crashes constantly, neglects to save most of the work my son completes and he is sick and tired of having to do the same lessons over and over without ever seeming to move on to anything new. When my son uses his finger or Apple Pencil to complete the worksheets, his lines, circles and check marks are often missed/ undetected by the correcting scan and there are postscript errors in some work sheets that cause inverted images when printed. ✓ Way too many issuesI don’t recommend this app at all. It’s been an absolute hassle for us. My daughter completed kindergarten and 1st grade and then all of her progress disappeared. We cannot access the reports either to see where she was last and what she has completed. I have contacted Kids Academy multiple times about this and it has yet to be resolved so I am requesting a refund because I purchased the lifetime subscription but I can’t get any help resolving these issues. This is one of my daughters main educational tools she uses especially during the summer months and I’m extremely disappointed in how this has turned out for her. The only screen the app shows on any device is the price list to subscribe. When I touch “restore subscription”, a circle spins and nothing is ever retrieved no matter how long I allow the circle to spin. I understand there’s a free trial (a very short 7 days) but I don’t want to deal with canceling if it doesn’t turn out to be what we imagined. And based on other reviews canceling is indeed a hassle. Perhaps it’s the business model; force users to buy a subscription and make money off those who forget to cancel, in addition to those who use it legitimately..Version: 8.0.7
✓ Don't Download unless you want a headacheI downloaded this app for my daughter and it didn't take long to realize that it really wasn't what I was looking for in an app for my daughter. Nothing against the app, but She has another learning app which covers everything in this one. Within hours of downloading the app I tried to cancel my free trial. When the option wasn't available via support (as per the instructions) I emailed the company that I wanted to cancel. They responded offering me a special price on the app to which I responded no thank you, and again requested they end my trial immediately. Well, today I was charged the annual subscription price for this app! Despite my having asked twice to please cancel. App buyer beware, evidently the free trial comes with some serious bags attached, and you'll have to put in some serious effort to dispute charges..Version: 3.3.0
✓ Very bad experienceI downloaded it for my K-year daughter. She loved the beautiful design at first however was very frustrated with the sudden and random system crash. It happened frequently and every time she had to re-do the quest again. Plus we found the lessons and tests seem too easy for her. I’m not convinced she can really have good learning experience with it compared to some other learning apps she has been using. Finally I decided to not continue subscription on the 3rd day morning after downloading. It is still within the 72 hours of free trial, I got access to my phone on 7:15 am, and found that it was automatically renewed on 7:02am. I contacted the customer service immediately but haven’t got any reply. Very disappointed!.Version: 7.3.7
