Arise: Food & Calorie Counter for Negative User Reviews

Not really workingIt doesn’t calculate properly the calories. Plus I found zero food available. I had to introduce manually all the data. I should be payed for that...wasted so much time with it already..Version: 36.0.3

I want my money back!I’m only 13 and thought why not download this as it’s free, today I had my phone in my pocket and clicked on the app unknowingly and bought a 3 month subscription for something like £23 by accident! This is ridiculous and id like my money back, I’ve deleted the app and cancelled the subscription but I’m still being charged. This app says 4+.Version: 37.2

No way know to me how to cancel this subscriptionThis app has no easy way to find out how to cancel the subscription.. following the link in the arise help page takes you to the App Store .. the App Store only shows payment choices ie monthly/yearly $ rates but no cancellation / or method.. Does anyone know how to cancel?.Version: 39.2

What a horrible useless app.Don’t fall for the seemingly good reviews; they have most likely been bought. This app is taking advantage of people who wants to lose weight and live healthier. As you already know, those kind of foods already cost an arm and a leg, yet this app is constantly attempting to take even more money of you. I have deleted mine as there are a lot of genuine free apps out there that will help you. I believe this one is one of the worst I’ve ever used..Version: 40.2.8

A poor effortThis app is difficult to use, there’s a tremendous lag when typing and it’s difficult to find foods. Chicken salad, for example, shows as carbohydrate heavy..Version: 31.3.7

Needs workThere’s a bit of work that needs to be done before this could be rated as a good app. Why can’t I change my own password? Why can’t I track fibre, saturated fat, vitamins and minerals? Why can’t I edit my calorie or macronutrient goals? It feels like a light shell of an app the moment. I’ll continue to use MyFitnessPal, which may not look as stylish as this one but definitely has more depth..Version: 38.1

Good potentialSolid app but unless you have the premium version, is a pain to use. Will constantly bombard you to upgrade. Basic functions require a premium subscription. Better off getting another tracker out there..Version: 37.4.16

How do I change my password?Not good..Version: 37.4

No very intuitive or easy to useI’m on day three- I’ve used Noom before and loved it but it’s pricey. I don’t like the way arise CONSTANTLY nags you to upgrade. I appreciate they want you to but it’s in your face all the time. I would like to see if I get in with the free version first. Despite saying it could it doesn’t draw data from my phone step counter which is irritating. The calories/ food log is great if it finds the exact brand you eat. It could do with some generic options or the ability to put in the actual calories rather than adding to the apps database of foods which takes time. We cook a lot at home and can take a good guess based on ingredients but the app doesn’t really help with this. I will give it a week or so but I’m not very Impressed..Version: 37.4

Impressed with the look, failed on the trustworthinessOn the surface I liked it and was considering the subscription on day 1. but thankfully I thought I’d better try it first for a few days. The calculations are totally untrustworthy. I had to add a can of tuna ten times before it was actually recognised/saved. And it seems that adjusting the portions of an added item has some big bugs too. As I said, it’s a good looking and functioning app on the surface. But I want something more solid and trustworthy..Version: 41.3.4

LackingNo product images, almost no customisation in settings.Version: 38.5.3

Having to scroll so much / no orderIt must have taken me nearly 10 minutes just to log my breakfast. Having to scroll is bad enough (rather than typing in the food and it comes up) but the worse is that the list is so random - not even in alpha order. Regret the purchase already..Version: 40.5.1

Limited food itemsI paid for the yearly subscription, I should have played around with the app longer before vomiting because when I go to create recipes there is nothing in their data base that I am looking for. I try scanning the item and still nothing. It’s a pain having to create all these food items just to build a recipe for calorie countin..Version: 39.3.14

Crappy appCrappy.Version: 39.1

Could use improvementThe set up and display is nice. However they don't have much food already input into their system, other apps have ALOT more. It's takes too much time to enter everything in there and because of that I would Not pay for the app over myfitnesspal pro or anything else....Version: 20.0.22

T is no god for people with eye problemsAs above no good if you snd read the read the details The text in this app has greatly improved And I am going to try it out before I consider to purchase it It looks OK new but only been on how to see the operation of my half way input only I cannot really comment on what this app can actually do !.Version: 40.5.2

Wouldn’t recommendAt first I really liked this app until I noticed when you take a picture of the barcode for food, it doesn’t give the correct calories. I scan bread which is 70 calories per slice but the app says it’s 60 calories per slice..Version: 38

LimitedHave to look calories up as meals and can only add a meal if you sign up? Waste of time..Version: 37.4.15

PoorDoesn’t have most of the foods I’m eating. If I scan the barcode it says “not found”, and when I try an add it myself it doesn’t let me. So most of the stuff I eat I can’t actually enter! Much better apps available out there.Version: 36

Would like Energy also in metricThe app can be switched to metric but leaves energy consumption in Calories instead of the metric Joules which is has been the National standard in Australia for decades..Version: 37.4.16

Easy to use but functions are really limitedEasy to use for calorie counting. However, it has very limited settings. It would help if I could enter the precise amounts of grams in portions, set goals for macros, and set clear calorie goals manually for each food intake of the day. Also, being able to see the graph that shows the weight progress would be helpful. Editing my recipes in my profile but not the food log could also help. I hope that soon there will be an update allowing more flexibility..Version: 40.2.6

First Day; First ImpressionsThank you for this! BUT As a Bodybuilder, I may not appreciate the reduced calorie recommendations. I need 2000-2300 kcal per day Still figuring things out! Barbara 💜.Version: 39.3.2

Helpful but...Great app, I love how I don’t have to find out how many calories in everything I eat and I can just search for what I had and that it calculates how much I should eat (and drink) and when, however I did think that it would add the calorie count to the health app (on iPhones) and it doesn’t, I don’t know if this is a ‘PRO’ feature or just something isn’t working, but I’ve set it all up and triple checked it and I still don’t have it uploading dietary energy, does upload water however 🤨.Version: 37.4.7

Not reading calories in EnglishWent to ap settings on phone and does not show. Help please. Unusable if can’t figure this out. Paid for a year..Version: 20.0.94

Security concernsThe app’s UI and idea looked great so I purchased the Pro version. Upon login I learned there is no way to set my own profile password. Instead, users are left to use the one generated by Arise. I was told there is no way to change this setting and because of this, I have requested a refund and complete removal of my information. Still waiting on an email response from support…...Version: 38.3

Beautiful UI, terrible CDN database. As mentioned in the title, the UI is really aesthetically pleasing and intuitive. Love the integration with HealthKit, however, two flaws bring this app down to 2 stars. First, detailed information about nutrients isn’t available in app and doesn’t send to Apple Health - automatically rendering this app’s utility to me extremely low (no information on iron, fibre, vitamins...). Second, the Canadian database is practically empty. Every food I tried to scan in or lookup could not be found. The app tells you you can change your database region in the Settings, but the only option I found to change the language which isn’t the same. Overall this app has potential but for now is a complete pass for this Canadian consumer..Version: 37.4

Meal logsCan’t find a lot of the food when trying to log my meals.Version: 37.4.2

Not a clue what’s going on!Signed up for a year today. I can’t find any guidance or instructions within the app! Very unclear. Hoping it will improve..Version: 37.5.3

Unable to select monthly optionI purchased this app thinking I would have an option to select monthly subscription however when I downloaded it, it automatically set me up for an annual one, and can only select monthly after my yearly subscription expires in October 2023..Version: 39.6.5

Barcode reader is extremely poorImmediately on downloading I tried to scan some common foods, such a bread Aldi always carries, a common brand of canned salmon, and finally JIF peanut butter. None of these were recognized by the barcode scanner, and the result was a message that not every food has a barcode entered yet. For the price of this subscription, I expect a decent database of food. These are common foods, not rare oddities. This is a dealbreaker for me. Other apps manage to recognize these foods. I’m not going to manually enter everything I eat. Hopefully, the developers will improve their database and barcode scanner because it’s very poor compared to several other apps I’ve tried..Version: 40.2.27

OkNot particularly user friendly but also not the worst..Version: 20.0.97

Can’t change languageI’m based in Canada but my app on Russian language. Can’t use.Version: 39.6.11

Worse version of my fitness palFood data base is severely lacking, the scan function has not worked thus far. cannot easily navigate how to change the portion sizes. creating food items not in the data base result in inability to choose portions other than slices or cups. after adding a food manually because it is not in the database it does not automatically add to your day’s food but disappears into the database and you have to play a waiting game to see if it will show up. just stick to my fitness pal. biggest waste of money ever..Version: 38.1

Too complicatedOver done and there is no simple path that I can find. Example If I know the cal count I should be able to enter it. For me it is a total waste of $26 with no refund possible or support to help me. I simply deleted the app and forgot it!!.Version: 37.4.4

Doesn’t recognise any barcodesNo barcodes or search food. Back to fitness pal.Version: 36

No option to maintain/gain weightI have no idea how the interface is because I didn’t bother going passed set up. I put my current weight (which is 10lbs underweight) and the only option i could choose for my goal weight was to go down to 108. Not up. Very disappointing. Guess I’m sticking to MyFitnessPal..Version: 20.0.44

Pretty, but serving sizes limitedThis app has a beautiful layout, but as soon as I started entering foods, I realized this was not going to be a user-friendly format. For example, I entered oatmeal for breakfast, and instead of 1 cup cooked or other measuring cup options, it only offered a bunch of serving sizes in ounces. I have a food scale, but it did not specify if the nutrition facts were for dry or prepared oatmeal, so I was not sure what to enter. And if someone didn’t have a food scale, then they would not be able to track with this unit of measure at all. I think I will stick to MyFitnessPal for now, but hopefully this app will correct this issue so that it can be more user-friendly..Version: 20.0.68

Hard timeI am using the free arise app . I’ve scan in barcode of foods but when I type in the name it says that food is already entered but I’m unable to find it to add it to my meals. If I look on the list of similar foods the one I want isn’t listed and the calories, fats, carbs etc vary and so I’m unable to add the proper amounts to get the calculation right. It must be done that way so you have to purchase the plan:(.Version: 37.4.16

Trying to delete this appHow do I delete this app?.Version: 20.0.58

Not user friendly!Trying to navigate this is a real challenge! Not exactly user friendly, or intuitive. Paid the price so I’m determined to figure it out! I would like it when you add an item it allowed you choices for portion size like; slice ( bread or cheese) teaspoon, tablespoon, cup, ounces. Or number as in number of crackers per serving..Version: 37.5.6

CostlyYou can get all the functions for free on other apps.Version: 38.0.4

DisappointedI’ve downloaded this app 3 times and the weight option has the lowest weight one can choose at 900lbs..Version: 20.0.92

Crap if I could give 0 stars I wouldI only used this app for under a month, I found it really difficult to use and when entering foods it would never come up with the wright thing! I had to pay £35 for the year only used a couple off times. Went straight back to using my fitness pal which is free and so much easier to use….Version: 40.1.4

A real review. This AP is the worse! Confusing and ALWAYS trying to upsell. Very annoying! I’m going elsewhere for my weight loss solution..Version: 38.0.4

UselessWorst app I’ve ever used and they have the cheek to charge £23 for it, Plus there is no way to cancel it, keep your money in your pocket because this app is a total waste of your money.Version: 39.3.11

Code barreJ’habite au Québec, j’ai payé pour l’abonnement d’une année. Malheureusement, votre code de barre ne reconnaît pas les produits. Que dois-je faire? Merci.Version: 20.0.81

To whom it may concernI’m trying to get in Touch with the app support How can I do that?.Version: 20.0.81

Forget this oneTerrible data base. If you’re going to put out an app like this, you should take the time to build a decent data base. Logging one’s meals shouldn’t take a long time. Two thumbs down¡.Version: 30.3.0
