✓ Sparkly Piano App for Children!Piano Star! – Learn To Read Music makes very effective use of a wide variety of auditory and visual effects in order to create a highly interesting, sparkly way for children to learn to read piano music. 1. Turning the sound effects wheel on the left allows the child to hear notes played by various instruments and even sung by various animals! (Beginning with the piano would probably be best.) 2. Pressing any of the 21 middle keys of a piano keyboard allows the child to hear how that key sounds and see how that key is represented on the treble or the bass staff. (Tapping the treble clef changes it to a bass clef and vice versa.) 3. Dragging the note on the music staff (or using the up and down arrows to move it) to any location allows the child to hear how that new note sounds and see where it is located on the piano keyboard. (The piano key that is represented by the note is highlighted in light grey.) 4. Looking to the right of the staff allows the children to read the letter name for each piano key and its representation on the treble or bass staff. I (wrongly) assumed that this would be a good place to start my non-music reading kiddos to get them introduced & perhaps quiz them to the learn the notes. Thought I might enjoy brushing up, too. From the images, you can imagine that it might have some fun little challenges, right? Umm. No. So here is what it does (or did, before I deleted this waste-o-memory app): You tap the note, it shows you where it is on the staff. You can give the note different sound effects - xylophone, birds chirping, etc. yup. That's it. Worth a dollar right? Not even close. This would be boring even to my two year old..MomAloHaVersion: 1.0.5
