The lack of words is key, the child can make up an ever changing story each and every time they play. Maybe this time the cow needs rescued because the thunder cloud knocked the tree over and scared it into the pond. And guess what??! Firefighters to the rescue! The story continues. It doesn't surprise me since this one has the best animations and sounds. Plus, kids love fire trucks and police sirens. When she needs a 10 minute distraction, this app delivers. After two months its effect is wearing off on her a little but for a while she was completely in love with it. I know the app says it is for ages 3+, but I think as long as your kid can figure out that touching things will make them act, they'll enjoy it..Version: 2.2
✓ Gorgeous, beautiful and charmingI have all the wonderkind apps on my iPad, having started with tiny firefighters for my, then 2 year old, son. He's six now and still occasionally plays them despite the louder and glossier appeal of so many other distractions at his disposal. In our modern world, these apps feel as close to an old wooden toy as I think you can find on an electronic device. The animations are delightfully drawn and wonderfully inventive. The slapstick is very funny and the various other stories either educational or just fun to watch. Best of all is the music. ✓ Ah, is that a sniper on the roof?????I have purchased all of these apps for my grand daughter and was very disgusted to see that the Christmas 2013 update includes a sniper on the roof, firing on the towns people below. Complete with little puffs of smoke coming from his gun. How do I explain this to a four year old? The police access the roof through the skylight and take the person away, only to have him reappear moments later. A burglar, in the meantime, ends up in jail, from which he soon escapes. This is an unforgivable change and I urge the developers to remedy this app..Version: 2.1
