Footpath Route Planner for Positive User Reviews

WalkWorks great.Version: 4.1.8

Plan Your Routes, Vary Routes, Vary DistanceThis app is absolutely indispensable for runners who want plan their routes, whether it is to vary their routes but not their distance, or if they just want to map out new routes. This app has allowed me to map out several routes of varying distances (from 4 to 10 miles) without having to cover the same real estate twice. The mile is pretty accurate too, matching the distance of my Garmin Fenix 3 +\- .05 miles. If I could export routes to other apps, or enabled the app to give turn-by-turn directions over Bluetooth, this app would be that much more useful..Version: 2.2.4

StellarI've been using this app for a few years now, and it's been consistently improving. When I started using it, it was a good app, now it's great. Planning to run specific distances is challenging. Unless you're ok with doing out & backs for the rest of your life, you're going to have to start making some loops, and that's where this really shines. The capability of _quickly_ creating routes to export as GPX Tracks that can be uploaded to your favorite running watch alone makes this app indespensible, but the ease of creating the routes is what really makes this app special. The technology honestly blows my mind. Making new and interesting routes has become a kind of mindless past-time which leads to some pretty interesting rewards while running. I'm pretty busy, so writing reviews doesn't normally make it into the priority list. This app is so useful, helpful, and simple to use that I felt compelled to say something about it. Get it. You'll be glad you did..Version: 4.5

Well the planner is good...I was impressed by the route planner and decided to test the App on an 8 mile walk on and off road. That’s where the App loses 2 stars... admittedly the voice guidance is a good feature, but sadly fails to inform you when you are off route. Public footpaths are notorious for branching off (sometimes in several directions) and allowing for possible GPS glitches the App did not notify me. Looking at my mobile I could see my mistakes on the map and had to backtrack. Also the map itself was outdated... voice and visual referred to & showed a local Railway Station that closed in 1966. Nice to know from a historical perspective but if I were new to the area I might be puzzled. That said, if these issues were resolved I would happily subscribe to an otherwise good App..Version: 4.2.2

Superb appI am using this application on iPhone and iPad. It is amazing. Easy to figure out the features. Very easy to use. Fantastic accuracy. I recommend it to everyone. I love the fact that I can use it even in areas where are no trails shown on the map but I can get an approximate idea how difficult the terrain is as far as elevation difference is concerned and an approximate distance. I tried a few similar applications but they didn't come even close to this one. I purchased a pro version of Footpath a few years ago. It's the best tool for planning..Version: 2.2.4

What has happened to ‘snapping’ to paths etc?Once upon a time, the app was superb at snapping to tracks, paths and roads etc. Now however this feature (identified by the ‘blue’ magnet) is truly awful and no longer snaps anywhere near as well as it did. Often the snap doesn’t work at all or it will snap way beyond where you tapped or it won’t replicate the path faithfully missing out bends etc. What have you done to make this feature so bad now? It is very clunky - if I wanted this experience I would be using Plotaroute free of charge!!! Please please fix it in the next update and put it back to as good as it was…..Version: 4.7.3

Awesome app for planning runsThis is a awesome app for planning runs..Version: 4.9.15

Getting thereReally great app for planning my runs.Version: 2.2

Anytime, anywhere, this app is the bomb!I absolutely love this app. It’s a great planning tool before going running, backing, walking, etc. I’ve used it while backpacking in wilderness areas as my map allowing me to stay on the trails that are hard see or may be lightly used. Once when trekking down a creek, I used the app to find the nearest trail. I also use it plan my running routes. When planning long runs and need to plan a route of 20+ miles, this is my tool to determine where I go. Just using my finger, I can plan a great route, save and even check upcoming status. The snap to road and trails is one of the best features. I have not found any other app that provides the ability to plan and execute type 2 fun and exercise!.Version: 4.9.1

Great appI have just started to use Footpath for walking and have found it great to map my walks showing me how long it's going to take me and how hilly it will be. Thanks Margo. It's taken me a while to work it out but now understand it better and recommended it for everyone. Thx.Version: 2.2.4

Love this appThis is an amazing free app. Every time I’m out and about walking in the local forests and woodland, I depend on the Footpath app. I have always found the mapping to be detailed and accurate and it allows me to navigate complex routes efficiently. The routing feature is also extremely useful for pre-planning a loop to and from the car park and giving an accurate measurement of the distance to be covered. The GPS signal picks me up wherever I am so I never feel lost..Version: 4.6.2

This is a killer app if you have a dogGoogle Maps is great for roads but doesn’t include footpaths which this does. However it also allows you to quickly plot a route my just drawing a rough outline over the map on your phone and gives you the total distance. This way you can easily adjust the walk to suit the time you have. It’s brilliant and allows me to discover good places to walk the dog wherever i am in the UK. I absolutely love it. Minor quibble is that it takes a few seconds to update your place on the map each time you come back to the app after your phone has been off. Developers. Something I’d love to see would be the ability to search/view particularly good walks based on location/distance/landmarks. Either a curated selection or via community voting..Version: 4.6.2

It’s ok, it paid version was disappointingThe free version is definitely worth installing and using for runs/hikes. Pros: 1. I LOVE the drawing feature. Being able to draw a route is really clever and I use that all the time. The annoying part is that footpaths only remain visible at a close zoom (see con below), so it can be quite tedious drawing long routes 2. Distance markers along the route are really useful 3. Really like being able to store and recall routes Cons: 1. Too many features are “elite” version only, in my opinion 2. I’m in the uk and it’s missing quite a few public footpaths in my area, so I tend to have to cross reference against another app. 3. Zooming out is annoying as the footpaths disappear, whereas other apps I use keep the footpaths on at all zoom levels. 4. I tried the elite version to try out route prompting from my iWatch. Maybe it’s because my watch is old (series 3), but the execution was flawed. Voice guidance was buggy. More often than not the guidance would be clipped such that I only heard either the beginning or the end. Ie instead of hearing “take the next left”, I would either hear “take the” or “left”. Other times it would just fail to say anything at all. 5. Sometimes the guidance was confusing. I mean, what does “continue right on straight ahead” mean?! In the end I cancelled my trial. I’ll stick to the free version and check my phone if I think I need directions!.Version: 4.5

Love itGreat app for planning your outings.Version: 4.0

Amazing app very accurateLove this app. Amazingly accurate and has all the trails and paths. Very well thought out..Version: 4.1.5

Loving this app!!!The only reason I didn’t give a 5 star, could be my own fault. Ending a run on my Apple Watch is always confusing. I’m never sure how to end it, and once I do, I’m not sure how I got there. Having said that, I love this app. I love creating my routes, I love the colors that show me the hard hills, I love being able to transfer my route to my watch, I love that most of the time the turn-by-turn instructions come through my Shokz (occasionally if my STRAVA- which never comes through my Shokz- announces my mileage in close time to a turn, footpath will announce through my watch, but then reset and come back through my Shokz). I’ll be going on vacation and I’m using footpath to plan my runs in another state. Soooo worth it! Thank you!.Version: 4.9.15

Excellent for hikes/walks and w/ watchI tested this app on a holiday in the Cotswolds alongside another map/tracking software that used pdf topo maps I created from other route data sources and open source GIS desktop software (yes, I am a geospatial nerd). The convenience of the Apple Watch integration and the additional features, like elevation profiles, made this app my primary tool for planning and tracking our walks by the end of the holiday. I went ahead and subscribed to the annual plan because this app earned it, and I’ve been using it for hikes closer to home in the Sierra Nevada mountains more recently. The route data sources have been excellent and reliable, and this is a new favorite app for me..Version: 4.9.7

Game changerI love this app, there is nothing else like it for planning a day out on my mountain bike. I love it, one comment is that the map is difficult to see in daylight. The blue on a grey background if very hard to see when out and about. I can’t find a way of altering the colour contracts for a white background or perhaps a yellow line to follow. It could be worse, I could be colour blind, and as the map is small there would be not chance. I’m sure this is fine for slow moving navigation, just tricky at speed..Version: 4.4.3

En Route to a Better FootPathI am a pre-diabetic middle aged male who needs to map out routes for safety and distance. I enjoy the Elevation change feature, and the variable map overlays DO help. This app has many great features! One feature that I think is missing is a flip route feature. Sometimes I want to change my perspective as I walk. Just one idea. I have seen the Out & Back feature added recently( or I JUST noticed it). And have used that successfully. I also enjoy the send to watch feature for my Cellular & GPS enabled series 5. Rarely has the voiceover feature actually worked as I listen to podcasts or audio books while I’m out. I like the haptic feedback at the mile markers very much. I just hope there’s a way to not use up so much battery on my AW5. Another small issue that I’ve had happen is after I sent the route to my watch it appears there’s a second or 3rd instance on the cue. I would like a single reasonable “ONE time” fee but I suppose Developers need a continuing income stream to continue developing and improving the app. So keep working at making it better and worth the annual price and I’ll keep coming back. Overall a 4⭐️ out of 5..Version: 4.8.1

My go to Maps App!Works very well. Great selection of maps including OS Maps. Fantastic route planner with snap to path feature and information on time it will take you and gradients. Works with Apple Watch also to give turn by turn directions and warnings if you’ve gone off route. Improvements I’d like to see, faster loading of maps, better offline maps, full maps with scrollable/ zoomable maps on Apple Watch..Version: 4.7.3

This is an excellent App with minor issuesSo I totally appreciate how it tells your height of the hills. I never ever take this with me. So every morning I do 5.73 miles. I do the 3 highest hills in Watertown Ma. Today I did it 1.41 hours. The only issue I have with this. Is when you say the exact address. I place’s you in the area. This is minor. But then once you are where you start. When you start. And you put it up 3 streets. It try’s to suggest this way. So you have just take your time. But I love this App. Another thing, if you want to change the route slightly. It makes you to have to re route the whole thing. Because since March 13 when the Gym closed. I gained 4.6 pounds in the first 2 days. Now, I’m even to the gym. FINALLY!.Version: 4.1.10

AmazingI just wish these subscription based apps had a one time purchase price (I would pay over $100 for this app) as I hate not owning what I pay for. That being said, this is the only subscription I have ever paid for on the App Store which speaks to how good it is! The ability to add a description or photo to my saved routes would be a nice update..Version: 4.9.14

Best mapping app!I’ve tried several mapping apps (OS Maps, Komoot, ViewRanger , AllTrails) and none of them have been as brilliant for planning routes as Footpath. The snap to map feature is so helpful, making it easy to plan a route exactly following the paths. It clearly shows the different types of route (footpath, track, cycle route etc) and even has the option to view the OS Maps. I pay for the premium version and recommend this app to everyone..Version: 4.6.8

Huge thanks to the devs for iPhone X supportThis app is massively under rated. It is monumentally useful for anyone who wants to plan a route and then be able to export as gpx. It skips the bells and whistles but what it does, it absolutely nails. I myself am an avid hiker and i cant express just how good it is being able to sketch out a route with my finger and have it snap not just to roads, but footpaths etc. I thought the devs might have stopped developing the app but im so happy to see its now been updated for iPhone X and the “Query limit” bug has been fixed for the ascent/descent graph. A couple of features id love to see added are: - ability to scan an imported gpx and automatically have it snap the route to the nearest footpaths/roads. I ask for this because i download a huge number of gpx files where the route is a little rough due to lack of waypoints. This can result in distance/altitude accuracy problems (as well as making navigation difficult occasionally). It would be wonderful if the app could sort of autocorrect this by making a best effort to snap an imported gpx to proper paths. - better gpx editing features. For example, it would be great if you could select two waypoints, and then draw in a new section of route between them. At the moment you can only edit so far as removing the last waypoint that was added; so it would be great to have extra features in this regard..Version: 2.3.1

Great mapping appI have been using Footpath app for 5 years plus and it has served me well. Very easy to create routes and share them with friends. I use it for making routes in the city and for long distance bike tours. The ability to create the route on my iPad, save it and almost instantly have it on my iPhone is great. It handles off road routes and contra traffic routes easily so you can customize a route..Version: 4.9.3

Great for planning and whilst riding tripsFantastic App, works really well. Would be better if you could set it to orientate North or Direction of travel, like Google Maps. Also, now in Opencycle mode it has big watermarks saying API Key Required, which is annoying..Version: 2.2.4

Great appPerfect for planning my LSR's. Easy to use..Version: 2.2.4

Great for planning runsI have had this app for years now. This app has been excellent when planning my runs so I can mix up the places I run and let people know what route I am taking. I am enjoying being able to get GPX files for routes. It is always up to date with trails. This has been an excellent subscription and one I will continue..Version: 4.7.1

Perfect for city itinerary planningI use it to plan my itineraries when I visit cities. It is simple to use and is very useful. The only improvement I would like to see is to be able to modify a section in the middle of the path..Version: 2.2.4

Saved our livesHad footpath downloaded when a tornado cut through the trail we were hiking completely destroying all trail marker trees. We were able to use footpath to navigate out before dark. Thank you..Version: 4.7.3

Fantastic hiking appThe best app I know of to plan a hike. It’s so easy to see what you’re in for when deciding where to go. The two key things I want to know are distance and elevation gain and this app makes it simple to learn both before I head out. Plus it also shows the gradients along the way plus where I am on the trail. And if while on the trail I want to consider changing my route it lets me know the distance and elevation gain on my new proposed route. Really well designed and works almost flawlessly..Version: 4.1.6

Great for planning running routesOn my 42k training plan. This app is great for planning where and how to get in those kms for the weekly long runs..Version: 3.1.3

Fantastic AppBest app I’ve used for planning and navigating skateboarding and scootering routes!.Version: 4.7.3

Absolutely love this app!I run every day. Usually 10km plus and this app has been instrumental in keeping my runs varied and fun. Also when I've been abroad I've discovered some epic scenery. This app gives me the confidence to go off the beaten track and really explore the area I'm in. Thank you so much to the team working behind this. Currently I'm running a half marathon every day for the homeless charity Crisis and I'm using the app wherever I am to plan routes which reliably show where footpaths are and help me plan my route. To all that work at footpath I wish you a very merry Christmas!.Version: 4.1.5

Brilliant appStarted with the basic free app which in itself is a little Gem. Started doing a bit more winter walking where paths are sometimes unclear, so bought the elite. This app keeps you on track (literally) and it’s been a god send especially up on kinder scout yesterday in the snow! Also really great feature being able to import gpx files and then alter them to suit your needs. Definitely recommend paying for the Elite but just try the basic and that may be enough for what you need..Version: 4.5

ImpressiveTicks all the boxes for me however the ground truth is only as valid as the satellite imagery and can be dated. Update 1 Jun 20: I have been using this app for a number of years and it has consistently improved over that time. My only issue is that it will allow you to plot walking routes over private land. I would love to be able to see this app merge with OS mapping to give you better ground truth. However, after reading reviews on the issues OS mapping Apps have, I doubt this will be a quick fix. Is there anything that can be done development team????? At present before setting out I have to double check the legality of the route with paper OS maps. This lack of versatility sort of defeats the object this app’s supposed to provide..Version: 4.1.10

Excellent app, best out there from my experienceHave tried several alternatives and this is easily the best of the bunch. Latest update with some extra Apple Watch features makes it even better. Very accurate and flexible overall, great to be able to discover new routes and paths. Suggestions to make it even better : - A way of sharing routes- it would be useful to see suggestions from other people when you come to a new location - Changing a previously planned path while en route is tricky, haven’t really figured this out, there should be a more obvious way of doing this.Version: 4.9.5

Enjoy this App...I only have the free version and like it better than Steps apps because i can plot new walks, check the distance, and go. It is quite simple, and that is all i need. KISS- keep it simple....Version: 4.1.8

Great app!Easy to use, great visuals. Map a run, hike or bike route in seconds!.Version: 4.1.5

Love this appBest app for planning adventures (and I’ve tried a few) And keeping track of those completed. I would just like somewhere to keep notes as well. Also would love topo maps for more countries.Version: 4.9.15

So helpful.I doubt if I am a typical user as I am disabled but that only makes me appreciate Footpath more. I use it to find the shortest and easiest way to walk somewhere locally. It follows the footpaths better than any other map I have tried (including within the local park). Most maps that I have come across don’t include footpaths. Then when I have tracked where I want to go, I can see the distance and the slope. I live up a steep hill but there’s steeper roads that I like to avoid..Version: 4.7.4

Love the altitude tracker on the mapThis is a wonderful tool for planning a walk, hike, run, or bike ride, but also works when you map it after a walk. I'm always happily surprised I went that far! This app keeps getting better and better with each new version. It's great to see how your elevation changes right on the map when you run your finger on the altitude bar. Fantastic tool! Love being able to map out on my iPad and get in my iPhone..Version: 2.2.4

Great appLove this app! I’ve been using it for over a year and have never had problems. It’s perfect for recording runs and works without data..Version: 4.2.1

Add note facility ?I have used the app on a few walks now and have found it excellent. I also like how easy it is to plan a route by tracing it with my finger. This is far easier than any other similar app that I have tried. I have now found my ideal walking companion. It would be even better if it were possible to make some notes about each walk - perhaps about some problem on the route, the weather or something or someone interesting that I encountered on the walk. The app could then function as a simple journal for my activities..Version: 4.9.6

Blooming awesomeTake dogs on several walks in local area, used this for first time to log the walk through woods sometimes off beaten track as minor paths are too small for satellite navigation but you just add the actual GPS track and my god how brilliant this app is, if I had asked a developer to create an app for my dog walking this would be exactly the app. I have cancer and walk fir exercise this app is awesome in as much I share walk with wife or friend and if I get into difficulty they will know exactly where I am. Can’t wait for future developments on this, simply far out awesome.Version: 4.7.3

Good for what it isThis app is pretty good because it allows you to use your finger to create a route and not find a existing route or create a route using particular points. The thing I don’t like is that just to save unlimited routes you have to pay money. I mean common! This is just a route creator and you have to pay! I only kept this app because there is simply no app which can do the same thing but with unlimited routes. Hopefully some day the developers will realize their giant mistake and actually make it free but until then I suggest only get this app if you’re okay deleting routes, only being able to save 5 routes, and if you wanna get all the great features pay..Version: 4.1.8

Great app - could be better with projected route duration.Great app, just missing e-scooters as a transport option. The app already calculates the distance using roads, footpaths and bikeways, it would be great if the app could calculate the likely duration based on the mode of transport. For e-scooters by having the user set their average speed for footpaths, roads and bikeways in ‘settings’, calculating the approx. duration could be relatively easily achieved. Of course this would apply equally for bikes, skates, etc. also..Version: 4.1.10

Ideal for walk/hike planningI’m having a lot of fun creating and saving daily walks. I like how you can “do over” a walk if it doesn’t reach your desired distance (I aim for 5k a day). The map is very up-to-date and recognises stairs, back lanes and pedestrian-only paths. Recommended..Version: 4.9.6

Best app for Apple Watch UltraThe Apple Watch by itself is terrible because Apple software is very basic. Supposedly it’s going to improve with watchOS 17. We shall see? but with third-party apps it rivals any other outdoor watch on the market for tracking and mapping. Still doesn’t have the best battery compared to Garman, which I have used also. But good enough for me. I’ve tried several third-party apps Gaia and all trails, and this app is easier and faster to use than any other app..Version: 4.9.7

A running companion essential!I use this app to plan my running routes and calculate distance and elevation. Couldn't find any other app like it. I plan the route on my iPad and then transfer to my Garmin watch through Garmin Connect. Worth every cent for the Elite edition. Love it!.Version: 4.8.7

Map updateI like this app, but they really must get updated maps. There are new roads in my area and this app still has maps from 2 years ago..Version: 4.0.2

UPDATED: All routes NOT lostI originally thought all routes were lost after this update. They were not lost! The routes were located in a list named “Other.” This may have occurred when I transferred everything to a new iPad. In any event, this is a great app. I use it mostly to track where I’ve been rather than where I’m going, but I love it! Original review: Just updated the app and lost ALL of my routes. Unbelievable. Use with caution and don’t trust it with anything you care about..Version: 4.6.4

Appli pratique et très facile d utilisationJe recommande grandement pour créer rapidement des itinéraires et les déclencher par la suite. En plus il est bien intégré et a jour avec les routes sentiers et vélos du Québec..Version: 4.7.3

I use it every weekI use this app to map out bike rides and walks and it syncs between iPad and iPhone versions. It can also export the route which is really useful. Highly recommend..Version: 2.2.4

So good!I was looking for an app to plan routes for my runs so I could run certain lengths and I have hit the jackpot! It seems accurate and is super easy to use. I also like how the route drawer doesn’t force you to run on streets. That allows you to plan routes while running off trail! Also, it has a tool that will make sure your route drawing stays on the road. This is an extremely functional app. Even without in app purchases, this app is great..Version: 4.2.1

Really easy to use and great featuresI’ve used this for about a year now and I really think the cost of the premium was worth it. Drawing and saving runs has been easy. Every once in awhile the drawing doesn’t snap to the street but it’s minor and not repeatable or often. The topographic maps are great too so I know when there’s a hill. Overall, even the free version is great but limits you to five saved runs. Thanks!.Version: 4.9.5

Excellent AppWorks perfectly for planning runs and rides in the UK as it uses the Google Maps data in the background but looks like it can use others with an in app purchase (which I'm yet to make but probably will as this allows GPX export). Much easier to use than the Ride With GPS website in mobile Safari. Handy way of planning rides etc on my iPad and iPhone without having to go near a computer..Version: 2.2.4

Excellent GPX planning appWhen I ditched my MacBook Air several months ago, I was looking for a replacement to using my previous route planing website, which allowed for GPX export I could then subsequently load onto my Garmin Fenix 3. What seemed like an easy chore, proved very difficult. Footpath was the solution I was looking for! Easily planned routing, saving, and subsequent export to my device has made this app a no-brainer for me. The recent Fall upgrade has made it even better. Question: previously, I was able to manually arrange my created/saved routes in any order I wished. I’m not able to do that since the most recent update. Am I missing this feature, or was it removed? Previously, I tapped the “edit” button, and, in addition to the red delete symbols along the side, it had little “grabbers” beside each route that I used to order them according to my preference..Version: 3.0.7

My favouriteBest mountain biking route planning app I’ve found..Version: 4.7.1

Great!A phenomenal app, it’s everything I want it to be 👌🏻.Version: 4.1.5

IncredibleThis app is amazing!! I thought it was going to be a rip off but for a free app it works so well and has improved my running so much because I can now plan distances and elevation accurately..Version: 4.6.4

Burns Beach to Mindarie BeachGreat uphills and down hills, not to busy wide paths.Version: 4.9.10

Excellent for creating routes! This is the only app I have found that allows you to create routes by touching a trail. You don't have to touch every spot, just every half mile or so and the route "snaps" to the trail. When done it displays distance and an elevation profile. A number of different background maps are available, including USGS Topo, satellite maps, etc. Access to the maps are via WIFI or cellular data. However the saved routes can be exported to other map apps that can download maps for off-line use..Version: 2.3.2

FantasticThis app is fantastic. I am one who is horrible at memorizing specific directions. And this is the only app that allowed me to draw out my own specific route on a GPS for me to drive to get to where I need to go on longer routes. I do not like that I have to pay for the full version to get voice directions however, it is worth it for me. And I do wish you could change the voice of the person speaking. Thank you very much for this awesome app..Version: 4.1.5

Elegant and Easy To UseLove this app, with powerful route generator including importing GPX files. Choice of maps plus for offline use can auromatically download a wide swath along selected route. Very cool..Version: 4.5

Fabulous walking-route creator!I love this app! At first, I wasn’t sure how it’d be useful and I continued to rely on other apps that have pre-set walks. But living on a boat on the inland waterways and moving continuously, I soon realised how much more useful this app is. Wherever I am, I can easily create walking routes that utilise roads, footpaths and bridleways and edit them to give me the length of walk I want. The detail is amazing with every odd little bit of footpath logged so I can join them up into intricate routes. The fun thing is that, unlike the typical well-trodden pathways of most walking apps, you have no idea what to expect with these - some overgrown, some through fields with donkeys or cows, some across rail tracks (small recognised crossings) and so each walk feels like a micro-adventure!! Also very easy to use, edit and save routes. One of my favourite apps! 🏆🏆.Version: 4.0

Mostly delightfulAnd have spent hours trying to find a decent route planning application that will work for walking and for cycling in town. There are so many with lots of hype and plenty of badly designed features. Footpath is designed both to help you find a route and to allow you to adjust it if you like. Unfortunately, the visual navigation instructions are not very clear, and especially when relying on the watch app, they are quite confusing and do not keep up with you when cycling..Version: 4.3.1

This is the best route planner on the marketThis is by far the best app on iTunes. It’s got absolutely everything that runners/cyclist/hikers need to plan their routes. Super easy to use & must have for everyone. I use it instead of google maps (its so much better), as a sat nav (to show me where I am) and as an outdoor gps. It ticks all the boxes and would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Thank you for this app!.Version: 3.0.7

Fabulous! This app is awesome! I just moved to a new area that has a lot of trails in the bush between places, and it’s helping me learn them and feel confident in using them. This would have been so helpful when I rode my bike across Canada. It took a bit, but once I figured out how to use Footpath, I saw how fabulous it is. Topography combined with paths no other mapping system seems to have with the ability to simply draw and have the app find the route the way it does, changing for different modes of transportation … I’m sold! So fabulous!!!.Version: 4.9.13

The definitive route plannerI have been using Footpath for a while now, and quickly upgraded to the Elite version to take advantage of the better mapping and other features that this offers. I have not come across anything nearly as good as Footpath for route planning - the ease of plotting a route is incredible and the developers seem to have squeezed in so many features in a deceptively minimalist interface. For many months now Footpath has stood me in good stead on numerous UK walks. One of my few criticisms was that the mapping options on offer, whilst very clear, lacked some of the detail that Ordnance Survey maps have. The latest update, however, has added full OS mapping, which for me makes this the perfect walking app. The inclusion of the OS mapping, at a lower price than that charged by Ordnance Survey makes the Elite subscription an essential purchase. I have tried and deleted a few other app before discovering Footpath. I kept just one of them because I wanted OS map features. Now that Footpath has this covered I will be cancelling my subscription to the other app. Thanks to the developers for continuing to improve and enhance Footpath.Version: 4.6

My favourite app! This app is simple to use, really functional and accurate. I use this all the time to plan running routes. And occasionally use it to help me find my way when I’ve gotten lost. Well done!!!.Version: 4.4

Works well for meI don’t currently have an iPhone, Apple Watch or Fitbit that could map my hiking and running. Plus I don’t always want my location services on. Using your finger or a stylus, you use this to map out distances and routes for hikes and running/walking. I travel a lot and get out and explore whenever I can and I use this app often. Overall it seems to do a good job of finding/tracking the trails and roads that I use. It also gives you elevation gain, which is pretty helpful, especially if I’m hiking in the foothills or canyons..Version: 4.6.4

Does what it promisesTakes a little practice to finger-draw a path that will snap just to the streets you had in mind. Easy (and often necessary) to draw in segments, mixing snap and non-snap portions, although it can get tedious deleting, since erase is sequential by last-drawn segments only. Plan on paying one more time if you want more than the bare minimum function. Includes and provides easy switching between half a dozen street, satellite, topographical and specialized walking and cycling maps - basic price is worth it just for those..Version: 2.2.4

Not reliableI have tried a few walks from my house. I did not find it easy to use. I couldn’t find the option to walk from A to B. It seems only to offer a loop or the same way back? Most importantly it took me on paths that are not footpaths (open to the public). I know this as one of the routes took me through my neighbors property which is private. I have canceled my subscription..Version: 4.9.15

Overall great app, but could use some tweakingOverall the app is great, but the turn by turn assistance could use some tweaking. Getting yelled out that your off route every 5 seconds when you’re just on the other side of the street gets old fast. Also maybe the addition of auto routing at a set distance, instead of just drawing out your own would be a nice touch. It would allow for a little more spontaneity and exploring..Version: 4.5.1

The App I've been looking forThis is such a great app..Version: 2.2.4

Every hiker’s friendPerfect for hiking in Australia. Most hiking tracks are on Open Source Maps, so you can easily draw a proposed route along a track and see how long it would be and how hilly. I use this weekly to plan my hiking. Easy also download the maps of a route for offline use, plus importing other peoples GPX tracks is so easy. I recommend it to every hiker I meet!.Version: 4.0.2

Free version a little restrictive.Overall a great app, but a little disappointed in that it won’t let you check all its capabilities without paying a subscription..Version: 4.9.5

Great mapping appReally good for planning and drawing a route, easy to edit and most importantly, really easy to follow the route on your phone when you’re out there. Love that you can download a route as I’m often out of service when I’m walking. And being able to send the start point to Google Maps is very useful. Overall i can’t fault it..Version: 4.9.15

Best and easyTo map a walk ahead of time or after one, it’s the best app. The other are clunky and annoying, hated them all..Version: 4.1.5

Exactly what I wanted.Super. Allows me to map my run and that’s it.Version: 4.5.1

Full-featured outdoors appI’ve been with the G***** ecosystem for over 5 years now and this app is one of the first to provide many of the best features of that platform. It’s easy to use, offers great metrics for your outdoor activities and is reasonably priced as well. I found it through several searches for the Apple Watch, and I am not disappointed at all. The Apple experience is very close to being superior to the one I came from, and I recommend this app without hesitation. PK.Version: 4.9.6

Footpath keeps me going!Great app, easy to use, Love it!.Version: 4.0.4

Great!Awesome app, use all the time to retrace my path and see how far I've gone. Works great and very easy to use. Have used on all my trips.Version: 2.2.4

Off the beaten pathI live in the piedmont of western NC and ride a motorcycle…a lot. I’m only about an hour from the Blue Ridge parkway which runs through the most beautiful mountains in the United States. The Blue Ridge and the Smokies and I like back roads that provide me fantastic views you’ll never see with your GPS. There are breathtaking waterfalls all over western NC that aren’t on most maps - you have to find them. GPS takes you from point A to point B…period. With FOOTPATH I can explore and discover. That’s my zen, my natural high and this program gets me there. No other map does that. It’s a bikers best friend!.Version: 4.8.7

AwesomeReally helpful if you want to plan a walk with a set distance and very straightforward and easy to use.Version: 2.2.4

Good appTop app working real well for me.Version: 4.4.4

Love itI love the phone app, precise and reliable..Version: 4.6.1

Running wishbookLike most runners, I enjoy plotting out routes. This program is easy and intuitive and fun eye candy. Well worth purchasing..Version: 4.6.1

All in one light route plannerThis app is by far the greatest route planner I have used! I have used it to plan walks, drives and travelling by public transport. With the elite subscription which is excellent value for money you can have unlimited routes and access to all sorts of different maps including Os maps for the UK. Waypoints is also another very useful feature to add points in your route which originally I experienced a few bugs with but after reaching out to the developers they fixed it right away. So overall the app is very well supported with fast responses from developers and it works well for all sorts of situations..Version: 4.9.5

SweetNicely executed app lets you set up to five routes in the free version via the “My Routes” feature. Terrific relief and bike path overlay functionality in paid “Elite” versions. Plus further route management if you need to save more than five..Version: 4.0

Favorite route planning app!Just figured out how to import maps from Caltope so I can preview routes that are upcoming trail races that a race director has created and posted. And am learning how to use the turn prompts in the race. Seems to be a certain order of which app to start first, and trees and ravines throw the gps off a bit; but overall a great app. Have been using it for several years and love to have old routes and races stored. Now it’s easy to separate them into categories too. The various maps are great!.Version: 4.9.13

Bravo au créateurC’est la meilleure application!.Version: 4.1.9

Great Navigation while on runs without my phoneI am loving the paid version of this app for sending a route to my Apple Watch and getting audio navigation. It took a while to find the setting to stop it from adding two runs to my activity but once I did this app does everything I hoped for. The setting is on the actual watch app so runs only log from the Apple Watch activity not both..Version: 4.4.4

This app is incredibleI use Footpath multiple times a week and couldn’t be more impressed. Most of my runs are on trails and my Garmin isn’t even close to as accurate as this app. The trail maps are remarkably extensive and I also use it find trails which don’t appear on Garmin, Google, or Strava. Most of my experience with this app is in Portland, Oregon but I use it when I travel and it’s worked great everywhere I’ve been. Overall the app is intuitive and easy to use. The drawing feature is super useful with snap to map on or off and everything loads really quickly. The maps are beautiful and the ability to store lots of routes made the elite version worth it for me. I’ll be using this app for a long time..Version: 3.0.7

RecommendVery usefull.Version: 4.6.4

All better nowThe map wouldn't show anymore the last time I wanted to trace out my run. After deleting and reinstalling the app I can draw my run paths again..Version: 4.5

Misleading: no family sharing!!!This is a great app and when I contacted support he was v friendly and tried to help BUT don’t buy this app under the misapprehension that your family will be able to use it. They won’t. This misrepresentation is not the developer’s fault, it is Apple’s and it has to do with an inability for apple’s platform to allow sharing via in-app purchases. However, it could be highlighted in this app’s content. I got caught out - just make sure that you know what you are buying..Version: 2.3.2

Brilliant!!This app is AMAZING. I’ve just moved to a new area and the app is helping me both to exercise and get to know the area. The only thing it doesn’t do, or maybe it does and I just can’t work out how to do it, is to save routes you have done. So that you can keep track and also compare times etc. I’ve recommended the app to everyone I know. The directions are so thorough (but not annoying) so even for someone like me with no sense of direction, it’s impossible to get lost. I have saved a number of circuits (routes) from my house, of differing distances. So I can just pick which one I want to do easily every day. And I even enjoyed planning them! Being able to draw the map and it then snapping to roads perfectly is just awesome! I also love that you can google or Apple maps to a start point if you’re not going from your own home. Honestly, this app is brilliant. Apart from that one issue mentioned..Version: 4.2.4

MerveilleuxTrès bien fait! ENFIN! Une excellente application fonctionnelle! Un must!!!! J’adore 👍❤️❤️❤️.Version: 4.6.7

Highly RecommendedI just started using this route planner and I LOVE it. A few others in the past have been good, most are designed for iphone and don’t do landscape on ipad (I hate that). One of my favorites just got CRAZY expensive, so I went hunting. This one is $23/year, which is an excellent value in that is allows super easy route planning, AND route sharing/following. To the latter, routes can be loaded into an Apple Watch and followed/recorded as you ride (or run), and routes directions can even be download for offline use (fantastic!)..Version: 4.5

Useful app for the walkerThis is a great app, I use it often to help me plan my routes. It picks up all the roads and paths on the required route. Try drawing a circle and it give you a route..Version: 2.2.1

Back to being perfectOne of my most-used apps. Simple to use and does its job perfectly for me. My only recent gripes have been lack of iPhone X compatibility and issues with snapping to roads and elevation profiles. Both these issues have been resolved in latest patch. Development seemed to stop for a couple of years. Hopefully now it will be maintained again. For me, it doesn’t need to be bloated with more features; just stay on top of bugs..Version: 2.3

Great for planning routes & distancesVery easy to use and worth getting if you want to plan your routes & distances on & off road.Version: 2.2.4

Best app for planning routes & exploring new placesWithout a doubt THE best app I have on my phone (and there are a lot!). Easy to use, brilliant for mapping out walks or runs and fantastic for finding new routes especially when on days out or holidays in less familiar areas. I have recommended this to loads of people and everyone has had excellent feedback. If I could only keep one app this would be it..Version: 4.5.1

Great app!Definitely would recommend. in my opinion this is better than the official Google maps app. it's really accurate and helpful for measuring distances and elevation along roads and freely on the map.Version: 2.2.4

Very useful appUpdate May 2018: so glad this hasn't been left to die! Apparently a new version is on the cards too - well happy. Update June 2017: I think this isn't being actively developed or supported. The dev isn't responding to emails and there's an issue with some of the open source maps - there's a change to how they're licensed to developers and need registering for use with the app. While it's still usable it would be a shame if it was just left to die! The most recent update has improved this app with the ability to rename saved routes - would be cool to have the option to actually edit the routes themselves (so you can add or remove portions of a route to create a new one. I've found this to be an incredibly useful app over the past few months. I've been recording the walks I take and even if you occasionally have to draw a path 'freehand' the accuracy of the distances and the elevation profile make this a must have app for walkers, runners and cyclists..Version: 2.3.1

Version: 2.3.2

Go to PlannerI have been using this app for at least the past 5 years. It is without a doubt, my go to cycling planning tool. Highly recommend it simple, straight forward and very accurate..Version: 4.5

Excellent for sports route planningI was after an app that let me plan local running routes for 5k 10k and other set distances. This is it! So easy to draw a route, immediate measurement and waypoint markers for distance, as well as gradient scale for planning a hilly or easier run. Am currently planning routes in Canada, London and Portugal for training whilst on summer travels. Easily finds and tracks those roads too. No idea what other reviewer meant that it doesn't work away from home?? As for not tracking footpaths, just use satellite view, uncheck snap to roads and you can draw freehand and still get gradient and distance. App support is fantastic. Emailed with a slight sync problem between iPad and iPhone and next day had an answer from developer who also responded to suggestions in a follow up email. Absolute top app!.Version: 4.9.13

Great at what it doesThis app is very good at what it is intended to do (or at least what I intend to use it for). I just wish it had better integration with third party apps such as Strava. I mapped out a backcountry XC ski route in an area without signal and service with the intention of using offline maps and cue. It was very easy and intuitive to draw the route in my iPhone. transferring to my Apple Watch Ultra 2 for the offline map and cues was a breeze. It worked very accurately starting in an area miles away from cell service. I was able to run Strava in the background with a couple of swiping press of the buttons. This third party app takes advantage of what Apple has set up for developers to use to make the Ultra 2 compete with Garmin Epic and Fénix..Version: 4.9.15

Easy to useEasy to use, only wish the erase function was more obvious. Love the map vs satellite display.Version: 2.2.4

Looking real goodWas looking for an app that had a tool to create multiple stops and show distance (seeing as Google maps and safari struggle with these) and the drawing function makes creating a route really easy. I’ve just created a 10k running route which laps my town using cycle paths and roads and saved the route for when I want to use it. There are some features which are locked unless you buy their subscription feature, such as being able to navigate your route, and you can only save up to 5 without the subscription. My only other gripe is that the drawing tool seems to prefer to stick to a road rather than a path, but can be fixed by turning the ‘magnet’ off. Other than these, the app is easy to use and look forward to using it in future..Version: 4.6.7

Easy - quick - accurateLove this app!.Version: 4.5

Perfect Apple Watch appI never write reviews. But this is literally the single best app of any sort that I have ever used. I use CityStrides to walk every street in my city, and the Apple Watch Footpath app is absolutely perfect for helping guide me through a lot of unfamiliar streets without ever using my phone. Other apps were prompting me multiple times per street, but Footpath has perfect turn by turn navigation and shows you the next 3 upcoming turns. There’s live breadcrumbs on the map, so I can see which streets I’ve already covered. There’s great Action Button integration, so I can start Footpath with one click and then toggle between the live map and the turn by turn instructions with a click. And on top of it all, it makes managing my music or audiobooks easier too by including media player controls. Great job Footpath team!.Version: 4.9.15

Finally, something that works on Apple WatchI’m traveling around South America and it’s an absolute pain to keep digging out my phone when I need left or right directions. Apple Maps isn’t supported here, and Google Maps just doesn’t want to work. Even if it did, Google Maps just gives a list of turn by turn directions. No map overlay. Footpath to the rescue. Sure, it’s a premium feature, but it’s legitimately the only thing I can find that just lets me send a route to my watch and make sure I’m not going off course..Version: 4.9.8

Great toolThis is a great tool. It records routes and rates. It let’s the user export routes that can be shared or imported into another app or device. In theory the reverse is possible, but I haven’t done that. It’s not Facebook for runners. You can share your workout, but that seems secondary. Primarily it helps you plan and record activities. How it does that is it lets me draw with my finger on a map to figure out how far I am going and elevation changes on the route. I know if I’ve increased the distance enough or too much before I leave the house. I know if there is a big hill or valley on the route. The planning done or just out the door and start going, it will record the activity and tell me how I did. What do you want?.Version: 4.7.3

Excellent Route plannerIt's the app you want when you want to plan hiking routes. It has all you expect from a good iOS app: simple, intuitive, not over-featured. It gives you the length of a walk and the ascension, and you can export the GPX to use with any other app. That said, simplicity comes with a compromise: the app only handles straight routes, no alternatives, branches or so. It currently can't read such GPX files either. Also if the underlying Open Street Map misses path connections, then the automatic snap mechanism won't work. Something to work on for the future..Version: 2.2.4

Truly a great appTerrific app for planning a bike route or a hike. Allows access to Opencycle maps plus Googlemaps, street, satellite plus others. A few things that I really like are the 'snap to road/path' facility, the hill contours and a nifty button to show the elevation through the route. I also love the facility to export geo files to use in other apps (through 'open in) or to import into other devices. I tend to plan a route using Footpath, then 'share' a gpx file with the Bike Hub app through 'open in' for spoken route instructions to my destination. Finally my routes are automatically uploaded into iCloud, so I can create the route on my big screen iPad and view it and use it on my iPhone. Great stuff..Version: 2.2.4

Very usefulTakes a little while to adapt to but then is extremely useful for time trials, run comparisons, elevation etc.Version: 4.9.4

Highly recommend!Great app! Exactly what I was looking for when looking for a good route planner!!.Version: 2.2.4

Fantastic app!Love being able to draw a route!.Version: 2.2.4

Fun to planAll the features are simple to use and helps me to plan my cycle trips.Version: 2.2.4

HappyWas I happy to find this app.!Works like a charm. So fun to plan a bike ride and be able to see how far it actually will be..Version: 2.2.4

Great app, but would be awesome with live elevation!Have been using footpath for a few years and seen it come along way. Only thing remaining that I could hope for, would be to see the elevation chat live while I’m riding the route. I use another app for this at the moment though would happily drop it to have everything in the 1 app 🙂.Version: 4.1.5

The best for runnersI can quickly plan a route in this app and share it to the garmin app to follow the route on my Fenix watch, simply awesome.Version: 2.3.2

Best App for RunnersI travel a lot and I need to keep training for all the races I’m doing. This App allows me to plan my routes anywhere I am and transfer it from my IPad to my cell. Great job guys, I love this App..Version: 3.0.2

5 star trainingBrilliant app. It’s helped me hugely in my preparation for increasing my running distance. I have been able to map out where I am going each run and how far I am going. I started with about 4.5 km and now nearly up to 20 km not sure I would have done this with out it.😀 It took me a little moment to figure out how to use it but it’s very easy to use and you can save all of your maps for future reference. Very good motivation for building up distances. I use a pen with a rubber dauber on the end as I find it’s just easier control rather than my finger..Version: 4.1.4

Life changing appAmazing app. Easy to use and military grade accuracy. Very easy for planning simple 5km, 10km, 20 Km hikes and rides. Does everything I need without the overkill that some of the other apps do. For 90% of the time I just want to plan a simple, interesting and different walk near me and discover new tracks and routes without the worry of getting lost. This app gives you more confidence to push yourself further. Adds more variety and helps you push your hiking to new levels..Version: 4.6.7

ExcellentFacile à utiliser ‼️.Version: 4.1.5

Fonction Apple WatchDans la version du Apple Watch, il y a une option: utiliser avec une autre application de fitness. Qu’est ce que c’est ? Merci.Version: 4.2.4

Excellent ApI enjoy taking different routes each day and can't wait to get home to check how far I've walked. As with another comment made, the ability to track and trace on off road areas is very useful..Version: 2.2.4

IndispensableThis is my go-to app for planning out all of my running and riding - ranging from back roads, bike paths, single track and fire trails. I use it every day and recommend it to any one who wants to run/ride/walk the path less travelled..Version: 4.4.4

City break saviour! My wife loves the sun, especially when travelling abroad, but also loves running -whatever the weather. Using this app to plan runs for city breaks in Europe has 'saved' me a few times. Pouring rain in Rome, no problem - ideal running weather (for serious runners). Put the App Map into hybrid Satellite/outdoor mode and snap to footpaths you would not otherwise know existed. Excellent for discovering parts of an old city you would never normally see as you link up the famous landmarks. Love this App!.Version: 2.2.4

Exactly what I was looking for. This app is exactly what I have been looking for for hikes & MTB rides. The feature that allows you to trace your route is fantastic & the development team did a great job programming the software to figure out what my fat fingers are trying to tell it! I haven’t used all the features that this app offers, so I’m sure I’ll find even more features to love about it. The only thing that I wish it had was either a “vehicle-driven” mode or even better, the developers would create another fantastic app just like “footpath” for offroad vehicles. Seriously, some of the Offroad apps are fetching $50-$80/yearly subscription & ive wasted over $100 already on a few of them. I’d gladly pay for one such from this same development team. Perhaps you could call it “tread path” or “tire path”! You can use that suggestion however you like, but I would welcome a free subscription ;-) Anyway- if you hike, ride off road/on road, or hunt for Sasquatch & want to be able to plan out your route to do so, get this app. You’ll love it, I promise. If I’m wrong, you can say mean things about me on the internet..Version: 4.2.2

This is such a cool App!This app is perfect for planning routes, and I’m enthralled by how this app even has all the small/secret trails in my area, it makes for exciting runs/hikes. I even like how there are more than ten different map types, including a nautical map (so cool). One of the coolest things about this app, other than the fact that you can make routes, is that this app color codes hills based on difficulty, very cool. This app inspires me to run more, and it helps me keep track of my miles, keep up the good work!.Version: 4.1

Great interfaceSimple, well executed App. Very useable..Version: 1.1.2

Great idea, hard interfaceI really really want to love this app. It has so much potential. But, honestly, the route scripting in urban environments is poor. It doesn’t adjust easily. It assumes you want to do out and back or other options and makes them hard to correct. It will not allow you to draw paths where it doesn’t know they exist. So, for example, there is a well known path through a public right of way in my neighborhood; because the app doesn’t know about it, it wants to add an additional two miles to my route. Why is it so hard to just have a simple routing app that calculates mileage?!? Why can’t an app just trust that I know what I’m routing when I want to tell it, yes, I can go that way? So much potential, but the bells and whistles defeat the basic purpose of the app..Version: 4.9.4

An essential app for anyone who likes walkingThis app is a must for anyone going for a walk. I don’t know when I originally downloaded it, but earlier this year it proved invaluable. My husband (who I now realise is not a good navigator) suggested a ‘walk’ whilst we were in the Lake District. Having walked for several miles up a very steep hill, it became obvious that we were not on any recognised route. My phone and this app are the only reasons I am able to write this review today. Since discovering my husband’s said limitation, we have used the app on numerous occasions to plan and navigate our walks. The security offered by the app has enabled us to stretch our capabilities, opening up a whole new range of areas to explore and views to enjoy. A huge thanks to the developers..Version: 4.1

Fantastic AppI have used this app for planning and mapping out training runs of distance and difficulty and also for training walks for the Oxfam 100km walk. The only thing I could wish for is for the app to read the directions to me from my phone (so I can plan and use it actually on the run), or even better, transfer the file to my watch. 😃.Version: 2.2.4

Best and most Accurate Route Planner by FarI am an avid trail runner and hiker and I basically use this app every day. I like to change up The routes I run/hike so that they are always fresh to me and this app has been such a useful tool in helping me do so. The free version is useful for anyone, but I am subscribed to the premium version (which is very fairly priced considering I use the app so much) because I really like to save routes so that I can analyze them before I run or save my favorites to run again in the future. I also race many times a year and some of the races are too far away for me to do a pre-run to check out the course design. Footpath allows me to plan out the route beforehand and view altitude changes along the route so I know what to expect when I run on race day. Definitely recommend this app to anyone as the app is versatile for walking, running, hiking, biking, etc. Keep up the great work, Footpath!.Version: 4.5

Not perfectNot perfect, but it's the only decent implementation of this type of app so I'm happy with it..Version: 2.0

Je ne peux plus m’en passerDessiner, du bout d’un doigt, sur votre écran le tracé de votre parcourt, modifier le facilement, voyer le déniveler, puis laissez-vous guider..Version: 4.9.8

Best Tracking and Planning AppHaving tried a large number of apps this is by far the best I have found. Perfect and easy to use for planning new routes. Great for tracking and storing rides. Have recommended this to a large number of people who also love it..Version: 4.7.3

Fantastic for Routing in Unfamiliar AreasI have been using Footpath for a few years now, but not even close to the capacity that I discovered today. I’m staying with a family member’s acquaintance in a neighborhood I’m not familiar with. On my laptop I planned a couple of routes, knowing exactly how far I’d walk, where the inclines would be, and saved them to a folder of routes for this town. It was great to see those routes available in my iPhone app! Then I figured out how to send the route to my  Watch! It was awesome to get turn-by-turn updates, and have the workout added to my Health app automatically. And it let me control my music playlist as well! What an awesome tool to help plan, execute, and track my walking workouts! I feel motivated to get out more regularly now having a guide on my wrist to walk in neighborhoods I’m not familiar with! Great, great app!.Version: 4.7.3

Amazing butThis app is amazing but in some places it is not so up to date. The road I live on is still known as its old name and the shop at the end has changed owners and names multiple times but it still shows the old name. This isn’t so much of a problem until you draw you route and not all the roads are there. Other than that small issue that you can work around there is not a lot wrong with this app. It’s great for planning your route and seeing how far it is! Keep the maps updated and this could easily be 5 stars!.Version: 4.1.5

Works wellThe user interface is a bit wacky but worth spending some brain power to resolve. I’ve used it to plan a route on both a (small) iPhone and iPad Air with success. I’ve used it in some mountains in Spain and no problem with the GPS properly tracking the map. The audio prompts were useless, often plain wrong away from roads, so have been configured off. Disappointing to have no Apple Watch map display, so not yet a winner, not a 5 star app and my search goes on..Version: 4.1.5

A runners dreamThis apps exceeds expectations and is highly reliable, accurate, efficient and trustworthy. A must get for all runners!.Version: 4.4.4

Joy to useMakes planning running routes a joy! (Especially with Apple Pencil on iPad Pro) Highly recommend..Version: 4.7.2

FootpathSo easy to map out a simple walk and how many km you can walk around your local area.Version: 4.5.1

Accurate Footpath DataThis is a great app which, in my experience, is far more accurate with the “snap to path” function than OSMaps is. When using OSM i frequently need to cross check a path location as it’s not always clear which side of a boundary the footpath is located. Footpath clarifies the situation every time and highlights problems with the functionality of OSM, it’s an essential application and companion for users of OSM (& no doubt other apps)..Version: 4.8

Best (of many) I’ve usedI’ve been having too much fun drawing gravel bike routes to explore (and then riding them) . The drawing function - on an iPad - is excellent, and the app is really well designed (good set of features) and well implemented (haven’t hit a bug yet). It’s not so useful unless you subscribe to store maps, but the annual cost is entirely reasonable. And they don’t ensure you into some social media/advertising scheme (which I hate) as most apps do. prefect app for road, gravel, mountain bike route planning.Version: 4.9.10

Best app for planning runningI have used this app for years to plan runs all over Europe and while I use others related to running watches etc. This is still the simplest and clearest. It gives the right information in a really straightforward way, telling you where steep slopes are and a profile for the whole route. I keep coming back to it again and again and it doesn’t disappoint..Version: 4.4.4

The best has just gotten betterOK this is going to be a rave. Nobody is mentioning what I thought was the most interesting thing about new version 3. The old version would switch maps automatically depending on zoom level, but the new Footpath Outdoors map appears to just combine all the information of the old maps without the jarring switch. The tutorial is very brief with only the basics covered, but if you haven’t found a feature you want - for me it was how to switch snap types on the fly - keep poking controls in the corners and it’s a good bet you’ll find it in one of them. (The snap switch is a few extra taps to switch but it does work smoothly and consistently.) The new editing tools are hugely welcome! I don’t recall if I could edit saved routes in the old version, but that’s in here now. I haven’t found a way to edit start points, so unless I’m just missing something I’d recommend zooming in very close on your start point and then backing out to complete the route. I also appreciate the new account system where I can create/edit routes on my iPad and see the same routes on my iPhone. The grandfathering of my old saved routes into the iPad was very nice - I was briefly afraid I’d have to pay again until I found the secret instruction to invoke it. (Pssst - hey dev, I’d have paid it anyway, but thanks, that was very kind.).Version: 3.0.7

Great little appI use this app for mapping out our riders distribution areas. Couldn't be easier Well done team!.Version: 2.2.4

Footpath - way to goJust love this app - have used it all over the world. Reliable and very easy to use.Version: 4.9.7

TerrificBeen doing a lot of walking during lockdown and Footpath has been perfect for mapping out a new 5km route to have a change of scenery..Version: 4.4.3

Brilliant For HikersAnd really for anyone who wants to walk, run, or trick off road, maximising footpaths, and unsealed tracks..Version: 4.9.7

It’s a breezeAre usually don’t write reviews, but this app deserves it. The user in your face is clean, intuitive, and full of features to boot. Creating routes on mobile or desktop is simple and painless. I especially like the elevation map features. Sharing maps is another win. You can share your maps by link and others can view the map on mobile in a four featured web UI without downloading the app. Great work!.Version: 4.9.5

Brilliant for route planningThis app completely changed how I plan my runs and let me discover places where I’ve never been before. The various maps are much more detailed than your usual Google or Apple maps and have all the small footpaths and walks in the area included so no more guessing if some turn is a dead end or not, how far something is, etc. The elevation plan is very helpful too - you will know how flat or hilly the planned route is and change it accordingly if you’re up for more (or less) challenge. Route planner as it should be :).Version: 4.4.1

Absolutely fantasticI have been waiting for a route planning app of this caliber and functionality for ages. It is so easy to use. Easy to plot, modify, save and share with other apps. It has a fantastic track function with heaps of useful features and information. No gimmick workouts or other pointless features. Just navigation rich. Love it!😃😃😃😃This is by far the best navigation app available. Love it..Version: 4.9.5

‘Walkable’ AppEasy to use, plan a route ahead, capture where you’ve been after. All good on this App..Version: 4.5.1

Excellent for the Apple WatchFinally found an app that works on the Apple Watch without the need for having the phone on me which is really useful for workouts. Fantastic user interface to create routes with ease and follow along either on the phone or watch. Tried numerous apps, but this one stands out as the best for me. Highly recommend..Version: 4.6

Essential toolI have several apps for navigation and route planning and yet it is footpath that I keep coming back too. It’s the app that I use to plan, assess and generate the route whether it is a simple walk around the streets, a bushwalk, bicycle trip, mountain bike ride, kayak or sup. The app is simple to use; the overlays are fantastic, the ability to save (and sync across devices) and the export of files to other apps or other people just makes it invaluable. I will admit to using other apps for the actual navigation, so footpath is mainly my planning app, but the tracking and recording of activities are excellent in Footpath. However, I prefer exporting a GPX file to my bicycle computer or watch. Highly recommend this app, and it's been a very worthy upgrade to the paid version..Version: 4.3

Location Services BrokenLocation services is broken with Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Footpath. Location Services on the Ultra 2 during Footpath setup never turns green. Unable to use any GPS features of the app on the Ultra 2. UPDATE: After uninstalling and reinstalling both phone and watch versions of the app I had to power off my phone to allow me to setup Location services in the app. Restarted the phone and everything works fine..Version: 4.9.10
