✓ IXL is pretty awesomeI think this app is amazing to get smart over time. It has all the year levels that kids have and IXL can help with all abilities. ✓ Okay AppIt’s a pretty good app and good for learning. But one thing I don’t like about it is that when your close to getting 100 points, for example, you got 99 and then you made a small mistake on a question and it takes you back to 90. It’s pretty annoying, I think it should at least take you back to 95 or around that number. I just think it’s not really fair, and I know this has been said by many people. So it would be awesome if you could change it. Other than that, it’s an amazing app! Well done!.Version: 4.2.1

✓ Trackpad SupportThis app is really helpful for my GCSE training, but as a trackpad user, this app really isn’t helpful. I can write using my keyboard but I can’t select things using my cursor on my iPad. Please fix this as I am sure that all trackpad users will be grateful.Version: 6.5.1
✓ Mum’s point of viewIn my opinion this is wonderful app that kids can use it without any adult supervision. It covers all of the content in Math and English. There is no possibility for cheating. Any wrong answer put them back so they will try to do their job carefully. The app’s explanation for wrong question is awesome. You just need to determine your kid’s work and after the allocated time, check that whether they have done their job or not?.Version: 8.3
✓ HelpfulThis app has really helped improve my ability for the 11+ ;however, If you choose one of the topics to work on for example prime and composite numbers the same question is repeated just in different words which is good ;however, it is helpful to Know how to do the same subject or topic in different problems for example word problem problems Also, as someone who took the 11+ this January 2020 I found it very helpful to revise and due to that I got two scholarships for both private schools I tried for. ✓ Fun seriously?I got my kid this app cause I thought it would be a good way for him to revise over the holidays, 2 days after I got him this app he was on the floor crying after an hour of being on the same task and messing up on the last question, he told me that the app did not tell him what to do at all at the start of the task meaning he didn’t no what to do, this eventually made him break down in tears out of sheer frustration..Version: 8.2

I like this app so I can get education, I don’t use family account thingy, well There is a teacher who teaches me English lessons and she needed me to go in I.X.L (IXL) so I got it by calling the worker of IXL, and creating me an account. So after that, I sometimes would go on IXL and study Maths for my self, Well I’m amazing on Maths but I still want to study Maths. I also love Science, History, so maybe you can add them. ✓ MARKS CORRECT ANSWERS AS INCORRECTMy child Is in 2nd grade an is practicing days of the week. I am with her as she does it in case she needs assistance or explaining. On a few of the questions, such as “ Which day comes after Thursday” My daughter answered Friday, and it marked her as incorrect and said the answer was Saturday. It mark her answers wrong continually, several times in a row, even though she was without a doubt correct. We did a few more other lessons and there were several times where it marked her as incorrect. I have screenshots as proof. This was very ridiculous and stressful for both of as as, the smart score drops drastically everytime, a problem is incorrect. Again, I have screenshots, please fix this bug, I can’t image that there are several other practice modules in different grades that mark students incorrect when they are in fact right. ✓ Don’t rely on this.I used IXL since 1st grade. Now, I am in middle school. Firstly, I can confirm that IXL is very pressuring on children and teens such as me. Comparing it to other educational programs and applications, IXL is definitely more stressful in terms of courses. For example, your score may go up by 3–but it’ll go down by 7 if you get one question wrong. After talking to my classmates when they recently finished one IXL course, they said they had to search up the answers rather than trying. The compliments “Neat!” Or “Correct!” On IXL doesn’t do anything, nor the prizes. I still don’t understand why school districts recommend such websites like IXL. Honestly, you don’t learn anything from using this, and you have to rely on the videos and what your teachers taught you in class. About the videos..they don’t help at all. The questions and the video questions are similar, but comparing it to the rest of the questions on the IXL course, you can see a big difference. Let’s take a decimal one for example. The video teaches you how to multiply decimals basically, but the course is much, much, much harder. To be frank, the video is just “in a nutshell.” To conclude this, don’t use or suggest IXL for your children. The more the child uses it, they’ll get more worked up or stressed..Version: 9.0.1

✓ IXL is a great app for learning but they have some stuff to addIXL is excellent for almost anyone, but personally they firstly need to fix the mobile experience. Because on mobile you must draw and then it types, which is cool and nice after all. But there should be an option to change from typing to drawing, and on mobile all the lessons are jumbled up, and with random recommendations that are not recommended for me for example, COUNT THE DONKEYS, FOR PRESCHOOLERS. So I think they should fix the recommendations , the format and some little others otherwise on pc it’s much better. I think they should add a curriculum to IXL and add a feature like in reading eggs where there is an order on the levels and very exiting for all the young kids that are in year 2 and under. And lastly they need a more thorough explanation to help people when confused and they might add a video made by IXL to help on all the questions, but I think that’s a bit to much but if it is done then that will help a lot for people using the platform. Otherwise I think IXL is a great app! Parents, guardians or teachers, don’t be to concerned about it, if you just thinking of getting it, you definitely should, it can help you a lot! ✓ Found it goodI had to check it’s right before she finished all questions (which she mostly gets it right) my daughter is close to six and doesn’t emotionally handle the going back to 90 if she gets it wrong at 99, maybe going back 2-3 questions is more suitable since kids can know but make silly mistakes and going back ten can seem too much for for a mistake. Also when you get it wrong it lets you understand how you get it wrong then you put ‘got it!’... perhaps with certain more tricky aspects like Roman numerals it should give an understanding of it before she has to start straight into the questioning... to get her head around skill first. So I give a little explanation if there is any misunderstanding. Though she understood the odd and evens with the visual display given by IXL which warmed her up to the idea evens is when things can be paired up in 2’s and odd is when there is the odd one out so it was good offering the concept of that much easier. If these things were worked out then there would be no complaints just ways of making an already great App greater like put little picture icons to display what it covers in the list of skills for the younger ones.Version: 4.8.2

✓ Ixl is great for years 1-12I would prefer the app than the website because it has things, like noises and it is generally better. I just don’t like the fact that it is only available on iPhones or iPads and the app doesn’t come on Apple computers/ Mac. Overall, Ixl gives you an excellent explanation of any incorrect questions so you should get it because the app is free. But you should keep in mind you have to pay yearly for Ixl. Though, the app works with no issues at all unlike Ixl which constantly crashes and has problems and along with maintenance requirements. But I still rate it 5 out of 5 for studies, you should definitely get it..Version: 9.0.1

✓ Adaptive LearningOk, we have used this app for 3 years now. My child hates it. But, here’s why: it makes him work. This app doesn’t really ‘teach’. As the parent/educator, that work falls to you. What the app does is provide a progressive workbook like structure to practice the skills you are learning, be it possessive nouns or 2 digit multiplication. When you get an answer incorrect, it provides the correct answer and then goes on to explain the rule or principle behind reaching the correct answer. Then, and this is why I believe it has garnered ill will - it will make the student go back and practice more questions. Adaptive learning. The more you miss, the further back on the completion bar you go. Which a paper textbook can’t do. So yeah, if the child can slog through a subject he doesn’t understand fully and simply ‘move on’ to the next topic and forget about it - sure that would probably be easier. But, with this app, you can’t fake it. If my child begins to struggle and is slipping back, I know I need to stop the app, take a break, then provide further instruction before he tackles it again. ✓ It is Supposed to Teach YouSome people are writing reviews about how bad IXL is and honestly I used to think so too, but now I understand the purpose of IXL is to teach you not to just turn a blind eye if you get a question wrong. When you get a question wrong, it puts you back so many points because that way you will get more practice and actually understand the stuff. If you get a question wrong because you don’t know the answer, IXL provides an explanation - if you read it you will understand the question. Again, the point of IXL is to teach students so if you get a question wrong, read the explanation carefully and you will understand. If you are trying to finish as fast as you can, you should still read the explanation - it will actually help you get it done faster. So IXL is a really great app and I would definitely recommend it. ✓ Amazing way to learn!Honestly this app IXL should be promoted in many ways for young pupils in secondary to learn and understand the subject whether it is Mathematics or English. This is because they allow you to work out the question on the screen with the blue sign of a pen and as well as this it allows you tap highlight and erase, this is an amazing opportunity for kids to adapt. As well as this they give you an example for you to understand the question if you are unsure. ✓ Cool but…Hi guys. I decided to give a review about IXL. It is amazing and very easy and comfortable to use. But the challenge announcement at the end of every exercise is quite annoying (you know the: 1 … 2 … 3 … are you ready?) It bothers a bit. I’m using the iPad and can’t switch this of like on the comp. This is the only minus of IXL. It would be awesome if you fix this problem. Otherwise … IXL is cool. I wish to change one thing... it would be nice if the developer of the app could put a feature where it says how long you have practised today & yesterday but still keep how long you have practised altogether as well... But sometimes when my smart score is 99 or something high like that it takes me back to something like 71 and I hate that because when you do one question from 71 it doesn’t take you forward to 99 so it’s really unfair on people and this review was straight after it just done that and that’s exactly what it done! The reason that I gave two stars is because you have to at least mark one star and just to be nice and the second star is because you get rewards for certain things and if there is a star on a white circle when you have finished a task then tap on it and reveal your prize (the prize is a box in the square that has a star on it) P.S. you get bonus prizes (bonus squares) :D but I do recommend this app to people doing the 11+ so that’s another star so ⓉⒽⓇⒺⒺ ⓈⓉⒶⓇⓈ is what I give! ✓ Extremely Good Content.While this may frustrate kids, the content in this app is unbelievably good. It encompasses selective school test content (I have taken the test so I know what questions there are), and a range of skills to boost children K-12 into being confident with their academia. I have personally used IXL to develop my reading comprehension, verbal reasoning (analogies and arguments), and spectrum of mathematical skills. Under every question you get wrong is an explanation for why you got it wrong. Whilst not thorough, as I’ll admit, it has a full on explanation on the means to get it write and the strategies. So whilst it doesn’t strongly tackle the questions YOU get wrong, it helps you get it with a passage to teach you how to. Kids may not get this but I think it’s decent…enough. I enjoy the diagnostics, which is essentially where they test your skills without being harsh and they help you broaden your horizons with things you can practice on (that you had no idea you were weak at). The range of texts in this app is also incredible, I must say, because they get passages from the olden days and you get to work with that too. I would pay for it. But it must have consistent use because it is expensive and their content would go to waste otherwise..Version: 9.1.2

✓ Honestly, just stressful and disgusting don’t download for your kids.First off the price is expensive, nobody can really afford to pay £100 a year. Next let’s talk about working, when you get an answer wrong it take you about a few levels back which absolutely annoying. I’ve been using this app for awhile and haven’t learnt anything at all, I’ve failed most of my tests. It just breaks the relationship between you and your child. Forcing, everyday. It just triggers me how we have to work every time we go back and the questions are very confusing. ✓ Its ok I guessSo, I’ve been using this for 4years now (kinda forced to do so). At first I was like ok, whatever. It’s for school right? Up till last year (6th) it was fine. This year however, nothing has been saving and my grades have been dropping dramatically. I have not been able to show any work nor hand it in. I’ve told my teacher who handles this program for my school and said that she couldn’t really do anything about it. I asked my friends about it as well and they have been through it as well. I asked them how they went around them and they just said that their teachers never really used it anyway and they didn’t have any problems. For now, I have had to use my teacher’s account to do my work during class and try to bump up my grades. I don’t fully suggest this as the best choose but if you’re too lazy to browse for educational websites, I think that it’s ok to use for beginners.Version: 4.7.1

✓ Amazing app with some flaws.IXL is amazing, no doubt about it, and this app is no different, though i want to point out some flaws with the app and overall ixl itself. Mainly with the points, as people have described, it goes up quickly at first, then at smaller values near the end. Its really frustrating when your at 99 and out of nowhere “wrong answer -9” and it gets really annoying. I do like though how there are suggestions that help you with getting a new lesson when you don't know what you should do next, so good job on that :P. Only suggestion along with fixing the points system, add a way for when people get a question wrong repeatedly, they get a pop-up or something to instruct them how to do it. ✓ EmbarrassingThis helped at my age as an adult as I have ‘Dyscalculia’ using this app is breaking taboo. Infact I knew most of the answers but without this tool my answer becoming lost and having gaps. The problem with maths dyslexia ‘you don’t know where you are and gaps open’. Though it’s designed for school students. You don’t know how important maths is on the quality of life. I recommend this app if you have Dyscalculia regardless. ✓ Confusing!I’m a student in 3rd grade and my parent is encouraging me to use this app I think it is fine but it’s confusing to navigate through the app. IXL doesn’t give any instructions at all of how to use this app. My second complaint is that the “recommendations” part is weird! I did a course to see what level I’m at and it put me to 5th doing things I don’t even understand and never learned in 3rd grade at all! Some of the past reviews say that it’s a stressful app and one of them said there kids came home in tears because it put their level down low? I really don’t think that’s how a kid should feel after a math app. If you’ve had these experiences try “Zearn” or “Kumon” because in both of those apps it doesn’t make you feel bad or mad or sad. If you’ve ever had a bad experience with this app try those apps they are better. I hope the owner reads this and tries to find a way to make a better experience in this app. I am not trying to spread hate into this app I’m just trying to make it better but so far none of the reviews have a developer response and I really hope someone reads this and does something about it. ✓ My thoughts about IXL.I find IXL very nice and helpful for learning. However, it is a little bit harsh,especially when you get a question wrong. When I was little the adds were appealing and it looked like honest app. I was right and when my dad downloaded it I started noticing immediate affects in my learning, I had already gained a lot of knowledge but IXL was just helping me excel much faster and learning became easier and they started setting me new much more difficult challenges. ✓ Very good learning appI really love this app because it teaches you things based on the curriculum of your year level. To be honest, it teaches better than my teachers do and I can understand things more easily. Parents can also see how much their child has used IXL in analytics.
