What is Watchdog for Xcode? Description of Watchdog for Xcode

If you're a developer using Xcode®, you need Watchdog.

Watchdog monitors Xcode and automatically cleans up stale cache files that prevent you from getting a good build. It will save you hours of aggravation dealing with a number of problems you might see including:

• Old images that you've replaced, still showing up in your app.
• The DerivedData folder growing continuously over time, often taking up 10+ gigabytes of space.
• Constants/Defines not updating in the app after you've changed them in the code.
• Localization file changes not being seen.
• Phantom breakpoints and/or breakpoints stopping on the wrong line.
• Xcode refusing to run a build on your device, only reporting something obscure like: "Error launching remote program: No such file or directory"

You will often clean build, quit Xcode, restart your Mac and devices and sometimes even blow away your entire repo and re-clone, just to try and fix some strange bug that doesn't make sense and won't go away - wasting precious hours.

Don’t waste any more time. Install Watchdog.

Xcode is a trademark of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries.

Useful, over keenThe default settings will make sure your Xcode refactor tool is pretty useless. I set it to once daily and haven’t had a derived data issue since installing it..Le ChilvagueraVersion: 1.6

Watchdog for Xcode Cons

Useful! Unfortunately, terrible UI and menubar icon. The app looks useful! Unfortunately, I likely won’t keep the app running at all times due to the menubar icon cluttering my bar. The menubar icon is pretty bad, especially the colored one. Thanks for adding the black/white preference, but the menubar icon should be much simpler and black and white as default. It is currently far too ugly and busy. You should also give an option to run in the background without a menubar icon. The app should also be gone through with an eye to the Apple HIG (Human Interface Guidelines): the preferences checkbox with “Yes” next to it is especially hilarious. The menubar icon doesn’t use NSStatusBarItem’s `highlightMode` property; no blue glow when clicked. Very un-Mac-like. I also cannot right-click the menubar icon. Good start! Looks useful, but needs an update!.Pk •••Version: 1.6
