✓ I love this app!!I talk to my parents using this app, and I am not a robot so I love this app because on other video calling kids apps it has very few games and not much to do, But this one is really good because I could read with my friends or parents and since I’m a animal lover it has many types of animal books. It really entertains me and I like how there’s an age rating! In most apps those are randomised but this app it actually gives an age rating so I could read books or play games meant for my age!.Version: 3.9.0
✓ What a joy!I just had my first experience with Caribu and couldn’t be happier. I got to read a couple of books, color a picture, and just chat with my granddaughter! ✓ So grateful!Caribu has made such a difference to me and my 4year old granddaughter. She lives in the US and I in Canada so it has been impossible to physically get together over the Covid period. ✓ Great idea!We live almost 3 hours from our almost 5 year old nephew so we don’t get to see him as much as we’d like and kids don’t want to stay on the phone and talk to you all the time. This has opened up a whole new world to all of us in the family. We get to see him solve puzzles and play games with us as he giggles and smiles. Our 1 year old grandson loves to babble and connect during our sessions. It’s our time together. ✓ Enjoy App, except for rating request interruptionsMy granddaughter and I have been enjoying visiting and playing with each other until the App asks us how they’re doing. If we don’t want to answer then, we lose our page and connection! If we reconnect and find the page, it’s blank. Such a downer and disrupter of the fun experience we were having. ✓ No support!I have calked the Help number about ten times and get no response. Neither my phone nor my iPad will load the books. I get a couple of pages of noon, then just white. There’s no live chat. No one has emailed me. No one returns calls. And I’m PAYING for this! ✓ Kids Love Caribu!Caribu helped build the relationship between my kids and their grandparents. My kids’ grandparents live in Virginia and would only get to “see” their grandkids once every few weeks when when set up FaceTime calls. I could tell that my kids were getting bored quickly and didn’t really want to have the same “How are you doing? How’s school?” conversation every time so we looked for a more fun way to make calls to grandma and grandpa. That is when we found Caribu. It completely changed the conversations my kids got to have with their grandparents! They started reading books together and talking about the adventures that Thomas the Train and Barbie were going on and what book they wanted to read next. My kids now want to call “Grammy and Poppy” multiple times a week. My parents love using Caribu and getting to read and play play games with their grandkids. Her father is deploying for the third time in her lifetime, and staying connected is so important. To be able to have the opportunity to read to the two year old and eventually, his baby sister is very important to me. Even traveling twice a year to see them is not enough time and having this app helps. ✓ Grammy loves Caribu!I purchased a subscription to Caribu about six months ago. My four year old grand daughter lives about 700 miles from me. We both love playing on this app together. I just got done playing with her for a solid hour. We read books (she is loving the Angelina books and the Beatrix Potter) then we always play round after round of Memory - usually followed by some coloring pages and tic tac toe. Thanks for giving us a fun way to be together. (I think it is also helpful at times to keep her occupied when mom or dad need to get something done.).Version: 3.9.0

✓ Quarantine savior!I’ve known about this app for awhile but never took the plunge because my toddler sees all of his grandparents and aunts & uncles on a regular basis. Now that we’re social distancing, without daycare, and can’t see any of our family, this has been a wonderful learning tool and opportunity to connect with his grandparents daily. ✓ I want to tell all my friends with grandkids who are far away!I signed up for the 1 week trial and we all enjoyed it so much I have signed up for a month. Our littlest grandkids live in NC and we are retired and currently full time in our RV traveling the country. They are 9, 6, and 3. Mommy home schools them. What a rich resource this app can be! The Tracing feature will help the 6 yr old with writing her alphabet. The games help the two “bigs” with critical thinking and are just fun to play. The littlest loves stories but there are Eve activities he likes to do with coloring, picture matching and alphabets. I have sent the link for this app to my friend who lives in FL. She has grandkids in FL and in CA, cousins who don’t really know each other. How fun could it be if the cousins could play games or read together? ✓ Major issues with last update!Can’t believe I am paying for something with so many bugs! And the latest update is the worst. When on a call all I see is a blank page or page with dots, books aren’t being shared on both ends, things freeze and you can’t advance. Contacted tech support and their advice was to update, delete and then reinstall, both of which do nothing to fix the issue. I shouldn’t have to contact tech support every week to simply read books. ✓ Almost Perfect. Needs direct calling feature...I really do love this app; it keeps my family and my kids in touch over many thousands of miles. My biggest complaint is that when you call somebody or they call you it doesn’t show you the call screen like other video or calling apps do, it just shows a drop-down notification which is confusing for my parents and grandparents. The video chat functionality is also not up to par with other apps. When transitioning out of a current story to go find other stories there is a lag and choppiness to the video feed, and it becomes hard to communicate for a few seconds until it clears up. ✓ Slight problem joining up with familyI’m a newbie with Caribu but I’d registered without any problems. My daughter and I had a few issues to begin with on our first call (we think it was that she was on a laptop) but we resolved them as she moved on to her phone. I’ve had good connection on my iphone and iPad- the phone’s too small to be honest as I can’t read the writing! Also we had one book that only ever had half the picture on my phone screen at any time, I’m not sure why that was but I just couldn’t get it on landscape view. ✓ Grandchildren out of the countryCaribu is the answer to my prayers! My grandchildren live out of the country due to my son’s employment. My 4 yo granddaughter loves to chat online, but this genius app lets us read awesome books and play some really great games together. She even tries to read to me some of the easier books. With the 2 way video, we can expand the camera to a full page and she can show me what she did at school and new dances she learned. She is getting quite computer savvy because of this app which was an unexpected surprise. She can navigate all over the place and I didn’t teach her. I tried another similar app, but the books were lousy and we were limited to 20 minutes per month. It was also way more expensive. With Caribu, we can read several days a week and not fixate on the time. I am getting to watch her grow up and don’t feel so far away. Caribu is worth every dollar and I would pay more. ✓ I don’t have to buy 2 books anymore!I love coloring with my grandkids but because of COVID I can’t visit and color with them in person anymore. I started buying two coloring books and sending one to my house and one to my grandchild’s house and we would color together on FaceTime. ✓ The BEST Video-Calling App For Kids!Before Caribu, the kids had no interest in talking with their grandparents for more than a good 30 secs (and that’s with me chasing after them’). Since we live pretty far from both sets of grandparents, Caribu has been a game changer in nurturing those relationships. Now they can easily spend up to an hour reading books, coloring or playing games with them when they call. It’s been fantastic to engage with her through games and stories and we’ve got a routine of me reading her a bedtime story. It’s brilliant and I’ve recommended it to others. Sometimes it’s a bit clunky, we might find ourselves on different pages of a story and erasing drawings doesn’t always sync. We are also running out of options of books to read now and would love to see more choice of non fiction for 5+. On the whole a great app and a godsend for all pining grandparents everywhere! ✓ Lifesaver for Families ApartThis app has been incredible and we have only had it for three days. We live far from family and our 7yo got bored with regular FaceTime. My mom saw this on the Today show and asked us to look it. We used the free trial and my mom and daughter played and talked for nearly 90 minutes! They have used it at least once a day (usually twice) and go until the first person’s battery almost dies. It is amazing to hear them playing and laughing while discovering new games and ways to play. If you live far from family, I highly suggest this app!.Version: 3.8.3

✓ I Love CaribuI love Caribu. My now 7 year old grandson and I have been enjoying this since the pandemic began and we couldn’t be together. He’s in northern CA and I’m in SoCal. We started with me reading to him and he turned the pages, but now he reads to me. We’re each looking at the same book on our own devices. We color the same pictures, he’s made cards for his mom and dad that I save on my device, then text them with it on their birthdays. I taught him how to play tic tac toe, and at the end of our sessions he tries his luck against Papa. When his family had Covid and he couldn’t go to school, he and I enjoyed our “Cave Time,” and read and played our games. I love this app so much that I purchased the unlimited minutes option because one hour was often just not enough. When my attorney daughter is working from home, I’m able to assist her in child care with Caribu. My daughters family are stationed in South Korea and have been social distancing and doing school on line for about 3 months now. ✓ This is the best app!I have been using this app since Covid started. My cousin has five children, including five year old twin girls and an 8 year old son. This app has saved us. We read together, color together, play tic tac toe and Dots. We do word hunts and all the other activities. Fun for them and for me. ✓ Account issueI don’t believe I had previously signed up for this service. I downloaded the app yesterday, tried to sign up and got a message that my email is in use by another account. So I tried to sign in, but every time I click “Forgot password?,” the app closes. It sounds like a great app but I can’t try it out due to this issue. UPDATE: Account issue was resolved. I used the app for the first time tonight US to Costa Rica. I must say that it was a great success. I think we read eight books! My granddaughter was begging for more but my voice was going. It has provided hours of entertainment and given us a connection which we could easily have lost. ✓ Pandemic CureWhen we were a month or so into the pandemic and I was missing my grandkids something fierce, my daughter heard about Caribu. I signed up quickly, and suddenly I was totally reconnected to them and became part of their nighttime routine. At first I was choosing the books, but soon the kids felt the power from their end and chose the books. There are TONS to choose from. We would do four every night. Caribu was so generous during the summer that they suspended paid subscriptions as we all were navigating this unchartered territory. I am more than happy to pay now and support this company. My grandkids love Caribu and I have told so many people about it. Finally, the customer service is amazing. They respond so quickly--answering questions and offering quick support. ✓ Stories with my grandchildIf you are unable to see your grandchildren then this app is fabulous. Usually with a two year old FaceTime lasts five minutes before they rush off but with this my little one sits and listens and chats for nearly an hour. I really like the fact that I can point to things and it highlights on his ‘book’ and he can point and I can see what he is pointing at. ✓ This last update was awfulNot only did we update it but we had to then delete it and download and install it again. I could manage this but my son’s great grandmother had a world of a time trying to do this on her own with me on the phone. After 15 minutes of this, we were finally able to call except it dropped the video calls for no reason! Every 4-6 minutes or 2-3 minutes it would just crash. Whatever you did to fix some bugs you created a LOT more because I didn’t even notice bugs prior to being forced to update it. This is supposed to be easy for grandparents and children. Today it was just a headache. If you actually fix this I’ll change my review but this issue is absurd. Forcing people to uninstall and reinstall for an app to work after an update? ✓ A great way to connectWhen I first tried this I was disappointed to find the trial version was too limited. I ended up paying for the monthly subscription and it is a great way to be able to engage with my grandchildren during the pandemic. I have a chronic lung condition, so in this time of COVID19, I can’t interact with him in person, so Caribu has enriched both of our lives.
