✓ One of the best music creator apps!Been making music since 1983 and I have to say, for a digital WS, this is quite impressive. I have tried a lot of similar apps, but I keep coming back to this one. The only problem I have experienced is on my iPad, when I try to connect via Bluetooth, it will not connect and only plays sound from the speakers. No other issues. Great app! Update 2023 Version doesn’t seem to be compatible with the new iOS 16 update. I literally lost years of music. The app doesn’t seem to be working since the update. Are the developers going to update Caustic? It would be worth it..Version: 3.2.0

✓ DOES still work with iOS15 and AudioShare!I hope they do update sometime (we would be happy to pay!) but it is still working fine on my older device with iOS 15, except most of the export options have broken! I was still able to use the AudioShare option however after purchasing that app and from there can save to iCloud, etc. like other modern apps. ✓ Brilliant app for all musicians.This app is brilliant, it lets you create a whole composition right from your iPhone &/or iPad & allows you to export your creations so you are able to import them straight into your DAW, could be easier to use but once you get the hang on it this app allows for hours of musical fun. ✓ Superb!!!I’ve used virtually all the iOS DAWS available and must honestly say that both in terms of workflow and indeed, ease of use, nothing beats Caustic. The automation is an absolute joy in it’s direct simplicity as is the superb sequencer which employs a method of input that is truly second to none. Simply put, Caustic is an amazing achievement from an independent company that quite easily stands up against (and in so many ways actually surpasses!) the likes of the ‘Big Guns’ of Korg Gadget and Apples’ GarageBand. I’d absolutely love to see some more updates (it’s been sadly, such a long while) such as new synths added and an increase in the polyphony (say 16 or 32) but even as it is now - Caustic is quite simply a superb piece of programming and if you’re at all interested in making music on iOS then you absolutely owe it to yourself to give it a go..Version: 3.2.0

✓ Holy crap this is the motherlodeI was a Gadget fanboy before really giving this app and it's workflow a chance. It's worth spending a bit of time to figure out to take advantage of the super clean and highly convenient UI an workflow. So damn powerful. I love the easy split between recording live and piano rolled patterns and song based data (automation and notes independent of patterns). The interface is simple and a joy to use once you put in the time. Certain things that appear missing, like undo, are there (in edit mode). One just has to get used to the mode based editor interface. Once thing "missing" is being able to record audio lyrics and stuff but that can be done in other software, and Gadget doesn't bother with this much either. The instruments are more advanced and varied than many of Gadget's offerings too. The strings simulator KSSynth and the drawbar organ, and the padsynth (additive synthesis made simple) are my favourites. I love the fact you can simply scroll through the instruments and piano rolls on the rack. Fantastic UI!.Version: 3.1.0

✓ Mr RhythmExcellent app for creating music. Holds it’s own against any DAW I’ve seen imo. The only issue I have is the fact you can’t use this app with Bluetooth earphones or speakers which is a little annoying as Bluetooth earphones and speakers dominate the market right now. Maybe an update is due to make the app compatible with Bluetooth devices? Other than that this is a quality app and I would recommend to anyone looking to make tracks on the fly..Version: 3.2.0

✓ IPhone creative outletI’ve had Caustic for a while now - due to a busy daily routine it’s actually become my primary music creation tool. I grew up on Cubase (20+ years!), so to be able to do so much on my phone still astounds me. I love the depth you can get in to with the drum machine - it’s so easy to load in external samples to play with, too. I’ve yet to delve in to the vocoder, but a friend of mine seems to be using it like an audio track. This is truly an excellent app, and such incredible value - Thank you Caustic!.Version: 3.2.0

✓ The Best OneI've used pretty much all the popular music making iOS apps and this is the best imo. it's great for dealing with samples or synths, it makes it really quick to get ideas down and finish tracks..Version: 3.1.2
✓ Lots of fun! I like it more than GadgetQuick tip: to get patterns longer than a bar- 2, 4, or 8, simply navigate to the machine of choice and scroll down. Each machine has its own piano roll beneath it, that is where you set the pattern length. Press grid, then 4x, 8x, etc. Recording live is great, rock solid quantization. SOUNDS great. There are deep sound design possibilities but the fx are so good you could get by just with presets and fx. Once you understand how things are organized, which didn't take long, it's very easy to create a lot of music very quickly. Don't bother arranging at the start, just create patterns till your heart is content and then arrange later. Not much to complain about aside from very small interface quirks that aren't that big of a deal. I suppose more instrument tracks would be nice. But with the live automation recording and 16 tracks, you won't lack for cool sounds. Also, don't miss the PCM synths ability to import audio from elsewhere. You can edit and apply fx to imported audio endlessly. Great app, my only regret is I didn't buy it sooner!.Version: 3.2.0

✓ Still really good.Just wanted to update my review and say that I think this app has been getting better and better. I'm lucky to be running this on an iPhone 6 and the extra screen size has made a big difference. Uploaded a whole load of my own samples and they're working well too. Still highly recommended. ------------ Basically it's a lot like Reason. Very nicely put together, and it has a good work flow. Sounds vary from great to a bit dodgy, but mostly very good. The coding seems tight and there were no bugs or problems on my iPhone 4S. Things got a little fiddly when used in portrait mode, but landscape allowed for room when needed. Ultimately I see this as a great tool for creating loops and riffs that I'll then import into NanoStudio. That said, I'm sure it could handle a whole production very well. My only gripe (if the Dev is reading) is small but really annoying for me: I can only hear playback through headphones. All my other music apps allow me to hear the music through the iPhone speaker too. Please can you sort that out? I'm sure it can't be that hard to do. Thanks. :-).Version: 3.1.2

✓ Amazing and efficientBest value package all in one studio like the old Reason 3.0 on desktop. Surprisingly, the little modular synth in this sounds better than the big modulars by other developers that make you pay for each component. All the machines that make up this studio sound great and consume little cpu. The only criticisms i have are - midi file import (fixed next patch) - audiobus (fixed next patch) - screen size doesnt fit right, it crops the top and bottom in landscape mode, this needs fixing. I would love to see the following and would be willing to pay extra for the options... - would like more flexible fx routing options (fx chains, channel splits, etc) - would like a better compressor or a multiband compressor, this would make glueing multiple parts together to create a layered super synth a possibility. - ability to layer samples in both the PCM and the Beatbox, with the option to roundrobin/random or layer/blend. ✓ ?I was honestly hoping in something at least good for sketching. Well to be honest drums just about do it, maybe chip tune module for 8bit sounds. However, as soon as you layer 2 tracks together all turns Into mud. If you really into this kind of stuff get yourself tabletop. It may have its own set of issues but at least you get imini (purchased separately) vocal track, fantastic glitch pad and a fair bit better sound engine. This really sounds like early fruity loops. Some may like it. If you're into creating music that's rich on the ear steer clear. Just wasted £7. I'm deleting it for now and will check it out again in years time if any updates improved things, I sincerely doubt it. This is for 10-13yo kids IMHO. Ok. It gets a little better with tweaking and credit has to be given to developers for cramming so much into this app. Suggestions: When browsing the new patch should engage immediately so one doesn't have to go back and forth inc. the load button. Audio could be implemented better. Autosave Midi Learn feature for assigning knobs on a controller board. Background audio Really like possibility to assign devices to separate midi channels. I'm all for the Buddhist approach of impermanence and letting go of things but caustic crashed on me twice today and reloaded last saved project so I presume next function request would be auto save please? Crashed again ipad 4 Just gave it another star after having played a few more times. If you play mostly in pattern mode it can cut the mustard if you can live without longer loops or ones with odd signatures. In song mode when you get a longer composition things get very fiddly. The loop bracket at the bottom is a joke, one can't touch it without making it disappear. I feel this app needs another poly synth to give it more landscape. It definitely lacks in that area. The only pad synth sounds like a very dodgy mellotron. Oh well, the frustration is even greater now with this half baked great concept. It crashed on me again today on ipad air (just upgraded) fortunately I've learned to save now. Added another star for a developer who's in touch with app users and listens out for suggestions ;).Version: 3.0.1

✓ Simply stunning.Having also Korg Gadget, then seeing the tiny install size (40meg), I wasn't expecting much tbh. So I was overwhelmed by the quality and how capable this app really is. It may look like an old Windows program, but you would be seriously missing out if you let that sway you. It has quite a learning curve compared to gadget to get the best from it, but if you put the effort in the rewards are there. Plus the developer has done some fantastic help videos on YouTube. Features, effects, tiny memory footprint, tiny cpu usage even with loads of effects, and an amazing price make this a MUST BUY. Do yourself a favour and get this one without hesitation, the dev deserves support. Even next to Gadget I have to say this is a must have, and beats it in some key areas. ✓ Best value all round music app.This does the whole schcaboodle. It loses a star for not being as refined as it could be. Which is a hard balance for iOS music apps. Also has a slower work flow than most because of having to tap 2/3 times when 1tap should be enough. And on an iPad, though that sounds like a small thing, it isn't...it's annoying. It's not the only app which falls into this trap. Other than those two moans... It's like Propellerhead's Reason for iOS. Teeny data size as well. It is brilliant..Version: 3.1.2

I just wish the windows version works better, I’ve been trying to teach my brother how to make music with caustic on windows but once a certain amount of patterns are placed on the sequencer (max like 3) the screen goes black or all the text and pattern designs go away and bug out and it then becomes unusable, if there is a fix for this please help and respond to me my friend!.Version: 3.2.0

✓ Very very useful Daw !Been using this for a while -very solid Daw Using in combination with Auria Daw to tweak and finish off the main production transferring via Audiopaste .very quick and easy workflow in use. Keeps the creative juices flowing -focusing on the main task of making music. This app is just one of the many other iOS synths I use -each one has its own character and textures combined. Would recommend to anyone using iOS for music. ✓ So so close to perfectionThis app is a gem. It has let me make amazing songs on the go. 1. Exporting stems doesn't seem to work. 2. It's impossible to line up the dots that control the volume of a track at a certain time. They will always be a bit off from each other. 3. The modular synth exports with TERRIBLE crackling that isn’t in the synth before exporting sometimes. It seems like the mixer modules can glitch like this sometimes. I can’t figure out how to prevent the glitched exports! I hope these issues get addressed!.Version: 3.2.0
✓ Outstanding but few problemsAmazing sounds and beat machine kits however I haven’t been able to open up any projects since Caustic can’t seem to rotate to landscape mode even without orientation lock enabled! Not sure if this is a problem other users have experienced or just my phone but would definitely like to be able to use to keep using this app again! ✓ Incredibly intuitive, powerful, and fun to useI have messed around with production since 2011, trying different DAWs to find one that I truly liked. I downloaded Caustic in October and have spent 1000+ hours using the app. I’m still finding out new ways to use its tools and very rarely feel like I’m held back by the limitations on the machine. There are some elements that are inconvenient when using an iphone (sound doesn’t play on Bluetooth headphones) but the portability and ability to quickly jump into production more than makes up for it. Would recommend this to anybody, whether as a supplement for desktop DAWs or as a primary workstation for amateur production..Version: 3.2.0
