Movie Explorer Pros
✓ ExcellentGreat app for organising your movies on mac and/or external storage. Scans quickly and 99% of the time gets the right metadata. For any cases where the app gets the wrong metadata you can just do a manual search and rectify it yourself. Double clicking a movie thumbnail opens the movie per your Finder file associations ie .MKV might open with VLC but .M4V would open with iTunes/Quicktime. This makes it so you can organise and play your movies all from one app regardless of the format, location or DRM status. Whether windowed or fullscreen the app has an interface in keeping with the rest of OS X unlike many other metadata/media library apps that look like clunky Windows ports. If this ever gets the functionality to handle TV shows it’ll be 5 stars all day long. Could also do with a zoom function for the size/number of thumbnails to be displayed but not a big deal at all. UPDATE: The new version is more polished and now with letting you hide the sidebar/inspector there’s no real need for a zoom function for the thumbnails. Was already an excellent app but is now that bit better!.Version: 1.2

✗ Review for earlier version 181The interface is well designed and the software is well thought out it is the best of its type except for one fatal flaw - it does not like some mp4 files and doesnt recognise them if you convert them to either avi or mkv it is fine - however it becomes a real problem if you are importing lots of files - I gave up and just designed a database. Until the mp4 issue properly addressed I can’t recommend this software.Version: 1.8.4
