Working Copy - Git client for Negative User Reviews

I have to reclone every repo every time I format the iPad or sync to a new iPadI have a large list of repositories and I tend to move cell phones quite often. Every time I install WorkingCopy I have to reclone all repositories every single time. What’s the point of iCloud Sync? There seems to be no way around this. Can you please help with this, I will be glad to change my review and update ratings. The app is amazing, except this one obviously huge limitation..Version: 5.7.6

Great software but too expensive for dark modeReally handy bit of software, however £15 to upgrade to dark mode is too expensive. £5 or £6 would be much more palatable..Version: 3.7.8

It’s crapwareIt’s one of those programs that’s free to edit your files, but has a pro feature “save files” that exploits the loss aversion fallacy. Even though I may have considered purchasing a program that charged the full price upfront, I would like the developer to know that such exploits are immoral. I’m quite sure that you’d not like to be on the receiving end. So here you go. Edit: the developer’s claim that there are no people that regretted the purchase is highly exaggerated. Look closely, ther are multiple people that requested refunds, on this very page. As for whether this is fair. An Apple dev account costs money, so it’s natural that you try to monetise your app. I don’t take issue with this not being a free application. I take issue with this advertisement, a shareware or a lite version not being clearly labelled as such. Why one star? I’m a stupid person, I saw an application, it didn’t say lite, didn’t say trial, didn’t even say it had in app purchases. I clicked on it and the app doesn’t do what I want it to do. I can’t edit a file and commit the changes. It doesn’t do what it advertises. I would give it zero stars if it were possible. It’s worse than non-functional, it wasted SSD space on my iPad, and my valuable time. I guess I should be thankful (to Apple) that you’re not allowed to install viruses. I’m sorry, but I did into so-called free applications, and I punish developers that have no regard for honesty..Version: 4.3.0

Useless without the expensive in-app purchasePoor UI and can't push a git repo without buying the $22 upgrade..Version: 2.8.6

Cloning is disabledMy impression of the free app is that it’s basically useless. I won’t waste my time figuring out whether to buy the paid app..Version: 4.8.6

Please do not interrupt me for a reviewI paid for this app, and I like it and it's great and you should buy this app, too. But I use this app to solve problems and accomplish things. Just now, I opened the app todo just that, and instead of allowing me to use it, it interrupted me before I had done anything and asked for a review. If this app were free, it would seem reasonable to exchange my attention for the software, but I paid for this app. And so, instead of solving my problem, I now was faced with solving the _developer's_ problem. And so we have here a one star review. Just having to stop and think through this caused me to totally lose my concentration and forget what I was doing. In short, given that I've paid for the app, I don't understand the thinking that it's OK to take my attention away to help marketing the app. I would encourage the developer to set a fair price so that I can use that app—I'll gladly pay that price. But I really do want to use the app, not participate in a survey or help the developer with marketing. I'm sorry, but I really just want to use the app..Version: 3.8.5

Great app, but it’s not really freeThis app has a lot to offer, really pleased and very well made, However in order to push commits you need to pay after your allotted trial. I have no problem with you wanting to have a “try before you buy” app, but it’s not immediately obvious that you need to pay in order to get the ultimate functionality of pushing your changes. It’s a good job I had the option to trial for 10 more days otherwise I would have wasted quite a bit of time with my commits. That’s the reason why it’s 2 stars..Version: 5.1.3

Good, but needs work[To the developer: I appreciate the thoughtful response, and I will certainly check out each update (if you’ll forgive a bad git joke).] This comes so close to being a great way to work on my iPad. ✅ Supports GitHub Enterprise. ✅ iCloud document provider (lets me work in Textastic; the built-in editor doesn’t cut it). ✅ Nice history graph. ✅ Excellent search (aka git grep). Unfortunately… ❌ No flat view of all changed files in one place. You have to manually navigate your entire folder hierarchy to each file. ❌ No staging & no stashes means I can’t change anything I don’t want in my next commit. I’m so used to having this freedom that I can never go back to being forced to work on only one thing at a time. It’s not feasible for me to commit three unrelated changes in the same branch because that’s not how professional developers work. Essentially, it takes too many steps to review changes, and there’s no way to manage which ones get committed. This app seems to get a lot of praise from writers (whose needs are so simplistic they could honestly just use Dropbox), but not a lot of developers (who actually know and use most of the features of git and GitHub). It just needs to handle a few key things better to become a truly viable way to work when I’m away from my Mac. Right now it’s got just barely enough to make it possible, but not what I’d call a great experience..Version: 3.3.7

Incredibly buggySuper clunky UI, needs usability fixes, many features missing. Fetching and pulling from large repositories leads to progress bars stuck with no explanation. Hiding the logs view doesn't remove it from the screen, but sticks it at the top as a an unreadable line of 5 pixels height at the top..Version: 5.3.7

Buggy and expensiveWhen copying files, they randomly go into a new directory, sometimes says files to be committed when there aren’t any, diff doesn’t show old file names (when renaming a file). Better off using a laptop and free native IDE’s/ github. too expensive for what is a very basic tool..Version: 4.7.6

Don’t buy! Won’t return my moneyDownloaded the pro to test something out. The test failed. Initiated refund and return within 4 business days. App Store says its not eligible for refund. At this point its just a money grabbing operation. I’m unclear if the dev is aware of this but this entire situation is just pathetic. I’m borderline sure they will also say that -“”oh this is buyers’ remorse “” at this point of time. Well I do have remorse that I could trust this app and the App Store..Version: 5.8.3

Good, but careful about requirementsI purchased the "unlock all devices" when I got the app on my iPad Air 2, not realising it wouldn't work on my iPhone 4 stuck on iOS7. Contacted developer about my options with no reply..Version: 1.9

Trial version proves value, but w/o push, is useless (need $$ version)It works as advertised, but to unlock the "push" feature, you need to pay (over 20$, which I find too much). And what good is this without push? I'll keep searching for cheaper app..Version: 2.8.8

Decent app, too expensiveAs a fellow app developer, I understand paying to support continued development. This is a pretty good app with a lot of features, but $16 is way too expensive. I was expecting $5, which I would have gladly paid. You’re in a low volume market and pricing yourself out of sales is a bad idea. I have been selling apps for quite some time and the typical economic paradigms are still at play - sales volume always makes up for margin. Not being able to access github issues, wiki, etc. is unfortunate. CodeHub is free and does that quite well, but I paid for it since the social aspect is so helpful. Every day I respond to issues with that app. Anyway, nice app, but I’ll go back to what I was previously using since $16 is rather off-putting..Version: 3.6.3

Good app but $22 to unlock push is a rip off!The app is pretty good if not the best git repository browsing tool. It has good features and the overall usage clean, easy and stable. The downside is that $22 bucks to unlock push is a rip off! Despite of how good the tool is, you have very limited opportunities to do real work on a mobile/tablet device, and to do minor/casual pushes, $22 bucks is a lot! I would buy it for $3 easily... But the author prefers to make more money by selling less & expensive than more & cheap..Version: 2.7
