Pocket Sergeant - Police Guide for Negative User Reviews

BrokenPaid for the app and extra for subscription but when I try open anything that requires the subscription it says I don’t have one then when I try to restore the subscription it says restored but then go around in a circle saying I don’t have a subscription. So pretty useless at the moment. I really wanted this to work and be helpful. Seems like it’s got lots of problems that need fixing.Version: 33.0

A shameful appI bought this sometime ago, willing to pay for it as at the time had good reviews. Found it useful on occasion but didn't use all the time. Now it has moved to a subscription and the app shuts down on occasion if you refuse to pay (an option you have to decline every time the app is opened), I find the idea morally offensive as there was no mention of a subscription when I bought it. There are equivalent apps at the same SINGLE price like iPlod which supply same information. A real shame for what was a good app ruined by a developer who didn't consider the business model. I have read the reason why subscriptions have been added although this is not clearly displayed on the app description but in 'in app purchases' I will not be subscribing..Version: 2.5.2

Other apps available without subsI paid for the app before these subscriptions were announced and now, having already paid the £3.99, will not receive updates when legislation changes. Total rip-off. There's another sub-free app that you will know doubt have heard the (puntastic) name of. Use that one, this one is a no-go. It's not the fault of paying customers that the business model is flawed..Version: 2.5.2

Subscription to view... loading screenThe app has all the potential to be a great app if only it actually worked. On both WiFi and mobile data as well as hard resets on my phone and closing the app it doesn’t seem to fix it. I think this may have been since an update. It’s not the most expensive of apps but 99p per month would be better spent on a refs cheese burger than something that doesn’t work..Version: 5.1

Fix the app PLEASE!!!!Having used this app for some time now & having been a subscriber, ie one of those that pays to make sure that funds are available to the developer to continue to keep it up to date why of why when I’m accessing content do I keep getting the “become a subscriber or restore your subscription” message, I’ve even hit restore a number of times, relaunched the app as requested…..updated the app even and all I get is the same bloody message & it still won’t let me access the info. Fix it or lose subscribers & users. This used to be a good reliable app, essential when up against it to build your casefile when a charge is being sought. At the moment it’s an eminently deleteable app………….Version: 34.0

It's ok but the recent update is brokenContinually refuses to connect to the server to update, which is what I'm paying a monthly subscription for. It also refers to English and Welsh law. Not particularly helpful if in other parts of the UK. It also has constant subscription problems, in that it doesn't recognise that you have already subscribed, and always asks you to do so again, listing all the updates you could get. The points to prove are simply a repetition of the definition, only in point form. There is not usually any expansion. I don't need to read the definition twice. Bookmarks are helpful. But these sometimes disappear if the update works. The new update Sept 2019 is completely broken. Nothing appears in the searches for categories etc. The internal scrollable sections make it impossible to scroll quickly through an offence. You have to wait for the text to "bounce" and settle before repositioning your finger and starting over again, several times in a row. It's infuriating. The previous version was vastly superior..Version: 3.0

SubscriptionBought this app for £4:99 a few years back, but now I have to pay £12 a year if I wish to continue to have an up to date app. If the monthly subscription was an option when I bought I wouldn't have. Surely the ones that paid for the app should get free life time updates or least 6 months free updates. I've now got a useless app. *I stand corrected the app was £3:99* ***Update***. I totally understand that apps cost money to produce, money needs to come from somewhere so those apps can continue to be developed to a level of excellence and continuation of updates. I just feel that if the app was purchased prior to the subscription implementation updates should be free. £3:99 was a choice to be paid, now it's a choice to either waste £3:99 or subscribe..Version: 2.5.2

Since the last update it’s been awful so have cancelled the subscriptionThis used to be a great app when it was free it never seemed to fail since I’ve paid subscriptions it worked fine for a while now it seems to have got worse. I’ve updated it, reset the phone and running the latest software and no matter how much I tweak the search field doesn’t return any responses. I have had some contact with the app developer to try and resolve but it hasn’t worked. Shame as it was a good app and worked well in my job where I need to review various acts and sections I have cancelled my subscription as Ive been paying 99p for that last 6 months and it shows no signs of getting better it’s not much 99p but it soon adds up. I hope they will sort this as something somewhere has glitched and gone seriously wrong. 😞.Version: 4.0

Shame...A real shame. A very useful and user friendly app has been spoiled. Constant requests for subscription, which I will not do having bought a 'paid for' app. Since these requests started, the app crashed whenever you type a single letter into the search bar. Extremely frustrating and renders the app all but useless. **update** As per above review really... Still had no updates due to not paying and the bugs are of course are still there.. I have looked at the developers responses to other criticisms of the subscription costs, but sadly, although I sympathise, I don’t believe it makes it right. When you choose to create an app with what clearly has a relatively limited target market, you have to consider that at some point ‘new’ users paying enough to fund development will dry up. Having paid for the app when there was no mention of a monthly fee, it really is a case of moving the goal posts. If new terms were created including monthly fees and new folk bought it, then use that as the source of income, but changing the cost after taking the initial payment under a different set of terms is unfair. If the developer joined the job under the old pension scheme, I do hope that he/she is happily accepting that he/she is now on the new pension scheme and will NOT be claiming for what they previously paid in to and will accept what they are given because ‘needs must’....Version: 3.0

New update has broken the appThis app used to be excellent until a few weeks ago. If not for self improvement but for the times the mind went blank. However, since the app has been updated, there seems to be nothing on there? Can’t search for anything, barely any content and overall, seems to be a bit broken. Shame really considering I pay for it..Version: 3.0

Subscriptions far to priceyUsed this app before the subscriptions were announced and now won't be able to get the updates - the subscription is far too pricey when you've already paid for the app. Look around for another app (iPlod maybe) to avoid hefty subscription charges. .................................................................... Thanks for the reply. I can appreciate the app needs money to make it better, but £12 per year, per user, is extortionate in my opinion. PNLD / Force net offers everything we need with regards to file building, arrest warrants etc - I don't need an app for that. The app was used, by me, purely as a quick reminder of legislation when out and about - no one can remember everything. I won't be subscribing for that price, I think a re-think of the subscription price is required..Version: 2.5.2

Helpful. But costlyWhilst I appreciate the cost of maintaining this app, etc as the reason for a monthly subscription, having originally paid £4.99 I (like many others it seems) begrudge having to now pay 99p/pm to keep it up-to-date. The app is still handy without the subscription, but I’ll be looking for a alternative in the future..Version: 2.5.2

Won’t even openOpen app and it opens to a loading page to load data. It will load up to 50% then won’t load anymore unless I turn the phone off/on then it fully loads and a pop up comes up saying it failed to load properly and to reset. Which takes me back to the initial loading page where it refuses to load past 50%. Have heard only good reviews about this app, but very disappointed to have paid £4 for something that doesn’t work in any way..Version: 7.0
