Washington Post Select for Positive User Reviews

Excellent read and very useful appAs someone watching aghast from the UK at what is happening politically in the USA at the moment, this publication gives a riveting and informative account of events as they happen. Would highly recommend it..Version: 1.11.8

Improved iOS stability recentlyUntil recently this app would crash when switching between articles via swipe gestures. That seems to have been fixed on iOS. As an app for reading news this one works fine now. As a news organization The Washington Post does fine work and is certainly among the best, though I would like to see: Some long form deep dives, possibly through collaboration with public broadcasting. Leveraging the digital medium, an example might be an article that is an updating timeline on a developing topic. More links to primary sources such as original interview transcripts when available..Version: 1.30.5

I highly recomment Wash Post via their appEasy and straightforward to use and I recommend it, in my case a Benefit as partner with the UK national Daily Telegraph to which I pay an annual subscription. Articles shown are varied but as at 3rd August 2017 shows The Trump Sage in great detail from several Viewpoints. It also refers to different subjects in other media. Thank you, very pleased with your partner benefit..Version: 1.12.4

NaffThe carousel format is gimmicky, naff and horrible.Version: 1.18.0

Reg Bloom from UKI enjoy reading the WP online everyday, But as a london based English man ,I have views on the US tolerance of Trump that I had better Keep to myself.Version: 1.31.2

BrilliantSuperb news app. Amongst the best journalism in the world. Interface is best of any news app I've seen..Version: 1.21.0

A great newspaperOne of the best newspapers in the world with a distinguished history of investigative reporting..Version: 1.15.6

Elegant app for comprehensive quality news too bad it crashes so oftenClear, well written news with simple-but-elegant indexing of stories. Love it and it is my 'go to' app for the right stories written by journalists with enquiring minds. Unfortunately, I find the app crashes repeatedly and have been hoping an update would come along to fix this.Version: 1.13.1

Good paper, good app.User friendly & informative American news..Version: 1.12.4

Worked for a WhileGreat reporting. Great app..........until a week or two ago. No longer can exit the app and return to where I was reading & pick up where I left off. Neither of the English not a first language customer service reps I talked to could do anything other than pass the message up the line and give me the same response I got when trying earlier in the day to solve the problem via email, which was that somebody would get back to me within 48 hours. Way too much going on politically to wait for this to be resolved (if in fact it will be resolved). Will go back to reading the Post on their site rather than with this app..Version: 1.24.1

Extremely well-designed, stable app, unusually consistent in terms of excellence of content.21st century news app..Version: 1.24.1

Dale StumpeOne of the great Newspapers and news outlets of the world...I’ll bet DONALD doesn’t like you...Hugs.Version: 1.31.1

Problem with updateAfter a few seconds the update version crashes - on my 4th gen iPad. Previous version was stable and I liked the format - not at all like the other papers I read. Let's hope the app gets sorted soon..Version: 1.8.0

Washington Post ReviewGood to see a media organisation gathering its own facts rather than reposting.Version: 1.18.3

Why I So Highly Value the Washington PostAs a lifelong (60+ years) reader of the NY Times, I have now been an electronic subscriber to the Post for the past four years, and your reportage has been frankly superior. Your newspaper's superb reporting and wide range of trenchant opinion pieces are what have gotten me through the multiple disasters of the Trump era. Your reporters have allowed the country to see just how great a threat we have been facing. And you have done it with what I believe to be both absolute professionalism and appropriate levels of objectivity. The small amount I pay for my online subscription provides exceptional value. I wish you continued success..Version: 1.31.1

Crashes every dayI love the app except that it crashes constantly at or near the same place in the app. Each day I start at the first story and flick through them all and read the ones I’m interested in. Once I get to Life & Entertainment it will crash in that area. It’s kind of got me conditioned that I’m playing with a jack-in-the-box. I know it’s going to crash and I’m anticipating it but I don’t know quite when it will happen..Version: 1.29.0

WPFabulous reader app. Little different from other newspapers I have subscribed to, but I really like the style. The content of the paper is as high as ever which is the most important thing..Version: 1.9.0

A brilliant newspaperThe Washington Post is a fine newspaper and one the USA needs desperately in these trying times. End of story. (P.S. The idea any news which doesn't sit comfortably with the reader is automatically Fake News is the worst school of thought I have come across in the 21st century.).Version: 1.12.4

Logie49I live in UK the Post is a must read great journalism worth the subscription.Version: 1.15.5

Frames the swampRead Post articles elsewhere as a fascinated observer and drawn to subscribe due to the speed and quality of insight. Apps work great across platforms and have a slick crisp and well thought out layout that reflects the quality of the writing. In a time of such barely believable chaos in American politics the Post is ensuring one of the most important checks and balances at (y)our disposal remains steadfast. Great value. Indispensable..Version: 1.11.8

An overseas readerHi, great app but sadly your firewall restrictions all very onerous ‘democracy dies in darkness’.Version: 1.21.1

Great app - great paperI happily pay for both the Washington Post and NYT apps/subscriptions. Outstanding value for money in the large scheme of life, both with unique perspectives. I particularly like the Washington Posts app/interface..Version: 1.27.1

"Real News"I am very thankful that there are organs that still exist that report what's really going on. In particular I enjoy the opinion pieces. It is important, in my opinion that, the Post continue to report without fear or favour, particularly in times like this..Version: 1.11.7

Easy navigation, quality journalismNavigation is far easier than our other digital news subscriptions. As a result, it’s the first one I click on in the morning. I use the others as a news counter-balance. Quality journalism makes for intelligent reading. Thanks!.Version: 1.22.3

This is a wonderful newspaper!!!Have read newspapers all over the world for many years, and the Washington Post is up there with the best of them!.Version: 1.17.0

BrilliantWonderful writing combined with clever layout. What more to ask for an iPhone..Version: 1.11.8

Great journalismBeing in NZ we get a lot of the Trump tweets paraded as news. So important to have good background and researched articles to make senses of the craziness in the US..Version: 1.15.7

Informative and entertainingWell written, liberal and unusually outward looking..Version: 1.15.7

It’s just the bestFantastic app. Very good organization, smart interface. Responsive. And of course really good news..Version: 1.31.1

MrExcellent!.Version: 1.11.5

Did not appreciateI saw the app and the 'Get' link and noticed 'in app purchases.' Okay, not a problem. Installing required full sign-in to the App Store and upon opening saw 'one month trial.' I would not qualify that approach as 'in app purchases.' The New York Times app does not have these shenanigans. Looks like a nice app but I will be uninstalling it and watching for charges next month..Version: 1.9.0

Love this appBeautifully designed app that makes reading online a pleasure. And as always, the journalism is top notch..Version: 1.11.7

Sets the standardThis app sets the standard for news apps: excellent split screen design, good news categories, good currency of breaking news..Version: 1.12.4

Style & SubstanceMobile layout is exquisite. Substance is profound. If democracy dies in darkness, you are a lighthouse. Do not let the ship of state founder on the shoals of corruption..Version: 1.26.0

Less dramatic but still overly dramaticThe Washington post is not as bad as cable news or USA Today, but it still takes itself a little too seriously. “Democracy dies in darkness”?really? I can tolerate a steady stream of high-drama stories: anti gun articles and “look at how bad society has become” articles; but I would appreciate it if wapo would spend some more time putting high drama news in perspective with either a historical/cultural baseline or statistics. If so, we would find (for example) that the most severe impact of poor gun policy is not mass shootings but gun-empowered-intimidation. We would find that our government spends billions on minor (but very dramatic) problems, while ignores other major ones. This would be responsible journalism. I would also appreciate more articles on how to endure the trumpian age rather than be reminded about every possible reason to feel bad about it. I would pay more for this service..Version: 1.15.7

Easy to useSimply easier to scroll through and read the news than the NYT..Version: 1.31.0

HookedI have been fixated on your Washington coverage since the election. It is down to very few journalists, frighteningly few, to attempt to chronicle and assist the US public to ward off the fascistic tendencies of Trump and the current GOP. Keep it up!.Version: 1.15.9

Very good indeedBest newspaper app yet..Version: 1.11.5

Washington postThe Washington post is ethical and it informs , this newspaper sets at a high standard for its readers and its writers, you could read today's Washington post in 50years time and get a clear picture of how it felt to live in this time.Version: 1.17.0

Normal Service in a time of breakdown!Brilliant unbiased journalism that commits to reality in a world where the president of the USA is in a fantasy world of his own. How refreshing to have a reference to what is ‘normal’..Version: 1.24.0

IOS 12 crashesUsed to be my favourite app... in last week has started crashing about 1/2 way through any longer article. Amazing how quickly that gets old! Certainly devalues my subscription 😉.Version: 1.22.1

Great news, shame about the vertigo inducing appI love Washington Post but the app's method of zooming article photos out as you scroll down triggers my vertigo. I've heard of dizzying news, but that's not what I'm after..Version: 1.11.7

My go to source for honest reportingI have learned to trust your correspondents for balance and in depth presentation of news and human-interest stories..Version: 1.21.1

Excellent JournalismI have enjoyed reading the Washington Post. The standard of journalism and integrity of the organisation are very high. Many Australians are frightened that a Trump led GOP will lead the US, and by extension its long standing military ally Australia, into into a Nuclear WW3. As political satirist S Bee has stated: The Golden Showers scandal is almost certainly not true; what is truly scandalous is that it is completely believable. We are understandably anxious to keep up with US news, from a reputable source. Regrettably, I am no longer in the workforce and not in a position to subscribe. Therefore, I will need to revert to the UK Daily Mail, which relies on its large readership, combined with advertisements imbedded within its material, as well as an advertising banner at the bottom of the page, to pay for its material. I will certainly look out for WP contributions on Twitter..Version: 1.11.4

Wonderful content and nice appWonderful content and mostly US centric but the app works without a glitch. The news feed shows up first and settings are hidden away. Just like how it should be..Version: 1.12.1

Washington PostYou have to be doing something right if The Donald hates you fervently. However, most of us believe it’s “fair and balanced “. And you do write about other subjects and have many points of view. I grew up in a “read the paper family” which is no longer in business. The local paper and it’s sister paper shut down for a week and was purchased by a Maine man who saves papers as a hobby. I like a print version so I take the Saturday/Sunday one as I need it to build highly combustible fires in the fireplace as well. In addition the freebie always “sells out” at the two sr. centers I sometimes attend classes at. Keep up the good and desperately needed “vehicle” needed to preserve our democracy..Version: 1.15.7

Washington Post- A shining testimonial to democracyWashington Post is one of the few remaining beacons of Democracy as Our nation slips deeper into the grip Of autocracy. I cannot imagine what our nation would be like without this newspapers’ brilliant and enlightened reporting. If democracy in the United States does in fact survive the Trump presidency, our heroes will be those brilliant writers and courageous commentators at the post. 🌬 The Washington Post is to Our nation in its hour of peril what the Royal Air Force was to Great Britain during World War 2. If our nation, does in fact survive this assault on our democracy we will owe a great debt of gratitude to the Washington Post..Version: 1.15.7

Hometown Paper Still GreatI have been reading WaPo since 1950 when I could first read so imagine my delight to be sble to read it everyday from far away..Version: 1.22.0

Good AppI like the clear presentation of this app. It is easy to flick through the stories and find the stuff that interests you quickly. It is also easy to get to the whole article in large easy to read font. I think the information is balanced and accurate..Version: 1.8.0

Bad app - great newspaperThe app needs a lot of improvements. I have to close the app and open it again to get to the latest news. The subscription should work seamlessly with Apple’s News app. But it doesn’t. I have to log in every time and News won’t link to the app. The way the articles display on my iPad is difficult to read. There should be a font size setting, not just two options where one is too small and the other too big. The Washington Post is a great newspaper. Please find better programmers and improve the app..Version: 1.17.0

Enjoying the Washington Post. The Washington Post keeps me informed through each day with updates on my Apple Watch so I know what is changing in the news. I find individual articles informative and helpful to keep on top of National and World News. The Pod Casts are great additional informations were I find extra helpful thoughts and ideas on specific topics I had not known about. I like gaining the understanding, information, opinions about our ever changing world in its wide variety. I feel I get accurate and truthful news which is important in the era of so much fake news..Version: 1.21.1

FaultlessThe functionality of this app is what newspapers worldwide should aim at. Simple to use and beautifully presented. Informative and well written content that you could easily spend hours per day reading. A little weak on world news but that's an observation on US media in general and not in any way a criticism of the app..Version: 1.11.2

Great appReally like this app, mainly because it features stories of interest to me - even though I'm Australian with other interests at the other side of the world..Version: 1.11.2

BrilliantI am a new subscriber from Australia and I am loving the content and layout of the WP app.Version: 1.30.4

Top USA news siteAlways one of the go to sites for clear and well written up to date news and reporting Hard to beat!.Version: 1.11.8

Crash when open since the last update is worsePlease fix app.Version: 1.15.7

Good news reportingThe Washington Post stories are accurate and contain no fake news. keep up the good work..Version: 1.17.0

Great content, occasional freezing problems, comics weirdnessLove the content and the format is wonderful and easy to read. Based on that, this would be a five star app. However, articles will occasionally freeze and refuse to scroll down. The problem gets worse over time, and eventually the app will freeze trying to switch between articles. Fortunately, it is solvable by deleting the app and re-downloading, which I have to do about once a week. Minor gripe, but the comics which appear in the app vary from day to day - some days there are a lot, and some days only a few. It's particularly irritating with serial comics like Mark Trail, since it's hard to follow a storyline..Version: 1.13.0

App is as great as the publicationExceptional journalism - exceptional format. Enough said!.Version: 1.15.6

Amazing Journalism and GraphicsThe Washington Post is my absolute favourite news source. Their reporting is amazingly in-depth and does not have a partisan bias - which is so important especially in this hyper partisan era. This app is stunningly beautiful, showing off the Post's journalistic pieces with fantastic graphics. You can adjust the font size which is great, because I can never read text that is too small! Favourite app. Plan to buy subscription when my free trial runs out..Version: 1.11.4

A great source for news!Love my subscription..Version: 1.16.5

Great.Keep up the fine work👍.Version: 1.5.1

Latest App Update Keeps CrashingI have an Apple iPhone, and the Wash Post select app used to work flawlessly with no problems but beginning about 2 uodates ago it began crashing after being open for about a minute. The app crashes so soon after opening that I am unable to complete a msg in the contact option of settings asking for help and advice about this problem. When the app has been open for less than a minute and I’m reading a story, my iPhone screen suddenly goes dark for about 1-2 seconds and then displays the iPhone home screen. This app used to never have any problems, and then beginning about 2 updates ago it starts crashing. I thought the latest update would fix but it did not. PLEASE FIX!.Version: 1.22.1

ExcellentAlthough I live in Australia I enjoy reading the honest and professional article's about what's happening in the US..Version: 1.11.8

Faithful ReaderHopefully Jeff Bezos realizes the value of the superior quality of the journalists at the WP and will endeavor to retain them. I enjoy reading the WP daily on my IPhone. Further, I requested to receive emails on specialized, researched topics such as climate change and cyber security and find them enlightghtening. Unfortunately, I am unable to read any WP articles on my iPad as a paywall pops up. Thank you, Jane Pietrantonio.Version: 1.22.0

Excellent journalism, crashy appI am giving this app five stars due to the exceptional quality of the journalism. But the app itself has been very buggy and frequently crashes on iPad, it's been like that for ages and something they should have fixed by now. I struggle throughout gah the crashes because the journalism is worth it..Version: 1.18.2

Post from LondonI read the WP daily and very much enjoy the fact it gives me a 3D look into so many events and options. In a world of fake news and insularity the WP is a breath of fresh air..Version: 1.31.1

A great addition to my mobile news sourcesUntil recently, I relied entirely on Flipboard and Apple's News app. I have decided to be a grown-up and pay for online subscriptions to both the Washington Post and the New York Times. It is remarkable how much more complete my coverage and depth of news has become as a result. Yes, I still use Flipboard and News, but these two new apps take things to a markedly higher level. Update: for whatever reason, the Washington Post is my go-to. I barely even look at the New York Times app. I much prefer the layout of the Washington Post. Still, of course, both newspapers are top of their game..Version: 1.15.7

Easy to use. Nice layout.Ditched my Facebook membership but was missing the real "news" so this is brilliant..Version: 1.11.8

RELIABLE and RELEVANT investigative journalism and thoughtful commentary.RELIABLE and RELEVANT investigative journalism is precious. We are concerned about the food we consume and where it comes from. Likewise, sources of information and discussion have never been more important. We need what the Washington Post provides, The presentation is good. Importantly, the fonts can often be enlarged and improved. Videos are interesting and helpful for people with decoding difficulties. Most important is the quality of what is presented and it’s relevance. Today, we we face threats to the fundamental values of our democracy and our environment. If we do not take the trouble to be well-informed caring, thoughtful, and active citizens, we will be in part responsible for the ensuing suffering and destruction. We may even get what we deserve,.Version: 1.16.5

Best news interfaceThis is definitely the best news app I've yet come across, and it looks amazing on both iPhone and iPad. A small suggestion for iPad: adding note taking, or at least highlighting (with search), would make this great app even better!.Version: 1.18.2

Works for meTrying to keep an eye on the US news is much easier now..Version: 1.11.8

I love the WP!I love the WP especially at this critical time when the USA is about to change President and administration - and get back a sense of normalcy. The WP’s reporting will enlighten its readers with what is important without fear..Version: 1.31.1

Washington PostI live in Leeds, a northern city, in Great Britain and subscribe to the WP to get an informed view of what's happening in the US and how it impacts upon the world. I began subscribing during the 2016 elections as I realised something catastrophic was unfolding. I admire the stance the paper takes on issues and I appreciate the top quality journalism in play. I think it's important to support newsprint and wish the paper much success. Thank you WP! David Tebb.Version: 1.17.0

A great read everydayJournalism at its absolute best.Version: 1.16.1

Clear unbiased readMy go to newspaper on a daily basis,I’m from the uk however the world news section is excellent I really get a feel I know what’s going on in the world as well as the United States.Version: 1.19.1

Too clever by halfI just subscribed directly after a year’s co-subscription with my local paper expired, so I downloaded the app for the first time. It has this weird feature where the article’s photo illustration morphs as I scroll upward. Annoying. Especially in the opinion section where I can’t see the columnist’s name until I open the article. Is it really news to the WP that people follow certain writers and would prefer not to guess who is writing what? Everything worked just fine before I had to download the app. All these additional “features” are annoying and unnecessary. I’m looking for news, not exasperating eye candy..Version: 1.17.0

The Washington Post AppOutstanding in quality and in-depth coverage. The best functionality of any of the News apps in seen for moving back and forth between articles and sections..Version: 1.21.1

Great app and great newsIn a time of attacks on the fundamentals of democracy, the WaPo app delivers high quality independent news to reads all around the world including to us down under in Australia.Version: 1.11.5

President of Electric bike company.I enjoy reading the Washington Post to catch up on the national news on my phone or tablet daily and find that it is user friendly and it’s content is both professionally written and very interesting. There is a great choice of content that the public will find thoughtful and have a sophisticated style to it also. I forward articles to friends and family often because of the interest that it provides to me and my family. I appreciate the digital style so very much and feel that the design is very well thought out and form and function is great..Version: 1.15.7

The Washington Post “Seeks the truth”It is clear that we need the Post more that ever. We have a president that lies so much that it’s a full time job for the Washington Post to keep up with it. Thank you for all you do. It’s time for a reset. Here is a quote from an Ethical Business Man! Yes there is such a person in fact many business people who play by the rules and care about humanity. It should be our purpose to grow inspired, concerned, loving people. An inspired, concerned, loving society will dignify man; will find ways to develop his talent; will put the fruits of his labor and intellect to effective use; will achieve brotherhood; eliminate bigotry and intolerance, will care for the indigent, the delinquent, the sick, the aged, seek the truth and communicate it; respect differences among men. James Rouse.Version: 1.15.7

Easy to navigate the app.I like the content in the Washington Post also but that s review is about the ease of navigating. You just start at the beginning and swap right until you reach the end. You can also read the titles in the menu and jump to an article you like. To make it better they could leave the article you were reading to the front if you have to exit the app for some reason. Also, they could take the daily email and make it an article so that I could jump to the article in the app instead of going to the web page. The web page has too many annoying advertisements..Version: 1.15.6

Why I should have a free online subscriptionI read the entire Washington Post Daily at our local library, and I share tons of Washington Post post on-line. I quite frequently use the WP as a reference in my many political arguments because the Post is reliable and accurate and trustworthy. It is aggravating for me to try and refer back to An article that I have read earlier and not be able to pull it up online. I am a retired schoolteacher, and have limited funds, so maybe we could work something out. What do you think? A Washington Post Fan..Version: 1.26.0

Close but not quiteIt goes without saying that the individual articles from the Post are superb, and quite readable on the App itself (with the right mix of photos and text). However, I do have a few suggestions that I would like to offer re: the app itself. First and foremost is a "MARK AS READ" function, which currently doesn't (seem to) exist. This means that everytime I open the app, I must scroll through all the articles as opposed to just seeing the unread ones. Second is the "full page" previews. This is a nice feature - but only at certain times. Sometimes all I would like to see is a short blurb on each article (or even just the title) - similar to how it works on the WP Classic App. I hope they choose to add these features..Version: 1.11.5

More Important than EverI started buying the Washington Post during the election as I was an avid follower of American politics and I’ve needed informed and reliable reports of the chaos that has followed the result. Democracy is indeed under attack and we all need to waken up and take action to ensure freedom of the press. If my subscription supports this, it’s money well spent..Version: 1.15.7

Interesting and Varied ContentI enjoy reading the Post because the content is different than the Times and seems to be less one sided. The Post has many stories that delve into the lives of everyday people such as the Jessica's thst are turning 30 and the opioid crisis. The Post content has lots of sports stories that I read though I don't care much about that, I do read them to keep up. Food articles are cool, I like the stories about chefs and they often have obituaries of people I am interested in. I first started reading the Post when Trump ran for president in 2016 and I've felt compelled to stay in touch with true news ever since then. I know Democracy Dies in Darkness so I support the Washington Post..Version: 1.24.1

Insightful content but slow to loadI find myself having to open the app in the morning from home, so that all the stories load completely so I can read on my underground commute. When I don’t, I often turn to the NYTimes app instead because it loads faster..Version: 1.15.6

Precision Report by leading Professional JournalistsHaving watch the reporting of the Washington Post for over 40 years, I can honestly state that is only getting better over time. The quality of the journalism, coupled with the available technology makes the Washington Post the news source that must read In depth reporting, precise interpretation of the facts and honest opinions is why the Washington Post is the paper of choice..Version: 1.21.1

The Best NewsWhat a pleasure to read the Washington Post online every day. Living in Australia it is sometimes difficult to follow politics in the US. The Post’s outstanding journalism and analysis provides information that is accurate, informative and entertaining. Your coverage of international events is excellent..Version: 1.15.6

The PostWonderful newspaper, one of my highest heroes in this dark time of trumpspeak when so many Americans have been infected with what I call the the trump-virus. Thank you, Post People, for fighting the good fight of TRUTH. I am awed by your courage and your persistence. A la Kipling, you have kept your heads when those about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you. You have been a light to many who value the first amendment far more than the second amendment, and I thank you from the depths of my soul for protecting our beloved country from all those who do not understand the Constitution. Though you have been assaulted for speaking truth to powers that want to assail our liberties, there are many MANY who value you and love the spirit of your paper. Lady Liberty is in your debt, and so am I..Version: 1.16.3

Great Newspaper, but something else...The Post is a terrific paper, but here’s the real reason we subscribe to the Post and not the alternatives. With the Post our subscription applies to both our devices. My iPad AND my wife’s. My iPhone AND my wife’s. To get that from the others I’d have to buy two subscriptions. It’s great journalism that is also a good value..Version: 1.23.1

Great paper - crappy appThe layout of the app is the trending flyover picture driven form. Not helpful for those of us who are more concerned about substance over glitz..Version: 1.30.5

Stay informed!!I love this app! I read it everyday and am able to stay informed about what is happening in my country and the world. I am incredibly thankful that the great tradition of investigative journalism continues despite repeated attempts to silence it. As a democracy, we need to know what is happening with our government, at the local, state, and federal levels, and I count on the Post to deliver unbiased, factual information that aids in my own decisions when I need to take action (vote, activism, contact my representatives, etc.). The app also contains other great articles pertaining to entertainment, book reviews, technology, editorials, food...you name it, they cover it. Five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.Version: 1.13.0

Well presented-excellent journalismMy place to go for news. The App is well thought and easy to navigate..Version: 1.11.8

Need to have stories on women leaders, sports, and authorsToo much about the failure of the President and the Presidents twitter declarations. That is not where the real stories are happening. The recent agreement and meeting between North and South Korea was secondary to Trumps tweet claiming credit. Stop giving him the lead! We have a whole nation of strong women leaders coming into their own. Highlight their work. Sports news too dominated by men. During the NCAA basketball tournament it was difficult to find the women's teams reports. The stories were there but buried on the webpage. Easier for me to find via google search than via WP..Version: 1.15.7

Great appSuperb news reading app. The way you browse articles feels as if you are flipping through a magazine..Version: 1.11.7

Editorial edge, committed to the factsI’m in Washington for the next few days. Today, I was in an office conference room looking out at the north portico of the White House. My repeating thought was: “What an epic tragedy.” The lies that emanate hourly from the center of Article 2 of the Constitution are farce and pernicious. I commend the Post’s commitment to the facts and its dogged pursuit of same. Does its editorial page tilt left? Of course it does! Just as the Wall Street Journal’s tilts right. Both, along with the New York Times, report detailed, rigorously sources stories, and provide the reading public perspectives on what to make of the events that underlie those stories. We need more, not less of all of the WAPO, NYT, and WSJ have to offer on every page and section..Version: 1.15.9

Easy to readGreat app easy to navigate and read well worth the money.Version: 1.31.1

Looking up from down underI’d always looked up to the US because, well, they could achieve anything. The common man could aspire to the highest office and Trump, bless, showed it could be done. But with high office, there must be checks and balances, accountability. As an Australian, the best I could do was subscribe to a journal that would hold the executive office to account when the easy way out would be to lie low, to turn away. When others faulted, they would hold the line without fear or favour. That’s what I expected of the Post and they have restored my faith in all that is great about America. Keep up the great work. Tony Anderson.Version: 1.15.6

Paper of major importanceThis is a paper of both national and international significance, fulfilling its promise to report without fear or favour. Not only that, an excellent interface make reading the articles a pleasure. The stories are insightful, thorough and relevant. Exceptional value for money for international readers. Bravo!.Version: 1.24.0

Washington Post. One of the premier newspapers in the world, this is a wonderful paper. It is so important, especially at this time in America’s history, that The Post continues it’s tradition of crucial investigative journalism..Version: 1.15.6

Review of the WPI have had the digital edition for 2 weeks now. Have found the immediacy of reporting outstanding. The layout the quality of photography superb. I subscribe to 3 digital newspaper platforms one in U.K.two in New Zealand. The WP is superior to all John Lundon..Version: 1.11.2

Washington PostIt’s the best US newspaper without doubt, I live in England and I’ve tried a few US papers before settling for this one, mainly because of its political views on the the current White House resident. Keep it up please. Mike Johnson.Version: 1.15.6

From the other side of the worldFrom deepest Tasmania, the WAPO app keeps excellent up-to-date on events in the world’s most powerful (and oddly strange) nation..Version: 1.24.0

Washington PostWise reporting & an elegant app. Love it..Version: 1.15.7

RatingIt’s a good app and well thought out design.Version: 1.15.7

Great app.Perhaps more digging is called for. When was the last WP scoop on Mr. Prez?.Version: 1.22.2

Best news app when it worksHas been prone to crashing lately..Version: 1.21.1

If you don’t know, now ya know! Thanks to the dedicated professionals of the Washington Post, I have been able to keep up with all the various challenges the House of Representatives faces in the impeachment hearings of the 45th President & all that his administration has wrought upon this nation. Living in the nation’s capital does not mean automatically knowing what is happening on the national political front. The Washington Post deserves accolades for providing the latest up to the minute developments in worldwide, national & local news. Were it not for the investigative efforts of this news organization, the truth of what happened on this presidential administration’s watch might never have been revealed. Kudos to you..Version: 1.26.0

Very very goodProbably the best newspaper app I have used. Very well written and balanced.Version: 1.11.5

Balanced (more or less)As a regular British reader I find it refreshing to read a US paper that will print opinions and articles that do not necessarily agree with the their editorial worldview. Having said that there is no mistaking which side of the (widening) political divide in the US the newspaper leans toward. Always very enlightening..Version: 1.15.6

Journalism at its finestThe Washington Post is a fabulous newspaper. The reporters and columnists continue to inspire. In the Trump era where the White House and President feed the public countless lies, it’s comforting to know the Post is making them accountable. I also like the fluidity of the iOS WAPO app..Version: 1.15.7

SuperbGreat interface. Excellent journalism in a time when there's so much junk news..Version: 1.11.8

WP is gold standard againSomething fantastic is happening with the current generation of WP reporters. The app is as terrific as the reporting and the occasional tangents you'll discover in their Wildcard section is always worth a read. So pleased with this subscription!.Version: 1.11.8

Can’t argue with excellence.I might not always agree with all that arrives with the WAPO. But it’s a fact that your “ordinary” levels of erudite, professional and refreshing candor are, well, refreshing. And I thoroughly enjoy skewering the PRC (chinese) trolls sliming their way through the comments section. And yes, my husbtron tells me I should get out more.... (husbtron, btw, is Gay for husband. A lotta hets say strange things when I call Mike my husband. So it’s husbtron in our household. But I digress.....) So hey WAPO! You, your organization, and all the people and their organizations like yours are, without exaggeration, what’s keeping the orange slime in your White House from propagating. History will look back at these years as the Golden years of your profession. With utmost respect, Jack & husbtron Mike..Version: 1.20.0

Steadily going downhill... sad to watch.Used to enjoy reading, but lately the news is written more like it’s a reality television show than real reporting. Go figure. I guess it’s a sign of the times. I used to learn new things by reading a newspaper. Reporters would uncover truths and present them in a mostly impartial way. The way I see it, chasing a fickle digital audience requires drama, clickbait, herding your readers into choosing sides and keeping them upset. The Washington Post is probably doing what it has to do. Suddenly, a few days ago, my subscription was renewed at a higher rate through PayPal. Of course I was surprised. If I could cancel I would. The renewal and price increase were not surprising, since PayPal authorizes anyone you pay to charge you in the future without your confirming consent. Must have clicked “I agree” when I signed up Back to the Washington Post. I’m still a subscriber because they tricked me into paying. But I went from reading it every day, to glancing at it every few days..Version: 1.21.1

Have to have itLet's face it - responding to the on-line world has been a real challenge for print media. Which is why I love how the Washington Post has not only embraced it, it's moved it to the next level. Rather than being just another print medium that you can scroll through, it's transformed itself into a digital experience of what it does best - world class news reporting and analysis - and presented as if it had invented web media..Version: 1.12.4

InformativeAlways informative, interesting and well written..Version: 1.19.1

Vital. It seems to me that US newspapers have had two real options in dealing with the moments since January last year: bemoan and accommodate, and cover like a newspaper. For many years I have read NYT to see what the ruling class feels it appropriate to mention and, with a few signal exceptions, they have fulfilled that mandate admirably. But I can't stomach it any more. They appear to be stuck in normalizing mode. WaPo, by contrast, seems revived and crucial, and I have switched my reading habits accordingly, seeking NYT's counsel only as a contrast set. I'm glad to have you, WaPo (and admire Alexandra Petri in particular). If as a paper you'd done nothing else, your simple declarative use of the word "lie" would have been worth the price of admission..Version: 1.15.7

Beautifully put togetherApp works easily and clearly. Great navigation and it is difficult to accidentally hit the wrong link..Version: 1.10.1

Professional & researchedThoroughly enjoying in depth articles. Great read every day with thoughtfully written news and articles. Good balance of right and left views..Version: 1.10.1

New AppreciationI’ve really come to like this app and appreciate it for what it is. [N.B. This is a complete rewrite of a scathing review fro several years ago. WaPo has now “fixed” its strange suite of apps.] Although I now have the full daily paper app, too, I frequently find myself back here to get a quick skim of the day’s top stories. Sometimes I use the reporting here as a jumping off point for more in-depth coverage in the full paper, but mostly I appreciate a 6 paragraph article covering the substance of an article, plus quick access to Opinions - and cooking, gardening, movies and whatever else interests you. Thanks, WaPo, for reworking that debacle and creating these 2 separate apps, each with its own clearly discernible purpose. One or the other perfectly suits my needs and purpose at at any given time..Version: 1.29.0

Is there anything more? This newspaper’s app is AMAZING I love it, honestly the world and local (U.S) coverage is first rate it’s honest and unbiased everybody gets there comeuppance from WAPO. The best Journo’s live here as we say in Australia.... Goodonya!.Version: 1.31.1

Sara HoffmanThanks so much to The Post and Other media for keeping this administration in check. We’d be in a sorry state without you. I would suggest an information campaign to educate the public on how newspapers function. I’ve worked in and taught journalism for 30 plus years and am teaching a class in the spring titled “The Assault on the Media.” As I’ve prepared for the class, I’ve realized how so much about print journalism — down to the rules on punctuation (lack of exclamation marks) and attribution (use of said, not shouted or screamed) — are aimed at being objective. If people were better informed on print media techniques, they might trust newspapers more. Best of luck and keep up the good work..Version: 1.19.0

Institute Director’s ExperienceIt has been an amazing experience!.Version: 1.31.1

InsightReading the WP provides me with the latest most reliable information about things that are important to me. I love the resolve of the people who are determined to present the facts at a time when there are such challenges and so many important individuals who lie to save their own skin, to protect their potions and to maintain their wealth. I love that the WP takes them to task and reveals their lies and secret..Version: 1.16.4

I Count on the WPEvery day we are bombarded with double-speak from a president whose only concern is his ego and personal profit. He lies multiple times on a daily basis. He attacks loyal brave Americans and praises dictators. And the Republican Party has decided that they are fine with that. With 45 they deny truthful findings by US. Intelligence and spread Russian disinformation. The main reason we still have a democracy, as fragile as it may be, is the free press, and the Washington Post is one of the best sources of news and analysis in the world. I truly thank you for separating truth from lies and uncovering information that holds the powerful accountable..Version: 1.27.0

Great app great paperReally enjoy the Wapow! Love the WaPow Very good journalism. Not only do I enjoy reading the paper, I subscribe because it essential for Democracy..Version: 1.21.1

App not updated often enough with new newsOften the website will be more up to date. Why? Please fix..Version: 1.20.0

Top storiesMore often of late topics under Top Stories are not worthy of the category. Now social interest items appear and I wonder how and why they are there, when they don’t qualify as “top of the list” urgent, serious and important news. I have spoken of this to others and they have noticed the same thing. Must the WP go the same downward direction as network news? Does Kanye West merit a Top Story? To me, Top Story means urgent and important national and worldwide news, something to be read if there is not time to read the entire paper. Please, please, please do not let the venerable and reliable WP become just another light weight, social, gabby news rag..Version: 1.21.1

ExcellentTop rated news paper, for good reason! They have produced a presentation and content app equal of that notoriety❤️.Version: 1.25.0

Easy to use, great newspaperThis app is so easy to use and I greatly enjoy and trust this newspaper’s content - and I am no ‘left winger’..Version: 1.24.1

ExcellentHigh quality informative journalism. Well presented. Recommended strongly..Version: 1.13.1

Review.Always insightful..Version: 1.24.1

Transition to digital as good as it could getThe Washington Post has by far, done the best job at moving from a paper product to digital. I don’t think my subscription journey is not unusual. I started with the teaser articles on Facebook and quickly reached my maximum. From there I troubled myself with an internet search to get access to articles beyond that. But what kept me coming back time after time was the thorough and excellence in coverage in the stories of the day. They were not only well written but sourced and filled with the kind of detail and accuracy you expect from consummate journalists. Eventually I just had to become a subscriber. Of course since I don’t have the room or time to recycle, I chose the digital only subscription. As with newspapers from the days of paper, the subscriptions aren’t the biggest financial driver for news organizations. That falls to advertisers and WaPo has done an excellent job of attracting and maintaining vibrant readership which led to the triple A kind of advertisers needed to support their excellent standard of journalism..Version: 1.15.6

Too much politicsWAPO employs some of the top journalists and writers in the newspaper business; however, the content provided is almost exclusively US and US politics. While this may be fine for the Domestic section, get some meat on the bone with the International coverage, and reduce the exposure given to pundits, politicos and media mavens..Version: 1.19.2

Good content but poor presentationThe content in the app is unfailingly good. The way it is presented, on the other hand, is not very good - it takes a long time to scroll through the a articles and some sort of tables of contents (beyond the simple section headings now available) is needed. See the Guardian app for a good example..Version: 1.11.8

Overall great at frequent news updates, but...I go to this app for its frequently updated home page with new stories (and admittedly because The Washington Post is somewhat reflective of my own political ideology). However one thing that can drive me crazy is its poor copy editing. Many times there are repeated paragraphs (or sets of sentences) that were likely moved from one spot to another in the article, but then just not deleted from their original position. Words are regularly misspelled due to a typographical error (e.g., yesterday a story on Iran’s strike on a U.S. drone referred to it as a “done”). It reflects poorly on the paper, and they need to put more effort here. I would also prefer some more in-depth stories online..Version: 1.22.3

Crash prone. It closes at random; goes all black; reboots and/or freezes w/o rhyme or reason. It seems to become less stable with each successive update. Content is great. Delivery needs to be as good as the content..Version: 1.21.1

Great articles, terrific and galant journalismI enjoy reading the WP, as I live in Australia and it provides a different and independent perspective of the news and what is happening around the world, thanks very much..Version: 1.11.7

Just perfect appI'm IT man aged 75 years - since the days of punched cards - i like the application ; if i can comment it is too much information but that is ok i don't need to read it all.Version: 1.11.5

The best! It’s the best !!!!.Version: 1.21.1

GreatLove the WP app. I check the news every day ..Version: 1.19.1

Not a Bad App Except for the Fake Sponsored NewsAs a paying customer who has a subscription with The Washington Post, I feel I have griping rights. WP is one of the finest newspapers in the US and has an excellent iPhone app. It’s well laid out, easy to use and rarely malfunctions. My principal gripe is that it features very cleverly inserted sponsored content by large organizations who are likely paying for the rights to submit such content. This impinges upon WP’s journalistic objectivity. In a world where fake news emanates from the highest political offices to the lowest hovels of decency, journalistic objectivity is everything. Otherwise, we can just get news from Facebook or Twitter. The dim-witted who don't care about accuracy, truth, accountability can continue to be manipulated. WP, If you want to have ads, have ads and call them such. Don’t let the large, wealthy, and powerful write the news that suits them while paying you for the privilege of using your good name..Version: 1.15.7

Exceptional political/social coverage: weak on economics/financeThe high quality of the investigative analysis and absorbing writing makes me wish WP would bring those same topical and incisive insights to the major economic and finance trends of our time. I sense WP could reach the parts other newspapers and news services don't reach..Version: 1.11.8

Shock Horror! Quality Journalism Still Exists!Ethical, unbiased, factual and unwavering in their commitment to live by these values. Best paper in the world, stunning app and there is nothing in Australia that comes close to the quality of the Washington Post. Thank you. Sincerely and gratefully, Ash.Version: 1.11.4

Important paper!I have been a subscriber to WaPo for a couple of years after decades of subscribing to NYTimes (and others). It is an excellent paper with a long, proud tradition of investigative reporting. My only criticism is that the coverage of Israel/Palestine, Syria, etc. (the Middle East in general) is biased and misleading. The reporting is uniformly Pro Zionist. There is a Pro Western take on all conflicts and the reporting on our foreign involvements generally parrots the Pentagon and CIAs version of our many invasions and/or support of our "allies' " invasions, the unimaginable brutality of the KSA/USA led campaign in Yemen being but one example. Reporting on domestic issues is excellent, the investigation of candidate Roy Moore in Alabama being a prime example of such deeply researched and hard hitting journalism for which the WaPo has justifiably been respected and celebrated, especially ever since the Watergate era. I hope that WaPo might hire a reporter who has the humanity of a Nicholas Kristoff or Chris Hedges, for example, to cover Israel/Palestine..Version: 1.15.9

Great liberal paper, but....This is a weird year for US politics, as we all know. The problem with the Post is that it representative of good sense rather than the populism that's driving Trumpism, etc..Version: 1.9.0

Quality journalismOne of the few quality news sources left on the planet!.Version: 1.11.7

Really good to use and readAs a U.K. reader a great way to keep informed about US politics. Keep it up..Version: 1.13.1

My favourite USA newspaperI am a Brit living in England and in California. The Washington Post is my favourite online USA newspaper because the journalism and the presentation is excellent. Please keep up the good work..Version: 1.13.1

Great news content, app could be improvedVery happy to be supporting the Washington Post's journalism in this difficult time for our country. Strongly encourage the WP to focus on hard news and investigative journalism, avoiding cheap shots. Think of your readers as the "persuadable middle" even if in practice they are not. You are doing well so far but the temptations to get easy clicks are obvious. The app is pretty good. I wish it were easier to find all the day's content, not just some featured subset. It does always seem possible to find the rest of the news with searches. I agree with other comments that it's annoying how easy it is to accidentally swipe off an article, and then lose one's place when swiping back. The ability to see reader comments would be nice..Version: 1.13.0

Washington PostLove having the paper in my hand and reading Favorites - Health Section on Tues, second glance Sunday , food section an food ads, I am a comic fan, special features of Kelly, Courtney, Singletary, Style everyday, especially on Sunday with movie, concert and reviews, Local on Thursday especially home sales and features on home repairs, and painting, furniture design and placement, Business, especially on Sunday, and Outlook I check the obituaries daily I just love reading the post. When I am out and about I check it out on my “I phone”. I like being notified immediately about news as soon as it happens. I like being able to read my comics without toting my paper along for doctor appointments etc..Version: 1.22.3

The search function is a joke! It’s ridiculously difficult to be properly logged in the Washington Post on all the plethora of news apps on the iPhone. As a result I read part of a story in one app, then switch to the Washington Post app - where I’m logged in, and try to find the story. The problem is the search function doesn’t work! It shows me 2-3 months old stories which have nothing to do with what I’m searching for. The app itself shows only a limited number of stories, far fewer than the ones I find online through the news apps on my phone (Google News, the Apple News, Flipboard etc.) Come on Washington Post, please do something about it!.Version: 1.15.5

The Washington Post is my grounding newspaper. The Washington Post keeps me grounded to the truth, to the real news & real stories. I crave their editorials and opinion pieces. And don’t even get me started on the front page. I lived in Washington, DC for 21 years and spent so many Sundays sitting at Starbucks or on my roof with the best entertainment bargain going, the Post...for hours and hours, until I had read every page of the front section, scanned the Metro, Style, Real Estate, Sports & Arts sections, and then dive into the opinions, reading every column. Since I moved out of the DC area, I miss the smell of the newspaper, I miss sorting out the sections, folding and refolding the paper repeatedly, but I don’t miss getting ink stains on my hands. Now, I read the Post online and it is a beautiful thing. Thanks for your awesome journalism!! Democracy Dies in Darkness!.Version: 1.25.0

AwesomeBest newspaper app out there..Version: 1.8.1

SensibleSensible, down to earth reporting. Always look forward to reading the top stories and opinion pieces in the Washington Post.Version: 1.30.5

Truth in JournalismWe live is a world where a powerful spokeswoman attempts to validate alternative facts, where a sitting president is conditioned by tabloid media, despot’s are welcomed whilst old partners are demonised. WP journalists are on the frontline fighting for our democracy. Please support free press..Version: 1.22.3

Intelligent & interesting news sourceThankful for the Washington Post for their due diligence in reporting. The app itself is my favourite news app. Easy to use..Version: 1.15.7

My everyday, morning readI appreciate the app. That said there are a number of frustrating aspects. On a regular basis a series of special articles are featured. Unfortunately, they WP keeps them on the site for too many days. And another. I receive on my app emerging updates. If I press on the link I can read the article. If I only note the headline and go to read it later, it is not on the app. Oh and I enjoy the comics..Version: 1.24.1

Rather neat and excellent interfaceIt's actually really rather good, feels modern and even futuristic- graphics and video really pop menu is simple and straightforward. Excellent. However it doesn’t provide access to comments which is a big negative..Version: 1.24.0

Trump and beyond........This App has been a great companion during the Presidential Election, helping to make sense of the American electoral system, and also presenting the United States in an informative and engaging way. Sits alongside my Daily Telegraph and Guardian Apps to keep me informed and up to date..Version: 1.11.2

Excellent appQuick, easy and intuitive to use. Use it most days..Version: 1.13.0

New newsGood, up to date, balanced news reporting. Easy to read on an iPhone. What more could you ask for😊.Version: 1.25.0

Brilliantly designedThe Washington Post app is in a league of its own in terms of editorial clarity and digital design. Bravo..Version: 1.15.6

First class news appWorks wonderfully on iPhone 6+. Love everything about this news app from the layout (especially the layout) the interesting news coverage and the speed it keeps up to date, the freshness of the editorial approach and the almost perfect length of the articles. And it's free (so far). This is almost so perfectly reader friendly so please don't change it!.Version: 1.5.1

Thank youAs we watch the destruction by the Trump administration of the institutions that have made the US the champion of democracy and human rights around the world, my hope is that more people will understand that the Washington Post plays a key role in protecting us from the forces that want to control us through Pravda/Fox like coverage..Version: 1.25.0

ExcellentWP is one of the few papers I read. I’m Canadian and this is where I get my US news..Version: 1.21.1

GradiArticles well written, easy to read current and recent news..Version: 1.12.5

Excellent AppClear and easy to navigate..Version: 1.18.0

An excellent appAn excellent app. Loads and updates quickly. Clean, user-friendly layout is easy to navigate. I like how all the articles in the main window are newspaper-style columns that you can quickly scroll through. Good integration of photos of video. Good layout. There is a horizontal ribbon across the top for main sections and a vertical column on the left containing headlines..Version: 1.15.4

My favourite news app. This is the easiest to use among all my news reading apps. He only thing I would improve would be enabling me to push a single button to download all current stories before going out of coverage. This is important for underground commuting, but I imagine also for people who depend on wifi rather than mobile data. The paper is also great, and the international subscription is very reasonable indeed. The subscription price makes the decision between the NYT and the Post a no-brainer..Version: 1.15.7

Best newspaperI read the Washington Post every day from Canada. The web site makes it so easy to read on a computer, phone or tablet. I believe the journalism is outstanding and consistent with the BBC, and Globe and Mail in Canada.Version: 1.15.7

App Headlines Phrased like ClickBait; can’t stop videos that start with an adReporting is excellent but I am not keen on the trend toward headlines of the "sponsored content" variety attempting to get you to click on the link. Almost like tabloids at the checkout counter. Seems a little cheap but that's just me. Also, as of Oct 2017, clicking on a video embedded in and part of a news story forces you to watch an ad video with no way to stop the video except by closing the app. Usually, if one is presented with an ad before the news content video starts, one can close the video and get back to the text of the article. Not now. Very annoying..Version: 1.13.1
