✓ Clearly this app is an afterthoughtI’m not sure I can list all the ways you can tell MSG network doesn’t care about the app user experience. But I’ll try. Only app I use regularly that crashes multiple times per use. When transitioning to commercials the app often glitches or crashes. And no point trying to restart it until commercial time is over cause it will just crash again. But this is an improvement over last hockey season when it was the same two commercials every break. And when you start (or restart) the streaming it automatically loads those same commercials before you can rejoin the live action! Amazing experience. (Sarcasm) Can you name another streaming app that is not available on any smartTV nor any OTT platform like Roku, Firestick, PS3, etc. Nor can you subscribe to it independently. You need to have a cable or satellite subscription to use it! Least favorite user experience of any media app. Holding out hope someone at MSG decides to invest in the app as an actual customer facing product soon. It feels like a side project w the current user experience..Version: 3.8
✓ Garbage appAir playing games on an iPhone to a smart tv using a Verizon provider login. The video freezes every time a commercial finishes. You have to exit the video and re-enter the stream to get it to continue to play. Worst part is you have to do this 3 times minimum and sometimes 5 or 6 times in a row to get the stream back on. It is the most frustrating thing ever. It does this on 3 different phones and 3 different TV’s in the household. It also does not matter what team you are trying to watch. Fix this MSG!! This has been happening for years. You make millions of dollars. Bring your customers a decent viewing experience. I am not the only one based on other reviews. ✓ Spotty at best.OK..Let's get the "good" part out the way first. When watching on my phone, on the go or even at home it works decently. However, don't try to use your phone for ANYTHING else. I am not a cord cutter. Unfortunately I still pay a monthly bill to Cablevision. MSG Network looks terrible when broadcasting live on their regular channels. Watching Knicks or Rangers games isn't pleasant on their native resolution. That goes for most channels when watching on regular cable. I prefer to use my Roku TV and download all the channels, log in to my cable provider and stream my content. Using AirPlay will be ideal IF it was reliable. When I'm connected, the stream looks waaaaay better than when I'm watching it on regular cable. However, like other reviews have stated, it crashes OFTEN. I may get 10-12 minutes of action before it freezes. AirPlay is spotty at best. Please MSG, make MSG GO an app we can download on Roku..Version: 3.5.1
✓ HorrendousMSG is home to some of the biggest teams in the biggest market in the world and they can’t figure out how to airplay to a tv from its app. I have no choice but to stream since MSG got dropped by Xfinity and it’s impossible to get a devils game onto my tv without having ads that freeze every time I load it up, and I have to close out the stream and go back in multiple times until it decides it’s ready to show me the game. ✓ Laggy, slow, doesn’t refreshI have to force quit the app and reopen several times before I get it working, every single time I use the app. Most of time I can’t get it to airplay, and worse, every time I turn it sideways to view in full screen it crashes. ✓ Requires you to login every timeMay seem like a small thing but every single time I open the app I have to login again, on every device. The app doesn’t support Apple passwords so you have to manually get your information. It’s another example of corporate greed and a lack of care about fan experience. You should avoid the app and stop being a fan to a team that doesn’t care about you, but it’s likely you’ll read this review and sign up anyway because you’re an addict..Version: 4.5.1
✓ Unwatchable frame rate on Chromecast and AirplayThe frame rate when streaming Devils games is unwatchable on both Chromecast and Airplay. It works fine streaming in the iPhone app itself. Interestingly, the web app also has the bad frame rate casting the tab but no issues casting the whole screen. I do not recommend this app if you plan to use Chromecast or Airplay to get the stream on your TV..Version: 4.5.1
✓ Who designed and developed this garbage app?Honestly, it’s hard to believe that this app supports MSG venue and teams that are one of the most watched games among the sports fans. The issues are known. The annoying restarts and freezes and crashes even in the newest IOS devices. When replaying games if the screen goes off even for a sec the app shuts down and not only you have to try several tunes to start but it doesn’t save ir bookmark the spot where you shut it off. Need to use the annoying and difficult to use scrub bar to find the place where you think the game was left off. Every TV and media outlet now has a streaming app. No improvements have been made to resolve this issue ir mage the app more user friendly and stable. Clearly, the lack of competition, provides no incentive to join the 21 century. Shameful..Version: 3.8.3
✓ Should be able to give it 0 starsBy far the worst app I’ve ever attempted to use in all my years using iPhones. The app is absolute garbage takes forever to load constantly makes you sign in and the fact there is no tv app is just mind boggling. ✓ What is with the blackoutsIt’s 2023 and we still black out games? I live in upstate NY , Rangers fan, 4 hours from NYC , 3 hours from Buffalo… they allow me to watch Buffalo games but not Rangers games??? Gee thanks MSG I’ve only been a Rangers fan since I was 5 years old so a dedicated fan for 36 years and the appreciation a fan gets is blackout the game. Seems counter productive to gain interest in the game and retain life long fans. If I could give zero starts I would. ✓ Still rough around the edgesThe app is usable, but needs a few relatively straightforward refinements: 1 - Video quality. The steam seems to top out at 1080p @ 30fps. A game last week looked like it was 720p. Anything less than 60fps will look like garbage and is uncalled for in 2023. 2 - If the app isn’t available on smart TV platforms, at the very least it needs to work more seamlessly with casting options. AirPlay to Apple TV requires you to keep the phone with the app in the foreground. So no multitasking allowed. Also you need the phone to stay unlocked; if it goes to sleep the stream will cut out on the TV. Chromecast seems to work better, but more work is needed. 3 - Spoiler-free mode. Nuff said. 4 - Would love to start a live game from the beginning, not live. Again, spoilers. 5 - No pre/post games on the replay? What gives?.Version: 4.3.0
✓ Can’t pause, can’t rewind???Classic case of if it ain’t broke… Well, they broke it. Game stream will just crash & give me the spinning wheel till I close and reopen the app. And new in MSG +: you can’t pause or rewind the game. UPDATE: I need to add my provider over and over, 9 times out of 10 when I open the app. “TV Provider is now connected to your account.” Yeah, till next time I use it, which could be 24 hours later. ✓ MSG+ now inaccessibleWith the transition to MSG+ requiring a subscription through them, which is $10/game $30/month or $310/year, I am no longer able to watch my favorite teams. I used to be able to watch through logging in with my TV provider, which we pay for the package that includes MSG Network, so it seems ridiculous to have to pay extra for their streaming services in addition.Version: 4.3.0
✓ ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!!Idk what they did during the Rangers off season but MSG plus is God awful! I logged in too many times, deleted and reactivated my account almost 100 times since the pre-season and it’s no longer linked to anything including my tv provider and it keeps coming up with the same error message! God help you if you don’t log in for more than a day! You will be logged out and if you somehow managed to link your tv provider, forget about that! So basically you can’t use this app for free, it’s either $10/ game, $30/ month, OR the financially intrusive $310/ year. No app, nor subscription is remotely worth that much! ✓ Worst Streaming AppThis is the worst streaming app I’ve ever experienced. It’s actually embarrassing how bad it is. There’s times I can’t even see numbers on jerseys or it’s so glitchy that I get dizzy trying to watch. It takes multiple attempts to cast to my smart tv. The difference between game volume and commercial volume is ridiculous, I have to spend the entire game with the remote in my hand so when a commercial comes on I don’t blow out everyone’s ears in my house. ✓ Without a doubt the worst app I use regularly.I could go on and on about the horrible UI and UX, ridiculous Airplay issues, lack of functionality, terrible treatment of advertisers and customers on this platform… but at the end of the day the only thing you really need to know is that THE iPAD APPLICATION STILL DOESN’T HAVE LANDSCAPE SUPPORT. You can watch the video in landscape, but to get to any video content you need to rotate your iPad. ✓ BadI have never in my life written an app review. Never. But this app is so terrible, designed so badly, that I have to say something. I use this app on my phone, iPad, and Chromebook and it’s terrible on all of them. Whether it’s the design, video quality, or just app speed, it’s all terrible. It’s hard to believe an app that comes from such a well known name can be so bad in the year 2023. Change everything. When I try to log in, nothing appears. It just takes me back to the home page. The video quality is the worst I’ve ever seen. Just put out a product that works. Not even asking for anything special. I hate to be so negative but it’s really bad. ✓ Can never connect to TV ProviderI have never been able to get this app to work with my TV login (I have Spectrum) - every time I try to use the service I get a “You have exceeded the amount of login attempts, come back in 30 minutes” before the first time I’ve attempted to log in. It’s bad enough this app is only available on mobile/web app and not on my smart TV or any Fire stick/Chromecast/etc (which should be the bare minimum for a streaming platform in 2023) but their mobile and web apps don’t work most of the time. Terrible platform which replaced a fine functioning MSGGO (which had the same platform unavailability but I never had issues streaming Rangers games on supported devices like I do here)..Version: 4.5.2

✓ Roku app now for the love of GodIf I stream this on my tv, it stutters and performs terribly and I can’t let my phone turn off or go into another app. It needs to be open to the app at all times. I have to stream from my wife’s iPad in order to use my phone while watching. It’s horribly inconvenient. I thought moving to a new app would mean they would put it on Roku, but no. ✓ I have so many issues with this app…1- There is no MSG+ app for Roku TVs so the key way to watch is to stream it from my phone to the tv 2- The connection is always choppy when I stream it 3- Often there will be issues where I can’t login to my tv provider - an error message will show you and it will last for eh whole day then tomorrow will suddenly work again 4- Sometimes I’ll be watching and all the sudden an error message will pop up and say can’t play the video.Version: 4.6.1
✓ Terrible appHow does an entity with the funds of MSG develop such a terrible app? Horrible playback, if you want to do ANYTHING while watching a game (pause it, fast forward, mute sound, etc) tapping the screen does absolutely nothing 85% of the time, brings up the controls after an unbearably long delay 10% of the time, works fine the other 5%. ✓ Live in the right corner needs an option to turn off for oled tv’sI have an oled tv and think it’s terrible the live in the right corner can’t be turned off on the Apple TV app. Furthermore the stream does suffer from buffering issues that I don’t have on any mother streaming apps and didn’t experience while streaming from the msg app from my phone to Apple TV last year. ✓ Very poorOnly saving grace is it’s the only way to watch the rangers on the go. They don’t have a fire stick, Roku, etc. app. The commercials are the same for seven months, it’s mind numbing. The buffering is atrocious and often cuts out (not a user network or Wi-Fi error). Maybe if the company spent more time worrying about their customers rather than who to ban from the Garden, their product would be more enjoyable for the masses. ✓ Could use some improvementsI love that MSG app is finally available for Apple TV so I don’t have to mirror it through my phone like what I’ve been doing the past few seasons. It does crash here & there but nothing a simple reset takes care of. But what I do hate is that the volume during commercials goes up significantly to where I have to constantly turn the volume down during commercials then back up when the program is back on. ✓ Horrible AppIt feels like this app is in 1992. Consistent buffering. Consistently lagging. Buffers in very important parts of a game. Need to have an app that works off of the television directly instead of having to cast from phone. Another reason why we are in 2023 and this app is not. ✓ Please make a ROKU app!!!Dropping from 3 stars to 2 stars for my utter disgust and frustration in trying to actually get through a full game airplaying to a Roku tv. FAIL. I love my Knicks and Rangers. The app works decently well on my ipad or iPhone, but I really want to put it on my Roku tv. I often have the Knicks on one tv through the “cable” box and I have a 2nd tv I use to stream something else. The mirroring to Roku is shaky at best. I can stream multiple football games or Yankees games on YES… but without a dedicated MSG Go app on Roku the streaming performance is spotty at best. I also have an extra tv in my family room that cannot have a box and is streaming only. Everything works great… except MSG GO which doesn’t have an actual ROKU app and freezes and locks up constantly on airplay. PLEASE make a Roku app!.Version: 3.5.1

✓ Can’t log inI had previously linked my spectrum account but somehow it disconnected. Now I get an error stating that I’ve exceeded my amount of log in attempts and I cannot connect with my spectrum account. I only have this issue logging into spectrum with this app and looking at reviews, it seems others do too. ✓ Painful user experienceI’ve been dealing with this app for several years now and it just seems to get worse. If you are trying to watch a game with perfect service/wifi, you can expect the app to lag out no less than once every 5 mins just to cut to pre-roll commercials EVERY SINGLE TIME you relaunch the app. Do you still have to watch annoying repetitive programming commercials on top of the preroll? ✓ AirPlay ConnectionPeriodic issues with Apple AirPlay connection. Game will stream while on the app but once attempting to connect with AirPlay, it initially connects then freezes and does not continue with connection. ✓ No stand alone stream = LAMEThe amount of cord-cutting revenue MSG networks is losing by not offering a stand alone subscription has to be huge. I’m sitting here at the opening week of Rangers hockey (massive fan) fuming that I can’t watch a game without cable or an rsn provider. My friends in much smaller/weaker markets can watch their teams on stand alone pay streaming services (Bally Sports, etc.) but not Rangers fans, because this network is hopelessly mired in old ways. I’d happily pay $10-20 per month for something I actually want to watch, but good luck without me and everyone else who refuses to pay astronomical monthly costs (my Verizon bill right before I ended my service was up to $260/month!!!) just to watch their favorite hockey team..Version: 3.7.1
✓ Not Ready for Game TimeUnfortunately cannot stream on Roku. Can you believe it! To cut out all Roku users! So I tried it on iOS. Shockingly bad. How could they release this junk?! It crashes often. (On multiple iOS devices which are new, updated and otherwise work fine) Worst part: There is no video timeline indicator at bottom of video. Like on every app or video streaming device! That is a standard part of ANY video app. There is NO REWIND function other than a press-once back button that outs you back some small amount of time. But if you want to go further back, the button turns to a FORWARD button and brings you right back. And NO way to go back to any specific point in time. (ex: I tried to rewind to the staff of period of a Ranger game. Nope! Can only go back one unit of time. Then back forward the same amount) same functionally in a PC via browser. This app and the overall service is JUNK compared to what we have all become used to for video. Maybe 15 years ago this would be “cool”. ✓ Where is native Apple TV app?!When you live on Long Island you have to watch the rangers on MSG. I subscribe to optimum cable but choose to use Apple TV instead of a cable box. This works for 99% of the things I watch. When it comes to MSG my only choice is to airplay games from my phone to my TV. Unfortunately the app constantly lags and drops the stream. ✓ Absurdly Dumb AppThe app earns two stars for decent image and audio quality. But this app is seriously dumb. Why can I not rewind games to where I want to see them? I can either go to the beginning or watch the live feed. If the video is smaller and overlaid there are 10 second forward and back buttons but they don’t work. But what is really stupid is that, if I am watching the game from the beginning in a shrunk screen and then then open full screen, it starts over again so I either have to watch everything I just watched or skip ahead to the live feed. I can’t login using my cable information which forces me to spend money to watch a single game. This experiment with a new app has failed n lost me as a customer. ✓ The WORST sports streaming app. PERIOD.Makes you sign in again and again. Says location services are disabled WHEN THEY ARE NOT. IVE TURNED ON LOCATION SERVICES OVER AND OVER, IVE DELETED THE APP AND REINSTALLED. STILL TELLS ME LOCATION SERVICES DISABLED, this app just only works when it wants to and most of the time it doesn’t want to work. FRUSTRATING! ✓ VPN Issue, Please UpdateThe app doesn’t allow one to have a VPN downloaded on their phone and stream any games. It’s so frustrating because my VPN isn’t even turned on, it’s switched off, but if I try to watch a game, I still get an error message saying that my phone is “jailbroken.” It is not. Please fix this so paying customers can watch games, even when VPN is on/off. No one should have to completely delete their VPN off their phone which they use for data security and protection. The app didn’t used to be this way before the recent update this year. Again, please fix!.Version: 4.4.1
