Trailforks for Positive User Reviews

They are no longer free. Horrible product now !You only get one small square for free, otherwise you have to pay for a pro membership. Deleting the app and moving on!.Version: 1.44

GoodVery handy app, wish it had map locations instead of just trail names though..Version: 1.38

Excellent app for finding routesOut of all the trail maps on my phone… this is my GO TO app for finding mountain bike trails, and also hiking trails. Would 100% recommend for finding trails in your area.Version: 1.60.1

Needs Apple Watch capability urgently...This app is quality fork what it’s intended for but just needs to be Apple Watch compatible and updated regularly..Version: 1.30

FantasticAwesome for when traveling.Version: 1.8

Good for mountain bikingI have found the app great for sanctioned mountain bike trails but not useful for hiking as most hiking trails don’t show up. And local trail associations can remove informal trails from the app so even if you know of a local trail, you may not be able to use the app to navigate on it..Version: 1.61.0

Was goodI liked this app till they made you pay subscription fees. I have since deleted..Version: 1.59.1

Ya dancer, it works again!Kept crashing after the previous update, but the bugs have kicked out with the new update and all is good in the wood! Cheers guys..Version: 1.12

Good appGreat for planning and getting an over view of local trails or trails near places you’re staying!.Version: 1.22

Must haveGreat app if you travel. Also helps navigate you when you’re in new trails..Version: 1.64.3

Great toolNot only a useful trail resource; Trailforks actively gives back to the MTB community by providing the tools and resources to enable clubs and organisations to better inform users of trail difficulty ratings and conditions as well as receive funds by way of the Trail Karma feature. Practical and well designed apps..Version: 1.15

The best app for serious mountain bikersI don’t quite understand all the negative reviews. After a few weeks of use the app is very user friendly, I often use it to navigate with one hand while riding down the trail. $35/year is a really good deal for what you get. I love getting to see popular pre-mapped routes from other riders, this helps so much when visiting new areas. My favorite feature is that I can navigate even without cell signal, I ride a lot in Michigan's upper peninsula so I’m in and out of cell signal all day long. Highly recommend..Version: 1.58

Great content, but another subscription...The map data is awesome and it's very helpful to see where all the trails are. Subscription fatigue's got me frustrated. I don't need another thing to subscribe to..Version: 1.59.1

Great resourceA bike-specific trail mapping system with a strong community involvement and an excellent team supporting this. The app is an excellent window into the trails that have been mapped. Gels well with Strava. If you want more, then use the web site. Actually works quite well through a mobile browser too. Great job guys!!.Version: 1.6

Great appLove this app very handy and use it a lot! Would recommend.Version: 1.25.4

Best app there is to discover MTB trailsI love Trailforks. It has the most comprehensive map/list of trails, at least in the places I ride, and I find it absolutely invaluable in my riding. I happily pay the subscription fee as I fee I get way more than my money’s worth from this app.Version: 1.59.1

It is goodIt is free u idiot.Version: 1.60.1

A must have! You NEED this app!!! It uses no wifi AND tells u which way ur facing! Sooo helpful y’all.Version: 1.26

AmazingI just went biking and it gave me live gps location all the way round and showed me how far around I was and what direction I was facing Worked really well Only suggestion would to make it so you can see how much the whole trail distance is not just the sections. Love the app and would highly recommend it 😀.Version: 1.48

Amazing appThis app is by far the best for trail browsing. Even though it looks like there are not many people it is still very useful for reports/ conditions. I definitely recommend this app and the will just get better as the Trailforks community grows. I have found new mtb trails near me that I never new existed. I really recommend this app..Version: 1.33

Just dig it!!!Thankyou for building this app! Talked about doing something like this so many times, just awesome you guys have done it! Works a charm.Version: 1.12

Great appThis app knows my home town better than I do! It’s shown me heaps of tracks I didn’t even know existed - heaps of great tracks - and ratings and comments and technical info about all of them. Records rides and even gives you little progress achievements etc... Couldn’t be happier with it!.Version: 1.28

AmazingBest app! I’d be so lost withot this. Would like to see an Apple Watch app please.Version: 1.65.3

Great AppFirst impression looks great, love the ease of use, finding trails, viewing stats/profiles and being able to link straight to videos of the trails. The Nav options look great also..Version: 1.7

Quality AppI hesitated when the app went to a pay model, but the app is well built with good features, all the geodata I want to know, and snappy performance. It’s the best experience for mtb I’ve used. Developing a quality app isn’t easy, and the fee is easy to justify when I consider the work to make it. The developers are continuing to add new maps and support for other activity types as well- they aren’t resting on their laurels raking it in. Since the database is a community effort, hopefully they will figure out how to give membership credits to their most valuable contributors. (That isn’t me).Version: 1.56

UsefulReally good for playing rides and looking for new trails ,would be better if the trails were updated more often.Version: 1.15

Great GPS, Map Slightly "Buggy."After using the app for only a few weeks, I have been pretty happy & impressed with its features, especially the GPS in airplane mode. My only issue, and hopefully this new update (6/4/17) fixes it, but when using the app for GPS purposes, the menu portion at the bottom of the page keeps popping up when I attempt to zoom in/out. This proved to be extremely annoying because the map would not allow me to see more/less of the trail I was on. Every time I zoomed in/out, that annoying options menu would pop up and not allow me to do anything with the map. Finger crossed the new update fixes it 🤞.Version: 1.12

CoolI just started riding bikes but the map isn’t updated where I am so it doesn’t show all the tracks I’ve been going on.Version: 1.25.4

Love itLove it it’s really good for everything holding and biking I do wish that i didn’t have to pay but the app works fine without paying anyway..Version: 1.65.3

No longer crashes at startupWhatever problem it was has been fixed. App startup always took to long and used to need reinstalling any time I wanted to run it / a restart. That hasn’t happened for a month maybe. I now trust the app again. Sweet!.Version: 1.35

Best App EverTruly the best app I've ever used extremely detailed found local tracks on here I didn't even know existed 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽.Version: 1.2.0

Trailforks is worth every penny, and then someI use the heck out of Trailforks, particularly when I’m traveling to new places. It’s my primary resource for finding the best mtb trails anywhere. I find it MUCH easier to use than the (many) other mtb apps I’ve tried. Seeing your location, even with no cell service, is a game-changer for navigation and knowing what’s coming on the trail, also pep-talking your friends ;) I know users got grumpy when Trailforks started charging money, but seriously, it’s worth way more than $36/year. Thank you, Trailforks..Version: 1.58

MapVery helpful got me out of a lot of sticky situations.Version: 1.64.3

Great app but could be better using Apple WatchGreat app but would be nice if they could make it compatible with Apple Watch like they have done with Garmin forerunner.Version: 1.49

Must have for mtbersBest way to discover new tracks and best places to park and which way to ride. So so good can’t understate how cool it is to find trails in your area you didn’t even know were there and instead of going through the pain of figuring it out the hard way it’s all laid out for you!.Version: 1.22

Best trail appGives you all you need to know about your local trails. So pleased I found this app as it has introduced me to so many trails in the Brisbane/Queensland area that I would never have known about. Perfect!!!! thank you..Version: 1.26

FantasticAwesome to have a worldwide trail network with such easy access, it's really opening up local riding zones to out of towners and encouraging exploration of riders to expand zones trail portfolios.Version: 1.3.0

It’s sweet.Sick dope.Version: 1.59.1

Font IssueI love the ap, it’s awesome, but I don’t like the highlighted outlined font on satellite view. It’s too hard to read..Version: 1.60.1

ExcellentTrailforks has everything you need. Go somewhere, it tells you where to ride, and gets it right within a few metres. Cheap as chips for what you get. Love it..Version: 1.65.3

Amazing appAmazing app perfect apart from the fact that whenever I try to connect to strava I tick all the boxes and an error message comes up. Really recommend app and it will only get better as the community grows.Version: 1.33

Very handyUsed it for a few days on a road trip in Scotland. Very handy. Most trails on it, some missing. Bit battery hungry and occasionally crashes, but the pluses far outweigh any negatives. Can only get better I'm sure..Version: 1.9

New TracksThere’s some new tracks around warriewood that some school kids built. It’s a reasonable track and is used quite a bit so I thought you might want to add it on the map. It’s in between the 2 round abouts on Warriewood Road. Overall the map is really accurate and I use it a lot..Version: 1.57.2

Works wellVery useful tool for mountain biking. Use it every time I go out on my bike.Version: 1.21

Works great with Garmin FenixAdd the Trailforks app to your Garmin Fenix and you can download Trailforks routes straight to your watch. Saves them as a course. Awesome functionality, you get great routes and can still track the activity. Nice one!.Version: 1.55

Its getting better , be loyal. Give it time. This app has a lot of potential and getting better. I use it all the time, cant wait for them to really step up their game. Great job guys keep improving!!.Version: 1.60.1

Best riding app you will findBest riding app you will find And is FREE!!! Community keep it updated New to a loca area? Find the trails here!! It helped me a lot on different location.Version: 1.12

Not perfect, but a good and useful app that just needs a bit more loveWhile there are other apps that do the same thing in a more polished way, I find Trailforks to work very well. For me, the Garmin Edge integration is a game changer and the ability to just add a trail to my wish list and have it pop up on my Edge is huge..Version: 1.59.1

Brilliant appI’m not a bot from the creators I just love the app it is very useful for finding trails near me when I want to ride.Version: 1.27

Useful but flawedGreat app... Love the fact that you can find routes “off piste”.Version: 1.25.4

Please readThis app is awesome, it tracks your rides or hikes. My only wish is that they had an air tag tracking so you don’t have to take your phone and only pack your airtag and it track that. Otherwise this app is amazing..Version: 1.64.0

Glitchy with bad internet connectionThe only issue I have with the app is that when your internet connection is bad (like when you’re out on a trail, exactly when you’d use the app) it continuously refreshes your location. You’re not able to zoom out and move the map around for more than literally one second, which makes it difficult to plan out future runs when you’re out and about. It zips you straight back to your location as if you had pressed the button to do that. Literally after 1 second of searching around the map. It’s terribly unhelpful..Version: 1.59.1

Happy to pay for itAt least in my area trailforks is the best app for finding trails. And I’d rather pay than have ads thrown at me constantly. Everyone complaining about paying is forgetting that this is an app run by a business. If that business goes under, the app disappears. Anyways. Great app. Lots of map layers and advanced functionality. For example segments can be seen, which is great for finding “social” trails, heat maps can be turned on which is great for seeing what trails people actually ride. In some areas people do a great job updating the trail conditions, and so it’s very useful to know where snow has/hasn’t melted out. Great app with great functionality. Not cheap, but improves my mountain biking more per dollar than any upgraded component I’ve ever bought for my bike. So useful when traveling..Version: 1.53

Mountain BikingGreat, has all the mountain bike trails, pics, and regular user trail condition updates. I’d you’re looking for new trails or trying to plan a new route there is not better tool. Yes you have to pay for it, if you’re traveling or constantly exploring new trails it’s perfect. Best for mountain bike, decent for hiking, not very complete for atvs..Version: 1.59.1

Excellent mountain bike trail mapsI use this mostly for exploring new mountain bike trails…Excellent App..Version: 1.63.4

This app is soo awsomeeeIt’s so accurate and it’s perfect for a mountain bike rider or even just riding with mates it’s an app I have been waiting for ages so glad it’s been made ❤️ Only thing it needs is bug fixes !!.Version: 1.33

Great app!The app works well and has never let me down offline or online. I think it’s hilarious that a bunch of people that spend thousands of dollars on bikes and related equipment, maintenance and travel every year are bugged about a $3 monthly subscription. I understand that the trail data is crowdsourced for free, but maintaining and improving the app itself takes man-hours that have to be paid for somehow. Maybe a better free alternative will eventually arise with all the annoyed people who can’t spare $36 in their yearly budget 🙄 As it stands, this is the most comprehensive and useful app for mountain bikers and I wouldn’t think of riding without it..Version: 1.54

The price is worth itFor those complaining of paying for something that was free, it’s time to accept that it’s not free to develop apps, they are either selling your data, selling ad space or providing a cheaper product because they aren’t making money on free services. hopefully with an income being generated they will start adding more features or improving current ones. Gamification would be a great start, especially for improving trail maps which, at least in my areas, seem a little out of date..Version: 1.45

Updated after better researchI still would have loved the option to pay for an upgraded version, or understood increased marketing on this platform first before making the majority of the app only available through payment, however, I have to appreciate the concept of being ad free. This app really does have it all, which is why we’ve become spoiled :-). After further research and seeing the 50% off for those who adopt this app early in the first 30 days, I’ll give it a try. It says that the 50% off remains in effect for as long as you keep the app, not just a one time thing. I hope that remains true. Additionally I truly appreciate the access to the emergency option even in the free mode. Keeping in mind that it can be used 6 times, you have had great insight into the needs of your customers. This app really saved the day when the school took our kids out cross country skiing and needed a faster route back to the bus for some kids. This app is certainly worth the extra investment in my opinion. Thanks for all you do!.Version: 1.45

Update needs fixing, mapbox not workingApp doesn’t work properly since update, doesn’t show regions (eg. “Location” bike park), and trails disappear when zooming out, and map quality is less.Version: 1.35

Fantastic app for discovering trails while travelling! This app is fantastic! I am using it at the moment while travelling New Zealand on a 'year of adventure'. I've been using it to navigate as well as it uses google maps and shows where all the nearby trails are. Trail descriptions and conditions are just a tap away and you can get info on individual trails of whole trail networks. It's a great tool for planning where you're going next. Map regions are downloaded on a country basis and are extremely comprehensive. I've found some great trails off the beaten track I would have otherwise passed. They even have some race routes to help you train for next year. Trail regions are very easily updated and downloads, even initially, are really small. Trail maps can be viewed in really bad reception and have really saved me a bunch of times after taking a couple of wrong turns. It's a great app and an absolute must for your next mountain biking holiday, or even just finding those trails around home you never knew existed..Version: 1.4.0

Great App - keep up the dev workOnly had the App a short time. Immediately stepped up to Pro... as another reviewer said nothing good is for free, not entirely true as the free version of this is great but I wanted to support this Developer! Just for now the armchair-cruising of rides near me is worth it! And when I start traveling it could be invaluable. We’ll see. But for now good work developer and keep up there maintanence and improvements!.Version: 1.49

Good for finding your wayUseful for finding your way around the trails and seeing the typography of what’s ahead. App crashes every time you try to add a photo to a trail…. Frustrating!.Version: 1.57.1

Best trail appGreat for mountain biking and hiking, you can continue to use the website for free if you don’t want to pay for the app.Version: 1.61.0

Great way to find trailsGreat app for finding new trails then evaluate difficulty and elevation changes.Version: 1.13

Best MTB app by far.Such a great app. Accurate, useful and has helped me discovered so much riding. Every mountain biker should have this. I only hope more people keep using it to make it even better!.Version: 1.24

Almost perfectThis app does the trick for finding trails around me. There are plenty of locations around me listed on the map and often, they have helpful little paragraph blurbs that describe the area and which parts are good for what. Filtering trails by popularity instead of difficulty is also a great way to know what trails to hit first if it's my first time somewhere. That said, there is one flaw that's fatal for picking a trail network on the map. As soon as you zoom out a certain amount, the red squares with black text remain full size and they totally hinder my ability to see any actual trails on the map. They go away when you zoom in close enough, but when I want to pick a trail network to visit, I effectively can't zoom out over my state and compare my options. Just look at Massachusetts and you'll see towns like Grafton are literally covered by a wall of red squares. This makes exploring a new state or area extremely tedious on the map. If the red squares and text disappeared or got smaller when you zoomed out a bit, the map would be a lot more usable for that purpose..Version: 1.40
