✓ Latest updates are badThis app used to be great but seems a bit buggy with latest app update\watch OS update. The tide info seems out on the watch & doesn’t show on the phone app, same with the forecast, it won’t update on the watch unless I open the phone app. Clicking on the forecast on the watch used to give you a lot of info on current conditions & you could scroll through the forecast but now it only shows current wave height. Hopefully this improves with the next update..Version: 10.08

✓ Was Good - now redundantNo good if you can’t afford a new Apple Watch. This was my go to Apple Watch surf forecast app. Unfortunately the latest update no longer opens on my watch. I guess because I can’t get the latest iOS. Therefor it is redundant. Loved that this was the only surf forecast app with complications for iWatch. ✓ Mostly love it! Few exceptions.Soo i dig the warch app… I love looking at my watch and seeing what the swell, buoys?, wind direction and speed, etc. I love seeing what’s coming in the next few days… One major problem! The tide info is always off! It’s never lined up properly with the times up top… So following the line at various times gives a mix mash of info. Not to mention the tide info always seems incorrect when compared to Lola, Surfline, SwellInfo, etc. -star for this. Second is the premium stuff… I have no idea if it’s worth it or not… but with many hobbies and everything having a fee, even a couple of dollars here and there or every month on soo many places adds up and just won’t do it. ✓ Forecast okI havent surfed with this app yet but like it so far. The layout is good and information is pretty accurate except my major problem is that I have units set to feet but the tide display on the watch will only do meters. Waves are in feet, tide in meters. Stumped..Version: 3.11

✓ Needs more consistencyMy biggest issue is when I select feet and mph everything should change to show it that way, however my watch and phone are completely different. Completely different. ✓ A bit iffyI’m not real sure about this app. I really like the idea of it but don’t really believe it’s worth. Quite often it doesn’t measure or track any waves in a session. It’s good for heart and paddle readings though. One thing that really annoys me is their surf forecast. For example I live on the Gold Coast, the winds howling northerly, there’s 1-2ft of wind slop and I get an alert saying it’s 6ft! This is easy to check and get right for the developers. ✓ Has potential but not reliableCould be a great app if it functioned as designed. Same problem as others that it won’t stop tracking after pressing the stop button. Even worse, the last two sessions don’t track waves. No wave count on the watch and the iphone app (on the map) indicates ‘wave data unavailable’. Tracks strokes and energy used well buy this is supposed to track surfing. The Apple app can track swimming and energy burned. Hopefully these issues can be worked out but seems like the technology still isn’t there for these surf apps on the Apple Watch..Version: 2.02

✓ Inaccurate air temperatureNice app just needs to be more accurate. Majorly inaccurate air temperature. Says it 122 degrees and it’s currently 59 degrees. ✓ Extreme need for bug fixesI purchased a pro account and I like this app due to the sensitivity. South Florida has a lot of small waves that Dawn Patrol just doesn’t track. Bug issues: - constantly closes itself out - doesn’t respond when deleting waves - does not save edits well - doesn’t keep track of deleted waves when you change the sensitivity - doesn’t have all of my local breaks (Dawn Patrol will update the list) There are many more issues in other reviews.. I’ve been checking the App Store for a bug fix update since I downloaded the app months ago but it doesn’t seem like the creators care to resolve the many complaints in the reviews. ✓ Needs workGreat app. At least, great potential to fill a void for the Apple Watch for surfers. However needs a bit of work. The complications do not update unless you open the app on the phone. Which is exactly the point not to have to do. The complications also don’t seem to move along throughout the day for let’s say the tides. So for that option I may have to move back to the tides app. For swell etc it seems ok. However, again, having to open the phone to have it update the watch, needs work!.Version: 4.11

✓ Neat but buggy. Needs fixing.I live in a condo on the ocean. I’m more interested in snorkeling than surfing so I’m using the app backwards to watch for when it’s calm and glassy. The air temp and water temp info is busted. Set it to Celsius and the air temp shows Fahrenheit and the water temp shows Celsius. Set it to Fahrenheit and the water temp show correct but then the air temp is like 160 degrees. The multipliers are off or out of sync. The water temp complication on Apple Watch doesn’t change to Fahrenheit either. Such basic info and it’s sad it’s broken. It seems like the developer is in an updating mood with weekly updates which is why I decided to buy it anyways and support the development. ✓ Water tempWould use this daily and also purchase an Apple Watch only if it had water temp for each surf spot. Most other developers, such as, Surfline includes water temp in the day to day forecasts. This is very beneficial to gauge the type of wetsuit to bring. ✓ Always shows 1ft waves which is wrongAlways shows there are 1ft waves where in reality it’s 2-3 (I surf there, Santa Cruz CA). Not enough measuring points, other providers show more places. Where is Cowell’s? Widget is sooo buggy. Never updates. I added 2 fav places, removed 1 and now it shows the one I removed. Does it track surfing? I don’t think so either. ✓ Not quite there.On a scale of KookSlams to Kelly Slater this is in between. It only tracked 4/6 waves in a session even though they were long at a reef break. The data is cool, integrates well, and is a fun novelty, but there has to be better tracking. Not to mention the cool data of the paddling distance got lost somewhere. I was at 2 miles and it says .03. Unless that is wave distance ridden but it can’t be because the map shows longer than that. So I give it 5 stars for fun, but 3 for functionality..Version: 3.11
