LifeLock ID Theft Protection for Negative User Reviews

Not really interested in helpingI have been using LifeLock for a few years now. Other than taking my money for membership, I am not convinced that anyone is willing to help identify or prevent identity theft. I recently had an incident where I started to receive collection notices for an account that I had no knowledge of. When I call for help I am told to reach out to the institution that I feel is the culprit. Of course when You reach out to the suspicions institution, they want to gather your personal information. The whole process leaves you very exposed. If life lock tracks and identifies bad actors in the industry then they should step up to the plate and act on our behalf. Instead they ask you to be come the professional. This effectively throws you to the wolves. I am very unhappy that I’ve paid lifelock for their premium service for so long yet when needed, receive no help at all. If someone out there can recommend an alternative service. I would love to hear from you. Lifelock for me has been a waste of money..Version: 2.4

Problems need to be resolved ASAPUpdate: There is still no option to archive alerts. I currently have 8 alerts from 2019 that cannot be archived. It’s not an option. The app states that if I recognize the activity, I don’t need to do anything. Well, how about allowing the user to clear these alerts. Every time I open the app, I see that I have alerts to view, I check and they are still her old ones. As of late, this app has been problematic. I have 8 alert messages from 2 years ago that will not archive nor will not clear. They are presumably permanent. I requested help from Lifelock to remove these old alerts and yet, 2 years later, they are still showing. The app will not archive them. It does not give me to option to do so. Newest issue arose this week. I received a credit check alert (good). I confirmed it was me as I am have a refinancing done on my mortgage. The alert cleared. All should be ok. Instead of being ok, I received 6 alert yesterday and more today. When I go in and check, there is no new alert. The only alerts are the ones from 2 years ago. I’m currently at the point to where I am going to disable the notification function for the app. All I am getting is false alarms. This situation makes the app useless for notifications. Until LifeLock resolves the inability to archive old alerts and stops the false alerts, I rate this as a 1 star..Version: 3.23

Bad support & Bad UXSupport is atrocious. I had a problem where my credit scores weren’t showing up in the app and they refused to do anything meaningful about it for weeks. They repeatedly told me my ticket was assigned to the responsible team but nothing progressed for weeks. Each call involved around 1+ hours of hold time, and included multiple ignorant support staff who could not figure out why my credit reports were available from every free online service but not from LifeLock (a paid service). At multiple points they asked me to call Equifax as if they would magically fix LifeLock’s broken tech. After I refused and I got a slightly less idiotic manager to agree to do something about it, they magically fixed the problem in 2 days. Oh also take out that ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS “we logged you out” notification. It makes me hate using the app literally every time. It needs to go burn in a fire. It is the single most useless and infuriating part of any app or feature on my phone..Version: 2.4

Total ripoffI redime miles from my frequent flyer to get an app that is totally crippled and extremely limited. This app is designed only to force you to “update” to the most common and free options found in other apps that do exactly the same for free. This app only gives you 6 months of crippled functions. This app only wants you money. If a 6 months are offer by redime your friquen miles from an airline you should have access to all features and after the 6 month period is over we the end users should have the option to upgrade to a full year if we want to. Why would you take my mikes and never pretend to give me full access to all the features that I have to pay ? You all ready have my miles. Total rip off. Download other app that will give you full access to all features with a 6 month and if you like it then pay in full. Looks elsewhere do not use this app. UPDATE. If you want to monitor your emails on the dark web you have to enter all your email that you have and I have been receiving emails from this app 3 o 4 every day to each email that I have input (spams) asking me to upgrade this app from the 6 months to a full blown app this spam email are too much. I have unsubscribe but I still have spams every day. Stay away !!!.Version: 3.6

App design is very poor , has no artificial intelligence1 The mobile app doesn’t even provide the credit scores in an intuitive way. The sections are very poorly designed and difficulty to navigate ( eg there is a whole section on how your credit scores are calculated , but the actual credit score is missing ! Lolz 2 the app has absolutely zero artificial intelligence . All banks have better ability to customize alerts these days but LifeLock will bother you with twenty phone calls over the month with alerts of stupid stuff (of course it depends on the limits you have set , but there should be a way to say that the regular payments like mortgages etc which go every month and are above $1000 are not a matter of “ alert” but lifelock has an automated system which will keep calling in an irritatingly serious tone “ this is not a sale call , we have monitored an activity on your account “ what the heck !! In this age of artificial intelligence learn to differentiate between pre set financial activity and the fraudulent activity !!! Common guys , go get yourself a better IT vendor to work with.Version: 3.9

No supportThere is no customer service, no support. I made a mistake by pushing no instead of yes and there was no way to reverse my input This triggered an investigation on a valid transaction . I called the 800 # for support and there were only several prompts to choose from no live person. I left a message and no one ever called back. I logged on to the website and asked for chat help —-no one available. I sent an email request and got no response . I have been paying for my membership for 5 years and this is the first time I’ve asked for help. I think LifeLock is a scam. If someone does steal my identity there is no one there to help me . It is not like their advertisements state about helping you immediately.i am going to ask for a refund they have collected 5 years of payments from me with no intention of helping me..Version: 3.14

It’s still up to you.I keep an account with Experian and have for years. I make sure I use credit alerts on my bank accounts and credit cards. I also make sure I always have my Norton security software on all our computers and phones. I received LifeLock as an add on to Norton. Frankly it’s just insurance. I make sure that my family is very familiar with social engineering and how it is used to compromise the security of our accounts and how it is used by identity thieves. LifeLock is a tool, like the lock and key on your front door of your home. You are the one who remembers to close and lock the door. Keep your address up to date with credit bureaus and dispute any incorrect information there. Be aware of ways social engineering is used by criminals to exploit the one thing most vulnerable, which is you. The LifeLock service and this application are tools, but if you don’t make yourself aware of how you can protect yourself by being aware of how email and other communications are used to load malware and virus software to your devices and to get you to reveal PII information used for identity theft, then no tool or insurance will prevent criminals from targeting you..Version: 3.10

Great program, but terrible app and customer service!I gave you a 3 star rating only for my hope that your program will work if I ever have to take advantage of it. But after that, it is a 1 star support program. You can’t do anything on the app really but monitor. If you try to manage your account or change anything you have to call. That is where the pain starts. You go through the automated zoo and end up talking with “Bob” or “Sally” from somewhere in India after 30 min if you are lucky. You can’t understand what they say half the time, they can’t give you straight answers. It is utterly painful. Let alone when “Bob” or “Sally” have equipment issues or your call gets dropped and you have to start over. Some of the worst app and customer service EVER! I can only imagine what would happen if I had to use their program guarantee and “Bill” or “Beatty” from India had to help me..Version: 3.21

Just ok, certainly not worth the cost!So my wife and I have used LifeLock for two years now and truth be told other than providing instant credit scores from all three reporting agencies it does nothing more that my bank or credit card companies do. For example Amex sends me immediate notifications every time a charge occurs. My bank is SunTrust and I recently had odd charges which my bank noticed did not fit my purchasing pattern so the fraud department immediately contacted me to inquire about it. LifeLock never caught it. LifeLock is kind of like that commercial where the bank is being robbed and the security guard says there’s a robbery happening- they tell you but they don’t protect you and it’s after the fact. Certainly not worth the money and has no value that my credit card companies and banks don’t already offer. Just my experience can’t speak for others..Version: 3.8

Excellent UI, but not possible to login in Version 3.0The application is beautifully designed, and virtually fun to use. I particularly like the ability to receive and respond to financial alerts immediately. Unfortunately, it is not possible to log into this latest version of the application If you have a very long user ID and password handled by a password manager: 1. Launch the app 2. Login screen appears 3. Switch to password app 4. Copy user ID 5. Switch to LifeLock 6. Paste user ID 7. Switch to password app 8. Copy password 9. Switch to LifeLock 10. The user ID has been cleared out! If you experience this problem, I’ve discovered a workaround: 1. Launch Safari on your phone 2. Visit the LifeLock member portal 3. Login 4. Safari will offer to save your login 5. Now launch the LifeLock app 6. Login screen appears 7. Touch the user ID field 8. iOS keyboard appears 9. Touch the padlock icon on keyboard 10. Select “LifeLock” from the list of saved login details. Update: Three phone calls and two emails later, I still have not been able to get through to anybody who is remotely connected with the iPhone app. The company is far too large and bureaucratic for its own good. Responses to email appear to be automated..Version: 3.0

Many aspects are good, but not credit scoresI have been a Norton and LifeLock customer from well before they merged. I have found great value in many of the security aspects. My reason for the 3-star rating is because being able to see credit scores within the app is helpful as a snapshot, but not (in this case) if they’re not updated regularly. It has been over 13 months and I’ve had to sign up with those credit agencies (Transunion and Experian) to see accurate scores. I’m not expecting to get them refreshed every month, but if it can’t be done on an annual basis, why bother having them? I have emailed Customer Service and I’ve heard nothing back about why this is the case. At least I trust that my computer and identity are safe..Version: 3.19

NO ALERTS!I have been a LifeLock customer for years, paying hundreds of dollars for LifeLock’s “protection.” Unfortunately, the only alerts I seem to get are the ones notifying me that LifeLock is about to bill me. In the last year, I changed my address multiple times, got a cellphone plan, applied and obtained a new credit card, got a car loan, and took out a mortgage on a house. You would think these things would trigger an alert from LifeLock. However, I did not receive so much as a peep from LifeLock. When I called to discuss my dissatisfaction with LifeLock’s customer service, they bounced me around between four employees for over two hours. None of the employees seemed knowledgeable or competent, mostly tells me that companies need to opt-in to cooperating with LifeLock in order for LifeLock to monitor illegal activity. In closing, LifeLock provides a false sense of security. I was able to enter multiple contracts and pull hundreds of thousands of dollars in new lines of credit without LifeLock ever alerting me. Don’t throw away your money!.Version: 3.0
