DiskMark performs real world speed tests and shows:
+ Sequential read/write speeds which is the performance you see when copying large files.
+ Random read/write speeds which is the performance you experience when opening or using programs that read and write a lot of files to disk.

DiskMark is extremely simple to use and invaluable if you work with any USB drives (flash or external harddisks). It also exhausts I/O buffer caches, resulting in highly accurate results which you can expect to see in real life. A history of benchmarks lets you quickly compare your own drives.

The latest NVME/M.2 SATA SSDs employ various techniques such as SLC caching and DRAM buffers to showcase better speeds. DiskMark is specifically built to take these into account so that the read/write performance reported in the benchmark is as close to the real-life performance.

✓ Useful utilityUnlike the free Black Magic Speed test which is only designed for Video use this gives both Sequential and Random write speeds on HD and SSD's. It handily keeps a list for multiple drives so I could compare my different drives to determine the best ones to use. Sure, it won't work on a write only volume like the main drive of a Mac SSD, but how could it? This kind of app must both read and write in order to compute the results..TwizellVersion: 2.2

✓ Works Great SSD, Flash Drives, SDWorth the price. I've used it to test SSD HD drives (Samsung 1TB SSD T5), USB 3 flash drives (Lexar 128 GB and PNY 128 GB) and SD XC card (Lexar Pro 633x 64 GB rated at 95 MB/s). Results were consistent where expected (sequential read/write), mostly consistent for random reads (suprising) and random for random writes (expected). Lexar card came in at 86 MB/s seq read which was just under their advertise rate of 95 MB/s. An app I'd highly recommend if you like to optimize your storage..VancouverDougVersion: 2.1
