✓ Quality of reporting has fallenThe quality of reporting has declined over time. Pretty much every article is a fluff piece as in there isn’t any articles of the issues that plague Ventura county. ✓ So frustrating!Why are there two different apps for this local newspaper? My husband was talking about an article he read yesterday, but I was unable to find it in the relevant section or with the almost completely useless search function, no matter what terms I tried. When he sent me a link, I had to install the other app, then wade through images of the pages until I found the headline. It makes no sense at all! ✓ Crap AppI much preferred the old app. I liked the layout of the e-newspaper format. I love to read the news in a way that simulates a real physical newspaper. I appreciate how actual newspapers are organized; political, sports, financial sections, etc. I read the news on my iPad. The format for new e-newspaper on this devise is terrible. Way more cumbersome. In addition, I don’t like the “other” Home Screen choices where the newspaper chooses the main news stories for the reader. I’m literate, I’m capable of determining what’s important to me. Really, perhaps you should offer a second app that offers only the e-newspaper. I’m seriously considering canceling my subscription (Likely I will). For $20/month it’s annoying that my ability to simply choose my news format is so limited..Version: 7.3.2
✓ Total FraudThe Ventura County Star fraudulently renewed my subscription without consent or authorization. My promotional subscription expired in March 2022 and I made sure auto subscription was off. Then, in December 2022, they charged my iTunes account 9.99 without my consent or desire to subscribe. I’ve reached out to them numerous times with regard and they are totally ignoring my requests for cancellation and refund. Such a total fraud! I’m contacting the BBB with this matter as I am not going to let this go as they may hope..Version: 6.12.5

✓ Why?!?I pay for a subscription to the newspaper, but every time I open the app, I get ads to buy a subscription. Also, I find I’m not allowed to read some articles, I get an error saying the article is only available to subscribers. I close the app, re-open and sometimes I get the article, but still sometimes not. ✓ Woefully InadequateDifficult to navigate. Not informative. Has the quality of an app that was created for 1999. Needs a complete redesign. For a news organization like VC Star, I had higher expectations, especially in the provision of local news. I find that to be fully informed of local news, I must go to KVTA’s website, which often has more coverage (and it is free). Sad..Version: 6.10.0
