SynthScaper for Positive User Reviews

Deeper even yet! This app continues to excel and the dev continues to develop it..Version: 1.2

Complex soundsThis is the kind of app I've been waiting for for the iPad for a long time...one that can do really dense, complex soundscapes. It does have a bit of a learning curve, but ample documentation is provided. One thing to take note: most of the included sounds are pretty dark/suspenseful. I hope that a future update will have some lighter sounds and textures for more relaxing/chill kinds of drones, because I'm sure it will excel at those kinds of sounds, too..Version: 1.0

MagnificoSimply THE best digital synth for iPhone...newly added randomizer feature is inspiring..Version: 1.4

Amazing sounds!Just had a little play with this and already it inspired me to make my first live jam video! Wonderful for laid back ambient as well as uptempo ambient..Version: 1.0

Another homerun by IgorOne of the best synths on the App Store. The sound quality is on the level of Animoog or Roli. I wish the keyboard could be extended, for performance, like the Animoog can; but this one responds better (and better than Roli too). I'm loving making my own. Not just an app but an adventure! Would be nice to have Ableton Link ....Version: 1.0

Incredible and inspiringI have all the iOS synths that are worth talking about. Rarely do I review them, as I simply abscond with them into my nerd-hole once they've been discovered. This one is special. Texturally rich and very intuitive, you'll probably spend hours just fiddling before you use it in a track. Happy droning!.Version: 1.0

Phenomenal!Holy Soundscapes Batman! Seems complicated at first, but quickly becomes a breeze. You’ll be making movie quality layered and textured soundscapes that will blow you away! Definitely worth every penny.Version: 1.4.5

MasterpieceIf you are a really looking for easy understandable instrument just use garageband it is an awesome instrument and daw but if you are a sound designer looking more here this is a real deal, a MASTERPIECE.Version: 1.7.9

Well worth the purchaseWe are lucky enough to be spoilt for choice with iOS music apps, my bank balance is the only one that isn't happy about this state of affairs but it's a nice place to be in. This app really stands out for me as doing something different to most and doing it very well. It already feels like a classic/go to piece of equipment amongst my apps and it'll stay in use for a long time to come. This sits alongside Nave, Animoog, iVCS3 in terms of quality. Very musical, very lush sounding, deep without being over complicated I'm looking forward to seeing what the future updates bring to a very very solid v1.0. I'd happily purchase this again for more £££'s as a VST/AU for the Mac.Version: 1.0

I love this app.Lots of fun to play with. Very flexible with access to just about any parameter. Still working with it and having a great time..Version: 1.4

Deep and fun great sound designerAs others have said the learning curve is a little steep but just messing with all the controls will result in some nice happy accidents. One question I have as I had noticed recently that the “special edition” has auv3 support. If we want that functionality do we need to shell out another $5 or are you planning on bringing that functionality here? Thanks for all your work, I own all your other apps that aren’t SE too and they are just as fun and there is so much to explore :).Version: 1.7.9

Amazing !!!This is a great app. It has all the great options to manipulate sounds used by its elder sisters (or brothers;) apps, such as FieldScaper and Soundscaper. On top of all these, here you have a keyboard- like active surface, which is actually like seaboard type of 3 dimensional sound sculpture ! Simply amazing !!! I'm doing both pop music, but also home recordist brutal experimentalist drenching sound baths ;) nothing you can't do with scraper series - and currently Synthscaper...I'm not soliciting, but there are so many apps that cost similar amount of bucks, but give you times less stuff compared to this one ...try it, you won't regret it !!! OooooohAaaaaaah, whooooooooo! OMG! Ooh, ooh, ahh! WOW. NIIIIIIIICCCCCCCEEEEEE! BUY IT, BUY IT NOW.Version: 1.0

This is why I obtained an iPadIf you like "ambient" music at all, just get it. Even if you don't play music usually and just listen you will have fun just messing around discovering with this app..Version: 1.0

Simply the bestI have a preference for Ambient music & this synth is fantastic, the best in its class. With the frequent updates promised it is sure to be a winner!.Version: 1.1

More Potential Than I Know What To Do With!Pros: - Layers upon layers of user control - A room full of analog/digital audio tech in your hand - Developers still update and improve app - Multiple feasible applications - Relatively cheap for capabilities Cons: - Harsh learning curve - User can’t create own UI color palette If you are serious about making music, sound effects, or audio based environments, this app is one of the best things you can get without spending a ton of money limiting yourself to a desktop and a room full of analog machines. The amount of freedom this app gives the user is amazing for a mobile format. If you are an audio engineer, music maker, or just someone trying to burn some free time, please try this app out and give the developers some love..Version: 1.5.3

Unique and must haveThere are a lot of synth apps. I have yet to find one that sounds like this. Must have. It’s just fun..Version: 1.7.9

Lost in SpaceAs a kid I used to love playing with synthesizers at the local electronics store; that all changed when they got a Nintendo. Fast forward a few decades... Bought this app on a whim after reading a review at Engadget and checking out some Youtube clips... as a visual artist I haven't spent much time at all on music, but Synthscaper looked like a fun way to make strange soundscapes to pair with my visuals. Two weeks later and I'm still addicted! Having no previous musical or audio training, I've been constantly amazed at the sounds I can create with this fantastic app. Igor Vasiliev has done a great job of providing sample soundscapes to pick apart, so I've been able to figure out most of the functions. He's also uploaded a few helpful videos since the initial release, and I've been using those to unlock more features. Synthscaper's equally well implemented on both iPad and iPhone; the interface is surprisingly suited to the iPhone dimensions although I can't seem to split the keyboard there as I can on the iPad. Really inspired, planning to look into Igor's other apps as well..Version: 1.0

Outstanding synthI, like many others who use iOS, either as noise engineers or musicians, have upwards of 40 synths. Each one has a flavour all its own. That being said, there are always going to be favourites. Synthscaper, is now, along with Animoog and Digital D1, my favourite. I don't know if the designer has a mind like mine, or the interface is just easy for me, but within a few hours of use, I have managed to get my head around the way it works. Like Audulus 3, the interface is exciting, without being too complex, and you feel that everything is in its right place, and is necessary. All feedback is largely obvious, with the exception of some graphical flourishes, but then I can live with that. The sheer control of all the Oscillators, LFO's, Envelopes etc, just leaves you in awe at how it all got crammed in. The work flow, while to some may seem odd, is very intuitive for me. There are still a few things that need sorting, but these are just niggles. Being able to create unique and interesting sounds is what Synths were invented for. Being able to then use this in a musical composition easily makes for a rewarding experience that has elevated this above many of the others. With the latest update, the Developer has added nicely thought out tweaks to the UI that make life easier, especially when editing presets. The change in colour for the OSC tabs does improve the interaction, because now I will know which oscillator matches which setting within the menu quicker. It's subtle changes like this that make all the difference. All in all a superb synth that helps create superb and rich textured sounds. What are you waiting for, buy it..Version: 1.7

Boggling but specialThe level of technicality with this app is intimidating. But the sounds it can reduce are extraordinary. Trade off. It would be great if there was a fast and easy way to export files from this to the new lite version. Nic.Version: 1.6.2

Thank You Dev!I recently had a crashing issue that only I seemed to have. The Dev stuck with me day in and day out until a fix was found about a week later. This Dev really goes above and beyond to help his customers. The service that I have gotten this week alone has made me a customer for life. Instabuy for any app from this DEV. One of my most beloved, go to, must have synths. So beautifully and brilliantly designed. Many, many thanks and hats off to this Dev who really cares and is committed to his customers. Cheers to this top notch Dev!.Version: 1.7.9

Deep layered synthscapesCreate rich textured timbres and evolving sounds. Lots of fun to be had here. I love it. Easy to get your own sounds in via open in and Dropbox. Nice expressive built in keyboard..Version: 1.0

DEEPDude! This Ap is totally deeeeep. Like most of Mr. Vasiliev’s applications, this one is very deep. It is difficult to compare it to anything else. It approaces the art and science of sound synthesis in a way that simply does not compare to many others. It is essentially a sample-based instrument, with 3 “oscilators”, each with 3 layers where each layer is a separate sample. Each layer can have a separate sample/waveform. And because the layers are all sample based, they can produce any sound you can capture or create. Moreover, each sample can be highly mutilated using the kind of bit-shifting that is similar to all of Mr. Vasiliev’s ther aps (SoundScaper and FieldScaper). LFOs and ADSRs are abundant (6 of each per ocillator, a total of 18 LFOs and ADSRs). Capturing samples is as easy as it gets using AudioShare. Audio quality is excellent and SynthScaper responds quickly to commands, making it performable, though getting down to the nitty-gritty of sound manipulation will not be easy in a live situation. There are many performance-related features: a manually controllable spatial interface places each “Oscilator” in its own location - left/right and front/rear. The keyboard can be mapped to many scales and you can create your own variations. Vertical and horizontal movement on the on-screen keyboard can be used to control various parameters. The arpegiators are a marvel. There are 3 separate arpegiators - one for each Oscilator. They can function like a conventional arpegiator but, consistent with the depth of the rest of the Ap, they can also function as a highly interactive sequencers as well! The Downside: There is nothing inherently bad or wrong here. But this is not an easy synthesizer to master. The interface is rather unconventional and learning it does not come easy. But that is the price you pay when you go to the depth that this Ap goes. You just have to be willing to go to the woodshed with this one. But that is time well spent and the rewards are well worth the effort. Some things that would make this GREAT synthesizer even better: I would like to see the spatial controler come under “voltage control” - LFO or sequencer or perhaps a recorder that will retain manual movement performed on the screen. SynthScaper integrates well with AudioBus and InterAp Audio. But making it available as a an Audio Unit would also open it up to the expanding range of AU controllers, such as the Rozeta Suite or the many AU sequencers now on the market. Finally, if there was a way to make the interface easier that would be good. But I cannot imagine how that could be done, given the ambitious depth to which this synthesizer goes... Bottom Line: If you want to go deep into sound creation and do things that are beyond the norm, this is your Ap. I cannot give it 6 Stars; but I would if I could!.Version: 1.4

ExcellentEasy to lose track of time while playing with this..Version: 1.4.5

Awesome!New update with new features.Synthscaper just got even more experimental..Version: 1.7

Simply amazingI have FieldScaper which is a blast but since I saw the trailer for this app I was drooling and let me tell you this app is AMAZING!!!! Get it now. You won't regret it. This guy has a blessed mind to come out with a keyboard like this. Thank you thank you. The other apps that have captured my attention as this one are animoog and geoshred. 6 stars!!!.Version: 1.0

This app is art!(Look at the title).Version: 1.0

Another amazing iOS music app from Igor VasilievSynthScaper continues the trend of amazing and unique apps from Igor Vasiliev. I'm a huge fan of SoundScaper and FieldScaper, and this newest app is just as good. Very deep and powerful. This will need plenty of exploration on my part..Version: 1.0

Please Make this AudioUnitThis is the only thing wrong is that I can’t load it up on a daw. So if you can make it AudioUnit Compatible is all I ask. It’s an amazing app, but just lacks this one major feature. It doesn’t even have interapp, but I would rather choose AudioUnit any day.Version: 1.7.9

Intensely MusicalThis is one of the most intensely musical apps I have ever come across - absolutely beautiful sound, and a real joy to work or play with. If there is one music app to be had in 2017, it has to be this..Version: 1.0

EvolveEverything this developer does is generally ahead of the pack. This latest update has put this app in the best of iOS synths of all time. Anyone can muddy sounds with Granular and add reverb- this app evolves the sounds in ways that please the ears and a retro Future GUI make it a charmer! Well done look for next app..Version: 1.4

MesmerisingFrom dense ambient textures to bright melodic keys, and for every sound that you might imagine beyond or between, this is an immense app. Highly recommended..Version: 1.0

GreatI've literally had no experience with an app like this and I still figured it out almost immediately. This is an incredibly intricate well designed app..Version: 1.0

Amazing app!!Please do not abandon project, ask for more money. People will gladly pay..Version: 1.7.9

Very Special AppThis app offers so many ways to play with sound, it's scary, I mean scary in the good sense. If you want to spend time creating incredible sounds then this is the app for you. There is a lot to learn. The more you learn, the more you can do. While you are learning you can still create complex sounds, so it's not as if you have to know everything to get cool sounds. It's a fun app because of how much control it gives you. If you want a simple app with only a few knobs and sliders, this is not for you. But if you are ambitious and want to dig into the world of complex sound making, then this app is one of the best of a short list. A real winner..Version: 1.0
