Justin Guitar Lessons & Songs for Positive User Reviews

Great appJustin guitar is probably one of the best guitar learning apps out there ….Version: 3.2.4

Perfect for a true beginnerTrying to learn to play my sons neglected electric guitar. I used to play some piano so can sort of read music but had never picked up a guitar before. Initially started using the Fender app, and breezed through the first through lessons, managed to form a few cords and do some basic strumming. But then around lesson 11 everything ground to a halt, they just assumed that you could suddenly start to make quick cord transitions. After struggling on for a week or so I decided to look elsewhere, and settled on JustinGuitar. What a difference, first an acknowledgment that quick cord transitions are actually really difficult for a beginner to do, and then a huge depth of advice, exercises and really simple songs to help you practice in lots of different ways. And it feels like a proper joined up learning programme from someone who really knows his stuff, and how to teach it too. Just what I needed to get me going again, highly recommend, thanks Justin !.Version: 2.3.7

Cool guyLooks like a guy I’d take a beer with… straightforward lessons with positive energy… I mean he’s a guitar guru and an even better teacher … have fun.Version: 3.4.2

Best app for beginners and beyondI started using this app to casually learn guitar at my own pace. I learned all the base chords and saved myself buckets of money on the beginner guitar learning. Once I got to a certain level I started with an in-person teacher to get more personalized instruction, but I always come back to this app for review of basics- and continuing on the path in between live lessons- I always get more tidbits when I watch the videos a 2nd time. Justin is a master at relating to the viewer and really breaking steps down so anyone can learn. Jump right in and go for learning guitar no matter how old you are- he's a spectacular teacher and this app is worth every penny!! Thanks Justin for being positive and fun with your instruction!.Version: 3.2.4

Bug where a viewed video doesn’t show as completeI’m going to start off by saying that I was led to this app by YT and Reddit via many recommendations from others. I just received a guitar for Christmas and first tried Simply Guitar which moved too fast and did not go into explanation as much as Justin does. His manner of teaching and explaining things I didn’t know I needed to know are just what I was looking for! Sometimes I will even ask a question in my head only to find that he answers it in the segment! Needless to say, I made the switch from the other app and will be following this plan. I’ve only noticed that a couple of times when I watched some of the videos, they do not immediately show as complete when returning to the segment’s dashboard. I’ve tried closing/reopening the app, replaying the video both normal and sped up, and there doesn’t seem to be a reason it eventually shows as complete. I can live with it but as a “list” person, seeing checked boxes make me feel a bit accomplished. :D.Version: 3.4.2

The BestJust started using app over the holidays and really glad I enrolled. Having had two previous Guitar teachers costing a lot more per lesson than the app does a month. I’ve learnt more in a couple of weeks than months of lessons. I went back to basics with Justin’s app and it was well worth it as it has been incredibly helpful in putting a number of things into shape... literally. The learning structure and progression is really well thought out and Justin has a very clear approach to demonstrating the exercises, theory and challenges. He clearly knows his stuff and comes across really well. I’m still going to keep my current teacher who is very good and it’s great to play with him and learn but I think the app on its own would really be all you need along with motivation, discipline and tenacity to make progress with the guitar. Thanks Justin keep up the good work 😎👍.Version: 3.1.11

Great for new or refresherI wish I had something like this app when I first started learning guitar 25 years ago. Even though I consider myself an intermediate guitarist I began at the start of the course and picked up quite a few new bits of information..Version: 3.1.23

Guitar learningGreat way to learn. Try it, it’s addictive. I had great fun learning! Still have heaps to learn though. Great course!.Version: 3.2.4

I look forward to my guitar practiceJustin, and this app, are fantastic. He had a great knack for teaching and explaining, and his program had been very well paced (so far - I'm on stage 4). I have recommended this app to friends and wouldn't change a thing if I had to do it again..Version: 2.2.5

Gets you playingJustin is an excellent teacher. He understands how difficult It can be and helps you through the potential issues with tips and hints. He explains each lesson well and gets you playing along to songs very quickly. However, he is a realist and makes it clear that practice is the key and not to expect miracles unless you do so. I find his lessons easy to follow and have progressed well since starting (even my wife says so). Aside from the lessons, there is some excellent advice on many other guitar related topics e.g. buying a guitar. He’s got some great mech too. I thoroughly recommend this app to anyone wanting to learn to play guitar..Version: 2.3.10

ExcellentExcellent app and a lot of fun to use.Version: 3.2.1

Amazing teacher and teachingUseful resource for the new learner. Easy to use and follow.Version: 3.1.13

Great appLove it.Version: 3.2.1

Good lessons with tips and encouragementFor my 400th birthday I had a guitar. Being a mum, an with a job etc I never got round to learning to play it. 30 years later, at lockdown, I thought I would finally try to learn I tried one app which was fastmoving but didn’t have the practice opportunities or the option to start slow and gradually speed up when doing the exercises/songs which this App has. Justin gives good coherent explanations and is very encouraging. Ironically, I seem to be learning more, more thoroughly with this app. Finally, it’s no chore. Doing the next stage or two, or practising previous ones is my most favourite thing of the day. For me, it is really good fun!.Version: 2.3.6

This one works!!I’ve tried a number of times to concentrate on guitar skills ... to move from strumming a couple of chords to really playing. In this off and on quest over many many years no method or course has worked for me until Justin’s. For me Justins course is an excellent mix of rigor and fun. Very quick to get me playing simple songs to break the monotony of practicing the basics. But the songs make me aware of the importance of the basics so this circular reinforcement keeps me interested and engaged. It is guiding me with strong foundation building but with plenty of motivational playing to keep me going. Early on finger pain is a problem... a big problem. Justin fully understands and carefully addresses it and adjusts for it in the exercises. I started with the old course on the web but soon switched to the new app. It is extremely well done and seems to me to really skillfully take full advantage of the web’s special potential for learning. This is a very special course and I highly recommend it. It’s been great for me during COVID time ... and beyond!! Great thanks to Justin..Version: 2.3.6

Wonderful appI have come back to playing after a while off, a smashed wrist and general frustration with playing, to the point of selling all my gear. I know, heinous right. Found new guitar and amp on a whim, and decided to start from scratch with Justin. My rhythm playing has always been rubbish, to say the least, so thought that I would concentrate on it. The app has been so helpful with changes, the chord perfect exercises, the songs etc. it’s all just wonderful, makes perfect sense to me. I thought the app price to be excellent. A subscription for less than a month’s tuition cost with a local guitar teacher, what’s not to love. Feeling more confident, after 10 days, than I had for a long time. Thanks Justin..Version: 3.1.10

Fab app!Loving Justin's teachings. Perfect for me as a total newbie. 5 stars for sure!.Version: 1.1.2

JustinGuitar lessons and appThis guy is terrific! His on line lessons are excellent- well paced and clear. Purchasing the app was a no-brainer!! It’s great for learning new songs as you progress through the lessons/modules. I’m only in my 3rd week of playing and I just love it. Thank you Justin!!.Version: 3.2.1

Way easier than YouTubeI have been using YouTube for years and it’s help my progress but left me with large gaps and bad habits. Justin’s app is really helping me to get my basics sorted and improve my playing. Very well put together learning app!.Version: 3.1.13

Lessons that are actually worth it!!Justinguitar is everything it promises to be. I’m an absolute beginner who can’t afford to do lessons right now, so I would have settled for something just alright, but this guy really delivers a full and well organized program FOR FREE. I’m learning so much, at my own pace, and the quick ability to learn songs is awesome!! I’ve been playing for two weeks and am already playing a song I love. (Blondie, The Tide is High.) When I get some money I will be SURE to help pay for what I’ve learned and make sure it stays for free. This is what the internet is all about, and I love justinguitar for contributing this immense and quality service to beginner guitarists everywhere. You rock!!!.Version: 2.1.0

66 year old beginnerWhen I first started looking on YouTube for guitar instruction for beginners I discovered Justin Guitar clips. After a couple of weeks of utilizing the free lessons, I decided to sign up for his guitar course for beginner guitarist. I find Justin’s lessons very thorough, easy to follow, a very personable person and enjoyable to watch. As a beginner, I enjoy his explanations in each lesson and his insight about practise and his left handed journey. Good job Justin..Version: 3.2.1

BrilliantI am 60 and tinkering around the edges of guitar playing for years, put off by a teacher 4 decades ago who said you’ll never play well. I always let this statement hold me back. Finding Justin and his methods is a complete revelation and I dutifully went back to the beginning and I am so glad I did, this method is brilliant allowing me to learn and actually play something. Even the dogs don’t howl anymore they actually enjoy sitting with me whilst I make music. I seriously can’t thank you enough I have peeked at some of the later lessons, I can’t wait for Pink Floyd and Neil Young songs imagine me playing those! so once again Thank You Justin.Version: 3.1.23

Fab-U-Lous App!!I love this app because Justin breaks down the steps to learning how to play the guitar in a way no other teacher does. He offers lessons that are challenging but in no way impossible and at a pace that’s easy to handle no matter what your schedule might be. I’m so grateful to him for developing this app, and for all the tips he offers newbies!.Version: 3.2.0

Complete Guitar Course at your own paceOMG! Words don’t do this app justice. It is everything you need to learn guitar from scratch. I’m 51 with no musical background and I was born without a rhythm bone anywhere in my body, and even I’m managing to learn some cords and basic strum patterns! Learning with Justin is so easy. I didn’t realise that this app also has a whole repertoire of songs included until I clicked on the guitar icon two weeks into using it - doh! Just the lessons section alone(mortarboard icon) has everything you need but having the songs in there too make it even more incredible value for money! Oh and don’t bother buying a tuner either - the app does that too! Simply awesome and I will happily rave about it all day long! Gotta go practice now though, so byeee! 👋.Version: 2.3.5

Ecosystem of Guitar LearningThis is a fantastic app that goes all in with the whole ecosystem of learning the guitar with Justin - when you take the free website along with the songs app, Time Trainer, One minute Chord changes and guitar fretboard note trainer you have the complete package of apps to help you learn the guitar over many styles at your own pace - then layout of the app is intuitive like the whole of Justin’s apps and website and you can slow down whilst learning the chords. The is a great selection of music/songs that you can pick from and these are being added to all the time. I would not hesitate in subscribing..Version: 3.1.13

Finally I feel like I might actually learn to play!Having tried to learn guitar a few times in my life, I’ve always given up. I recently dusted off my guitar and am so happy to have found Justin’s website and this app. The lessons are absolutely brilliant. I feel like if I persevere I might actually get there this time. I find Justin to be motivating and encouraging and everything is explained really well. Huge thanks to Justin. I am already playing a few chords and practising making them sound cleaner but this time I really want to keep going. Highly recommended..Version: 2.3.6

The best Guitar Course I’ve ever foundI began learning guitar at the age of 10. I’m 62 now. There were sometimes years (maybe decades) when I wasn’t playing guitar at all, and other times when I focused on various aspects like scales or fingerstyle playing. But I never really felt like I progressed in my overall guitar skills. I always fell into the classic “plateau” trap that so many of us fall into in our guitar journey. I’d pick up the guitar and not know what to practice at that moment. I didn’t have a structure or path to follow, so I’d play what was already familiar to me. I’d have a bit of fun, but I wasn’t moving forward. This JustinGuitar app is the first time I’ve ever felt like I’m developing well-rounded guitar skills. It’s a very structured, self-paced program. Highly recommend..Version: 3.1.18

Best way to start your guitar journey! This app is by far the best introduction to guitar I have ever seen. It takes you through all the important stuff that you need to know and gives you great practice tools to further develop your dexterity, playability and workmanship while still keeping practicing fun. Well done Justin..Version: 2.2.7

Fantastic app!Justin is a fabulous teacher! I love the app!!! I started playing last year at 54! Now, my husband and I play everyday together - he has been playing since a kid but loves playing the app songs with me. I never thought I could learn guitar but Justin’s teaching methods and style are just so great! Thank you! 👍👍👍😁😄😁.Version: 3.1.13

I love this app!I had a guitar for a year now but I didn’t know how to play it. So it sat in my closet I wanted to learn without spending money then I found this app☺️.Version: 3.6.1

Forward motionThe lessons just keep me going. I have played very basically for 50 years and never went forward now I feel it is finally happening. Thanks so much Justin..Version: 3.2.0

Best guitar training app in the storeI’ve tried them all, but no other app makes you feel the presence of a real guitar coach. Justin is great, gives the right level of reassurance to stop you from giving up, yet keeps things light and fun. This is the app for you if you’re serious about learning the guitar. And throw your money at it!.Version: 2.0.4

Superbe applicationJustin est un vrai pro!.Version: 3.2.1

Amazing beginner guitar teachingAbsolutely love this app. Everything is taught so well and easy to follow. I am a complete beginner and have been using this app for10 days and have already completed stage 3. The app makes you want to keep playing and Justin your tutor keeps encouraging you and tells you it’s ok to take your time and helps you stick with it. Listen to Justin, stick with the practicing and all of a sudden things start to fall in to place. I tried it for free and now I subscribe every month. It’s well worth the money. So much cheaper than an guitar tutor one on one lessons..Version: 2.3.5

AmazingI’m ADHD and I tried guitar 3 years ago but quit quickly as I didn’t really enjoy how I was learning it and found it hard to understand - it didn’t really grab my attention. Then I saw this app and was like, I could maybe give it another shot… OH MY GOSH YOU HAVE LITERALLY CHANGED MY LIFE!!! I struggle sometimes to stay focused but the way the lessons are set out are so quick and easy to understand- I was going between chords A and D on day one! I can’t thank you enough for what this app has done well done keep being amazing ✨✨✨✨.Version: 3.1.13

Awesome appGreat app.Version: 2.3.12

Best Guitar App EverJustin and his team crushed it with the app. I’ve improved so much..Version: 3.2.3

App RatingAdjusting guitar app is unbelievable and amazing. I’m just starting out as a left-handed guitar player and overtime. I learned right handed and felt like I plateaued. I’m excited to continue learning left-handed on my hundred dollar lefty ax from the pawn shop. Everything about the app is fantastic and easy to use. I can’t thank you enough for creating this amazing tool for learning guitar. I’ve been watching you Justin develop this tool for at least 10 years I bought your books early on but the development of your app and website is mind blowing. Check out Mighty Networks. It may be a good tool for use. For developing a subscription-based community. Just a little plug but I meant every word. Of what I just wrote. Peace, brother!🤙.Version: 3.4.5

Amazing update!I just updated and I am blown away! Amazing enhancements! I was so distracted by the quality of the songs that I struggled to play along at first. I have also had to relearn a couple of my favorite songs as they have changed chords to more closely replicate the original song. Three things I miss from the old app. 1) The interval beat/time trainer. I found that to be very helpful in learning timing and forcing me to get faster. 2) The ability to turn the strumming pattern on and off in a song. This was great as a beginner to hear what it is supposed to sound like. 3) I miss the fingerpicking tab too. I was just beginning to explore those. Thanks for a great training system! I literally strummed my first D chord on January 28, 2021 and I am confidently playing many open chord songs through level 8 and I’m working on power chords and barre chords. I also just finished the free portion of the music theory lessons and. I will be buying the rest of it. I never thought I would find music theory interesting, but as I see it’s useful application to playing and learning new songs I have to absorb as much as I can. Thank you again Justin!.Version: 3.1.3

Spot on Justin!I think that Justin's personality, it's amazing work during all this years, the experience he built and the work of his team to create this app as well as every single free video on YouTube helped so many people that would be pretty much impossible to estimate, maybe not all of those people ended up to play guitar on regular base, but I bet that everyone of them would be happy to say Thank you to this exceptional artist!.Version: 3.1.13

Love itJustin does it again, perfect accompaniment to his website and it’s great to have access to backing tracks you can slow down in one easy place to help practice chord changes and rhythm. Top marks as always. Suggestions for continued development would be having a way to design your own practice routine with the app with maybe the option to set timers (he is always tell us to set the timer!) and finding a way to record your progress with the advanced chord changes, appreciate there are too many to do them all but maybe a second customisable grid where u can choose which chord changes you want to be tracking could work? I could do most of the ones the grid records by the time I downloaded the app and it spurred me on to get the ones I couldn’t do yet but it’s harder to keep track of where you are at with advanced chords and I am rubbish with paper :-) Thanks again for all the hard work that gone into this app, defo recommend other give it a try x.Version: 2.0.2

Amazing appI love the app it was very easy for me you should try it out too.Version: 3.1.12

Perfect for the Way I LearnI’ve been looking for an app that allows me to play songs to music. Very guitar hero- like. The app is easy to use and looks as if tons of time and thought were put into it. The only complaint I have is that I started the lessons through the JustinGuitar website and there’s no way to link the app to my account on order to sync up where I left off on the website to the app. If there is, please let me know. Great app. Also, I paid for a year and work offshore quite a bit with limited or terrible internet. Any chance there’s a way to use it offline? If not, is that something that might be in the works. I get that if it’s a month to month, it might not be possible, but I think a year paid in advance would allow a function of offline use..Version: 3.1.3

Absolutely love itI’m now into my 2nd year of subscription and I love it. It has made my journey into learning guitar much more enjoyable. I think Justin has done a great job and the lessons are also free. So paying for the subscription was a no brainer, even if it is half as good as it is. The app has made it lot more convenient and fun to play. I have no hesitation recommending to others and get the joy of learning to play music, be happy and make others also happy. We need more love and less hate. I’m so glad that I found Justin’s website and later accidents the app. I encourage everyone who is considering learning to go for. I’m was over 55 yrs old when I started and was able to pick it up and have fun. So I think everyone can. Be Happy and make others Happy..Version: 2.2.5

Game changerUsing this app has made me feel like a real musician from the outset. As a complete beginner to guitar it’s been a game changer for me. Being able to play songs I love makes all the difference in keeping me motivated and the sense of achievement I get when I can finally play up to speed using only the click track is awesome. It has so many cool features, I particularly like the strumming exercises and use them a lot. I showed this to my nephew who’s been playing for over 30 years and he said he wished there had been something like this when he started learning. Give it a go you won’t regret it!🎸🎸.Version: 3.2.2

Just what I was looking for.I was looking for a systematic online guitar tutorial that I could do at my own pace, that teaches chords, strum patterns, and picking patterns, plus how to read tabs, how to play songs, and how to play with other musicians. This is it, and you can try it for free. This app gives you opportunities to practice the online lessons, or you could use the premium membership as a stand alone program. The free version includes a series of beginner lessons, guitar tuner, dozens of karaoke style practice songs, and a chord change practice page (how many chord changes can you do in a minute?) Certainly worth downloading, and worth paying for if you're serious. Much less costly than private lessons..Version: 2.2.7

Thought I was too old to learnPlaying the guitar has always been a dream of mine. Long story, goes a little something like this though: grew up busy with other things, work, wife+kids, oops I'm 40. Dagnabbit! Picked up my GSmini a few weeks ago and asked what literature to buy or how to get started. The salesman directed me to towards the internet and I came across Justin Guitar channel that evening. Started with his lessons right away. He is keeping his lessons as they should be (academically speaking), to the point, very relatable, and nothing mixed in with the subject of any particular lesson. He keeps focused on what he's trying to teach you. Makes learning fun, structured and easy (though I'm still just barely above the target 60 chord changes per minute). I enjoy the lessons and the challenges tremendously! I will see this course through until the it's end and will re-post another review..Version: 1.2.0

Thanks youI'm very happy to use this app I'm improvised very well 👍.Version: 2.3.6

Just Wow!I started playing with Friends when I was in the United States Navy in 1974. I am 66 years old now. They taught me cords only. We played songs like Cat Stevens, Simon & Garfunkel, Gordon Lightfoot, and so on. A friend of mine wanted to learn how to play Guitar, he told me about Justin’s Guitar App. Well since I started using the app, it’s just been Wow! Little did I know how little rhythm I had. I always finger picked and never knew how to use a pick. So going through all the modules I am learning how to use a pick and strumming patterns. OMG I need to practice a lot, lol. Thanks Justin for taking the time to learn left handed. I kinda feel like I’m playing left handed with my strumming patterns I have no rhythm. It could be I have little to no memory left. Trying to tap my heel to the down strokes was just like you were saying about tapping your head and circling your stomach. I love learning to your methods. I was in awe with your yearly fee to use your app with all the songs. I’m just looking forward to seeing how my guitar playing will change in 3-6 Months. Mr. Joe B. Sr..Version: 3.4.1

Awesome highly recommendAnyone looking to get into guitar or refine their skills definitely download this app!.Version: 2.3.1

GrrreatGreat for learning and getting off the ground. Just takes time..Version: 3.1.23

Back for moreI’m back for more because it’s fun and effective. Justin teaches in a deeply thought out way. It’s clear no one in the team have forgotten about the anxieties of learning guitar. My usual instrument is saxophone, with over twenty years & many gigs under my belt. I know the value & effect of face to face coaching. During lockdown I could not have had a tutor but the Justin Guitar approach has been just as effective at getting the foundation stones in place. The courses etc have got me good enough to sit in & play rhythm in the pub band, for open mic nights. Brilliant!.Version: 3.2.0

Wonderful resourceBoth of my sons learned how to play using Justin’s website. They are now accomplished musicians. During the pandemic I picked up this app for the same reason a prisoner takes up whittling. I had tried Yousician but found it too cluttered. Justin’s lessons are clean, brief and useful. The practice is well laid out. The songs are wonderful. It’s like you all snuck into my house and wrote down my favorite albums. My ONLY problem is counting the chord changes during the drills. I’m computer literate enough to know this can be done by the app. I expect it’ll be introduced on a future update... For now, I just take rough guesses. I want to thank Justin for what he did for my sons. I look forward to the day I can do a “sing song” with them. Peace! ADDENDUM: After using this app daily for more than a month (I’m working slowly on stage 7) I’ve found gaps in the lesson flow that have me repeatedly going to the website. This is frustrating because the website is free and this app is not. I gladly paid the reasonable subscription- if only as gratitude for the resource Justin provided for my sons, and the rest of humanity - but I imagine that would be irritating to someone who isn’t already a fan..Version: 2.3.6

Pleas give this a try be the best you can beThis is the most easy to follow guitar app to follow along with but it’s so much more then that all things worth learning we’ll take time and patience to do well so give your self a break take the pressure off your self and enjoy the journey you will get where you want to be if you put in the work but that’s the great thing about Justin course he never once makes it feel like work every lesson is so well shot and all severed up in bite size chunks so you never feel overwhelmed you just learn at your own pace pleas give this a try even if you have tried other courses Justin really has put so much hard work into this program and it shows whether your just starting your journey or been playing for years you will get so much out of this program the best advice I could give you is take your time there’s no rush and never practice your mistakes have fun and I wish you all well DONT FORGET TO HAVE FUN ;-).Version: 3.4.2

Justin is Amazing!A while back I decided to pick up a guitar and try to learn. I didn’t want to pay for in person classes and stumbled upon Justin Guitar and loved it immediately. Because I am impatient, I didn’t have much confidence in my ability to play and tried to cut corners, after about a year I got frustrated that I felt like I still didn’t know how to play as well as I wanted so I started paying for two different apps. The apps worked well but I felt like I was hitting a wall again so went back to Justin and honestly after going through most of the beginner course again (still working my way through it), I truly believe if I wasn’t impatient and actually listened to his guidance the first time through, I would have progressed much quicker..Version: 3.1.4

Brilliant appThis app is exactly what I need to learn the guitar. From the first lesson it is obvious that Justin has a world of experience teaching guitar. Everything is explained in the simple terms. The progress that is expected of a beginner is realistic. Do yourself a favour though and take your time with the app. Follow the stages step by step and although tempting to rush ahead, don’t go to the next stage until you are confident with your current stage. In my opinion this app is a bargain for the price! If people knew what they could learn from this they would be happy to pay much more!!.Version: 2.3.10

Awesome way to learn aloneI love using Justin guitar. I’m not confident with my singing voice so being able so sing along with the practice songs in the comfort of solitude is great. I’m practicing more than I expected. Its been great to be able to pick a lesson whenever it suits; at the start of my day after I get the children off to school, between tasks, and at the end of my day. I’ve found it’s an excellent way for me to release thoughts of the day. It’s pretty damn cool. I’m 41 btw; I thought I was a bit old to learn guitar and my fingers were too fat to get clear chord sounds, but Justin reassured me in the first lessons and now I believe him. It’s going great, great lessons, great app. I subscribed for the year and think it’s way better value than the private lessons I’m paying for my daughter, though she’s accountable to someone else which she needs..Version: 2.3.13

GuttedBecause I didn’t get it sooner.........this is the app that has been missing from my life. Been playing about 8 months and know a few of the basics…or so I thought. Justin puts you at ease from the very start and knows how to teach properly. He doesn’t rush you and you go at your own pace. I’m currently learning ALICE and am on verge of memorizing the whole song thanks to this amazing app. I honestly think you should get this app if you are a total beginner or even a few months in as it will help you progress quickly. Well done Justin, keep up the good work 😀.Version: 2.3.10

The Best Guitar lessons ever!At various times in my life I’ve tried to lean to play the instrument I love. From personal tuition to many other books recordings it’s a long list but Justin’s course is different. I can pick it up whenever I have time. I always feel I’m making progress no matter if I have to leave it for a while. It’s fun to learn and very quickly I have been playing along with a band with vocal backing which is great! So if you’ve been thinking about it and have been put off in the past, jump in and have a go! It’s never too late, I should know I’m 64! Sounds like a song I should learn!.Version: 3.1.11

6 months looking for the right solution, this one was finally it for me!I tried lessons at the music store first. My teacher was a washed out old rocker that was just "punching the clock" he was way too disorganized, and he was just a terrible teacher. Next, I tried a more expensive private teacher. He had passion and talent to spare, but he moved way too fast, and again was too unorganized for me. Third, I tried another on-line learning option, it was very expensive, the lessons were just okay, and once more it seemed to move too fast. Finally, my journey came to a successful end with Justin. This app turned out to be the absolute perfect solution for me. It's extremely well thought out and organized, and progresses at the perfect speed. The quality of the instruction in this app is better than what I received paying hundreds of dollars a month to local private teachers. Try this app! A+++ rating all the way, I don't know of a single thing I'd change to improve it!.Version: 1.1.9

THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER!It’s been less then a week and I have already learnt 3 chords and can play songs! Justin offers such an easy yet comprehensive way to learn guitar, suitable for any age! The way he explains things is so easy to follow, and the app includes so many extras. He even shows you HOW to practice and for how long, there’s tasks for each practice session. I honestly think this app is 100 times more valuable then any other learning path (including in person) then I’ve ever experienced. Thankyou so much for creating this amazing app justin! You rock!!!!!!.Version: 3.1.21

So much to learn, so little time!Great app, really nice guy, comprehensive coverage of subject matter. No excuse left, watch out world, here I come!.Version: 3.1.17

A late starterI can’t thank Justin enough. I’ve always thought of playing the guitar but didn’t pick one up till I was 50. Without Justin’s incredible way of teaching, I would have given up for sure. The Bite-sized training module is an amazing development, born from his experience and teaching skills. There’s rarely a day now that I don’t pick up the guitar to cover a new lesson. More importantly, it’s all coming together so well that I’m starting to l feel the music. A great feeling. Highly recommend the app. Thanks Justin for making this happen. Alan (UK).Version: 2.3.10

BEST BEGINNER GUITAR APP EVERYou can play along with songs within your first practice session, this is THAT good! Let’s you slow down songs to be as low as you need them to be, but allows you to still feel like you’re making progress. Just awesome..Version: 3.1.13

Outstanding app, love it!!Couldn’t learn guitar without juatin and this app, Way better than anything else I’ve seen or used. I absolutely love it..Version: 3.2.3

Chilled and encouragingI agent paid for any other apps and am no professional but have to admit I tried a few trials and ended up enjoying Justin the most. His take o lead I g guitar I exactly what I was looking for, encouraging stress free environment with challenges and Emi ser along the way. Justin talks about common errors and handy ways to think about playing that has really motivated and drove my progression forward. I highly recommend the full paid version and also try not be a rockstar by week three, listen to Justin, no pressure, be consistent an tam it slow. - it’s worming for me, yes it super tough but then try another cord or strumming pattern cause tomorrow afteryouve slept on it, surprisingly your fingers slow but surely learn faster on their own. Thank you Justin for all the effort you’ve put I tothe videos and the team that built your app- but really th videos are awsomeand believe in a umber of months when I reach the end o stage 9 I’ll have a decent understanding of guitar basics 🦾🪐😅.Version: 2.3.10

An amazing way to learn guitarThe backing music for hundreds of songs means you can start enjoying to learn by playing right from the start. Even if you are learning for fun and not to perform it is very satisfying to be playing music you love so quickly. So much better than sheet music..Version: 2.3.13

WonderfulLong-time noodler on the guitar in my late 50s. Didn’t get serious until I retired about 2 years ago. Spent a lot of time learning things at various internet sites and bought some guitar books but something was missing, and that was structure. Been watching Justin on and off for ten or twelve years and liked his delivery so I decided to give it a go. I’m on stage 4 now and have actually learned quite a bit. But the main thing so far is the structured practice! I have played more chords in the last week than in all my years leading up to this. I do all of the exercises whether I think I know them or not and my playing has improved. I look forward to learning new thins as I progress and getting lots of great practice! I couldn’t be more pleased..Version: 2.3.10

Great appProgressive learning, enjoyable, interactive..Version: 3.2.1

Finally a fantastic teacherAs a isolated Australian mum of four homeschooling children I had been wanting to learn the ukulele and guitar forever but ever had the time for lessons. We love over two hours from each town and so for us, what others find a quick easy tutorial by a physical teacher meant an all day round trip to town that was inconvenient and also exhausting. I found Justin’s guitar online and had been going through the lessons after using other programs that I found difficult and completely different every time you did something ( more suited to those that have or advanced in guitar). Justin’s guitar has helped me with the problem areas that I couldn’t find resources for online like strumming and finger positioning for a beginner. My four children are now utilising Justin’s guitar as part of their schooling to help them learn as well. Justin’s guitar has been a pleasure for this country girl to learn and although I am still a beginner in all aspects I am loving the online and now app program so that I can play for friends on “ happy hour fridays” in front of the fire. Thanks Justin’s guitar and app developers from a farming/ beekeeping family in rural Australia 🤠❤️ I will soon be able to play with confidence as will my children and husband..Version: 2.3.13

Justin is greatMany thanks to Justin. I started learning guitar 2 yrs ago one year with a guitar academy one to one which was very expensive. But after a yr was not really making much progress. Then I used a website which was pretty good and made some progress but still struggling. Then I purchased some Justin Guitar books and immediately started to make better progress. Now I am a subscriber and use Justin guitar beginners course and have made the best progress so far, it is excellent teaching method and I can’t thank Justin enough as I now believe tha I might be able to be a guitarist. What more can I say?😀 John L.Version: 2.2.7

Great AppReally like the way Justin teaches. The follow along practice routines are just what I was complaining the internet needed. The songs play along with adjustable tempo are so great for learning. Maybe something to add in the future might be what strumming patterns are best for particular songs. There are some songs I just get lost in. I took a break from the app while I practiced a bit due to the next skills jump being too much but I am back and ready to learn more..Version: 3.1.9

Justin guitarWow,wow, wow!,,, Excellent, just excellent! I’m going on 70 years old, never picked up a guitar in my life and I’m having a great time learning. Thanks so much..Version: 3.2.3

Meilleur app pour débutants à intermédiaire. On progresse à notre rythme et l’application est accessible à tous les genres de musique..Version: 3.2.3

Best way to learn to play!Been using the app since the beginning and love every minute I practice with all those amazing tracks. I’m in a virtual Band!.Version: 3.1.13

A must for beginner guitarists. This should be every beginners drop off point when wanting to learn the guitar. Justin’s step by step program is remarkably good, thoughtfully planned out and makes the journey of learning the guitar as easy as possible. His online material is huge just in case you want to take a tangent or two. Highly recommended!.Version: 2.2.5

Great app for beginners.I have recently retired at 64 and always wanted to play guitar, however a small business, kids and a wife kept me occupied for a number of years. I trawled through many sites and admittedly wasn't impressed by what I saw. Rushed videos without much explanation and poor information for those of us with fat fingers and poor dexterity. That was until I came across Justin, his teaching on various guitar exercises is second to none. I personally love the way he takes the time to show and guide you through finger placement for all the chords, and he makes it fun, especially with his videos on learning guitar left handed, even he struggled. Highly recommended. 🤟🎸🎸.Version: 3.1.12

You gotta love it!I picked up JG’s stuff during the original lockdown. I’d always noodled on the guitar but drifted off because there was no tangible improvement. Months later I’d pick it up again and the cycle would start over. This changed with Justin’s website and the App. It introduced structure and a baseline from which improvements could be measured. I now feel more motivated to pick up the guitar and more inspired to play. The App, with its play along songs, was awesome. It makes you feel like your playing music which is what this journey is all about isn’t it? The improvements on the new App are brilliant. The song database now contains professionally produced tracks to play along with and I regularly find myself rocking out to Imagine Dragons or AC/DC. Looks odd to my family as I tend to this using a headphone amp so all they can hear is the duff notes! If you’re into your guitar and want to improve then don’t hesitate. Justin is a fantastic teacher and has a natural, empathetic and warm personality that is easily conveyed despite the medium. There’s a ton of stuff on the App and website that would keep you engaged at any level for months. The pricing system is unbelievably fair and reasonable. In a world of morally bereft companies (and individuals) Justin is breath of fresh air. Anyway, ‘nuff from me. Sign up. Get practising. You will not be disappointed..Version: 3.1.2

49 yr old first timer.I’m a visual learner and I need things to be simple so whilst I won’t be booking Wembley stadium just yet for my first gig.what I can say is that Justin’s teaching style and visual aids are easy to follow and attractive to look at. Great stuff!.Version: 2.3.4

Love the AppLike a previous reviewer mentioned I started 12 months ago and quickly got the shape required for most of the chords. Easy to follow and understand. Great app trying to practice every day although that does not work every day. I am getting there so I will keep practicing. Alan Sweeney.Version: 2.2.5

Can’t get enough of this App.I have just started playing guitar and don’t have the ability to attend regular guitar lessons. This app, and Justin’s website are awesome. I am progressing well, just have to be careful not to over do it as I’m have so much fun with the songs. Just follow his instructions... to the letter... and you’ll be progressing well and having fun..Version: 2.2.2

Really great appI’ve been using this for the past 3/4 months now and I really like it. I’ve come a long way and it’s mostly thanks to this app. my one and only major suggestion - albeit one that is weird - is a request to have vocals for the tunes we play along to. I think it would really enhance the experience of the user and make playing along the songs that much more fun. It will also help us learn the songs faster if we can sing along to them — and what better way to learn the lyrics than hear someone sing it as we play. - Including little icons that tell us which chords make up each song would also be really helpful. That way, we can pick a song that has the chords we want to work on..Version: 2.3.6

Great but needs improvementOne of the issues is that the songs rhythms change, so you become out of time even though you’re actually playing in time. Another issue is that you cannot change the orientation when you’re playing songs. Also none of the riff practices are inside of the practice session. So you have to go into that video and play the whole video if you don’t have it memorized. This is very annoying. It would be nice if we could add some exercises from previous lessons to keep them moving forward. It would also be nice if there was either lessons, or a song option for the strumming method if you’re playing strums. On some songs you can hear the lead guitar playing they are picking stuff, but we have to go find the strumming pattern on Google to know how to play along with the song once we learn the single cord progression. Last it would be great if we had the option of original key vs current lessons key. I always put songs on my phone but they are totally dif key so I know later ill have to relearn them.Version: 3.1.17

Excellent app but issues with latest updateI’ve been enjoying this app for just over a year. Great lessons, great tools, helps the beginner guitarist immensely. I’ll mention that the song catalogue has changed recently but I believe that’s a copyright issue not a developer issue - it’s still a shame as some great songs were lost. The most recent update does have an issue with songs playing for about 20 seconds then stopping. Hopefully this can be remedied quickly. The app would have 5 stars but for the recent issue..Version: 3.4.4

Perfect Guitar AppLove, love, love it. Justin is an awesome teacher. Great songs! Easy to progress lessons for beginners. Other apps throw everything at you and its confusing where to start. Lots more content on the website. Is there a way to merge the app and the website progress? I sign in and track lessons on the website and different progress is tracked in the app. I understand the app has more songs and that’s what I’m paying for, but I wish I could track both together. I know its a big ask but it would make this app perfect! Or just roll all the website content into the app? Another big ask but thought I’d put it out there. Thanks for a great app from a great instructor..Version: 3.1.13

Justin’s AppThis app is the most inspiring thing I have discovered in my journey in learning to play guitar, which has been a long one! This has made me want to keep practicing, especially whole songs rather than just bits of them which is what I did in the past. The app works and it makes me feel like I am playing with a band and not just by myself. It also keeps me in time and gives me the chord if I lose it sometimes. It’s a good one Justin, thanks mate!.Version: 3.1.20

Great Source of LearningI’ve been using this app for a few months now, and it has been a reliable tool. The videos, exercises, and songs, have helped me make advancements in my playing I had not expected when I had picked the guitar back up. The app developers have done a good job with the making sure the app remains reliable. This all being said, the app is not the only part of the journey to be made. Justin’s website contains a lot of supplementary information, including newer lessons on the same subjects. Some would say those lessons makes these obsolete, but it is the exercises this app provides that makes it worth the month spent..Version: 2.3.4

Second to noneAlways wanted to play guitar and finally at a place in life where I have the time to dedicate to it and the means to buy the guitar I always wanted growing up, a Gibson Les Paul! After searching through TONS of online videos and apps I downloaded and started using Justin’s app. Although there are many online videos with good teachers breaking things down, Justin takes it so much further. He really makes learning guitar very simple, straight forward, and easy to understand. Then the lesson plans which follow give you the exercises necessary to perfect what you’ve just learned. But the best part is all the songs he pairs with each stage allowing you to use what you’ve just learned and play the songs you love. Due to how well the app is designed, the pace I’ve been able to learn the guitar due to how well Justin teaches, and the catalogue of songs included in the app to play along with, I spend an average of 2-3 hours a day learning, practicing and playing songs. Although there is a lot of good content online, nothing comes close to teaching guitar as well as Justin. Can’t thank him enough. It’s a tremendous feeling to be able to sit down and play songs you love for hours..Version: 2.2.6

Justin GuitarI’m currently following the beginners guitar lesson on Justin’s website, being able to link those lessons with this app allows me to find songs that I can directly relate to. A real bonus to those lessons and it allows me to look forward to tracks I can play in the future by selecting the chords I can play. So you have to pay for it but it works out at around £1.20 a week, it’s less than a cup of coffee as everyone keeps telling us on the telly. Plus it’s caffeine free and much better for the environment.(Probably).Version: 2.3.5

Love Justin’s teaching style. This isn’t the first online lessons I’ve tried. I got distracted and lost interest fairly quickly with the first one - I accidentally found Justin’s beginner course. The app is very easy to use and I can go back to a lesson if I need to at any time. I understand the content and it gives me the confidants to push forward. I don’t get bored or distracted at all. The practice sessions between modules are structured really well on the app. I’d recommend this to anyone of any age. - I’m 53 and I learned piano when I was young, but you could easily learn from Justin with no music knowledge at all. The price of the beginner’s course is insignificant compared with what you get from it..Version: 3.3.0

Great app for absolute beginners.Doesn’t assume you already know the fundamental basics. It’s broken down into small, digestible segments, that are easily understood. Go at you own pace. Great practice sessions. The song choices are actually songs you know; with strumming patterns and finger placements animations, to help keep you on track. Highly recommended.Version: 3.4.2

Best music companion on your guitar journeyI am on Justin’s course, which is just awesome to learn guitar and music in general. However being on my own, I have sometimes found it hard to find motivation to pick up the guitar. It was also hard to play a song all the way through and in the right tempo without a visual or sound aid. This is where the app has filled that big gap. Try it for a week for free, you will really love it..Version: 3.1.19

Best way to learn guitarI’ve been using Justin’s app and website course for a couple of months now and I’m absolutely delighted how much progress I’ve made by following along. From complete noob to able to play a few songs is massively rewarding. Justin is an incredible teacher and this app really helps especially playing along to the songs, even when you slow the temp right down to a manageable level to play along with at first attempt and it sounds not half bad. Big thumbs up and highly recommended for any aspiring beginner guitarist..Version: 2.3.12

Justin Guitar song bookAbsolutely loved it. Nearly finished the course, it has simple instructions, and you can go as fast or slow as you like. On my 4th month, and while my changes are not the best I have learned heaps. Practice seems to be the most important core tenant, and this app has helped so much, making it mso re enjoyable..Version: 2.3.6

Outstanding!I love the steady progression of lessons - each one gradually building on skills. The pacing is quite good, too. My favorite feature is the interactivity build in to practice and monitor skills. This is not just a series of video lessons - although the videos are very high quality. You periodically need to play along with backing tracks, select new songs to learn as you learn additional chords, work on skills such as smoothly changing chords, etc. while keeping track of progress. The interface for playing songs is helpful - showing chords diagrams and lyrics in time with the music. Each song can be played at regular or slower speeds depending on your skill level. I could go on and on about how well-designed this app is. If you are a beginner, like I am, I don’t think you will be disappointed in this app. Highly recommended! His excellent website is well worth checking out, too..Version: 2.3.10

Great appYou can’t go wrong with this awesome app. I have never been able to play so many songs before ever. Even my wife made a comment that my guitar playing is on point. Justin teacher and explaining is second to none. Keep up the great work and money well spent 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.Version: 3.1.15

Fun and friendly fundamentalsThe Justin vibe is just good good good for beginning guitar players. It ain’t easy. He encourages us all so well, while also really working hard to find arrangements for pop songs that put them in our reach as beginners. No one does this better imho. That’s Justin—just get on with songs, sneak in fundamentals as they’re needed save foe the super important ones. Then drill them hard. This app is not uberchord-it is not a robot that listens and changes the game to match you. It teaches you how to teach yourself new skills a bit more old school—“here are all the possible chord changes so let’s knock em out and cross them off”. Rather than a robot guiding you it’s your conscience asJustin implores you to count fairly but it’s self assess required only to move on. The songs—the list and variety of simple songs here is incredible. Great backing tracks. Do it! And do the online course!.Version: 2.3.7

Great way to learnI am an absolute beginner. At least, I was when I started with this course, but I can now play many songs with ease and continue to progress. The app is organized really well. There are too many songs to count and the app allows you to slow them down to make learning easier. Don’t be afraid to slow a song down. Even the greats do this to learn new material. One thing I don’t like is not having the ability to adjust the volume of the songs. I’m using an Xsonic Xtone and Tonebridge. The problem is, as I adjust the volume of my guitar up, it starts to distort. But I have to increase the volume of the guitar to cut through the instruments in the songs. I’d prefer to lower the volume of the music..Version: 2.3.6

Not perfect …but one of the best out thereLots of thought goes into developing these lessons. Always making improvements.Version: 3.1.19

0 to guitar heroThis is a great app! Justin breaks each skill down into really easy to grasp bite size concepts and has fun interactive ways to practice and make you want to keep coming back. I had never learned to play a guitar before getting this app and (after 4 days) can confidently play 3 chords with minimal stuff up between chord changes in the beats! Thanks Justin!!.Version: 2.2.3

Loving it so farNever ever played a guitar in my life. Justin is so methodical in his lessons and also he knows you’re human. So I’m feeling fine making little mistakes. Cheers, Justin.Version: 3.1.12

BEST TEACHER! LOOK ON YOUTUBEBest APP FOR GUITAR HANDS DOWN! It’s so easy to learn how to play a song. The interface is super helpful and you slow it down. The song chords come up with finger placement and to the beat! As a person you just started learning how to play the guitar. This is the best teacher because he will show you hacks to the chords! I found very useful as a first timer to be like NO WAY I JUST PLAYED A G CHOARD AND IT SOUNDED THAT NICE!!! Seriously THANK YOU JUSTIN GUITAR! I found you on YouTube and been scrolling one video at a time to get or practice and seen the app!!👍 but the video was 1 year old . The app works great in 2023!.Version: 3.4.2

Justin Guitar AppGreat tool once you get use to the features. It will certainly help you with improving your chord changes and keeping in time. Some of the suggested strumming patterns are boring, but of course you don’t have to follow what is shown. Hopefully future updates might provide a number of strumming options for each song, rather than simply showing “old faithful” which seems to pop up regularly. Lots of songs to choose from, so well worth the subscription fee..Version: 3.2.0

AMAZING COURSES!!I can’t believe how fabulous Justin’s courses are. I have had lessons on and off over the past 50 years!! I got ‘pretty’ good at it, so decided I’d ‘have a look’ at the beginners course, but then buy the intermediate. WELL!! I realised I had many ‘gaps’. Having played mostly for the primary kids at school and not much else for the past 30 years or so, I realised I was in a real rut, so I stuck with the beginners. It’s been great flying through some lessons, but then finding something I’ve missed in my learning. Was the best retirement gift for myself. Also fabulous during lockdown in Sydney! I have learned soooo much doing the beginners course and enjoyed the theory behind it, so purchased the theory course as well. Again, stuff I know but plenty I don’t! Justin is really easy to follow and was made for teaching. Many of my guitar teachers showed me fancy stuff but didn’t really teach me the ‘why’, which I think is really important! Or if they tried, my brain just couldn’t take it, so the beauty of these courses is that you can go at your own pace and repeat lessons. This 62 yr old brain loves that! Thank you for making me enjoy playing my guitar once more, Justin! I’d tried some YouTube’s, but they just didn’t get me going. Love waking up each day to learn and/or practice. Oh, and I forgot to say… value for money!! I probably would have only had around 4 lessons face to face for what I paid for this course. Winning!!.Version: 3.1.1

So far so goodGreat app for beginner.Version: 3.1.22

That’s OK!Justin is exactly what you need in a guitar teacher. He’s a professional BUT teaches as if he started playing last week. He knows all the correct things to say so you don’t give up. That’s OK, is his favorite come back when something goes sideways. It’s like he’s sitting next to me as I’m learning and commenting on my struggles and telling me "that’s ok" don’t give up all beginners struggle with that. I watch each lesson several times so I can hear his encouragement until I get better at whatever skill he is teaching. The 1 min exercises are great since I write down my progress and see each time the number increases. Never wrote an app review before but had to give kudos to Justin for his amazing teaching style and spreading out the learning so you don’t get overwhelmed. Justin is a ROCK STAR! I know that this time guitar lessons will stick and by year end I’ll be feeling like I can tell people, yes, I do play guitar, and prove it..Version: 3.1.12

Great easy to follow appSuper easy to follow, great lessons in a logical order. Lots of resources, the play along section is gold..Version: 2.3.12

Great AppApp costs a subscription, but when you look at the fact that all his lessons online for free. The app goes above and beyond. Highly recommended.Version: 3.8.2

I try other YouTube guitar lessons but keep coming back to JustinI have watched Justin’s guitar lessons for several years now and always find that he teaches great songs with lots of variety. He has helped me so much on my guitar journey.Version: 3.2.3

EasyThis app is truly amazing. Please quite easy to use, and very easy to learn from..Version: 3.4.2

Excellent but with a couple issuesOverall, the Justin method is a great way to learn guitar and Justin is a gifted teacher. This app really helps get you going on a logical progression for beginners. I have used it for stages 1-5 so far and am very pleased. Playing along with the songs and tracking for your chord change speeds is really great. However, I only gave four stars because there are a few inconsistencies, ie the video on blues shuffle refers to the triplets video that is not on the app (but is on the website) and there is an exercise for ‘old faithful’ but no intro lesson video for it. When I encountered these inconsistencies, I went over to the website and realized I’d been missing a whole lot more content such as the ear training and all the written commentary and practice schedules. Truly, the free website is the best place to drive your progression, not the paid app. What the app provides though, which is totally worth the money, are the songs you can slow down and play along with. So get this app and use it just for those functions!.Version: 2.2.3

Easy to use - brilliantSo easy to use, so many ways to learn songs and app always being improved. Love it.Version: 3.2.3

Thanks JustinThis is a great tool for learning.Version: 3.2.3

JustinGuitar Takes You to a Higher LevelBeing stuck at home because of the pandemic, I started looking for apps to help me take another stab at learning guitar. It was very confusing and potentially very expensive. Most of the apps made great claims about their teaching abilities but allowed me very little access to their content before hitting me up for money. I’m perfectly willing to pay a fair price to have an expert teach me, but I wasn’t willing to take a leap of faith before I knew if the app worked well for me. This app by contrast, allows you to try a bunch of lessons before making a decision to pay. Justin is a marvelous teacher who is clear and concise and has a great eye for important details. I am learning fast and very much enjoying the journey..Version: 2.3.5

Another beginnerAs a beginner in my 60’s I find the content great and Justin’s teaching style is so good. One slight annoyance with the app, it has started to default to the 7 day free trial screens at start up even though I have subscribed for 12 months. Is this part of a recent update as it’s just started happening? Be great if it could be remedied. Response received from the developer that this will be resolved at the next update. Thank you so much for the quick response. Very much appreciated!.Version: 3.1.23

Best I’ve found.Justin’s materials are organized in a great way, he’s got the right amount of personality. He gives 100% of the lessons away on his site and just asks for donations. I have a ton of respect for that. The things the app adds on top of that: 1. A tuner I actually like more than the stand alone tuning apps I’ve downloaded (free) 2. The song practice interface that’s the same as four chords, but the songs are organized by what you’ve learned so far. That’s extremely helpful. 3. The chord change practice tool. It’s easy enough to replace with a pen and paper but the app keeps me honest and it’s nice to have the timer and metronome, and fingerings ready there when it’s time to run through them. The app probably has limited mileage, it seems built to be outgrown, I’ve used it about an hour a day for 2 months, I think maybe I have another 2 or 3 months left before I won’t be getting my money’s worth. At that point I’ll probably cancel and switch to donating on the site. Honestly this has been more useful to me than local lessons. Thanks for the hard work on the app guys. And thanks Justin for open sourcing your lessons!.Version: 2.2.5

This is a great way to learn to playI really like the pace of learning in the app. I like it so much better than when I took lessons years ago. I am going to stick with it this time!.Version: 2.2.6

The most fun I’ve had in agesI’ve been using this app for about a month and I can already play a lot of chords more or less confidently. It’s the first time I try to learn the guitar. The best thing about this app is how it’s structured to let you have fun while you’re learning and practicing chords. I’m using another famous app to learn how to sing, but comparatively the material in this app is much better - you get popular songs, even if simplified, right from the first stages, and it really keeps you going. I look forward to the end of my shift at work to do my daily practice every day. 🥰 Thank you Justin!.Version: 2.3.11

Enjoying the app.Relearning after many years! Good experience..Version: 3.1.23

AwesomeJustin Guitar is just great. I’ve been wanting to learn guitar for ages and this program has really helped. The lessons are good and it’s awesome to have so many cool songs to play along to.Version: 2.1.0

TunedCan’t possibly get better, A+.Version: 3.7.1

Excellent guitar app for beginners!Have played for 2 1/2 years using many online programs but hit the dreaded plateau and lost interest. Decided to start over using Justin. Found it different. More organized with more material suited to my needs. Enthusiasm has returned. Loving the guitar again..Version: 3.2.2

Good ground work - progressI’ve been playing for a while on and off, learning off you tube. Watching all the mistakes beginners supposedly make, consistently I come back to Justin Guitar, just for his take. He explains things, which I prefer rather than monkey see monkey do. The app is much better - mainly for me cause of the structured practice, which is definitely more than I was doing. I was pretty lost with exactly what to practice, how long for, what to aim for. I hated the 1 min finger changes at first, but he’s right now I’m much faster and more accurate. My finger placement, and so many other things it’s good to have the ground work. I may as well learn properly if I’m going to put the time into it and this app is like real lessons, it has that vibe and not some dodgy u-tube (no offence, love all those guys out there having a go)..Version: 3.1.23

Great guitar lessonsI played sporadically about 20 years ago, basic chords and minor chords but never progressed very far. I am all enthused to learn again and have already progressed past the beginners stage. Jason’s lessons are at your own pace and there are activities and challenges that keep me entertained while I strengthen my hands and also develop the muscle memory in my fingers to become a guitarist. Also fantastic song choices and set up by Jason..Version: 2.3.5

Second only to private lessons with Justin!Actually, the advantage over private lessons, is the flexibility schedule. But this is an advantage of any guitar learning apps. So what sets Justin Guitar apart? Many things! The course is exceptionally well crafted and organized, to keep even the easily distracted and disorganized (yes, that’s me!) on track, engaged and most importantly, having fun. I have started many guitar courses over the years, from many different teachers, with many different styles. But I always eventually lost interest. Through Justin’s beginner course app, with its step by step flow and supporting tools and songs, I’ve finally managed to keep it up and progress further than ever before. Thank you Justin!.Version: 2.3.12

Fantastic resourceI found Justin online and was using it for 6 months, and found it very useful (and free, with the option to pay which I did). I was waiting for the App to be updated as it seemed there were some differences with the online facility. I then bought the App (cost of 2 personal lessons, for a whole year) and I love it. It introduces discipline and the course is very well structured. Justin is a fantastic teacher, and a decent bloke (Australian of course) who is very generous and I am very happy to do my bit to ensure his continued success. Highly recommended..Version: 2.3.10

Beginner lesson packageI've been "playing" so to speak for over two years with minor progress mostly because I haven't found an online lesson package that motivated me. Justin's is different! I have made more progress in a couple of weeks than I have previously mainly because it has motivated me. The format is the best I've seen!.Version: 3.1.12

So far so good .Use to play many years ago about 40 to be exact . Coved started and I had retired before that and put learn guitar on bucket list . Discovered your app for free started and have enjoyed lots . My goal is to learn to play Simon and Garfunkel tunes , and Clapton , Jim Crocia for starters.Version: 3.2.2

I like itI’m still in my trial week but I like it. I’m pretty new at the guitar. I tried another app, Gibson, but quit after a few months. I didn’t like how the Gibson app felt like a video game and I didn’t feel like I learned how to play music outside the app. It kind of stressed me out too. I currently have both a guitar teacher and also use Justin’s app. I like how he has informative short videos and is kind and encouraging. There’s a lot of rote work with some fun things that sound good to keep me going. The practice songs tie into the lessons and are challenging enough. I plan on signing up. My real life teacher gives me more accountability, can answer my questions, and is quite nice but more expensive. I hope get the best of both worlds by using the app and having a live teacher..Version: 3.1.19

Online guitar guruI’m really enjoying the structure of Justin’s program. It allows you to learn at your own pace and has brought me from total idiot to playing chords with songs I know and like in a fairly short timeframe. I never thought I would get anywhere with guitar but Justin’s app is awesome..Version: 2.2.6

Making good progressJustin is my tutor but he is also a friendly encourager who is honest. The speed of progress is always going to be down to how much practice I put in. To begin with its slow as my fingers get used to pressing metal strings on to the fretboard. The steps are simple which is what I need as a beginner. The speed tests are really helpful but best is playing along with the songs. Thank you very much Justin. I’m enjoying this and looking forward to being able to spend more time on my guitar..Version: 2.3.10

ReviewIt’s a great time and had gotten me to pick up my guitar and actually try to play it !!.Version: 2.3.5

A new startI can’t even begin to say how this app has transformed my guitar playing. I could play several chords before and could make reasonable chord changes, but felt I was not progressing fast enough. This app has changed all that. I have become lost in my learning journey and the hours tick by, I am literally so engrossed. If you want to kick start your guitar, playing I cannot recommend this app enough. Thank you Justin and the team behind it. Fantastic, worth every penny..Version: 2.3.10

Justin’s pocket tutorials have answered all my questions so far!Had many false starts at learning guitar including 12 months on a highly recommended alternative site. That was OK but a bit stuffy, Justin’s cheery manner and well aimed, specific and detailed tuts are much more uplifting. Always comforting to be told that everyone gets frustrated by the same things as I do. Made more progress in 2 weeks than all of last year. Song play along guided by big coloured circles works great..Version: 2.3.13

Learning guitar later in lifeI have wanted to learn to play guitar all my life after being the vocalist in a rock band in my late teens. I tried to learn back then but no joy. I saw Justin’s course on the internet and decided to give it a go. Justin is the best- gets the tone spot on for every lesson , his love of music and teaching guitar shines through. Since July I have practiced every single night using Justin’s practice tool which is fantastic and can be adapted for your own targets and goals. His lessons on songs is brilliant and good to follow. I can now play several songs thanks to Justin’s easy to way of teaching explaining everything so clearly. Have recommended Justin’s course to several people. I’m in my sixties and have found a massive new motivation to play guitar thanks to Justin.Version: 2.3.6

Justin guitarSo far i am very pleased with it..Version: 3.2.1

Learning to play GuitarI played a few songs in my early teens. Put it away for 40ish years. Now trying to learn to play the guitar. Playing the instrument and learning a couple of songs are very different things. Starting from the beginning in the course. Enjoying it..Version: 3.2.1

Great way to learn guitarMy wife and I use this app and we love it and we love Justin’s teaching style. Definitely recommend it. It would be great if the app could have an option to load to social media that Tom completed beginner guitar module x practise today and played along to x and y songs..Version: 3.7.0

My go to place to brush up my skills.Justin’s app is the perfect place to practise everything from chord changes to strum patterns, finger picking to to flat-picking a melody. The huge number of accurate songs is a great resource too. I start with a simple down strum to learn the chords and changes, then the pick/strum pattern, then put it all together. On average this halves the amount of time I need to lean a new song. There’s a great assortment of rock classics, this along with some of the best ballads & plenty of Australian music makes this app indescribable for me. It takes me about 3 months to get through the whole program now, when o get to the end I rest all my goals and run through again, learning different songs. ThanK Musotopia, and most importantly thanks Justin. This app makes structured practise so much easier, more fun, & rewarding..Version: 2.2.17

Excellent- like having an actual teacherHaving noodled around for years learning a chord here and a riff there (the you tube method), I decided I really wanted to learn the guitar from the ground up. Where I live, and hour private lesson is about $72 - the introductory cost of this app is about the same for probably at least a years worth of truly structured learning by a person who knows how to teach. I started from the very beginning and even learned things I’d missed like the importance of proper posture that’s already made a world of difference. If you’d actually like to learn guitar and are serious (even though Justin keeps it fun), get the app!.Version: 3.1.20

Best virtual beginner system out thereLike many folks during this pandemic, I decided to learn to play guitar, so bought my first guitar in August and have worked my way through a few different online beginner systems, with varied success. I’m not sure where, but I came across Justin’s free videos and was immediately impressed. It only took me about a week to decide I was all in: I purchased this app, Justin’s beginner books, and have diligently followed along ever since. I’m now on stage 8, and put all the other Justin songbooks on my Christmas wish list. Needless to say I cancelled all the other learning systems and will stick with Justin from here on out. By far the BEST online system out there. (Btw I am a lefty with a lefty guitar, and have no problem following along, just transpose everything.).Version: 2.3.7

Beginner Guitar CourseI can honestly say that Justin is a very good teacher. This is my first time picking up a guitar and I chose Justin because I heard great things about his lessons from an experienced guitar player. He doesn’t disappoint. I am loving the course, learning quite comfortably, and could not be happier that I chose Justin to teach me on this new guitar adventure. 👍👍👍👍👍.Version: 3.1.13

Makes me excited to pick up the guitarThis app works so well in making the early stages of learning guitar fun and has you eager to pick up the guitar. The courses are all included in the app and there’s a huge selection of classic songs that you can start strumming to straight away..Version: 2.3.1

Great siteI just picked up a guitar 2 weeks ago and have been following along with the app. I find it very well laid out and easy to learn. I can see major progress already in 2 short weeks as I follow along and listen to the advice given. Great job..Version: 2.3.12

Best guitar appIf you want to learn guitar, Justin guitar is the best way by a long shot. Great app, easy to use, fantastic..Version: 1.0.3

Best guitar lessons aroundI’ve been playing off and on for years, but never felt fully comfortable as a player and could not understand why. I started these lessons from the beginning as if I was a new player and by lesson 5 my confidence has skyrocketed. This course is extremely thorough and Justin covers everything in detail and doesn’t allow you to progress unless you have watched every video in the section. I have learned that I had previously greatly ignored strumming practice and the one minute chord change practices are brilliant. Highly recommend to any level player if you feel you have been left behind at intermediate or beginner levels..Version: 3.1.11

Highly recommendedI’ve tried a few different apps now and have settled on JustinGuitar. It’s well structured and gets you playing songs almost immediately. This builds your confidence and makes the learning process more fun. Highly recommended.Version: 2.3.11

FinallyHave been on and off guitar for 10 plus years, never really getting all of it. Have learnt more in two weeks on the app than 10 years on books. Cheers Justin.Version: 3.1.5

AmazingThis app is so perfect! I started from the beginning to refresh myself, and learned things that just made playing the guitar so much easier!.Version: 3.3.0

BeginnerJustin thanks so much, I’m really enjoying using this app, you explain this so well and there is so much informative information both within the app and on your website, that keeps me wanting more.Version: 3.1.11

Justin rocks! If you never ever played a guitar, this is great for you to start. Justin is great at explaining everything and making it as simple as possible for you to understand. The app itself is easy to use. I am on my second month playing the electric guitar and I can see how I’ve been improving..Version: 3.2.3

THANK YOU JUSTIN. But an app issueI want to start by thanking Justin so much. He single handedly taught me how to play guitar and I’ve been playing for a whole year now and guitar abs opened up a lot of opportunists for me. For free. And for many others, absolutely nothing I can do to express how thankful I am. However, I don’t like this app much because there’s only 2 modules, and I can’t log in (which I payed the $10 subscription for and wanted a mobile experience without having to go to the website) I wish this app you could log in to your account like on the desktop website and continue to music theory course or others TL:DR: JUSTIN IS The BEST GUITAR TEACHER ever and a genuinely amazing human being. I wish you could log into the app and confine desktop progress especially as I’ve already payed $10 for the subscription. Thanks!.Version: 3.1.13

Justin Guitar 🙏So far it’s been an excellent tool for a “mature aged student”. After searching for a suitable way to learn remotely and without the expense of one on one tuition, I came across Justins’ app. After agreeing to the 7 day trial, I’m convinced it’s one of the best ways to learn. The in-app videos and the way the lessons are layed out are brilliant. Apart from screaming fingertips, I couldn’t recommend this app highly enough. Well done Justin on an amazing app. Your understanding of what it’s like to be a beginner is evident and much appreciated! Cheers 🍺.Version: 2.3.6

Nikolai Ishvalda The Great Notorious AnunakiAt first I wasn’t sure what to think about the app, the more I watched the lesson each video has to show , I was absolutely flabbergasted,it was all broken down very simply indeed. Also explaining how the app helps you tune your guitar, you can hear the perfect equilibrium within the cords , has you try to balance out for the right optimal frequency ❤️🙌 I personally rate this 10/10 and that’s a rare cosmic rating from me , I’m known for rating everything from all 9 realms of endeavour. So trust me when I say ,this app is truely blessed with the whole 9!.Version: 3.6.1

Absolutely the best; it’s all you need!I’m constantly amazed at how much Justin cares about teaching, and his attention to detail, and his genius for constructing a mind-blowingly comprehensive (and never dull) series of courses that walks through from complete beginner to serious advanced. Yes, a lot of teachers out there care, but Justin both cares and is a great teacher. As for comprehensive, he even produces short videos on countless small tangent areas that you’ll suddenly find yourself wanting to know about and then discovering that, yes, Justin has a video on that subject too (seriously, where else will you find a video about using loop pedals in an essential online lesson site?). If it’s guitar, Justin’s probably covered it and done a great job. Then there’s the value factor. You can’t beat it..Version: 2.2.7

Amazing AppTruly an amazing app! Thank you to Justin and the developers with keeping this app current..Version: 3.7.0

Super easy to understandWell I am 63 never picked up a guitar ever. I do know how to play Ukuelele but struggle with timing, and understanding the music. Until I ‘discovered’ my Aussie ‘mate’ Justin. Clear concise fun easy to follow understand and the app super duper simple too. Ok I am an Aussie so the accent helps me feel super comfy as well. Not quite 3 weeks into the app and I am up to 11 chords. My husband plays guitar and now is learning bass he is 70. We are jamming together. Ok I admit I am a legend in my own lifetime. Justin just gives me confidence. Thanks Mate..Version: 3.1.13

A great beginner appAs an absolute beginner six months ago I started with this App. The course is simple to follow and has a great way of getting you into practice. I have a very long way to go but I am really enjoying the journey with this app. I highly recommend to beginners, it has a good balance of tuition and practical exercises. You are playing chords almost immediately..Version: 2.2.2

Amazing Guitar AppI only picked up my guitar for my 56th birthday after years of putting it off, no experience with any musical instruments since 7th grade at school. I checked out loads of apps and YT videos and after wading through a proverbial minefield I came across this app and Justin’s YT channel. Love the content and the way it is laid out, easy to understand and not rushed in any way shape or form, and most of all, it’s fun. Never met Justin or his team but feel like I know them all. Signed up on his website and enjoy the community over there, such a wealth of knowledge with some amazing people. By far the best app and site out there for beginners and professional players alike. My only regret….. I didn’t start sooner.Version: 3.2.3

Claudine’s reviewI did a little research for on-line guitar lessons etc, this was the one I liked most on first impressions. I am so please that I made that decision. Justin’s stages are very easy to follow and understand. 2 weeks in and I’m playing a couple of songs (badly) but i am playing them and that really gives you the boost you need to continue. Nothing boring about Justin’s Guitar, I can’t wait to do my 30 min daily lesson and practice . I would thoroughly recommend. Thank you Justin, I’ve been talking about doing this for years. Claudie xx.Version: 2.3.7

Great appJustin is fantastic! The lessons are clear and fun to follow, and I’ll be renewing my subscription at the end of this one. Unfortunately though, I can’t use it without the internet, so learning in the backwoods is impossible..Version: 3.2.6

Amazing !!Justin is a brilliant teacher, he explains everything slowly and clearly, video quality is amazing and his beginner courses are incredibly well structured- you make amazing progress without it feeling to daunting or overwhelming, Justin is the reason I have stuck with guitar and I would never have been able to have learnt without him as I can’t afford lessons, he such amazing amazing guy and this soo is exactly the kind of quality I would expect from him, no complaints here..Version: 3.1.2

Great was to progress as guitaristI’ve been following the learning path on this for a few months now, and loving it! Love being able to apply a capo and get the backing track/song to where I can sing along. And I love even more the ability to slow down the backing track so I can keep up with the chord changes! (The Passenger by Iggy Pop: I’m looking at you.) One thing I wish was a bit clearer is that it appears to be a companion to the website, not completely standalone. So in some of the lessons in the app there are references to things that you should have seen, but hasn’t been covered yet—it’s most likely covered in one of the website lessons. It’s possible that this is a simple omission and has been fixed since I wrote them about it. The main annoyance for me with this app is that the menu that pops up for you to rate how you played a song sometimes doesn’t pop up before the next song starts, so the rating ends up being attached to the wrong song! Also would have been nice to be able to *not* submit a rating, if you’re only demoing the app to friends and playing a few seconds, for example....Version: 2.1.0

Learning to flyI love this app, along with all the literature I’ve got from Justin Guitar and the online learning experience, I’m picking up my rhythm skills to a level I thought I wouldn’t be at yet... Nearly 2 years in and I’ve lost no motivation to keep on learning..Version: 3.1.13

Great for people who think they don’t have time to learn guitarI’ve always wanted to learn the guitar. I live out in the country, I work and I’m a mother. I wouldn’t have the time or money to do music lessons for myself right now. However, I stumbled on this app. Justin is SO encouraging and his lessons are short and palpable. He makes me feel confidence to keep coming back to the app and to just give it 10-20 minutes a day. I refer to him by first name when talking to my family member who is a guitar person. It’s kind of a joke now. But truthfully, he feels like a friend who genuinely wants me to do well. I’m so very grateful Justin put his expertise out into the world. Thank you!!!!.Version: 3.3.0

Great way to learn guitar.I’ve used Justin’s free lessons and this app makes his method even better. The app gives you structure and includes a heap of songs to play along with. Unfortunately the songs sound like terrible karaoke tracks, but they serve their purpose. Recommended..Version: 2.3.6

Absolutely amazing app .. brilliant tutorials ... Best guitar training app ...I am 38 years old and until last week I had never held a guitar. But I was so inspired by the level 3 students performance last Wednesday lunch time at the college where I'm a student doing commercial music diploma and I'd always wanted to learn the guitar .. after trying lots of "professional" guitar apps for beginners I came across Justin's app and it is the best of all.. I have been using it since Sunday and I can play 3 chords already and nearly up to scratch on changing chords cleanly and on time...Version: 2.2.21

Great appBeen at it a couple of months and I really like the app. I love that the teaching videos are all available for free, and that’s how I started, but the built in records of progress on things and the songbook really achieve their aim. The core philosophy seems to be “anyone can learn guitar as long as they don’t give up, so it’s all about making it fun and keeping you motivated”. Works for me. Justin also explains things really well. He doesn’t force you to do things his way but explains why he believes a particular thing is the best way and how it will make things easier later on. I would have given 5 stars but there are a couple of bits missing from the app, here and there, which can be found on the main site. He even tells you you’ll be doing such and such in the next lesson on one occasion but they didn’t build it into the app. Overall, a great way to get started and keep going. Even bar F isn’t putting me off..Version: 2.2.5

Perfect for an ageing guitaristI’m 75. Knew some party pieces and the usual 3 notes. Justin’s course took me back to fix basics without making me frustrated and bored. Clever mix of content, trial practise and progress. Suddenly I’m actually not only enjoying it more, I sound good enough to play in public. Recommend the balance this course by Justin has captured well..Version: 3.1.3

2021 App upgradeThanks to Justin and the team for all the effort you’ve put into this app. I look forward to discovering it all over again. Thank you for bringing over my previous practices. There’s not many developers that put so much time into getting it right..Version: 3.1.2

Simply the best!Awesome I’m an old guy not my first attempt at the guitar but the most serious attempt. Being 60 and some stiff fingers I feel the need to learn to play more than ever before. I run a carpet installation business and primarily install new floors at senior living facilities. The homes have live singers from time to time and it’s all the same music. Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and even Pat Boone and of course the big band sounds from the 30s and 40s. I always joke that when I move in the music will be Clapton, Sabbath, and of course the Stones, and Led Zeppelin. And I want to be able to play along and with Justin’s help I believe this is a real possibility. So with that said Just thank you for giving young and old the opportunity to learn to play in a very easy and smart fashion. Simply the best!.Version: 2.2.7

Exceptional teaching resource but app unstable at timesBrilliant teaching resource, complemented by an excellent website, but once every few weeks the app is incredibly unstable, and crashes repeatedly making a lesson impossible. This is happening less frequently in the past few months (I’ve been using for 5 months), but this evening a lesson has been impossible due to instability. No update available and reinstalling doesn’t help. WiFi is good, running iOS 14.2. Please fix so I can continue learning! Am making excellent progress. Thanks.Version: 2.3.11

Finally! A real and methodical approach to learning guitar. There is a lot of stuff on the net but what I have found with Justin is that he not only knows his way around the six string but has the gift of teaching. Just because a person can play an instrument doesn’t make them a great teacher. With Justin, you have both. Even though I’ve never met him personally, I consider him my personal instructor. The app is great and worth every penny, and with Justin’s commitment to always honing his teaching and playing skills you can count on him to bring new content to this app, develop others for more enhanced learning, and always bring to this world a greater understanding of what it means to be on the journey of musicianship. Thank you Justin, for giving me a path of learning that keeps me excited to learn!.Version: 2.3.2

Absolute beginnerA year ago I picked up a guitar and Justin’s course. I made my way through the course. It was well paced and the practice exercises were just what I needed. Today I am playing basic songs and more. I was able to serenade my niece with ‘happy birthday’ on the weekend. I’m looking forward to building my skills and to singing along to more and more of my favourite pieces. Being able to accompany myself with favourite hymns has brought me such joy. Thanks, Justin. I will be taking the next step with your web content once I have had that time to consolidate that you suggested..Version: 2.3.6

Glad I chose Justin.I’m a brand-newbie when it comes to guitar, I’ve had mine about three weeks now. I knew I wanted to pay for an app to help teach me and I looked around at several others, but decided on Justin. I liked his attitude, speaking voice, and all the tools that his app offers. The lessons are great! They are short enough not to get tedious, but not so short that you feel you are not really learning anything. I really like how the lessons lead into all the learning tools that he has. They are blended perfectly together and I feel like I’ve learned a lot it just a short time. I’ve also started taking face-to-face guitar lessons and I have had only one so far, but I walked in knowing the A and the E chords ! I think learning the basics with Justin during the week really helps supplement my 30 minute weekly guitar lesson. That’s not a lot of time and I would hate to use half of it learning the basics I already picked up from this app. I’m a fan, I think you will be too..Version: 2.3.10

Justin GuitarThe app has been very helpful teaching me to play guitar. I have never had a musical back ground and really enjoyed my lessons. Look forward to next steps..Version: 3.2.1

Fantastic for the musically ineptI’ve been messing around with a guitar for 45 years. I have a burst of enthusiasm, pick it up for a few weeks then get frustrated and put it down again. My biggest problem is that I’ve never started at the beginning. Justin provides clear, encouraging directions on the very basics, lots of great exercises to help you improve, and loads and loads of songs structured to help you play along at a pace and sophistication suitable to you. Brilliant for an absolute beginner or a habitual messer around. Can’t recommend it enough..Version: 2.3.12

Justin is an outstanding guitar teacherHaving subscribed to Yousician for a couple of years working through levels 1 to 8 in both rhythm and lead guitar I was plateauing. I needed a fresh approach which I found with Justin Guitar. I have learnt so much more in a few weeks with Justin Sandercoe’s iPad app that my guitar skills have taken off again. What is particularly outstanding is the time Justin takes demonstrate guitar skills through excellent videos. He sets my expectations very well, with due caution and with many hints and tips for tackling difficulties. I highly recommend his approach..Version: 2.3.6

An Amazing guitar App, Full of excellent features !!I can only sing praises for this guitar tutorial app. The excellent work that’s been done ( & still being done,) behind the scenes to create this is truly amazing. Of course this is firstly designed for beginner guitarists, and it’ll put anyone on the right track provided you follow Justin’s well designed guitar course path. If your just getting back into guitar after a break, this is the place to be too. You’ll soon find your own level, and have super fun playing and exploring once again. Wow, the song choices are so cool, with a whole bunch of great songs to practice along with. Each song gives a suggested strum pattern, and the ability to slow the song down too. I have personally found myself at a more confident level, and I’m so pleased I finally subscribed. Yes it costs a yearly subscription fee, but well worth the investment for your own guitar journey. It’s also a way to say Thank-you, and give a little support to Justin for the countless hours he’s put into everything he’s done for us all over the years. A clear, well designed, thoughtful, clever, and super fun experience, all in one place. Give it a go, it’s the only way you’ll know. A little special Thank-you to Justin & the creators of this amazing experience..Version: 3.2.1

Like private guitar lessons in your own homeBest app / at home guitar learning Justin lays out the learning process for you so you can focus on the actual learning rather than wasting time and energy trying to figure out what you need to learn..Version: 3.1.13

Beginning at 73I have just begun to use the app. Earlier I had come across some of the beginning lessons. For me the app is easier and more accessible. I recently retired and decided to learn guitar. At 73 I am not as nimble as I used to be but still had the desire to give it a try. I find this application straightforward and easy to use. So far, so good. I practice the exercises every evening and supplement them with other lessons I have come across. I can see the progression tied to the lessons and, of course, don’t know how good I might get. My end in all of this is to be able to play with some proficiency the songs I grew up with. I will give a progress report in several months. At this early stage, I am quite satisfied with my practice sessions and can see the beauty in the way Justin et al have organized and presented the app. Well done!.Version: 2.2.6

The BestI have never bothered reviewing an app before but Justin deserves this . This is quite simply the best app for beginner/ intermediate guitarists , from the structured lessons to the high quality backing tracks it’s all 5 stars , how you use the backing tracks can evolve as you grow as a guitarist I completed the beginner course before the app was available but I still use it plenty to refresh some ideas but mostly to jam over backing tracks. It is a bit more expensive than some others but Justin has put his heart and soul into this app and his website justinguitar , thanks Justin 👍.Version: 2.3.1

Keeps getting better and betterI have been using the site for a couple of years now and it just keeps getting better and betterwith some significant improvements for beginners like me - for example the upgrade to the strumming pattern on the songs may seem a simple thing but it really makes it easier to mimic the strumming for a song, instantly. The latest layout is really great and allows you to see so much on the one page - it really shows just how much there is on the site, which is really really impressive by the way..Version: 3.2.0

SuperbGreat tool if you’re just learning, especially if you are trying to build up some songs to play. Huge library of sings and really great way to learn them.Version: 3.1.13

Great app but I would like some tweaksGreat app for some guided guitar lessons for beginners, but a couple of things for me: - You will be nagged into giving a review from early on, I would like to do my review in my own time when I have made some progress with the app. - The early chord change exercises are preset which as an inexperienced player I found useful, but fairly soon, you have to set up your own exercises - which is fine but not having any musical theory knowledge, I would appreciate more preset common and useful chord sequences rather than me picking them and random. Small points, still enjoying the app..Version: 2.3.4

Very good so farI’m 69 years old and during covid lockdown I bought (rescued) a beaten up Encore Acoustic guitar from a charity shop for £15. After having it restrung and cleaned up I challenged myself to learn to play I had a couple of lessons as an introduction but after the initial novelty I found it a bit repetitive and started to get bored. The challenge was still there and searching on line for some inspiration I chanced upon Justin Guitar. I’m really pleased that I did because subscribing to the full online Justin Guitar Beginner Course has got my enthusiasm back and I’m following each stage industriously and really enjoying it. Thank you Justin for making my covid lockdown not only bearable but almost enjoyable. This course is a challenge but the professional and friendly manner in which it is taught is highly commendable. Well done and thank you. Dave Harvey (England June2020).Version: 2.3.6

Genuinely useful in helping progress on guitarThis just an update. The original review is still below. The app is great. Well worth the money. You can sort by chords but what would be really cool is being able to sort by rhythm pattern . So if I want to focus on 16th note strumming I can quickly pull up a selection of songs where that pattern is used. Might be cool also to add more advanced optional rhythm suggestions to some of the songs though as you progress that tends to come out of you on its own. I had a few other ideas but now I feel like I’m at the record store. Really helps track lessons and progress. Great to play along with and increases difficulty incrementally if you start at the beginning, obviously. The tracks to play along with might seem basic but I gather that’s the point. Working with just a metronome is really hard for me and having something to play along with really helps a great deal in grabbing a feel for the songs and music generally. As I come up with reasonable ideas I will submit them. If your trying to learn guitar then this a great tool to help you on your journey. Worth the money and time I have spent with it. Justin really comes across as someone genuinely interested in teaching and that’s just priceless..Version: 2.3.6

Great appThis app helped me learn so much and I didn’t even get premium!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.Version: 3.1.11

Justin guitarNow I am an absolute beginner. I love music but never picked up a guitar. So I started for free with Justin. And now after 3 weeks my 63 year old fingers can play recognisable songs that I sing. The Beginners song app is just fantastic in that even my terrible playing sounds like music . In these terrible times Justin has been a life fe saver. Give it a go!.Version: 2.3.5

Best learning app ever! This is without question the Best app for learning Guitar. Justin is an Excellent teacher, very personable and easy to understand. He tells it like it is. It’s going to be difficult, you will get frustrated and it takes time. The biggest thing is Practice. As he says; any of those videos that promise you can play guitar in 10 minutes are nonsense. Hard work and time are what get you there. 50 years ago I started keyboard lessons at 8 years old. I played semi professionally for 10 years starting at age 15. I always wanted to play guitar and with Justinguitar I am. It took me a year to complete the course. I was meticulous and mastered everything before I moved on to the next segment. I’m very pleased with the results and I’m just getting started on my guitar journey. There is so much more ahead. Like Justin always says, hard work and practice is what it takes. I know from experience that’s what’s required. I wish I had done this years ago. I’m extremely pleased with the results. Thank you Justin..Version: 2.3.4

Not alchemyI am a keyboard player singing teacher and clarinet teacher.. I love my piano but always wanted to play guitar . I have dabbled over the years but when I was lucky enough to acquire a Gretsch 5422T ( the guitar of my dreams) I decided to look at Justin Guitar as it was recommended to my daughter when she got a guitar . As I know about musical theory harmony chords arranging etc I just needed a teacher who doesn’t make learning an instrument like alchemy ( the illusive art changing base metal into gold) which is of course impossible. My approach to teaching singing is similar as let’s be honest it’s not rocket science. There will be people who are better than others but we can all enjoy music at our level and sites like Justin Guitar are fantastic in facilitating that .. May I offer my thanks and congratulations on your system of teaching I am really enjoying this journey. Kind Regards Gary Dickinson.Version: 2.2.13

I’ve never left a review on anything beforeAre you kidding me with how great this app is. I’ve only been using it for two weeks but it is exactly what I need. Justin is so efficient in the videos and gets right to the point. It’s broken up into modules with lessons inside the modules and then they even tell you what you should be practicing. Because sometimes I’m just not in the mood to learn more but I want to play so I just do the little practice exercises. AND I can’t believe how great the songs are that you get to play along with. It’s in such a fun Guitar Hero format and has such an amazing variety of songs, like, how am I playing along to 505 by the Arctic Monkeys and Call Out My Name by the Weekend on WEEK TWO?! It’s so cool. It’s literally the perfect app and I want whoever created this app to create an app on every subject I need to learn..Version: 3.4.2

Brings everything togetherI’ve been getting a lot out of the website and beginners songbook but this app pulls it all together in one place. The added bonus of all the play along songs is fab!.Version: 2.3.2

Engaging, fun, but oh boy do my fingertips hurt 🤣So II wanted to learn how to play the guitar for years. I tried it when I was a little bit younger and just didn’t have the correct instruction I needed to get very far. I have only been using this app for about a week and already I have learned several cords and can play along (at an obviously slower tempo) with several of the songs. I am addicted to this app and spend at least three to four hours on it at a time. Justin is absolutely phenomenal in his recommendations and lessons. He recommends for instance a specific pick for beginners. I bought some new ones finally yesterday and the difference is insane. Trust his process! I am only at Stage 2 but already I love it enough to wrote a review. More than worth the price you pay for full access..Version: 2.3.13

Great way to learn GuitarI’m an adult trying to learn guitar with no experience whatsoever. I was using another app but started to worry about my form and that I might be picking up some bad habits that would be hard to correct later. I’m doing the beginner course and Justin is so good at breaking things into easy to follow steps and explaining how things we’re doing now will lead to what we’ll learn next. While this app doesn’t have the ability to “listen “ to what you’re playing (aside from the tuner) it’s pretty easy to know when you’re not playing a chord correctly and he gives lots of tips on troubleshooting that in the lessons. This is a really fun and effective tool for learning at your own pace. Love it!.Version: 2.3.11

Really FunI’m really enjoying learning the guitar through this app, I find it a very fun way to learn guitar and I enjoy the one minute changes, I do find I’m getting faster with my cord changes and the songs also really help with the speed of my cord changes :).Version: 2.2.0

Brilliant App!I had previously struggled to learn the guitar using books and CDs largely because there is never any means of monitoring your progress. I also had a problem in following some of the lesser known songs in songbooks because I was unfamiliar with their beat/tempo. Justin’s app provides a practical route map through the various learning stages with comprehensive tuition provided on every topic. It is easy to monitor your progress as you develop new skills as each stage can only be reached when the previous ones has been mastered.....although, as you are monitoring yourself, you do need to be honest! The ‘songs’ section is absolutely excellent! The chords and changes are detailed for every song (...and there are loads of songs!) and the tempo of each can be adjusted to suit your own learning speed. With a pair of head/ear phones on, and the drum and piano backing, you really feel you are playing the actual song ........rather than just making a noise that bears no resemblance to what you had intended (which is in itself can be very disheartening!) Although it is still early days I am delighted with the app so far and don’t feel that I need to look anywhere else for either tuition or inspiration!.Version: 2.3.10

The app is amazing but if I had all the grades it would be so much betterThe app is amazing but if it had all the grades it would be so much better.Version: 3.4.2

Justin GuitarI am loving this app. 52 year’s old and decided I was going to try and learn guitar. I can say this app has been just what I needed to keep me motivated. I hope a version for rock guitar will be released sometime in the near future. Great work Justin! The only slight negative is that the video’s don’t appear to be HD quality but overall, love it!.Version: 1.2.0

Way better than self taught guitarI’m learning the guitar way quicker than I would if I just self taught. Justin explains everything in a way that’s easy to understand..Version: 3.2.1

Innovative beginners guitar courseI bought a guitar, in the hope that I would be able to play something. After looking at a few online videos, i came across Justin’s videos. That lead me to buying this app. After only four months using the app, I have gone from being unable to do anything, to completing the course, having learnt the chords up to the dreaded F, and play along to a load of great tunes. The gradual learning curve, the chord change exercises and the variety of songs that progress with you, make learning fun, and encourage you, with demonstrable improvements. I find it difficult to play along to sheet music, but playing along to the songs with the backing tracks and chord prompts in real time is excellent. The books are a useful accompaniment, with more detail and tips. I just wished there was a following improver/intermediate app to move on to in the future when I’m ready..Version: 1.2.0

So far so good!As a raw beginner and elderly I have tried several online guitar lessons all of which were ok but soon became frustrating . Justin’s online method of teaching has been by far the best and easy to follow, I feel as though I’m actually learning. the important point to make is that I’m enjoying it.Version: 2.2.5

Better than in-person lessonsBeen using the app for about three weeks now. Very impressed. Professional. Loads of practical tips. App is fantastic. Perhaps most important, Justin has the right temperament. Seems to predict and address all the little hang ups one inevitably encounters when learning something new. In summation, highly recommend. Cheers!.Version: 3.1.20

Justin GuitarFor a beginner to playing the guitar, this app really breaks down, simplifies and makes the process fun even though your fingers will beg to differ for the first few weeks. 100% recommend the Justin Guitar app to any person taking the journey in learn the guitar..Version: 2.3.4

AmazingGreat direction and motivation. Thank you Justin..Version: 2.3.11

Justin’s stuff just gets better every yearI have been using Justin’s videos on and off for years. This year I got serious and got the app. I haven’t looked back, it helped me to commit to practice and breaks everything down so it is achievable..Version: 2.3.6

From beginner to pro in no timeI have been shocked by the progress made with this app after using it for three months. This is without previous experience on the guitar or musical instrument. The lessons are broken down simply for beginners and progressively get harder only when the learner is ready to move on. Don’t let mot mastering a lesson prevent you from moving forward. Moving forward is the only way to unlock new songs. T he variety of songs grows and becomes more complex which means you’ll practice consistently. You can always go back and practice those 60sec chord changes. So far stuck at 40secs on most chords but enjoy learning songs on slow for now with the expectation that speed will come with time. Try it out! Practice on your own time. Simple and easy to learn.Version: 2.3.6

This App!!!!Just brilliant, I’ve had guitars for years picking them up now and then and struggling through an easy song or two and avoiding anything harder. So when I saw this and that it was Justin who I’d seen many times on YT I thought I’d give it a go, specifically to work through the basics. I’m now on level two and have already added a number of new songs to my songbook. Making good progress and picking up gems along the way. My TV has now become redundant..Version: 3.1.11

Making ProgressI’ve been trying to learn to play guitar for about 30 years and not really succeeding. I’ve had private lessons and got better here and there. But I never felt like I was making real progress until I started using this app and following the structure provided in the app. There’s a real guitar method here without the usual BORING songs . When you learn the first few chords, the practice songs are quite simple but at least famous pop & rock tunes. After you learn some more chords and strumming patterns, the selection of songs opens up. That’s when I really start to get motivated. I’m practicing at least 60 minutes a day, just because I see improvement daily. I hope Justin releases other apps or offers more content for this one, particularly on theory. Bottom line: if you want to learn to play, this app works, if you practice. They key difference here is you will want to practice..Version: 2.3.1

So far it’s going great - wish you could use across apps thoI’ve just started and so far I’m loving the blend of interactive modules and self practice. Great tips and a really good pace. I just wish I could use the app across my iPhone and Samsung tablet interchangeably so I could use whichever was more convenient at the time. That would make this a 5 star experience for me. Hopefully this will be something developers can work on to release soon..Version: 3.1.6
