PlantSnap Pro: Identify Plants for Negative User Reviews

Completely inaccurateI did some test runs of plants I know before using the app on plants I actually know. The app didn't come close to identifying the the known plants. I don't have the confidence to use this app to correctly identify plants that I don't know. The options don't even factor in the difference in the appearance of different varieties of the same plant. I followed the instructions to the letter and the app is inaccurate even when you help it along. Most of the guesses couldn't distinguish a vegetable from a fruit tree. The suggestions are not even commonly found in this country. I am a photographer, plant collector and amateur horticulturist. I don't think its fair to assume the user is inadequate when so many reviews including the 3-star rating found the app inadequate. This app may be able to identify the simplest of plants, but I can do that myself. I only gave my review after trying out the app many times using the best photographs I had..Version: 1.29

RubbishTried two images that Garden Answers identified correctly first time but plantsnap got both wrong. Advice from them “But if you just want to identify Grocery store plants, the free apps will work for you, too.” Support is good they respond. However the grocery comment is unhelpful because if you want to test against a plant what better way. How many try it against a plant they don’t know and just accept not knowing whether it’s right or wrong..Version: 1.17

Looks pretty and promises a lot, but....It fails to come through. Minutes waiting for any response, either positive or negative leads me to believe that it can’t do even a minor piece of identification. Passing on this app should be a snap. Much later: I received a response from the developers... weeks after posting my review. I took their suggestions, uninstalled the app, rebooted my phone, and reinstalled the app. I had to re-install the app three times to get it to work. Finally, after much stress and deliberation, I finally got the app to start after waiting over a minute to get to the welcome screen. I can only surmise that since I don’t live in North America, I have no choice but to use a VPN to gain access to their service. Using a VPN was the only way I could get the app to open and give me the option to check the plants around my house. Slugs are a detriment to plants, and this app is far too sluggish for anything I would like to do. I am uninstalling the app and the company can keep my $1.39. I will take that financial bite as lesson learned. PlantSnap is no snap. PS - when I clicked on App Support on the PlantSnap page in the App Store, I was taken to a security warning that stated that the page was Not Secure and that it may compromise my data and security. I mention this in case PlantSnap says that I “didn’t reach out” to them before posting this updated review..Version: 2.01.19

Complete garbageThis app has never worked properly or provided legitimate insights into many of the plants I have in my home and garden and now I have to LOGIN or CREATE A LOGIN just to use an app that I paid money for. Hey plant snap people, how to I get my money back for this useless piece of trash?.Version: 2.01.14

UselessCannot identify a single plant I have in my garden. You cannot trust this app to identify anything. Bizzare answers not even close to real plant, wrong region, wrong season. This app should be free, rip-off, do not spend money on this..Version: 1.10

Are you serious!!!I live in Australia and work as a gardener and arborist for council and thought that this app may well help with identifying the occasional tree and/or shrub that I haven’t previously encountered but boy was I mistaken.... Out of approximately 100 attempts at identifying local plants and trees this app correctly identified about 4 plants.... After multiple attempts I actually got sick of trying different photo angles and zoom.... Was quite enthused to show my work mates this app but was actually very embarrassed by its inadequacy..... The last straw was when I photographed my workmates thumbnail and the app identified it as a rose and when he photographed my my hair and the app identified it as bamboo!!!!! What an absolute waste of $5 and just want to warn people to steer clear of this useless app.... DO NOT BUY THIS APP..... TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY.... 😟.Version: 1.29

No login, pleaseWhy the hell should I have to login to use this app?! Maybe to access a secret social network of plants? Makes no sense..Version: 2.01.14

Bought this app yesterday ..I sent a picture in to be named by one of there Herbalist or whatever they call themselves aka not really herbalist is what it seems like to me.. there app was not identifying any plants of mine. So this is a cacti I wanted to test the knowledge and productivity of this app. It named one of my cactus species a completely wrong species. It went to call a Gynmnocalycium species a Echinocactus.. the picture I sent was very clear and they look nothing alike. And I did this for the purposes of testing out the app. Education psh.. educating the world on wrong information.. get some new herbalist. As a plant instagramer known for my plant ID’s I would be extremely ridiculed for even assuming that it is that kind of species. All you had to do was google a picture to easily see they looked NOTHING alike from the picture I sent them. Who is working for you???.Version: 1.18

Waste of timeDo not buy the app it is a total waste of time and money. It never works! What a rip off..Version: 2.01.12

Largest data base?Moved into a "developer's" neighborhood 2 years ago in upstate SC. The "landscaped" front yard came with a nice, fairly large tree. This fall, I noticed the bark peeling. Purchased this app to find out what type of tree it is to get proper care. Took 21 pictures and tried zooming at various lengths. Locked, crashed or failed to give more than a 16% "accuracy" answer (which was a tree indigenous to Madagascar:). Since this tree was planted by a builder in SC, I'm guessing it's cheap and common, not imported from an island off the coast of Africa. I have no other use for this app other than to save this tree and it's failed:(🌴🌳🌲 The worst part is they force registration, even though it's a paid app, so I'll have to tolerate all the incoming email from them and whomever the sell my info to, while sitting by my dead tree..Version: 1.7

No supportVery few plant photos I upload are identified correctly. Some are so obviously wrong. I uploaded several plant photos over a year ago for identification, but they are still waiting for identification. I emailed support on April 30\20 and still haven’t received a reply. I wish I could get a refund and try a different app..Version: 3.00.25

Never got my confirmation emailBought the app and registered but i cant sign in because i never got an email from them.Version: 1.7

Just flowers i guessNot recognizing bonzai trees or coconuts.Version: 2.01.10

Not very accurateI bought this app today and tried it on the plants in my own garden that I know the names of and it got it wrong on 4 out of 5 plants, which isn’t very good, that just begs the question if I do snap a plant I don’t know will it be giving me the correct information? So far not very impressed & feel £3.99 is steep considering the inaccuracies so far..Version: 1.28

Too good to be true!I was so excited to purchase this app but what a waste of money. If you have a general idea of what a plant may be, you may able to sift through options and choose what the plant is, but if you are interested in learning about new plants- don’t buy. It couldn’t recognize basic things like thyme, carrots, dandelion. It did recognize radish and an indoor cheese plant. The free apps do a better job. I wish I could get my money back..Version: 1.28

Increasingly awfulUsed to work somewhat however last few days I get zero results, even trying something I already know, a rose bush....I don’t buy many apps but would get my $ back if I could.Version: 3.00.29

Don’t waste your timePretty much the most useless app I’ve ever used. What a waste of time.Version: 2.01.22

Pretty uselessOut of 5 tries only got one right..Version: 1.13

Terrible App and Bad Customer SupportDidn’t even want to give this 1 star. I have better results with Google image. This App is really inaccurate. The App owner refuses to refund my money and sent me a link to a YouTube video so I could “learn” how to use the app “correctly”. And asked me to send them my photographs so they could “see what I’m doing wrong” The video admits the app makes mistakes with non flowering plants and tells you to keep trying. I don’t think this is the right standard to set for knowledge-based products. Don’t waste your money..Version: 3.00.11

It’s guessing more than I amNot very good. If you have multiple tries, reject the ones you know aren’t right, and have some idea already what the plant is, it might get close. If your plant has exactly the right features. Very expensive waste of money. As for the videos... they don’t help, and they are very repetitive, annoyingly voiced and assume the viewer is an idiot who can’t use their phone. Perhaps this app works better for Americans- I couldn’t get it to identify a gum tree! I’ve seen the response to other reviews. I don’t care what NBC said. It doesn’t work in Australia, so stop taking our money!.Version: 3.00.11

Very weakIt’s not very good at identifying trees by leaf picture, it’s little better than a guess. This app could be improved by letting the user help narrow down what the picture is of. For instance, I can cut out a lot of guesswork if I could tell the app that this leaf isn’t a flower or a bush but a tree. Next, I could further refine by telling you what climate region(s) the results should be in. Additionally, when showing results, many of the trees don’t have detailed pictures - so it might say, we think this is some random elm species - and show you a wide-angle shot of the tree from about 50 yards away, with no close up pics of the leaf shape to compare your photo to. Some have that detail, many don’t. So it’s basically worthless for my purposes, but maybe works better with flowers..Version: 1.28

InaccurateAfter 15 tries on plants that were easy and good pictures I have decided that the system they use to filter the image is inaccurate and does not result in the correct plant, despite using their tips and advice. I would prefer to have a refund for my money After writing this review PlantSnap reached out to me and told me they have a “full refund policy.” So I followed their emails and requested the email. They began requesting proof of pictures and atttempts and trying to force me to follow the links and advice to better use the app. I informed them that I’ve already done this. And I would just like he refund please. The customer service sent me this in response: “If reporters from all around the world can make PlantSnap work perfectly for them, we have no doubt that you can do it, too. You would just have to set your ego and your BFA aside and read the directions. Whatever you decide, we wish you nothing but health, prosperity and happiness! Team PlantSnap” For those of you who don’t understand BFA that translates to “Big F@ck1ng Attitude” They still have refused my refund. And continue to act rudely. Their customer service team are highly unprofessional. Honestly it’s 3$ but now I want the money back because I’d rather donate it to a more professional agency. Nature is a gift and a beautiful treasure. I’d prefer it be managed and disclosed by kind professional people. Not those who yell like children at unsatisfied customers.Version: 1.35

Not accurate so farDisappointed. Started with plants I already know, and it didn’t even list them as suggestions! Had to manually enter the names for them to pop up. Will update if it gets better. **Edit to respond to below: I find the developer response extremely condescending. I watched all your tutorials, I framed the pictures properly ( you can even look at my account), I WANTED this to work! Of course I’m going to give the app the best shot at succeeding. It literally was inaccurate and I had to manually match the ones I already knew, hoping to help the app get more accurate for other people. So, you’re welcome for that. Maybe skip the assumptions that everyone who gets inaccurate reads is an idiot..Version: 2.00.2

Waste Of MoneyThis app makes it sound very easy to use and that you can identify plants from your existing photo collection. We’ve travelled to Portugal this week and I really want to identify a number of plants. It says PlantSnap accepts photos taken from my gallery that is hot while offline but the app doesn’t show where or how you upload to identify them..Version: 2.01.14

Needs some improvement. It’s search feature needs improvement. It can only search one word terms. For instance if I type Lavandula it will find multiple with the same name, but if I type more specifically Lavandula Angustifolia, it gives no results/doesn’t search even if spelled exactly as it appears in the previous single term search results. Taking great pictures is accurately emphasized. However, some plants can not be identified because there are no pictures of late or early stages of some plants. My onions which I allowed to flower for instance could not be identified. I had to do it myself. In general though it does work well. Still needs some improvement..Version: 1.29

Forced registrationI have had this app for awhile, now I can’t access it because of a forced registration screen that won’t let you continue unless you give your personal information. Unfortunately deleting it..Version: 2.01.22

Too poor on UK flowers to be usefulI keep a wildflower blog and tested the app on some high quality photos of common UK wildflowers. It succeeded with wood sorrel and dandelion but completely failed with lady’s smock, early dog violets, sweet violets, and yellow archangel, which it thought was a stinging nettle. The first three did not even seem to be in its database. Similarly it didn’t have Alexanders in its database and suggested poison ivy. These flowers are very common in southern England in spring and would be readily identified from the most basic flower book. If you can already identify common flowers, PlantSnap won’t help with more difficult IDs. If you can’t, then PlantSnap will get you confused by confidently telling you it is a flower that doesn’t even grow in Europe. Buy a book instead..Version: 1.23

Not badSometimes it’s identifies straight away but other times however it takes a few goes, so always research the answer it gives you. However once it has correctly identified it gives a lot of info on the plant which is very handy..Version: 1.28

Pas facile d’identifier une planteC’est la première fois sur une dizaine de tentatives que l’application réussit à identifier une plante. J’espère que son taux de réussite va augmenter..Version: 3.00.03

DO NOT BUY!!!I implore every person who is interested in this app not to purchase it. My disappointment is not just in the fact that this app can’t recognize even a simple house plant but rather the patronizing, rude correspondence with the so called support team. Many attempts were made following the exact instructions explained in their videos and written ‘how to’ literature, to no avail. If it can’t recognize a simple house plant I have no faith it will recognize anything more complex. The staff refused to give a refund after many attempts and continued to patronize me. I am sure this sort of AI has a bright future but this is nothing more than snake oil. I have asked for a refund multiple times after doing my best to learn this app. Please stick to your word and give me a refund. UPDATE!! PUBILC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT Please do not be fooled into spending one sent on this app. These developers are crooks who claim they will refund your money if the app does not work. THEY WILL NOT!!! The app does not work and I have honestly followed their instructions to The letter, yet they still will not refund me. It is almost a joke and hard to believe they have one positive review. I am not usually particularly concerned about small capital purchases like this but honestly feel this company need to act in a more professional Transparent manner..Version: 1.31

Jury is still outTrying to identify mainly weeds but not really getting a match.Version: 1.22

PatheticGreat idea in theory but poor execution, this app crashes constantly and has errors all the time, I’ve tested it on plants I know and it finds it maybe half the time, and yes developer I’ve read all the instructions on how to frame the photo and such. Would be amazing if it really worked but the technology just doesn’t seem to be there yet..Version: 1.24

Mediocre but it worksThis app does what it says it will, but not in a particularly user-friendly way. Taking a picture of something gives you something that looks like an incomplete Wikipedia page. It works but it's not flashy or fun really. They also just added a banner to the icon of the pro version which is obnoxious :P.Version: 2.01.12

Plant undeterminedApp can’t recognize a perennial planted in my garden. Still waiting for botanist to evaluate and respond..Version: 2.02.00

Landscape architect here ... this is uselessSoooo I figured “this might help on hikes!” I look for a lot of native plants and enjoy learning more about the plants I don’t know yet... I did some control tests with this guy using a few of the plants in my own planting’s... first try: (remember I’m in ny) I take a photo of a hawthorn ... it recommends a banana tree. Ok that’s a tough one and it’s a bonsai so maybe it’s not perfect. Try 2: let’s try a yew that’s ok training it’s a really common plant that grows all over the world..... wait what is this... also a tropical plant!? Try 3: ok so this one is easy I mean super easy , only want it to get the try of plant right. I’m looking for a evergreen ID ... I take a photo of a larch (looks like a evergreen but isn’t) drum roll! It’s a cactus apparently! That’s right a 4ft tall weeping tree is a dwarf cactus.... this is useless , well for entertainment it has a use but save they money and buy a plant book..Version: 1.35

PrécisionLa précision n’est pas bonne. L’étendue du territoire est trop grand pour le Québec..Version: 3.00.27

Still not overly impressed and still a massive battery hogRe-review after email from developers following a two star review. Now three stars. After use of the app against known plants the match rate has improved significantly. Not to anything like their claimed ninety six percent but still significantly better. Previously, barring the test run on a Phalaenopsis which it identified first go, I didn’t use the app on plants I already knew what they were as I bought it to help me identify the ones I didn’t. One star knocked off as it is not a very intuitive experience. Apparenty I have to read articles, watch videos and practice in order to use it properly. Second star knocked off for non-functional performance as it is a massive battery hog using about five percent per plant. Neither of my identification requests have received any form of response, not even a ‘Can’t identify try again’..Version: 2.02.00

Not sureThis app is a great concept but it’s been a bit hit and miss with plants that I can already identify; which is causing me to question those that I can’t identify but I’ll use my computer to research the suggestions. Maybe I’m expecting too much. Anyhow I’m going to persevere as I would like to identify the plants and care needs for those in my new garden. Practice makes perfect and to be fair we all have the opportunity to contribute by sending in snaps and upgrading the database. For the price well worth it and I think it will improve over time. It’s certainly better than allowing my wife to weed out plants!!.Version: 1.31

Mildly accurate but well madeI was hoping this app would surprise me with its accuracy, but it didn’t. On its first outing it was correct maybe 50% of the time and crashed twice. Apart from that its well made and easy to use. I enjoy the explore option and look forward to seeing other’s contributions in AR mode. Hopefully it improves over time. I would love to see it expand to include bark identification as it is not always possible to snap leaves of high trees..Version: 2.00.4

Northern GardenerAs a person who spent most their life North If sixty on the north shore of Great Slave Lake coming from Ontario as a child I always loved gardening. One problem however I knew many plants but as the years went by I tried to grow many things but could not remember what they were called This app is wonderful And Not only do I learn their common names I’m Learning there official names as well! It’s a great resource.Version: 2.02.00

MazeyThis app I think is random. Tested on plants I did know but the app could not identify simple common plants.Version: 3.00.23

UnimpressedBrought this app. Out of all the plants I have tried it on so far at least 95% have been wrong answers. Waste of money!.Version: 2.01.0

Disappointed So FarWe live in the far north of Canada where wild flower time is short, abundant, and greatly varied. Over the years I have learned the names of many of these with the help of various flower books. This method is good, but not immediate. After researching this app, I excitedly downloaded and purchased a year subscription hoping I could take the app with me for quick identification on walks. The app tutorials are simple and complete, but the disappointing part is the app doesn't identify the wild flowers correctly and if so, very rarely. To its credit, the app identifies domestic flowers well, and has an abundance of information. I will continue to use the app for the year since it is paid for, with the hope that this review might prompt some work on our northern wild flower species..Version: 5.00.10

Excellente applicationBonne application.Version: 3.00.27

Not impressedI took a photo of a what I know to be a succulent, but didn’t know what type . The app came back with some plant totally different from the photo I took. I decided to email the photo through the app to hopefully find an answer but no reply ( yes I did check my spam mail to see if it had gone there). I understand there will be a waiting period of some kind , but even a generic reply would be nice in the words of “we have received your email please be patient “. But no , nothing so I don’t know if they received it or not . The last time I used this service in Feb or March 2017. I got the same result ,nothing , nix, zero. I eventually identified my plant with google, I would suggest you do the same ..Version: 1.35

Paid money ,not againThis is the worst , never again.Version: 2.01.20

DisappointingA very cool idea for an app (and could possibly become something better) but for now I would pass on the purchase. Not accurate and the app doesn’t seem to recognize obvious and distinct features within different species. For example, I would enter a very clear picture of a rose, and a variety of succulent called aeonium would pop up, showing me that it is in the system. I then uploaded a picture of an actual aeonium which was very similar to the photo provided by the app (shown for the rose). The option for aeonium did not even pop up for the succulent I knew was in the system. The photo was unmistakable and clear. Hoping for improvements soon as I think this is a great idea, and an app I would potentially use a lot. Guess it’s back to the old fashion identification books!.Version: 1.29

Very disappointedI read the reviews and all the information and was really thinking I was going to get a fantastic product. Most of the reviews were 5 stars so I jumped straight in and paid my money. How sorry I was when I went around trying to see what plants are going in my garden, when most of the time this app wants to take a single leaf. I found the if I picked the leaf off the plant and laid it on the ground it would perform a better job. This was in bright sunlight and it really struggled to take a photo. Often it would take just a portion of the leaf. If I took a photo of the leaf on the tree and then cut it off and laid it on the ground, then it told me it was a different tree. I found it unfriendly to use and inaccurate. I would really like to return this and get my money back..Version: 3.00.30

Great idea. Has never actually worked.Super cool idea for an app. Saw the ad and took a chance. Basically shazaam for plants. I've got stuff in my garden in curious about. Unfortunately, I've never actually gotten it to correctly identify a plant. Not once. Most of the time you upload a picture and it spits back a bunch of pictures of plants that look nothing like what you've uploaded, and aren't even of the same classification. Like, it's waaaaaaay off. I'll snap a pic of an orange blossom and it will come back with a pine tree. Save your money and just do Google image search. I think they made the Google image upload search part of the standard Google search app. Can't be more inaccurate than this thing. Not super interested in their work really hard to prove that the app doesn't work to get a refund. It was $3. Just chalk that up to the price you pay to learn a lesson about sketchy apps that make big fake promises. BTW I love that every response from Dev is 'user error'. If all the users are experiencing the same error it actually means it's a software error. The pushy BS from the help team actually makes me like this a lot less. If you don't want to fight with them for a refund just protest the charge with your credit card. Much easier and faster resolution..Version: 2.01.6

Lucky to identify 1 in 5This is good in theory but poor in reality. Most of my plants don't flower (my bad) and it struggles to identify leaves and shrubs. Its suggestions are such a wild variety of plants that may as well be cards thrown in the air. I've had the app 4-6 months and its slowly improving in interface. I had hoped it would improve recognition but alas no. Insultingly they suggest the error is in the user. I'm a pro photographer ffs! At least they have human identification as backup and that's 100% accurate. They need to be more upfront about framing all varieties (not just flowers) to help in IA matching, could be done via a wizard..Version: 1.23

Version: 5.00.07

Flowers required?I’ve sent multiple pictures to try out the app and the two that had flowers or berries came back with correct responses. When I sent pictures that just have leaves, the answers don’t seem close to the plants in my yard. BTW, I have no cannabis growing in my yard. I believe cannabis has 5 leaves on a stem not 1 leaf with 5 fingers. I can under stand if the picture wasn’t clear but if I send a picture of leave on a stem and the leaves alternate sides on the stem, the answer should never come back with plant that has leaves that don’t alternate. I know IDing a plant base on a grip of leaves is difficult, but make a suggestion on the picture not respond with an answer that can’t be correct. Thanks.Version: 1.31

This is a scamPaid for the app and went to register for the account (note the app has limited and essentially useless functionality without an account). Tried registering via Google (gmail account) and Facebook. Couldn’t get an account using either. Tried registering online and via the app as well. Didn’t work. Essentially, there is no way to get an account so there is no way to get the app to function properly. Total scam. I want my money back..Version: 1.35

Apps requests users sensitive info!Ok I’m not very happy after buying this app and it forcing me into giving my email address AND my email password. Or Facebook login n passwords. It’s ridiculous that u want our security information that we keep protected. What exactly are you doing with our passwords because you clearly ask for them for a reason and this app has no need for them whatsoever. We are all taught to Never Give Out Our Passwords! It is a breach of our security to request such things! I have reported this app and requested a refund..Version: 2.01.22

Incorrect ID & now I can’t use without logging in?I bought this last year hoping it would help me with my weeding in the garden. I used it on one plant & it told me it was mint. Well, I don’t know what the plant was but I know what mint looks like & it was not that. But I didn’t expect a 100% success rate, & shrugged it off. I returned to the app today for an ID and now it is asking for me to log in. I don’t want to give my personal details to an app. My details are not essential for this app to function. I paid money for this app & now, after one incorrect ID, it seems I cannot use it. What a disappointment. The idea of the app was a good one, but I’m not happy with my personal data being harvested for no good reason..Version: 2.01.13

Expensive and not worth it.More sales and chat then information, and scanning technology. Very disappointed! With this price it should be the other way around!.Version: 3.00.11

Not accurate for the plants I’m trying to identifyI’m pretty sure their claim of high accuracy is related to being able to spot more easily identifiable plants. As I’ve attempted to get the name for various plants I cannot recognise and the app returns obviously incorrect answers. In my experience, good photos are needed, but this doesn’t help when you’ve got some interesting plant..Version: 1.34

Disappointed, but hold hope for improvement!I truly wanted this app to work. It seems the database is small, most plants I tested failed and I worked hard to ensure I was following instructions to take the best possible photo. The only success was a pine, but I knew it was a pine when I took the photo, however it was an old tree in the garden of the family home and we were seeking knowledge of the variety. Needless to say, we are still in the dark. So back to the book until the app improves..Version: 1.33

UselessUsed ten times not once has it been correct.Version: 2.01.0

Plant scamI’ve only just downloaded this app, thinking it will be useful when I see a plant I don’t know the name of... snapped several pictures of a plants I already have in my garden and I know them... the results from the app were appalling... only 2 plants out of 10 I took a picture of came back with the right name... taken as per tutorial, so shouldn’t be confusing! For £3.99 I would expect something more reliable than the gardening book I have... quite disappointed!.Version: 1.33

No good ... unfortunatelyIf you want to look at standard things like roses it’s great (But the problem is you probably know what these are already)...,if you want to look at things like natives it is useless. After 5 weeks I’m still waiting On a response to my plant email query which is meant to be in a couple of days. Real shame as the concept is great but execution is very very poor.Version: 2.01.1

Does not workVery, very disappointed.Version: 2.02.06

Needs a bit more tweakingI gave the app some simple flowers to begin with a tulip- gourd, an ivy leaf - teak, Kerrie japonica wrong again, viburnum, no..forsythia, yes but wrong variety. Primrose - yes but no variety given. Now surely it knows a celendine- no, but finally we settled on a forget me not, yes although right plant, wrong variety, my guess that this app is made for the American market, I get my entertainment from the wildly inaccurate descriptions and am not holding my breath for the correct description. Don’t buy it yet!.Version: 1.23

A waste of money and timeI purchased this app on the suggestion of a friend who saw an ad for it. I have used it for a week and it just doesn’t work accurately. I have tested it on flowers and plants that I know for sure what they are and the app returned an accuracy of about three in ten. I have read the replies the developer provides to reviews and they are virtually all identical which suggests to me they are computer generated depending on the user star rating. No good enough!.Version: 2.01.1

Seems alrightHaving problems identifying most things in the field, but then there’s nothing in flower at the minute. UK-based, so I suppose that might have something to do with it? Works well with pictures off Google. Will try and remember to re-review/update when things are in flower..Version: 1.17

Poor customer supportUpdate: Thank you for responding and offering to look into this. Rather than listing my email here, I’ve just sent another email with my handle included in it that you can hopefully find. I have been happy with the overall app which has helped me identify numerous plants/trees. However the app advertises identification/botanist support if something is not able to be identified. In May 2019 a photo was submitted for such support through the app without a response. I didn’t bother with it until I tried again in September, again without a response. As suggested in many of these reviews I then recently reached out to support 4/19 via email and was happy to receive a response asking me to send photos back for help which I did the next day. Since then I have sent numerous emails including on 4/28, 5/5, 5/12, and recently 5/28, all without a response except for the automated one. It seems, by looking at the recent responses to these reviews, that there is plenty of time to write those, but not to reply to my request, even if to just say they can’t help me. I clearly know how to use the app given success otherwise, but am disappointed in not getting the support I purchased. Anything other than an apology and a promise to finally respond to my emails in the developer’s response here (I.e. if other excuses are given) will be further, but perhaps not unexpected, disappointment..Version: 3.00.27

PlantSnapDoes help if you move to a new country!.Version: 2.01.7

This App does not work as claimed.I've been gardening for over 40 years and desperately wanted this app to work. It's smart algrothems to identify plant genus are dumb at best. It's interface guesses wrong then gives 5 options for me to choose from???? The options they offer quite often dont even look close to what i have just photographed, so i enter a reference name for later. Once home i have no way of editing my collection names once further researched. I cant even delete entries that i later realise are incorrect or have a better image of. Annoyed and disapointed..Version: 1.14

Not very goodReally only works if you already know the name of the plant, as it throws up 6 or more plant names, if you know the name you can select it. But if you don’t, it’s just a random guess. A lot of the time when I used it, it didn’t even list the correct plant in the list. It’s ok for a $1 app I guess, but don’t expect to identify plants while going for walks in the bush, unfortunately. Edit: I don’t know why I’m being told I’m using it wrong, when you’re bragging it frames and does everything automatically (then how can I be using it wrong?) even in your App screenshots, it shows how it throws up a bunch of plant suggestions-if I don’t know the plants name, how am I suppose to know which out of the plants it’s listing is correct? Anyway, it’s a $1 app, I’ve moved on..Version: 2.01.6

Poor consistencyThis app could not identify my basil plant. I tried it 3 times to give it a chance. It will recognise some things but I won’t be trusting it while I’m hiking. Think I’ll just photograph a plant or a tree and try to I.D the old fashioned way..Version: 2.01.10

What a rip off, I want my money back...Like that’s going to happen, there was no mention that I would have to give my email details away to use this app, before purchasing the app. There was mention of email use in companion app. However this is private data, I only give to the most trusted friends and entities. Yet still I have been hacked&phished repeatably. Recently this week, had my outlook account trashed accidentally by a Microsoft technician. There was no warning, nor an after event apology. So think again, I paid for this app in good faith, only to be let down by a personal data carnivorous corporation, whom I don’t know. So put my money back in my iTunes account. I will delete your savage app..Version: 1.18

Difficult to identify a maple tree…This app seems to offer suggestions only. I have never had a definite identification, even a clear picture of a maple leaf results in suggestions that are way off with no correct answer..Version: 5.01.08

Does not work!!!I’ve tried four different plants and it has not once got it right, not even close, hopeless!.Version: 5.01.08

Does not workI was excited to have this app. I started by testing it on some easy plants, like hosts and ferns. I tried 6 and it failed on all of them. I was careful to take a good picture and frame it well, but it did not help. Very disappointed as I could use the help. The staff contacted me immediately to try to help and I tried again. I followed directions as well as I could but most answers were wrong. I put the same picture in twice and got two different answers though I did nothing differently. I also sent 3 pictures that did not work to staff and they said two were too close or too far and one was too dark. My assessment is that if it is that fussy for a plant I am familiar with I would never trust it with an unknown one. Sadly I conclude that it is not ready for prime time. Hope it is one day..Version: 1.28

So inaccurateThis app has identified 2 of 30.Version: 2.02.06

Just doesn’t work. They refuse to refundI wish I read the reviews before buying. It’s a great idea, but as many others have pointed out, it just doesn’t identify the plants correctly. It recognised 1 out of the 8 plants I tried. It’s all well and good for the developers to say you have to take ‘better’ photos, but if you don’t know the plant, you wouldn’t know it’s picking it up incorrectly. So if you are trying to identify a plant you don’t know, it’s essentially useless. I’d love to see the data that supports the 92% accuracy rate. As other reviews confirm, it’s not from real life usage. I’ll be asking for a refund. Update: also, don’t bother asking for a refund. 3 emails sent, 3 standard responses basically saying it’s my fault and making the process as difficult as possible..Version: 2.01.0

Worse than useless! This app identifies a common beech hedge as alternatively a water lily, a pear tree and various other plants. I contacted PlantSnap with the pictures I had used and was told firstly too far away, then too close, then not the right light, then there were water drops on the leaves that ‘confused’ the app. Despite my huge dissatisfaction with the app they categorically refused to refund me since the problem is apparently my lack of camera skills not their application. Once upon a time the customer was always right, now the PlantSnap customer is always wrong. Even if you manage to take a perfect photo they guarantee it will be right 92% of the time. That means the app is as on the title. You can’t trust the answer because it’s wrong so often and it is definitely worse than useless. If I could give this app zero stars I would..Version: 1.31

Very Impressive!I am cynical about most AI apps, and was hesitant to purchase this app. Most over promise and under deliver. However I work in IT and I was once a botany major... so the curiosity got the better of me. I have been testing this app on species I am familiar with and have been very impressed with the accuracy of the app. It suggests the correct genus 95% of the time! It will get the correct species about 60% of the time. Which is really high for such a complex task. For species I am unfamiliar with I can use the suggestions provided by the app and search online or reference a plant book to reach a conclusive identification. I am really impressed with this app. It is a really useful tool. It currently does not have the accuracy to solely rely on without other references, but with more people using this app the accuracy of the AI will only improve... then I will give it 5 stars. Even without 100% accuracy, it is a very valuable tool and has become one of my favourite apps!.Version: 2.00.4

Great concept but...Struggled to identify the most basic of plant species in my English garden (eg. Hellebore) despite my following the photography rules to the letter. It’s also glitchy as hell and 9 times out of ten my first attempt at uploading an image for ID was ‘unsuccessful so please try again’. I have tried out several plant identification apps and I don’t find this one to be any better than some of the free ones I have used, in several cases the free ones were actually better..Version: 1.29

GlitchyUnable to identify a range of plants at a time because the screen freezes after the first plant is identified. The “close” button is unresponsive. Doesn’t recognise Australian native plants particularly well. Will persevere and hope the problems can be remedied. I love the concept of this app but do have some regrets buying..Version: 4.00.15

I want my money backThis is a waste of $ so far, I paid for the thing let me just use it easily and without extra registrations nor location tracking and full access to my photo gallery, way too invasive. It can’t just look at a photo in my library, I want my $ back..Version: 2.02.06

Dies NOT Work, Being Charged and Can’t Delete! This app sounded like a great idea. I’ve been looking for something like this for years to identify plants in our horse pastures that might be unsafe. Too bad that when we tested this app it could not accurately identify one single known plant. I had plants with nursery tags still on them, including obvious fruit trees, that it consistently missed. Too bad I forgot to unsubscribe in time and they billed me. Fine, I’m stuck, but want to delete it now. Nope. It didn’t recognize my password so I asked to reset. The reset email never came. I went back to do a resend. Nope. No way to do it. It locks you out of the app with no password reset from the log in page. Now, when I put in my user ID, it asks me to create a whole new account. Now I’m having to sit on hold at Apple to get the billing stopped. How convenient for them. Save yourself!.Version: 2.01.5

Very disappointingI would very much like this app to work. However despite closely following instructions it has failed to work at all. It’s a good idea but appears not to be ready for distribution..Version: 1.20

Very poorI purchased this genuinely believing that the developers have had long enough to train the database by now. Regrettably, the App is useless at recognising plants! I did everything as instructed and took perfect pictures. In addition I tested the App head to head against another free App that I downloaded for comparison. I will not mention the name of the other App in case I get dismissed as having ulterior motives. I tested a variety of common plants found in most Australian gardens, including some herbs, fruit trees and ornamental trees. PlantSnap only recognised one correctly (common fig). It failed to identify all the others including parsley! It took a long time for PlantSnap to come up with the answers and all the choices were wildly wrong. The other free App was 100% accurate with a fraction of the speed to recognise the plants. I think my experience matches many other reviews. For every negative review, the developers give the same answer, cite 92% accuracy and frequently suggest that users have not followed instructions correctly. I did and I was regrettably very disappointed. The App keeps asking you to suggest the “right answer”. I was rather hoping it would educate me, not the other way round! Sorry to say that this product is very poor and I will be asking for a refund..Version: 1.17

Plant snap.I find this app although free is totally missing as far as trying to give me adequate suggestions for plants..Version: 5.00.12

Oh dear!I live in New Zealand and PlantSnap has yet to correctly identify one native plant. I paid for the upgrade version but it makes me feel cross nearly every time I try to use it!.Version: 4.00.2

Not up to the markI deleted the app.Version: 1.35

This app and support stink - save your moneyI bought this app today. I followed the directions exactly as posted. Not a single photo I took of ANY plant/flower was identified by the app. NOT ONE. I contacted support, and after much back and forth, finally received an email that basically said, “it was the number one app in the App Store today” and that I should just wait because they’re going to release an update. So, just be quiet cuz it’s a great app - even though it didn’t work AT ALL, not one time. Of course, when this all began, they said if they couldn’t resolve the issue they would refund the $3.99 I paid for it. Guess what? The issue isn’t resolved and NO REFUND. What a surprise! Save your money. The App didn’t work at all and customer support was completely ineffective and didn’t follow through with what they said they would do. At the end of the email they did thank me for being “part of PlantSnapp!” Yeah. Great..Version: 1.7

No quick ID yetSo far, I haven’t received a quick answer for any of the 8 pictures I have taken, and one or two of them should have been easy. I have also sent a few for identification and have received a response for one or two. I had high hopes for this app, but it hasn’t met my expectations, unfortunately. Response to a support question was quick, but several plants remain unidentified. Also, there isn't always much information on the plants. I wish this app had had a trial period..Version: 1.13

Not as useful as a field guideI didn’t expect for this app to be correct all the time, I bought it to support the idea of the app really This is less useful than an app such as “mushtool” I would say -it doesn’t teach you to spot plant family features -it has limited accuracy and tries to guess but is often mistaken despite giving you a list of 10 species you could be looking at The app says you should take a picture and it will identify the plant I tried a few plants- it didn’t like basil or crocosmia among others which I would describe as common garden plants.. A few plants it told me the family but not the species- e.g. geranium.. Granted.. I was pushing it a bit. I would say this app is just an early version not yet refined to the point of being useful. A suggestion I might make would be to add a flow chart analysis when seeking to define a plant e.g. Does it have bark Are its leaves shaped like x x or x How tall roughly It could be made really interactive with pictures This app just made the mistake of saying 92% accurate when it’s more 50/50 with a list of moderately bad guesses I can’t wait to see it improve so I can update my review and recommend this to friends :).Version: 1.31

Super particularThis app sounds great - until you try it out. I had photos (cropped and zoomed per the demo) of 4 plants, out of which it properly identified only one - the pansy, because of its particular shape probably. The rest had more of the round traditional shape with lots of petals - and no matter how many angles I tried all I got was “rose”... in the case of kalanchoe, I sent in the photo of my plant to the customer support and they were able to get it identified - yet it took me 7 tries (!!!) of all different angles, zoomed in and out, foliage or not , to get to their result - and even then I had to take a pic of the EXACT same flower cluster at that same angle to do it. None other clusters seemed to be the same plant I guess?? Then they tell me it’s user error and it’s not eligible for refund - which at this point it’s not about the 4 bucks at all, it’s about the customer support and understanding. They were quick to get back to me, but the answers just were not helpful at all. Super frustrating..Version: 1.19

Don’t botherProbably the most useless app I’ve ever downloaded, certainly the most useless I’ve ever paid for. When it came up with strange answers for plants I was trying to identify I thought the answers were a bit odd like wrong geographical regions, etc. As a test I tried ten very common plants native to my area (Western North America) that I knew. Again bizarre answers. I tried submitting several photos and angles of the same plant in the hope that would help. No luck. Example: Rosemary still came up as foxglove first and was nowhere lower down on list. Waste of space, time, and money..Version: 1.8

All but uselessTerrible app. Disgusted that I paid for it. It only identifies correctly (or at all) half the time. I had submitted about 6 photos for ID by a professional when the app couldn’t figure it out based on photos. Weeks later I still had no response so I contacted the app developers. They asked me for copies of the photos but I STILL have no response about the plants or why I’m not getting any answers from anyone. I recently logged onto the app to discover that all my unidentified plant photos had been erased. They’re gone. So now I will never know the answers. It seems these people have no idea what they’re doing. I hate it. Just to clarify, I submitted the exact same photos to Reddit (/r/whatsthisplant) and they had zero issues identifying the plants. So that’s what I’ll be doing from now on. I hate when you ask for help and get ignored. EDIT: PlantSnap people I am appalled by your condescending and rude comments on other people’s reviews. Unbelievable. I better not get a sassy response from you saying how thousands of other users have had no issues. Because these issues aren’t me. It’s YOU that is not responding and erasing my photos from my app..Version: 2.02.00

App has potential. But it can be difficult to use.Surprised to see that the app developers are pretty aggressive and unyielding to criticism based on the way they respond to unsatisfied customers here. This app has potential but it’s not very user friendly. If I want to identify something, it makes me redo the picture many times and I just end up getting frustrated. I understand the requirements for the picture. (To the app developers who will respond to my review, I don’t need a lesson on the rules of how the picture should look) You would think that it’d be easy to use but it’s really not. And a lot of the time, I just end up with very limited results. Again, that’s probably my fault for not taking the picture within the parameters that the app clearly explains. But I didn’t realize it would be so hard to master and that it would give such inconsistent results. I regret my purchase. It’s too late now. But hopefully the app will improve. For now, I find that I’m better off googling a description of what the plant looks like instead of using this app. Maybe that’s my fault but I can’t be that much different than the typical target consumer..Version: 1.24

Not bad but not good eitherPlant identification isn’t that accurate. I started my identification using plants that are already identified. The first three of five plants were incorrect. The only other problems I had was that the app crashes when you select “get” or try to send the plants details to someone. This has good potential, but it’s not quite there yet..Version: 2.00.4

It’s a waste of money.I was constantly running into issues with PlantSnap. It didn’t matter how clear it was or what angle I got, it would miss diagnose every single plant - not even getting near the right plant family. If your dependent on survival and you have a water hemlock before you and PlantSnap shows you that you got a wild carrot, what’s the chance of you digging that root up an cooking it because PlantSnap says it’s a wild carrot? So if you’re a city guy looking to do country things, this app is not for you because if you don’t know the difference you can die. It’s dangerous because of how in accurate it is and it’s a waste of money.****************** To solve this issue get a book for wherever region you’re living in that has pictures and details about each plant you have in question. It needs to have all the stages of growth and a detailed use for each plant, with all the warnings and precautions including look-a-likes and certain smells and odors that comes from the edible version versus the non-edible highly toxic version and it’s characteristics. ************* Do your research, don’t trust some on the fly App!!!************************************.Version: 5.01.08

PointlessFine if you know nothing about plants at all. It doesn’t really do varieties just major plant groups as far as I can tell - it’s a daisy, it’s a fuchsia, it’s a tulip. That’s fine, but I want to know which varieties so that I can buy them. And I’ve been waiting over a week for a response to a submission for an identification and I’ve heard nothing. Waste of money as this is completely oversold and of little use to an already quite knowledgeable gardener..Version: 1.29

LimboDownload free version of this app and got fed up of adverts so payed for pro version. At first it was ok but with every update the app gets more commercial. I really wanted it for wild flower ID but find now it’s more about garden cultivars. Because it’s trying to show you more plants it takes longer to come to an identification. The pictures it shows of the selected plant are very poor. Tends to come up first with plants for you to purchase which look nothing like your picture. If you take my advice use Google lens for free. Far more accurate and ID much faster..Version: 5.00.10

Sick of having to sign in every updateTitle says it all..Version: 2.01.14

Plant Snap Pro reviewOut of 8 plants in good light 2 were only identified in the second choice, 1 in the 5th choice. Couldn’t even identify tomato or aloe Vera therefor don’t waste your money.Version: 5.01.08

PoorCant even pick out a simple tomato leaf or mint leaf. Watched the tutorials and im doing all they ask. Waste of money..Version: 1.14

I’m a biologist that teaches field ecology...I teach Field Ecology and literally plant identification and thought this might help my students supplement next semester so I’ve been trying it out this summer. It’s fine for weeds you find everywhere but that’s about it. I tried both parts of the plant and isolated leaves using the instructions for proper framing. It told me Southern Catalpa is probably willow and that my lupins were probably bananas. I’ve tried about 20 other species with similar results. It couldn’t even figure out common privet. One problem is probably the differentiation between compound and simple leaves, but I suppose this is what happens when computer scientists try to write an algorithm that can account for the myriad variation among and between plant species. In theory, if they use machine learning, it should become more accurate though..Version: 1.31

Could not even identify mintAs above.Version: 1.33

Not identified anythingTried various plants, the app hasn’t managed to identify one correctly, I have viewed the tutorial and followed this to the letter. Asked for help to identify something on 16th March, nothing back yet. Not great for the £2.99 asked. I went to google lens this morning, which is FREE, tried 2 plants this morning and both correctly identified. I will be using google lens in future. Unfortunately I have wasted my time and money trying this app..Version: 1.19

UselessThis is the most useless way to identify plants. Almost every plant I input is wrong. Don’t waste your time or money. When you need to identify a plant that is invasive or toxic, or one you want to use for medicinal purposes, this is not the app to use. I’m deleting it..Version: 5.01.06

Ok for common plantsThe app really struggles to correctly identify obscure plants, which is kind of the point of the app. Common plants work ok, however that’s not why I got the app. It may help if you could manually enter a known origin for the plant to help the search function narrow down. For instance, I was trying to identify a native Australian rainforest plant and the app kept telling me it was a mango (which it wasn’t)... entering known factors may help increase accuracy..Version: 2.01.8

I'm disappointedOut of six plants I have submitted (4 of which I knew what they were) not one was recognised..Version: 1.10

PlantSnap has gone downhillI often use PlantSnap to confirm what I think a plant is. It has been 100% correct until the last update. Since then, it has been wrong about 60-70% of the time. So very frustrating. This evening I submitted a clear picture of a Himalayan Blue Poppy, and PlantSnap got the poppy right, but not the kind of poppy. How many poppies are blue? I have sent e-mails and received standard for replies. I hope they fix this soon. Now, PlantSnap is wrong 100% of the time..Version: 5.01.08

Don't waste your moneyIn the time I have had PlantSnap it has not positively identified a single plant that I have tried to identify. This app is inefficient and definitely not simple to use. Don't waste your money..Version: 1.36

"Ask for Help"For a predictive AI this feels pretty weak right now. It's a good concept though. It works about as well as a google reverse image lookup for me - the requirement for a 'perfect picture' is probably fine if you're in a backyard, but good luck if you're in wind, too much sun, too much shade, have an interesting/rare flower or the flowers and/or buds/leaves don't match the database yet, or god forbid you don't have the flower and have to go off leaves, buds and bark (get a proper field guide and ID it yourself). No, I haven't "reached out", and I don't want to. If I disagree with the app I teach it the right choice. In an online world, this is paying to beta test and train their product pure and simple, and I'm actually fine with that, but it's not a finished package. I want the app to work like a local plant specialist is looking over my shoulder, and this is *not* that, yet, although it or something like it will be one day..Version: 1.14

Bad IDI have so far tried this App on 4 different plants and every ID given by this App is WRONG. That’s 100% Wrong so far. I did it to test the App, so I’d say it was useless. If it can’t identify the plants I know, I can say with all certainty that it will also give the wrong answer when I don’t know. The four I chose are very simple. They are, Rosemary, Oregano, Mint and a Crabapple. All wrong. $5.99 just wasted..Version: 1.16

Don’t waste your time or moneyI bought this app and downloaded hoping to identify some plants in my yard. I took good clear pictures of the plants and this app was only able to identify 2 out of 7 pictures. I contacted plant snap requesting a refund. They asked that I send some sample pictures which I did. I emailed them 4 pictures and they were only able to identify 2 out of the 4. Their botanists researched the other 2 pictures and were finally able to identify them. Plant snap said that if the plant is not in bloom then the app doesn’t always work......So this app can only identify blooming plants 50% of the time. Plant snap completely ignored the fact I requested a refund. In response to your response to my review, I did write to support at PlantSnap. If you read my review, it’s says I contacted them. I have requested a refund on 3 separate emails. I did follow the directions..Version: 1.33

It only guesses at the answerFair to poor performance, don’t waste your dollars. I love flowers, take many photo’s, aspecially close ups of single blooms. Even the best in my photo library only returns a 67% "probability". Then it’s asking you if you accept or reject their "guess" (and that’s all it is)! If I knew what it was, I wouldn’t need the app! The supposed point of this app is for IT to tell YOU what the plant/flower is, not the other way around, simply not ready for any App Store. They’re collecting your data and guesses to TRY to improve their app. Essentially you’re paying them to beta test their software. I said it before and I’ll repeat it now. This is a botanical version of Vivino. Why can that app use a photo of a wine bottle label taken in poor low light conditions and return correctly 99% of the time, yet this app can’t seem to rise above a 67% guess? Read all the other reviews, most people are having similar issues and problems. The responses from "customer support" for these other complaints is a repetitious, Steve Jobs sounding "you’re doing it wrong". It’s not rocket science, it’s just a poor app. Steer clear..Version: 1.20

Dont waste your moneyUseless app. Wish I had read the reviews before downloading. I watched the video and followed all the instructions and it could not identify my African Violet or the common Fir Tree in my backyard. Gave responses that were not even close. Yes developer, I have not reached out for support because you will just say I did not follow instructions and I have. You just have to be honest and admit you are. Eta testing a crappy app. Make it free until it works!.Version: 1.12

Not identifying plantsYou kept prompting me to review the app even though I have had limited usage on it. I have now tried 6 plants in southern Australia, zero strike rate. I even tried a tomatoe plant and strawberry plant thinking it was a common plant and should easily identify it. Yes I have watched several of your videos and instruction tutorials. I have been aware of the need for a good picture. I will persist and if it improves I will write a review supporting the app..Version: 1.10

Doesnt work at allThe app is completely useless at identifying plants. The results provided are often not even similar to the type of plant being scanned. Sometimes i will scan the exact same leaf twice and it will give entirely different results. For plants which cannot be correctly identified, they offer a manual identification by an expert. When i chose this option they never even replied (its been over a year now). Even when scanning the most basic, common plants it will give you completely wrong results. Frankly, I think either their AI is broken or this app is a complete scam. I paid for the premium version of this app to access features like manual identification, yet they dont deliver on their promises. Extremely disappointed in this garbage excuse for an app. You need to fire your hopeless developers asap and stop scamming people out of their hard earned money. Before you go and reply to this saying “have you checked our guide on how to properly identify the plant” - yes I have, and im not a tech illiterate elderly person who doesnt know how to use apps, I am a 23 year old digital media grad. The fact that you even reply to every one star review blaming the users is absolutely pathetic. Instead of taking criticism on board and trying to improve your app, you just point to useless tutorials and reviews from Apple. What are you trying to achieve by dismissing any and all criticism? Instead of spending all this time just blaming the many users who gets incorrect results, why dont you spend some time making your app do what it says it does.Version: 5.01.00

Pathetic PlantSnapA waste of time. The photos I took came back with ridiculous names. I waited three days and the experts never came back to me. I sent my photos to their customer support and apparently you have to be David Bailey to get the photos right. It is just ridiculous. They say they have a refund policy but they don’t refund your money if you ask. Do not buy. I agree with the other bad reviews. It’s a waste of money. In answer to your reply I did write to you and stated that I didn’t want to give you a bad review, and to refund my money. However you ignored that. Your experts have still not identified my plant and how you can give advice on photography when you have never heard of David Bailey is so sad, it’s almost funny. I sent my photos to Gardening Which and without costing anything they could identify my plants from the photos your experts couldn’t use! That is why I would like a refund!.Version: 1.31

Always wrong resultsIt’s almost random with the plant identification..Version: 3.00.23

Forced to log inVery disappointed to update the app only to find out users are now being forced to log in..Version: 2.01.12

Hate itI live in Australia Queensland, I brought plants from a common store called Bunnings. Bunnings sells the same plants across Queensland and mostly sells the most common plants in Queensland. This app couldn’t recognise 3 out of my 4 plants from Bunnings. Very disappointed, this should be a free app as it still has a lot of work todo and it’s not even worth $1.00 and I’m not happy I spend over $5.00 on this app..Version: 1.21

Identified zero out of ten known plants..Cool concept but it doesn’t work at all...Version: 2.01.0

Terrible APP. Building a database on your dollarsI have loved mother nature since I began camping at age one. I followed that tradition with my daughter, taking her camping at the same age. I have grown up identifying the natural world using nature books on every conceivable aspect of nature; animal tracks, bird books, mammal books, identifying rocks, identifying scat, identifying scat, and the list goes on. Despite being fairly knowledgeable on all subjects nature this looked like a fun addition to have handy as I strolled around my neighborhood or the woods. Since purchasing this app five days ago I have sent in six pictures, none of which are blurry, out of focus, have bad lighting, etc for their identification purposes, as per their own instructional video on how to present your pictures. Their identification of my snap pics have been something that has the same color or might be in the same family, leaving the identification up to the color or the leaf shape. Their response to me after failing to identify these six snaps is that I am doing it wrong, I am uploading my snap wrong. If you notice that’s the response to virtually everyone that has a bad review here. Don’t waste your money this app is being presented too early. Wait a year for them to build their database..Version: 1.28

Pas precisPas précis même avec une excellente photo avec le fruit, les feuilles et la tige.Version: 2.02.04

Same old songThis was a very ambitious project that started with good intentions and unavailable promises of 90% accuracy. I applaud the developers for the effort but I I am fed up with there defensive attitude that it is always the users fault when it misidentifies a plant. Like many others... I have used this app for over a year. I am a very accomplished technical person who also has a lot of experience With photography including for technical purposes, proper composition is a must for an app like this to work so I have taken many photos of plants following their instructions. I have a lot of experience programming and many other technologies. I read all the instructions, watched the videos, contacted tech support many times and get the same old song. It’s all my fault their app cannot tell an acorn from a coconut! An oak tree from poison ivy, a sun flower from whatever. If you don’t already know what the plant is don’t count on this app to get it right. Save your money and after you finish reading this review you can read another Defensive bs answer from the developers that just can’t find within themselves enough humility to admit their app is unreliable. Save your money. I get much more reliable identifications using free internet search engines. Please plant snap, spare everybody the defensive answers you give and don’t respond to this review. Fed up with your “every one else’s fault” answers..Version: 2.01.22

Don’t botherHave taken two pictures very common trees in Italy. One in lake Garda where they are everywhere and one in a park in Milan and both times they were very very wide of the mark and ridiculous with their suggestion. So I took a photo of my toes and it told me that they were a very rare orchids. Laughable really if you didn’t have to pay for it first Just tried it again to see if it has improved. Perfect photo of a meadow flower. Apparently I am in the Sahara somewhere. Worst App ever IMO.Version: 3.00.23

Not worth the moneySo far every photo I have added the app has not correctly identified one photo.Version: 1.10
