PlantSnap Pro: Identify Plants for Positive User Reviews

Love this app! Used it a lot with plants I didn’t knowIn Philadelphia...really enjoy it! Thanks.Version: 3.00.23

I like it.Quite a few negative reviews here... but it works just fine. I can usually find what I’m after a few tries and you can always fire off a photo to an expert to learn what it is..Version: 2.01.3

A little bit of patience is all you need! This app is truly amazing, despite it not always providing an EXACT match every single time. No two plants look exactly the same, but this app provides more than one result, and from the other options, you can find other plants in the same family, look that up in the search icon, and you can narrow your results down quite easily and soon find your plant! It’s almost IMPOSSIBLE to get your exact match by just snapping a picture and that’s not the apps fault necessarily because the diversity in plants is just too wide for any database to pinpoint an exact match first time around, but it does give you many different approaches to finding your plant in the end. All it takes is a little patience:) As for a suggestion towards the future update to improve the app’s function, I wish that there was a way that you could add plants to your collection from what you search in the search bar. I would love to document all of my plants in my collection, even the ones that I already know the names of, but I have to go through the process of taking a picture, suggesting a name, and then finding my plant and adding it that way. It’s not the end of the world, but I would still love for that to be a new feature!.Version: 1.33

Works great, with a decent pictureI’ve been using this for about a week, and I absolutely love it. I’m usually pretty curious about plants, but since getting a new house, I’ve really had a need to identify a lot of unknown plants. Like the ones our contractor planted before we moved in— we had no idea what they were, and thus how to take care of them. This app helped me identify all those in my yard, but it had trouble with some weeds I took snaps of. No problem though— the app let me submit it for identification, and a few hours later I had my answer. We were also recently in Disney and I took pictures of a few plants I thought I might want to decorate with at home. I live in a completely different climate, so I had no idea what these were. Plant Snap wasn’t dead on all the time, but comparing the results from pictures of a few different angles got me the answers. Taking pictures of flowers and MATURE leaves is the key. On a plant, the lead shape can vary depending on how close it is to the ground or branch tips, so try to get ones in the middle. Also try identifying a few different snaps and seeing what results are in common. I’ve had great success with this so far..Version: 1.29

Easy & EffectiveThis is just a fun pursuit for me, but if you need this kind of help, this is a great place to start if you don't have your own private horticulturist..Version: 1.24

Nailed It!Easily Five Stars. Excellent support. Full information of the explanation of what we needed. Our question was promptly acknowledged and we were told how many responses were made ahead of mine..Version: 1.24

Frustrating App.I’ve updated to the latest version after having a problem with the App. crashing when processing every photo, before I get the chance to reframe the shot. Still the same pesky problem. I’ve freed up all the memory, in the hope that would help. It didn’t..Version: 1.18

Plant(image) identificationVery good and useful.Version: 1.19

So much funI have just bought this app but I’m really enjoying identifying plants from our trip to La Gomera in the Canaries. The gardens are beautiful but not all the plants are labelled. Now I know the names of some of the ones that aren’t and I love the extra knowledge this app provides. It can be frustrating though if the app doesn’t recognise the plant but I can put up with that!.Version: 1.29

The smartest app in the worldI love knowing what the plants around me are - it means when I’m out & about & think ‘that would look nice in my garden’ I can point & click. Also, my insta mates think I’m the garden guru when they post a pic & say ‘I’m not sure what this beauty is’.Version: 3.00.00

Fantastic ApplicationI loaded this app in Melbourne, Australia, without great expectations. While travelling in Bali, I thought to try it on the pretty flowers around me! Amazing - in two minutes I had complete details for 3 different plants! Now to return home and stretch my own knowledge....Version: 1.29

Great appThis is excellent for identifying plants. It’s helped me every time I’ve used it! It’s either spot on or it’s the right plant, but maybe not the right species. It’s a really handy app to have, especially if you love plants!! Gardener or just a garden enthusiast, this will help you with your plant identification! 🌱🌸🌿🌻🌲.Version: 2.01.17

Great App!!Other plant identification apps search until they finally "time out" and fail. Every time I use PlantSnap I immediately get the answers I need..Version: 1.24

Great app for plant loversAn improvement I would love is if information on plant preferences (soil, sun, water, ect) was available with the other plant information, as well as a list of other common names for plants.Version: 1.11

Nice appI was sitting on my deck this morning looking at a couple of plants I have and said I wish there was an app to snap and identify a plant. Somehow this app popped up and I figured it’s worth a try after reading both good and bad reviews. So far it has properly identified both of the plants I snapped. I went into my garden and snapped a few more plants. Yes one time it couldn’t identify so I backed up a bit and it did work just fine. I’m sure there will be quirks from time to time (nothing is perfect) but it beats trying to search from pics online. Fast and accurate. I snapped a pic of my Virginia creeper and gave me several choices, one being poison ivy. The second choice was correct. I like that because so many plants have similar foliage. This app is awesome. I’m not sure why some people have had problems. I’m using an iPhone 7plus. Well worth the 4bucks $$.Version: 1.31

Pretty goodI have been using this app for a couple of years and generally speaking I am pretty satisfied with the plant identification. The wild plants are less identifiable but with each year the plants available for identification increases. If you are somebody like me who can’t remember plant names but always wants to know “What is that?” 75%of the time you will get your answer..Version: 2.01.29

New version a time waster for meWe live in a country area where internet wi-fi or mobile phone signals are not readily available outdoors or around the property and it seems like the PlantSnap application may now be reliant on such services in order to work. An older version worked okay; identifying the snap when connected to wifi. It’s frustrating because lots of time lost. As well, the augmented reality screen shows nothing but a black background and its bubble outlines. So if PlantSnap functionality is reliant on an internet connection when taking the snaps that’s a problem. Since the last update it hasn’t worked and the entire app jus freezes. When I am in a WiFi accessible zone - like in the house it eventually loads but I don’t have much growing inside 🤔. Okay, so I have just turned off the location access in iPad settings specifically for PlantSnap and I will see if I have any better luck. If I do I will write another review. BTW - I don’t usually take time for reviews unless I am amazed or totally disappointed 😞. Possibly the application could have a few settings added to cater for bad internet connection services..Version: 2.01.13

Great appOnly complaint is I get served ads even though I paid for the app. Not super happy with that, also the UI on the ads causes them to often cover up the plant description. Beyond those two issues, this is one of the most exciting apps and best purchases I have made on this phone.Version: 3.00.10

Just startingOnly just bought the app but it has identified some older pics and is easy to use.Version: 1.28

It’s never wrongWe’re in the backblocks of Queensland and the plants are all, never seen anything like it, tropical exotic types and plantsnap knows the whole lot. Excellent!.Version: 3.00.10

Nearly there...I had no trouble identifying the plants, but I was expecting to see a guide on how to care for them, as well as information about its origins, etc. I can Google it, but having it in-app would be a real bonus. I also felt that £3.99 was a little on the steep side. It would have been a five star rating otherwise; great interface, clear instructions on how to use the app, and accurate results..Version: 1.29

Amazing!I just came back from a 20 mile walk and this amazing app correctly identified everything I pointed it at. Very very clever! I’m really looking forward to using it a lot more. This has instantly become one of my favourite apps :)..Version: 2.01.20

Worth the moneyTrying it out as I often see plants which I want to either recall a forgotten name or identify and testing this app on plants I know it seems to be giving accurate results 👍👏.Version: 1.17

WorksWorks well and each update keeps getting better..Version: 3.00.00

I Live In The Ottawa National Forrest10 years ago my husband and I purchased 20+ acres with a house and several garages in Gogebic County in Michigan in the Upper Peninsula. We live in the Ottawa National Forrest. No way to really control the bug and pollen cycles. There are so many trees, plants, insects, and animals that visit us on their way to the creek behind us. The animals bring new plants with them all the time and when they start growing I want to know what everything is. Plant Snap is a great app to identify all the tree and plants. I also have an app to identify animal scat and another that ids animals..Version: 2.02.03

Addicted to the glow; still wanna connect to nature? So I’ll be the first to admit I spend days holed away indoors staring at the screen for work and also for “leisure.” Sure I’ve lived outside for extended periods of 2 months or more. Yes, I have done extensive hikes and paddles on some our nations most wonderful trails and waterways. Still, sometimes it’s nice to have the security blanket. A way to get back outside while still having that tether to the modern technological world. This app does just that and more. It’s addicting really. All the neat plants that I have been in cohabitation with for days, months and years now can have a name. The app goes on to, in some cases, give historical information and relevant known medicinal uses. If you’re looking for a way to start or continue your deepening relationship with the natural world, I highly recommend the app PlantSnap. Did I mention if the found match doesn’t seem correct you can send away and receive a informed identification from one of their teams expert botanists. That’s right access to bonafide scientists! How cool is that. Way cool, I know. Get it. Start looking around more and experience that childlike curiosity for the world around. Great gentle transition after days of GOT binging..Version: 2.01.20

It's okFinds some plants and not others..Version: 2.01.7

Take it or leaf itThere’s an episode of Silicon Valley where someone sells an app that recognises any food by taking a photo. They prove it by taking a photo of a hot dog. But it turns out it only recognises hot dogs. I decided it was worth £4 just to get onboard with something that is having a go, but it turns out it works! Amazing. It knew my photo of some leaves were of a blackberry bush and that’s enough for me. Well played..Version: 1.31

Overall decent experience.Armeria Maritima (Seapink). We’ve had these in a narrow strip of our garden for over 8 years. We’ve also had around a dozen queries as to what they are - and I now can confidently forward an answer thanks to this app. Initially, I followed the developer’s instructions to a T; framed the flower correctly, perfect focus, good natural light, but then... as I attempted to initiate the zoom function, it proceeded to crash. Not once, but EACH (and every) time. Still does. I’ve found if the original photo is of a good enough quality, PlantSnap functions at its claimed accuracy. I would recommend this app for the novice & seasoned gardeners alike; however, bear in mind the enormous database the algorithm must filter through (over half a million) to match to your photo, so prepare for a consistent 5-15 seconds prior to its result (& subsequent other suggestions). The ‘Rate Me’ pop-up was quite annoying as I’d liked to have test-drove it for an hour first without the constant annoyance. Overall, a 4-star rating until the zoom function is rectified..Version: 2.01.8

This is amazing!I used to be an amateur wild flower identifier, I did it for about a year. I read about all the terminology in botany or the glossary of flower identification, I got pretty familiar with terms, but I found I couldn’t ‘key-out’ in the flower identification books, and certainly not on the spot, it was too difficult. This app solves all that! It’s amazing! I would have paid more or even annually for this app. Get it in combination with Wild Flower Key books!.Version: 2.00.2

Great for finding names of old Established plantsI’ve been wanting to find plant information lately, and this app helped a lot! I took photos of random plants in my house/yard/neighborhood, and I got very nice results..Version: 1.24

Works fineDo you have experts at your fingertips is just awesome! Be sure to take close-up pictures as it will make your search much easier..Version: 1.24

Love itWould love the option to keep collections kind of like a Pinterest board - and the option to save other plants which are suggested which aren’t my given plant. Would also love the option to add notes to my photos for my own reference!.Version: 2.01.2

IPhone and iPadI downloaded this on my iPhone and had a mess about with it and so far, so good. I went to download it on my iPad (same account) and it has the price showing? All my other apps share across my iPhone and iPad. Does this abs I am doing something wrong? Or does it mean I have to purchase it twice?.Version: 1.29

Excellent app for me!A small mystery stalk appeared in my yard. It was so pretty, I let it grow. No one has had any idea what it is, but this app id'd it exactly. This is the first time I've used the app, but I'm astounded how quick, easy and accurate it is.Version: 1.24

Needs work, but high potentialAs this is the only (good) flower/plant search database of its kind, $3.99 is an investment I am willing to make. I would very much like at least one company or software to have an extremely detailed and thorough database of the world’s plants. Though it will take a while longer to get there. Things that need improvement: 1) instructions need to be less invasive, I understand the need but it ruins the experience. Many apps are able to get around this with good app development. 2) obvious - a better database. Some of the plants I have searched were highly common and very obvious as to what species they were - yet I only received a 53% hit. 3) better app platform. It’s a bit clunky and could use a nicer design. There seems to be some html errors scattered throughout too. 4) The ability to send in pictures that get no hits for very skewed results so that the problem can be rectified for future searches..Version: 1.16

PlantsnapIt appears that so many of the plants are American. As I am in United Kingdom so many if the answers don’t apply. Appreciate good photos are needed and my last few have been very good. Will continue to use it and hope it will improve..Version: 1.22

Useful toolThe app offers several suggested matches. Look carefully as the best fit is not always the the one with the highest probability. The app captures your location at the time you upload the image, so if you take a picture on a hillside then upload it later from a hotel room, the app thinks the plant is in your hotel..Version: 1.29

Outstanding! This app is simply incredible and such in innovation in accurate plant identification. The plants that come out in the identification panel after you snap it can be narrowed down to the exact species instead of just a single genus. I have independently studied ethnobotany for the past 4 years and this app not only makes it easy, simple and fun to use just functionally, but also has a place to store your information in its own library on the plants you have snapped. And to the people that created this app, thank you so much for all the work that went into this masterpiece, 300,000 species and counting! (P.S. Poison Ivy ID just got a whole lot better!).Version: 1.29

It is my memoryNice job PlantSnap with various suggestions.Version: 2.01.29

Lisa MarshallJust starting using this app today, found it to be very accurate, loving it! Would highly recommend..Version: 2.00.2

Common namesJust as I expected and always wanted when I go to the JOrdanian nature. I do wish, however, if common and historical names are listed in Arabic language whenever possible,,.Version: 1.18

WowSo I read the reviews and thought maybe this app would be a great idea but I take pictures of very simple common plants and the majority of the time it does not read it properly. I’ve had the app for 15 minutes now and I’m extremely annoyed I have to constantly take pictures over again because the app is not processing the plants and if it does process the picture it brings up plants that are not even in the same species. I shouldn’t have to take a picture of one plant five times to get the name it kind of feels like I just wasted my $20 purchasing this app. I’ve already had to send two plants to them to be identified because the app cannot identify the plant which to me is annoying this app is supposed to be a plant identification app it’s supposed to be as simple as snapping a picture of the plant and you being able to receive all the information your seeking on the plant it is your searching for but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I have over 150 indoor plants I’m not gonna sit here and take five pictures of each plant just to get the name I’m hoping the developers will read this and fix these issues..Version: 2.01.29

A must have app for gardenersBought this app as we are in the throes of redesigning our garden. Visiting loads of National Trust gardens getting ideas. Seeing plants we like and being able to identity them has been absolutely fantastic. Everything so far identified so looking forward to completing our own garden..Version: 2.01.29

Great !!We have a beautiful garden in our new house this app is perfect for telling me all names of flowers and plants ! 3/3 identified so far !!! Good investment don’t be put off with reviews it does work and easy to log in via Facebook !.Version: 1.29

ThanksI bought this app based on the feedback the developer provides to its customers. I am so tired of buying rubbish and misleading apps in the App Store - the support and feedback Plant Snap gives is refreshing. I have used the app and it gives me new knowledge - thanks to whoever makes it and provides the support..Version: 1.16

A gratifying experienceI’m thrilled with this app. It works is why. I love walking and hate not knowing what plants I’m admiring.. I just take pics now and id them in the pub at my leisure. It’s easy to cross reference the results it provides by googling them. It’s rarely wrong 👍.. well done to all responsible for this valuable tool..Version: 1.29

Great reference app!I was kinda skeptical at first... I got this app after a bad two weeks of poison ivy. The videos and tutorials have helped me make sure my success rate with the algorithm stays high- big thanks for that! As I continue to “collect” new flowers and plants that grow on my property, I’m really enjoying the fun info and feeling like I have a botanist in my pocket at all times. I would recommend for future updates: 1) mushroom and fungus descriptions to know if it’s safe for eating raw, cooking, is hallucinogenic, or deadly. The idea of knowing what’s edible out there from dandelions to whitecap mushrooms would be really cool to capture and enjoy. 2) augmented reality... live video collecting various plants and flowers, and the algorithm can be focused to know its a location based collection, so there’s no overseas plants, etc which could aid in faster live identification. This could also help see where poison ivy, poison oak, or various toxic plants are. I could see some sort of game of collecting or helping identify could help you collect points, and redeem them to have someone plant a tree... idk. Great app! Thanks!.Version: 1.31

Lovely! What a wonderful app, and a wonderful concept! Its not 100% accurate 100% of the time, but you honestly can’t expect it to be with something as diverse as plants. So far almost all of the plants I’ve tried this out on have been accurate (and I’ve been doing it on plants that I already know) and most of the ones where the best guess wasn’t correct had the correct plant in the “if it’s not this, then it might be one of these” area at the bottom of the screen. For those of you that are salty about the app not being perfectly accurate every single time, you have to understand that with something like plants, many species are extremely similar to each other, and you can’t forget that these are living things with their own diversity amongst their own kind. You might have two red clovers side by side, but they’re not going to be *exactly* the same. The fact that this app is accurate more than 50% of the time is phenomenal, let alone the fact that probably 20 of the 30 something plants I’ve snapped have been correct. The more people that add photos and data to this app, the more accurate it will be! Do not expect perfection, but expect to be wowed at how wonderful it is. I highly recommend the tutorials on how to take the best photos for the app to best “read” the picture as well, they’re very helpful..Version: 1.31

The joy of learning on the hoofI walk with fellow dog walkers around the countryside of Wye Kent. Since Wye College closed and the land has become organic we are enjoying the return of birds and wildflowers. We are all in our 70’s and are looking forward to Plant Snap identifying our floral discoveries for us this year!.Version: 2.01.17

Amazing!Actually works I was sceptical but am now keen to try this on more varied plants in the field. I wish I had this app when I was at horticulture college for plant Ident class !.Version: 2.01.13

Plant ChatI like it a lot but wish it would access my photos..Version: 2.02.03

Exotics Accurately IdentifiedIdentifying a menu of plants, especially in the tropics where I live, takes years of acquired knowledge, so I don’t expect much from these apps. Watched the instructional video and went through my image gallery to get some exotics’ names I kept forgetting. The app correctly identified them and had an option to save them with their proper names. I will use this one a lot! Much better than others I’ve tried. UPDATE: The app even successfully identified a fungus for me! This is the BEST app! It identifies life from other kingdoms, lol! Maybe I’ll give it a try with animals!!! :).Version: 1.26

Wow! Identified immediatelyI found a plant while weeding and thought it was pretty so I looked up an app to take a picture and identify it. I found PlantSnap and tried it. Wow the first suggestion was correct. I double checked their answer and it was dead on. I’m impressed..Version: 1.24

Not a 100% success rateMade in total 10 pictures of 5 flowers and the hit rate was 3 out of 5 . As these were pot plants available in any garden center I would rate this result (75%) as low. I can only hope that is will get better over time ad I bought this App twice. For my wife and myself..Version: 1.31

I wouldn’t purchase this yet. Still needs a lot of work!I wouldn’t purchase this yet knowing what I know now!!! I purchased this a few weeks ago as I thought it a great idea. However I find that a lot of the wild British plants are not recognised whether you try identifying them with the flower or leaf modes! And then if you try saving one that has been identified the app freezes!! If you send a snap off to be identified by their ‘botanists’ you never receive feedback!.Version: 1.21

What an amazing app!I love using this app. It’s fast, intuitive and accurate. Such a pleasure to use this as I’m walking along in springtime... finding out all the plants that are around us. My 9 year old son is learning alongside me..Version: 3.00.11

Best so farIf someone offers you a plant, it's important to know what you are getting into. The app loads so quickly and determines your flowers in no time..Version: 1.24

Wonderful companion for walking in nature or parksLove it thank you.Version: 4.00.15

Fantastic from the startI have several cactuses, gourds, squashes, and succulents in my house, so this really helped me figure out what they’re called and how to take professional care of them, and also some of their uses. I am quite satisfied..Version: 1.24

Not soThe first time I used this app, it was spot on. The last three flowers I’ve tried to identify hasn’t worked for some reason. If I experience further failure I will delete the app. Just read your response. I know how to point my camera and take a picture and zoom the best leaf or flower shot. It still couldn’t identify the plants. I sent them to you and no response was heard. Don’t worry I’ve identified two plants now by visiting B&M..Version: 1.33

A useful tool in the toolbox of identification. No it is not perfect, but it still very helpful as yet another way to identify plants. I look forward to its ongoing development, as it will only get better. Well done developers. The first positive identification I made saved me the cost of the app in time..Version: 1.20

A few problems but really greatI love this app. As a plant person, I really appreciate the idea. Although it doesn’t always work, people have to understand that this is a new app and it will need time to grow and better itself. Every time you look up a plant and find correct matches, you are helping the system become familiar with more and more plants. I totally think it’s worth the money because they are doing something other apps haven’t done. I use this app every day and am excited to see how it “grows” haha ❤️🌱. One suggestion is to let users save plants they’ve manually searched. So far all I can save are the ones I’ve used the photo search..Version: 1.22

Better than I expectedI downloaded this app with lots of scepticism and I have to say I’m impressed. I work in a Garden Centre and thought I’d really put it to the test, we have a huge supply of plants, shrubs and trees. Of 19 pictures taken, it came back with 16 correct, NOT 100% because I wasn’t expecting the plant species and type, but 16 correct species is a good outcome, I think our customers may benefit from its use..Version: 1.24

A great asset on a bush walkI love being able to identify the so many native shrubs, flowers, trees that I come across on my bush walks. I also appreciate being able to check the names and origin of introduced species. It is handy, quick and portable!.Version: 4.00.15

More than imaginationI did not know what was going to happen that inspired me to grow a lot of new plants, strolling around the park to shoot and shoot so much. Pretty suddenly the app is always accurate, even with young trees.Version: 1.33

What's not to like!?Many of the plant I photograph are found easily on the app, especially if you use the narrow search..Version: 1.24

Much better now !I bought this app about three years ago. At the time, I thought that it was OK, but not great. So, I set it aside and didn’t use it much until recently. I was happily surprised that it has become very good, excellent in fact. I look forward to playing with it a lot more now😀.Version: 4.00.1

IncredibleCompletely flawless in execution. I went into this sceptical that it could fulfil the promise but it’s succeeded in recognising every plant I’ve tried so far. You simply point your camera at the flower and hold still as the app does it’s magic. It detects the flower with a circle around it. Tapping on it activates the search for the plant type. The app then offers a list of potential matches down to specific type, beyond just the plant family. With the extra info the results page shows you can find your plant. It’s so simple but incredibly effective. Highly recommended!.Version: 2.00.2

ImprovingWhen this app came out I bought it but was very disappointed . So many obviously wrong suggestions. It is however improving. I look forward to when I can give it five stars.Version: 2.02.01

Happy botanistI am a Science Teacher with ecological publications and a thesis on an endangered plant. I spent years identifying plants and I am quite adept. I love this app. This app is not perfect - but until we have much better AI powering it - it cannot be. This app is a great and simple tool. You must be sure to take a good picture of the plant and you must observe the fine points of identifying the plant - reading the descriptions of the plants and making sure everything matches well. It would be ideal if the descriptions pointed out the key distinguishing features of each species. Sometimes the picture is a perfect match to the wrong species - but it would be difficult to figure that out from the limited descriptions. I still give the app 5 stars because perfection is a crazy expectation. The app works far better than one should expect. I do think it is getting better, and I hope they keep improving the descriptions with key identification features. It would also be ideal if you could add additional observation such as the habitat (disturbed ground, forest, field, wetland, etc), other neighboring species, and add specific features like stem shape, distinct smells, sap features, or other features generally not easily captured in a picture. Keep making it better! Thank you!.Version: 2.02.01

Lucien GagnonLe site c’est grandement amélioré..Version: 2.01.28

Epic FailEven when I put all the effort in to get the circles for flowers & leaves it flat out miss identifies everything except flowers in full bloom. 0% hit rate on leaves. 0% hit rate on flowers in partial bloom. 0% hit rate on flower buds. 20% hit rate on flowers in full bloom..Version: 2.01.1

I apologizeSorry for previous bad review. It WAS the wrong app. I do not know how a plant identifier ap(garden questions) appeared when I specifically had tried to download PlantSnap because my husband read something about it and I am always looking for apps to identify plants I do not know. I tried it this morning with a picture already on my phone and I do like this app. It is very user friendly and I will add to my review on a day when it is not raining and I can play with it further. Again. My apologies. I am not sure how that other app got on my phone but PlantSnap was also on and this was the one I paid for. Other app must have spammed me somehow..Version: 1.29

So helpfulJust bought a few acres in Brisbane, Australia and the old bloke spent the last 40 years planting random plants everywhere. So far the app has nailed 5 out of the 5 flowering plants I’ve tried. Couldn’t identify a big-leafed plant but not too worried. This app will save me hours on the web trying to self identify. Would recommend!!.Version: 2.01.10

Extremely helpfulI found this app extremely helpful and write on the market every time I have used it. Recommend it to anyone..Version: 2.01.1

ImpressiveI’ve snapped half a dozen plants around the tropical garden in northern Australia. All identified in first or second pick. One was from just leaves and berries. Very impressive. Getting a good photo is key..Version: 1.22

Gift from the godsI've managed to identify several plants in my garden and have only just begun. Thank you! At last an app for we who like to live outdoors..Version: 1.16

Amazing App for any plant lover!I absolutely love this app and cannot say enough good things about it. I love walking through different botanical gardens, greenhouses, or even just hiking, and now when I’m curious about a plant, or just think it looks interesting I can use Plant Snap! Not only does this let me look back on the plant later, but I also learn a lot of information about it. However I do have one improvement that would make the app even better. Because I love plants so much, I own several and was so happy that I could organize them online on Plant Snap. However I wish there was a section that talked about plant care specifically for that pant you take a picture of. I know this is a monumentally huge task given how many plants are in the system, but my primary use for the app is for organizing plants I grow myself. It would be really beneficial to learn growing technics (how difficult, how much water/sunlight, etc) for the plants you snap. Often times I’ll snap a plant in the wild and want to buy it from a nursery but I’ll have to leave the app and google the information instead of it being presented within the app. Overall though this is an amazing app and I am very happy with my purchase! Thank you so much for creating this app and continue to release amazing updates 🌱.Version: 2.00

Life Saver! It's a great app that relies on machine learning and the more people who use it, the more accurate it is. Share it with your friends..Version: 1.24

I could make you app betterLotsa room for improvement.Version: 4.00.10

ImpressiveI’ve tested this app on a pretty wide range of Scottish wildflowers. I’m impressed. So far it’s returned an impressive success rate, far better than any similar app. This looks like a technology close to being really useful for a range of users. The better the image, the more accurate the result. The price is surprisingly low. Continuing to test this app and the more I use it the more impressed I am. I have lots of experience photographing flowers for identification so perhaps I’m capturing more salient features than other reviewers. So far, I’m delighted with not a single instance where the app hasn’t returned the correct family at the very least and most often an accurate id. I don’t know whether the app uses location info as part on the process, if not this might make it even better..Version: 1.36

WowI was dubious about this so took a pick of my pear tree and BAM it identified it.Version: 2.01.1

Incredible app and has great potential to improvePLEASE READ and consider my suggestions I am a microbiologist and plant geneticist. Improvements: Disease identification: almost all plants at some point in their life will suffer from an infection. Your app could have the capabilities to identify these disease/sickness and provide solutions for the user. Identifying differences within the same species: identifying different gene expression/phenotype with a species by categorizing what the differences look like would be incredibly very valuable. Capability of Exporting lists: It would be beneficial if there was a capability to start projects/list for categorizing specific varieties of plants or regions of plants. To then export that list of varieties to an excel file would be fantastic. Imagine having a list titled with a gps location. You could designate the surrounding plants to this gps location due to the list title. This has great implications for your app. Species pronunciation: I am unfamiliar with a large amount of species I find in nature and I find their scientific names difficult to pronounce. Please install a pronunciation button for all species scientific names. Thank you for building this app. I hope you consider my suggestions. Please reach out if you are interested in more feedback or want to expand on any of these suggestions’ implications..Version: 2.01.22

Passed the first test with flying coloursI have just bought and tried this app for the first time and must say that I am very impressed with its accuracy. Okay so I did only test it on the plants that I have growing in my apartment, which to be fair are popular, commonly grown species. The results however spoke for themselves with the PlantSnap app having correctly identified ALL SIX plants namely a ZZ plant, a Dracaena fragrans, a Ctenanthe amabilis, a Ficus elastica, an Aloe vera plant and an African mask plant. Well done to the developers. I look forward to using PlantSnap to help me identify more obscure, rarely encountered plants in the field. Fingers crossed I am successful..Version: 2.01.8

Savage! The app works pretty great. A few misses but overall fascinating tech and totally worth the money. If I were being honest I would give this app a 4/5, but after reading some of these responses I can’t help but bump them up to perfection. You guys are SAVAGE when it comes to complaints without merit😂 it’s nice to see a company who stands by their product and will call people out when they refuse to follow protocol. Sooo many brown nosers these days offering copy/paste apologies. As someone in the service industry, I know first-hand that the customer is not always right. It takes courage/confidence to go against that principle. Respect!.Version: 2.01.5

No need for anything elseThis is a great app. It can't work miracles and can't identify all flowers, but it has already helped me identify quite a few..Version: 1.24

My greening thumb.Very new to gardening. Always lived in cities and never thought I would have a garden to cultivate. I now do and have found this application to be fantastic for being able to see, snap and save the flowers, trees or plants that I have liked while about in the neighbourhood. It gives and saves the location of the photo should you ever want to reaffirm your lust for the plant as well vital information about growth habit, soils etc etc. Haven’t even moved into the new house and garden, but am loving the app for everything it is giving me to create something wonderful..Version: 2.01.15

I love this appBrilliant work from these developers. It is easy to use and the results are returned quickly. Very accurate info. Brilliant work!!!.Version: 2.01.10

Excellent resultsFinally a way to find plants without going thru thousands of pictures and scientific names to find what I'm looking for and someone to ask questions too. Such a time saver..Version: 1.24

So much fun!Downloaded this today before we went for a walk. It’s fall here and most plants are barren of fruits, flowers or leaves. However we were still able to positively identify a bunch of different berry bushes and evergreen species. The app told us about whether they were edible or not, medicinal uses of the plant and specific features for positively identifying them. The experience sparked research and discussion among my family and a confidence in knowing what plants are growing all around us. I would highly recommend this to all of my friends. I like the features it has and look forward to further development and precision of the app..Version: 1.11

Now I know!Love being able to identify the world around me!.Version: 2.01.27

Fantastic! Australian natives identified. Can’t believe how accurate this has been. I hesitated to purchase due to a few bad reviews about Aussie performance, but I’m convinced failures are due to not following instructions. It’s worked for me every time. Great work..Version: 2.02.05

A must for beginner and advanced gardenersI asked my husband to get a Cherimoya tree and he assured me that's what he got yet kept calling it a Soursop. I said it's not the same thing. After using your app I have now determined that he bought the wrong tree. Disappointed but now I know for sure. Your app is so fast and easy to use. Thanks a million!.Version: 1.24

PlantSnap is wonderfulWhen travelling I always want to be able to identify what I see. PlantSnap allows me to identify and record the plants and flowers that I find with excellent accuracy. I highly recommend this as a great example of a scientific cloud sourced data analysis tool. The more people who contribute examples the better the recognition becomes!.Version: 2.01.20

Much better now.Good AI is hard. I’m in Australia and in our gardens we have a variety of species along side the natives. I bought this app to teach me the name of shrubs I saw that interested me. In my previous review I found the app wanting. Now I want more :) - Now when I’m about to take a photo it recognizes whether it’s a flower before I take the picture - helping me position my pictures which is really important to help the AI along - which in turn improves my results. ... and the key thing... the matches are working. My Australian natives and other items are matching - and I’m learning... which is exactly what I wanted from this app. The next ‘feature’ would be to link me to nurseries that sell seeds or public gardens that might further specialize in the plants that I have an interest in... But knowing their names empowers me to start doing those things myself - thanks PlantSnap..Version: 2.01.0

Love this appI use this now every time that question is asked - what is that plant. So much easier now to find out..Version: 3.00.29

Fun and informative!I downloaded this app because I moved into a new house in a new area, and wondered what was in my yard! after a few mess ups, (I will admit I did not watch the tutorial, but I will), I got it right! and for all the people complaining, get over it, it says accept or decline so you can be sure it’s the right plant, as a ton of plants look alike! I especially liked where i could send in my photo to a botanist for identifying, that was an unexpected awesome thing! I’m definitely going to fully enjoy the next walk around my woods, so thank you, plantsnap, for taking the mystery out of my yard!.Version: 1.24

Great appAs a gardener it's good to know what kind of weed you are dealing with and what kind of new flower has just sprung up in your garden. If you are like me you love to buy bags of wild flower seeds and this is a great app. This is also a great way to keep your garden safe from invasive species..Version: 1.24

Glad it was only $4.00So I got taken, shame on me. I was so eager to start using this app until I realized it will name a plant whatever comes to mind. On the first few snaps I just thought maybe I was wrong just because I wasn’t sure if I knew the correct name of a particular plant. So I decided to snap pictures of plants that I’ve been growing for years and know for certain what they are. So I snapped the same plant in two different locations on my property and received two totally different answers...both of which were completely wrong. The actual plant is Wisteria, but it came back first as Eastern poison ivy then again from another location as an Ash Tree, REALLY? Maybe the developer can make a better app in the future, but for now this truly is a waste of time and money. Sorry for the bad review, but maybe it will help in the development of a better app in the future..Version: 1.33

Big fan!Technology has been taking over and I vowed to get out more in fresh air as a way to rebel against this robot culture. However, artificial intelligence isn’t all bad. It’s been adding an extra level of excitement to my walks and now I have a new relationship to nature I wouldn’t have had access to otherwise. Thank you PlantSnap! Wonderful idea..Version: 1.11

Before You Buy This App...Know exactly what you want and WHAT YOU’RE GETTING. All the bad reviews are coming from people that didn’t understand and don’t like the mission of the app which appears to be to document all plants on Earth through collaborative effort of nature lovers. Keep in mind, I’ve had this app for 5 minutes. The app developers seem big on ONLY taking pictures of plants in their prime state of ‘ripeness.’ Which is not, honestly, terribly realistic in my opinion. Especially since the people using this app are people trying to identify plants not document plants. I, however, am happy to do both. I like that it’s realistic about the options of plants you might have on your hands. It does sometimes (usually from what I’m reading?) require your own extra research to confirm whether or not the identification is correct. That is just how these things work. There is no app that will tell you exactly what you have unless what you have is SUPER common AND distinct. In which case, you probably don’t need an app to identify it. Be aware. Be smart. Have fun!!.Version: 1.33

WonderfulThis APP is anything but pathetic, (as one user has described it). I have had successful and correct idents on almost every photo I’ve taken, though the right answer isn’t necessarily the first suggestion offered by this great app... probably because the photo in question isn’t always ideal, or isn’t taken in the way/format directed by the APP creators. This type of software hasn’t been around for very long and is already so clever it astounds me. So of course it isn’t perfect... yet! But wow, it is getting better and more accurate all the time. Walks on the wild side are getting to be even more fun. Thank you to all at PlantSnap.Version: 2.00.4

It helps me a lotVery handy for identifying unknown plants. Just whip out your phone anytime and flash flash, got the information you need after minutes. I just love the way this app works, that’s all. Got me curious every time.Version: 2.01.7

Excellent and professionally usefulI’m a horticulturalist and landscape designer in Melbourne, Australia... I was dubious of this app as I had tried other similar apps. However this one has been nailing all the rare plants and natives I showed it, to this date it hasn’t got 1 wrong and I’ve used it at the plant fairs and collectors corner as well as in the field. 11 out of 10 if I could..Version: 2.01.2

Plant snapI am a learning Gardner and this App is working very well been going round garden centres to check that the results are coming up as they should be and not all but the majority are so I’m very happy.Version: 2.01.15

Poor identifierNo matter how I try with many different angles excluding all else, this app rarely gets it right. Not just not getting it right but suggesting stuff that is way off. A free app I have mostly does get it right without the fiddle of trying different angles etc...so not sure what algorithm is being used here but it is surely lacking..Version: 2.01.2

Enjoying trying this app in my garden!Has helped me identify some strangers but got a couple wrong😕.Version: 1.12

A Delightful AppThis app is absolutely phenomenal! I am currently working on my first year of plant studies in my high school botany-prep class, and this app works wonders! Yes, of course it is not 100% accurate, but then again, it removes all instances of human error, so the ONLY ways that it could mistake a plant would be that, for one, the photographer could be doing a not-so-great job at capturing the plant, or that the database has little instances of the plant. The only way to cure that? Continue to use the app! As thousands of people continuously take pictures of plants and post them here, looking for an answer to their questionable identification, the software will only get better! Practice makes perfect, of course, and no human botanist can start off naming every species of haworthia, so why expect that from a machine MADE by humans? Not everyone is perfect, nor is every software. No offense to the creator(s), of course, as I am sure they will agree. I am very grateful that this application was taken time on, perfected, and released in a finished state. Some apps of this nature cannot state the same, sadly. Again, thank you for spending the time to create this app, and, to all of you that doubt or slander this creation, give it a chance. It might just surprise you. 😉.Version: 2.01.12

Excellent.I read all of the reviews that said it doesn’t work. I also noticed that there weren’t a lot of 3 star reviews. Only people who said that it worked perfectly and people that it didn’t work for. I took into account the number of Darwin Award candidates I meet daily and decided to give it ago. I took pictures of 4 semi rare plants that are in my yard that could easily be confused for other things. It got all 4 correct. It’s pretty simple. If you can follow the very simple directions it seems to work a strong majority of the time. If you can’t.....then you probably have bigger problems than identifying plants in the first place..Version: 1.30

ApBrilliant Ap it really works 👍.Version: 2.00.4

Recognised 80% plants in my Aussie backyardUnfortunately it doesn’t work well with leaves in my experience - works best with flowers. I really wanted to identify two creepers that have just started growing - as yet there a no flowers so it doesn’t recognise them at all. But I’m sure it will continue to learn over time. This app will keep getting better as more people use it! Also they need to make it easier to zoom on the photos in the database so you can confirm a match easier! I had to do a google search for a few to get better comparison photos..Version: 1.13
