Beorg: To-Do List & Agenda for Positive User Reviews

Data loss is breaking trustI love this app and I am very happy that it is here and there are great things about it but... This app keeps losing my text input when I switch apps to copy text from another one! It does a refresh when I switch back and then dumps my input Other note taking and text editing apps do not behave this way Why is it using so much memory that it can't survive app switching when other apps can? Will you prioritize background memory usage optimization or at least cache text input so it isn't lost? The real ux miss here is that you can't save what you've written without losing context. The app provides no in-place save and it also does not auto-save!!! If you are editing something and save it the item is filed away and you have to go dig it back up which is a huge flow disruption so that's not workable I am finding myself copying any unsaved text to drafts before app switching and then copying it back and that can't stand This is not cool I added stars because I really want to see more org support on this platform. I know this is a small team and it pains me to say anything negative about such an amazing effort but I have been paying a subscription for a long time and this reliability stuff seems like table stakes and I think it's fair to expect I'm going to keep using this and I think anyone reading this should use it too but be careful about potential weird data loss and copy any big edits you make to be safe!.Version: 3.13.0

Been waiting for this!Thank you! So happy to have this. Already made an in-app donation. Keep up the awesome work!.Version: 1.4

Amazing orgmode companionThis app really gets things right and has actually changed how I use orgmode. The only thing I would ask for if I had to is addition of customizable org-capture templates. But regardless, this app is great and I hope it keeps working for years to come..Version: 1.4

Best todo appI have used this app a few mouths, it’s really useful for whom also use Emacs. Although it lack of some features that Emacs has, but it’s still very useful..Version: 3.3.0

Excellent start bringing org-mode content in easy reachAs long time user of org-mode all of my important organizational work is stored in .org files in the cloud. This app makes that content immediately available on all my iOS devices. Sure there are enhancements that I’d like to see (e.g. drawer support, that stuff is hidden for a reason) but it’s an excellent start. But don’t expect all .org-mode functionality and elisp modifications to be available. This isn’t emacs. But making all my .org content available in iOS this is awesome!.Version: 2.10.0

A brilliant complement to org-modeThis app is a wonderful complement to org-mode. I love how it is also able to include calendar entries from other areas so that I can see my agenda all in one place. Update (181124): I should also mention that when all I have is my phone, being able to enter todos feels like the closest thing to C-c C-c.Version: 2.5.0

My Favorite AppHands down my favorite app on my iPhone. I am a heavy org-mode user but I do not believe that is 100% necessary to find this app useful. If you are willing to learn and configure (especially if you enjoy doing that stuff), this app will allow you to eliminate several apps on your phone. Beorg serves as my calendar, journal, shopping list, and generally just the place where i jot down random thoughts in my head (for future writing/poetry/reading). All of it is organized as simple plain text files and synced synced using Dropbox. As i notice recurring use-cases (e.g. books to read list), Beorg allows me to setup template to quickly capture them from my home screen. The url scheme also allows me to link this to a shortcut (e.g. im reading on my kindle, copy some text that i find inspiring, run a shortcut that places that text in todays journal entry) I could go on and am forgetting so many things. But as I said, my most-used app. absolutely wonderful and i am very satisfied. More than just a “display org agenda on my iphone” app. Scott.Version: 3.6.2

A promising mobile solution at lastThe mobile org options are sorrily lacking at this time, and I’m happy that this app exists. The 5 star review is generous in that there are some IMO essentials that need to get added (search, full repeat support), but what’s here now is good, useful, and the trajectory is promising. Happy to offer a good review and buy the in-app tip to help get it there..Version: 2.1.0

AmazingIf it can add more features. It will be better..Version: 1.4

Made org-mode work for meThis was what I needed to make org-mode fully work for my uses. It could use more org features but it’s already great!.Version: 2.14.2

Needs Dropbox subdirectoriesI want to 5 star this app but one missing feature of Dropbox subdirectory support is holding me back. If subdirectory recursion isn’t an option the ability to explicitly specify multiple Dropbox directories would be great..Version: 2.2.0

My org-mode files have never been so usefulI’ve been using gnu emacs since 1986 and org mode for a few years. Until I found beorg, my org files always felt somewhat removed from actually planning my day. Beorg lets me keep my org data and plans in my pocket at all times and thus has vastly increased the usefulness of org for me. I would love to see this project flourish..Version: 2.8.0

Beorg is lifeI don’t know how I lived my life before I discovered org-mode. I don’t know how I used org-mode before I discovered this app. My iPhone screen is just a single “beorg” icon now..Version: 3.4.0

Amazing! If you could add OneDrive sync, then I will not have to use Dropbox. Irrespective of this, this is amazing app which helps me use emacs on my MacBook and Linux desktop while making sure I don’t miss anything important while I am on mobile devices..Version: 3.0.1

Fantastic app for Org usersI really love the app, thank you for your work, it helps me in ton of ways, hope this amazing work wont be abandoned. Im adding a lot via the sharing center, any way to add tags to the sharing dialog?.Version: 2.6.0

Best MOBILE OrgMode appDespite of the very small number of target users, the develop team has actually put much effort into the app - the best mobile OrgMode app EVER. BUT, I still want to require more features from the dev team: instead of the complex features provided by OrgMode, please considering introducing a simple to implement subdirectories at first. Also, as OrgMode users are mostly programmers, can you introduce git based version controls as well? Would like to contribute my effort into the developing and testing of this app, if it helps to speed up feature development..Version: 1.4

Extremely promisingThis is a much better solution than mobileorg! Not fully featured but it does what it does well..Version: 1.4

Keeps getting better with each updateIt’s great when an app actually meets expectations. I’d like a dark mode personally that’s less “in your face”. But the rest is just a terrific, stable app that stays out of your way. I really like the developer’s “value for value” mentality..Version: 2.2.0

Perfect for org usersI have never written a review or even rated an app before, but this app is perfect. It’s so easy to setup syncing between org files on mobile and pc. This app is even great for user who have no idea what org is. The calendar and reminder integration is great. I recommend this app to everyone, especially org users..Version: 3.10.2

Easy to use with lots of functionalityI am a big fan of Beorg. To start you can just use it as a simple todo list but it offers so much functionality that you can shape it to whatever you want. For example, I was able to create a kanban board using the powerful sorting and grouping tools in search. Like emacs, this app offers a lot of power..Version: 3.12.0

Fantastic appBeorg is simply one of the most valuable apps I have on my phone. I’m grateful to the developer for not only filling the need for an org-mode app but making one that does the job brilliantly. I’m looking forward to the new extensions coming up..Version: 2.3.0

Impressed by the new editing functionality!Wow! Beorg was already used for for reviewing files on the go and capturing to do items, but the new editing functionality is impressive. I’ll still use Emacs from the computer as my main editor, of course, but it’s good to know that I can edit when I need to from my phone or tablet..Version: 2.0

Just what I neededFinally have a proper solution to work with my org files on my phone. Kudos..Version: 2.15.0

Just needs more sync alternatives :)Org mode on iPhone! And it’s good! :O I hope more sync options become available as iCloud isn’t available on Linux and Dropbox recently introduced a limit on the number of synced devices so it’s a bit limited now.Version: 2.14.0

The perfect mobile referenceSince adopting org-mode I’d been eager to find a solution that would let me check my Agenda on the go and add items for triage once I was back at a terminal. Beorg accomplishes that with aplomb..Version: 1.4

Great appVery good app for accessing org files on mobile.Version: 2.1.0

SatisfyingSo far works satisfactory for my purpose of accessing and occasionally update my .org file in the cloud with Dropbox.Version: 2.7.0

Awesome org-mode integrationI primarily use Emacs org-mode to organize my life. Having all the power of org-mode on my phone — as well as integration with my desktop Emacs — is a total game changer. I’m a fan..Version: 3.0.1

Awesome use of org modeThe app makes a wonderful organization tool. I just wish the developers would create a macOS version so that I can stay organized across all my devices - a key feature of any organization tool is that it is available on whatever device you are on right now..Version: 3.6.1

Org mode user? Stuck on iPhone? This is for you.Exactly what's you're looking for if you're big on org mode..Version: 2.9.0

Thank you!A lot of work has gone into this app and it is continually improving. Without this app I don't think I'd be able to base my productivity system on org..Version: 3.12.0

Labor of loveThis is a very esoteric app for an esoteric mode of a program. This is not a criticism but instead the opposite. Putting something like this together was not only exactly what I needed but not something in high enough demand to normally get attention. Great appreciation to the dev for both putting this together and continuing to build functionality. It has its limits but works for exactly what it should be and gets better with each update. Love it..Version: 1.4

Best org mode iOS programI’ve compared this to the other org mode programs and it is far ahead of them. The Plainorg program does a nicer job rendering a single file but has no capability to show an agenda, easily refile, clock tasks etc. Speaking of refiling, I don’t see a good way in beorg to refile directly to a heading. I’m also still struggling figuring out how to handle sub folders with iCloud syncing but overall, a great program..Version: 3.20.4

Incomplete functionality, but very nice core featuresDoes a great job with basic org-mode functionality, works very smoothly with Dropbox, and has some really nice automatic integrations with iphone apps (reminders, calendars, etc). I do sincerely miss a few features, `org-refile` being by FAR the most important. Parsing file-specific properties, such as custom TODO headings, would also be an important improvement for my usage. Still, this is the best iOS app I’ve tried for viewing and editing my org-mode files and agenda on the go..Version: 3.8.1

Some drawbacks1. Item in notification center doesn’t disappear even after marking the TODO item as DONE in the app 2. Can’t render the org-mode tables 3. Absence of subfolders 4. Awkwardness in scrolling up the screen (scrolls smoothly at first, but quickly at last).Version: 3.4.0

Much better than beforeBeorg is a really good app for both outlining and org mode agendas. It has improved a lot since I last used It a few years back..Version: 2.14.0

Great alternativeI loved TrunkNotes, and used it for many years. I was sad to see the developer had discontinued supporting it. Really glad to see this new app from the same developer. Just as TrunkNotes is a different kind of notes app, Beorg is a different kind of agenda/task app. I downloaded the app and purchased all the extensions immediately to support the developer, although the basic app is free and works perfectly well. TrunkNotes is brilliant, and I'm hoping to see the new app develop along interesting lines..Version: 2.10.0

SolidBest org-mode client for iOS I’ve come across so far..Version: 3.8.0

Amazing! This app was my gateway drug to emacs. I’m not joking when I say it’s changed my life for the better. I’m a first year computer science PhD student and I was juggling all sorts of ways of keeping notes, papers, todos etc, and I was constantly getting stressed out because info wasn’t where I thought it was. Now I have one .org file for my phd work, one for my personal projects, and one for my other “todos”. I’ve been using this system for around 4 weeks and it’s actually helped me focus on getting things done rather than faffing around with productivity tools. It takes a couple of days to get used to org-mode and emacs in general, but it is absolutely worth it..Version: 2.11.1

After few years of usage…Beorg is an excellent app for managing my daily life and work tasks. As an org-mode user, it fills the gap for mobile needs and has greatly improved my productivity. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for orgmode in mobile task management solution..Version: 3.20.0

Love itBest organization app ever.Version: 3.21.0

Only keeps getting betterMany thanks to the developer. Always looking forward to checking out updates coming with amazing new features..Version: 2.15.0

Very worthwhileI'm a pragmatic org-mode user. I love it, but I have my phone handy more that I have emacs open on a computer. I keep my org files on drop box so I can refer to them as text files. I use the drafts.app to capture text notes as org entries to a recipe.org file. I've used the org trello lisp package to see todos in the trello app. Beorg supports Dropbox and replaces my need for drafts and trello. It also makes my agenda files Usable in a way they weren't through others apps. Sure there are Some missing features, but I still rate it 4 stars. If it had a search function I'd give it 5. There are many things this app might do, but in its current state it's free and worthwhile. If you know what org-mode is, then you should try this app..Version: 1.1.1

SuggestionCan we please have more note taking support like media import etc?.Version: 3.10.2

Works really wellThis is an excellent app. I find it much easier to use than the other one. It is reliable and the calendar integration is great. Excellent job. Look forwards to seeing this develop..Version: 1.4

Great app. Lots of possibilities. Major Flaws in saving. The app is unable to recover newly created note that was not save explicitly when you switch to other application. NO sync is done or no temporary file is saved. I have lost lots of notes because of that..Version: 3.10.2

A great startApp is still in its early days but it already enables me to do what I needed the most: creating todos to refile later and reading existing files. Maybe next feature could be changing existing TODOs state? *hint* *hint* :-) EDIT: actually the TODO state change feature is there already 👌👌.Version: 1.1.1

Well thought outIf you ever tried to write an org mode parser you realize that it’s a fantastic beast that is very hard to develop a static implementation for it (there is just too much possibility). This app manages to sort that out. It leaves your files intact and just edits what matters. To top it off they implemented a lisp like scheme repl for customizing your own toolbar and editing preferences akin to a vim like modal editing. I love it so much. The last update added support for repeated events. Which was amazing. I wouldn’t be surprised if eventually they implement the whole org mode manual. Only thing left is the Apple Watch to get these features(view all notes, append to note. Prepend to note. Schedule note. If you can’t do that add a thing that could be like a scrap note that you can add to a note or headline later so you can keep all thoughts in app) Anyway super love the app. Keep up good work..Version: 2.10.0

Well designed appI left all other apps for this one. Still working on preparing server with emacs. Especially synchronization is very good..Version: 3.9.0

Thank you!Thank you for making this app 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 It completely changed the way I’m organizing my tasks..Version: 3.11.0

Design flaws are unfortunateI originally gave this a high rating. But had to knock it down. The app doesn’t handle lifecycle gracefully, which means if it is backgrounded you will often come back to find data you were entering gone. This is compounded by the fact that there is apparently no way to save work while within the editor. I paid for the time tracking add on, and would be willing to pay for a polished org-mode experience on iOS. But this still has some critical problems..Version: 3.5.3

Org mode on the goThe app is enjoyable so far. You can edit the files, set scheduled and deadline properties, and view agenda for the current week and the following one, all of this with a good and clear interface. Custom TODO keywords are also supported. The only shortcoming I have to deal with is the lack of syncing via git, but that’s not a dealbreaker, I’ve managed to add Dropbox syncing to my workflow..Version: 2.1.0

Best org file editor for iOSHighly recommend specially if you share the org files between OSX and iOS..Version: 2.11.1

Best way to implement GTD on iPhoneThis is an awesome project that stands alone as a full featured To Do app that continues to grow through thoughtful and communicative development. It is also fully compatible with and designed upon org mode in emacs. When put together this is the most flexible and coherent personal organization software I’ve found. I use it with an interpretation of the Getting Things Done method..Version: 3.7.3

Trailblazing orgmode and plaintext into the future!Beorg is fulfilling a need that continues to grow as people continually cave in to buying Apple machines. I will always recommend this software to everybody I know who writes text-driven content. Now that dev(s) have introduced extensions, I finally have the darkmode that I needed to make this app a daily driver. Can’t wait to see what comes next. Keep rolling out the features, and I’ll keep buying you coffee! ☕️.Version: 2.3.0

Great organization Todo appI'm tried a ton of to do apps, could stick to any of them. I'm not really in to emacs on PC either. But this app is great, I very much love how you setup this app, the flow of it and it's complex simplicity. Thanks..Version: 2.10.0

FantasticAfter using Things for a few years, I recently switched over to Orgmode to keep things plaintext. This app is what made me cut the Things cord. Fantastic in all respects..Version: 3.14.0

Impressed - But...I’m extremely impressed with how well this works, so far. I was not expecting this level of detail, nor was I prepared for this app’s full potential. I only wish they supported MEGA for cloud storage..Version: 2.13.0

Thanks! finally a sane org mode appThanks for saving us from the unnecessary complexity of mobileorg..Version: 2.1.0

Great text based organiser.Old skool nesting lists. Schedule reminders. Sync with Box to share your lists. Companion to emacs org-mode. This app can be used as a stand alone utility, like I do; if you don’t use emacs (mainly used by programmers). *** Feature Request *** Can agenda view be more than one week, please? Monthly, quarterly, annual; would be great. Would be willing to pay for an in-app purchase, for this..Version: 2.15.0

A very well rounded app. It’s pure functional. It works both as a todo manager and as a companion app. I can take both todo lists, but also capture thoughts and use Org as I do in emacs, without the emacs. It’s fun powerful and in many ways non intrusive. You won’t be bothered with ads, and no paywalled features. This app deserves some support. I wish more were like it..Version: 2.1.0

Would be better if it can support git integerationI mainly store my org files on github, it would be nice if it can support it..Version: 2.8.0

Thank you for bringing org mode to iOSI just have one request to bump to 5 stars: Multiple notification reminders (eg 10 and 30 minutes before).Version: 3.10.1

Good for org mode veterans and newbiesI’ve been waiting for this app for years. Thoughtful integration that adds sensible mobile-based features without sacrificing interoperability..Version: 3.6.2

Great app for Emacs diehardsI was a little skeptics about Beorg at first, honestly, the editing experience still feel a little weird because I was hoping to be able to type freely like on Emacs. But after actually use it for a while, this is now my unreplaceable app! Great work!.Version: 3.5.2

Great way to use orgmode on iOSIt seems like beorg would rewrite my files with its own formatting. I would edit them for readability on my desktop (adding blank lines to separate items from each other, etc.) then lose all that after beorg syncs. In other words, beorg seems to force on you the canonical textual representation of the org data it manages. I imagine the way around this would require a substantial refactor. (Something about Concrete/Lossless Syntax Trees?) This would not be an issue if I was only using beorg, but I also use desktop Spacemacs to work with the same data for example. NB: I am new to orgmode in general, I don’t know if having files auto-generated is a routine thing in this world, I sure hope not….Version: 3.1.0

Works your wayOnly “GTD” style app I’ve found that that doesn’t force you to work its way or present you with a steep learning curve before you can start while you’re already trying to get your work and life under control. Plus orgmode means you aren’t locked in to a proprietary database..Version: 3.18.1

Best ios app for editing, viewing org file. It’s not only free but also ad-freeReally love the UI designing of the outline..Version: 3.3.0

Amazing GTD APPAs a emacs user I have been waiting for a good org mode integration app. This does exactly that and more. You don’t have to be an emacs user to use this. It’s very simple and connects to your calendars so you can have a central place for the agenda..Version: 3.10.2

Easy to use with lots of powerI think anyone would find this an approachable and powerful todo list manager. If you are also an Emacs/orgmode user, it is absolutely amazing. Very flexible and powerful access to your .org files, with an interface that I find at least as easy and powerful and working in Emacs at my computer. Better yet, it is seeing steady updates and improvement. Happily subscribed and look forward to seeing it continue to evolve..Version: 3.2.0
