Got up early this morning to do a sunrise photo shoot, since Sky Candy’s prediction seemed pretty positive. Nope. The cloud cover is so high that the light is struggling to get through. It’s terribly inaccurate, 3 sunsets this last week were absolute stunners and it predicted them at around the 20% mark, same with 2 sunrises. ✓ Forecast doesn’t load. It worked for a couple weeks and now it’s broken, with no response from devs.App worked ok until the latest iOS update in late Feb 2022. Now the app opens, but the data doesn’t load. I put in a support ticket days and days ago with no response. So at this point I’m paying for an app I can’t use. Wish they’d get back to me. When the app works, it’s what you’d expect…..just inaccurate. I paid them 23 bucks to use the app for a year and I got 2 weeks out of it. That’s it. I wouldn’t recommend you spend your money. ✓ Inconsistent across devices and just plain doesn’t work!I downloaded this whilst in Northumbria hoping it would help me identify best days to get up early for sunrises etc. I use both iPhone and an ipad. Ignorance of using only 1 device is bliss maybe.....the iPhone and ipad never agreed for exactly the same locations. Completely inconsistent. Which do you believe, device 1 or device 2?.....one says 20% chance of a good sunrise, the other says 50% chance. What makes it worse and urguably the multi device issue redundant is that the prediction plain does not work in the first place! We have recently had some wonderful colour in the sky for both sunrises and sunsets......so i check my phone to see what the prediction is so that i may calibrate my expectations for future.....low and behold, beautiful sky = 15% quality in this app. Another attempt, amazing colour and drama =24% No solutions from the app designer........do not waste your money on this random number generator. ✓ So much for a weeks free trial?Sky candy is supposed to offer a free trial where you can cancel your subscription without penalty before the trial expiry. A few days in and I was debited 1 months subscription fee. I have since unsubscribed and am very disappointed with the dishonesty. ✓ Pretty uselessThis app you’d think would be a photographers dream, giving them a fairly good idea of when a decent sunrise or sunset is likely. In practice though as others have mentioned there’s too many occasions when this app will give you a score that completely contradicts what’s actual going on in the sky or it even contradicts itself in the description of the score saying in one sentence that the sky will be cloudless then in another sentence saying that there may be some nice colour for a while due to scattered cloud. Well which one is it?! Cloudless or scattered clouds?! You’d be mental to actually pay anything for this app let alone pay for ongoing subscription. ✓ Not useful for its intended purpose.I’ve been using this app for a few months now. It’s basically 100% wrong to the point that if it says there’s a low chance for a good sunrise or sunset, that means it will actually be spectacular and I should go to the mountains immediately. I have much better luck going outside and checking for altostratus clouds. If they are there, sunrise/sunset should be good. The app is so bad at projecting good sunrise/sunsets that I’ve actually started keeping side by side comparisons of the low probably and then the actual spectacular sky..Version: 2.5.3

Unless you pay a subscription you can only charge change the location once a day and you can only check the forecast 3 times a day, if the upgrade was a one off cost it would be worth it but it’s a monthly or annual subscription, other products like afterglow are far better value and don’t rely on the subscription..Version: 2.2.1

✓ Has proven not accurate in my areaThe app is rated at almost 4.5 stars which actually surprises me after using it for some weeks. I’ve had the app for almost a month, and I understand how completely unpredictable the weather is, however, in my area, there has been numerous beautiful sunsets/sunrises and each time the app has said there’s only a 20ish percent chance of a decent sunset/sunrise. The highest score I’ve recorded was 28%. It seems as though it is completely guessing. For example, there was some residual rain storms from one of the hurricanes in my area recently, the rain ended a few hours before sunset. These conditions can often be a decent indicator of a colorful sunset, so I checked the app and it said there was a 20% chance. Luckily I didn’t trust that, as the sky was incredible that night and I was able to capture some great photos. That being said, the app is well put together and easy to use. There are a couple other features that would be helpful, so for example if you need to know exactly what time the sun will be in a particular part of the sky, this app will tell you and that part is accurate. I really wanted to like the app, and perhaps it works better in other areas, however I have found it completely unreliable as far as choosing whether to go shoot photos or not..Version: 2.2.1

I was complaining to a younger family member about my app that doesn’t work & she immediately asked if it was sky candy!! She’s a samsung user & said it’s well known amongst her social set of all different types of phones etc that sky candy is no good. This app has so much potential it’s a shame that the developer can’t fix the multitude of problems. Even the contact/help is greyed out & doesn’t work!
