✓ After one week of using got stuck on…Got stuck on “on switch” on every web page after one week of use and had to delete the app because the options page wouldn’t even open. I have a lot of tech experience. I have programmed before. I have worked out kinks in websites with my old college tech support when they needed help. Could not figure out how to troubleshoot and get it to work even after deleting and reinstalling or turning it off and on in the safari extensions menu. The website still wouldn’t pull up and let me change the options to even see why it was stuck on so I couldn’t see any of my webpages because they were all greyed out when I have this app installed. Needs troubleshooting on the developers end and then I will update my review..Version: 4.4

✓ I only needed this extension for one thing...I wanted a way to make google docs go into dark mode so when I saw that google ITSELF, suggested this app, I was pretty intrigued to see if it would work. It did make my writing page go into a dark mode state which was great but the latency issues are TERRIBLE and make it impossible to type seriously. The extension seems to be broken; after installation an error message appeared ("service_worker encountered a problem" or something to that extent). ✓ FAIL on Support for SafariI bought this and installed it for Safari, specifically because of the 'Night Mode' mentioned in the first line of the description on this page. I discovered after paying my $3 and installing the app there was no way to access the 'Night Mode'. I checked the support site, and found instructions that were incorrect (there is no check-box to open the options), and which suggested that you had to re-start your browser every time you did this. There WAS a welcome page that opened upon first enabling the extension, which detailed all of the features I could not use, and which had a small slider in the "Night Mode" section of the page that did enable night mode - but only for that site. I have seen reviews here that the developer relpies to in broken English. The support website is similar - lote of poorly phrased instructions, some of which are just wrong. I now have a useful little feature for dimming my browser when watching a video (which is why this gets 2 stars instead of none) but I have uninstalled it because I have no use for it. I should gave given it 1 star - it's been a waste of time and money. I'd advise other users who use Safari for browsing not to buy this app, unless you only want the most basic features. My advice to the developer is to stop charging money for this or marketing it to Safari users, or fix the extension so it works properly in Safari as advertised, with the sort of access to options you provide in other browsers, without having to restart. You should also stop your support website from crashing, and make sure your support documents actually provide the correct instructions..Version: 1.0.7

✓ Disappointed - Misleading - Not what I expected!I downloaded the extension because when using dark mode on the Mac and searching on Google, it can be blinding, especially at night. I thought this would work, but it doesn't. It seems like this extension is mainly for websites with videos, which is disappointing. Turn off the lights DOES NOT WORK on youtube. The button does NOTHING. In my previous macbook that had Mojave mac os on it and Safari 13, I thought the problem was a conflict between turn off the lights extension, and my ad blocker extension. However, I have a brand new macbook 16" with catalina and Safari 13, and turn off the lights DOES NOT WORK AT ALL, even if I disable ALL other extensions in Safari. ✓ Pop Ups in SafariThe main website for this app popped up automatically when i was browsing earlier. I don't believe any app should do this. The functionality is terrible and it doesn't really work. The pages are still too bright. I recommend something else. Edit: developer responded but it does not fix the problem i was having. The pages still show too brightly even after the settings are adjusted. Also, the auto pop-up problem wasn't addressed. ✓ Barely functional and overall pointlessAll this app does is darken everything on the website, which end up being the same as just turning down your device brightness. On top of that whenever you scroll the entire screen flickers between the normal brightness and the darkened version. It would be more accurate to say that Turn Of The Lights displays each web page as if you'd turned the brightness of your screen down just for the page and not the rest of your Mac. For a screen dimming extention!? Upon gong to uninstall the app my curser wouldn't load and I got a notification saying my computer detected the extention was blocking my curser so it wasn't turned on "thank god". ✓ This is not a browser night modeOK, So it should be pretty apparent by the images but i downloaded it and tried it just to confirm my suspicions. This does nothing to the look of your browser. At all. It does however utilize what I would imagine is some CSS trickery to change the design of the webpage you’re looking at and darken the colors of the website. I guess this would be better described as a webpage night-mode simulator, as it simulates a night mode for the individual site. In my book, a browser night mode doesn’t change the website at all, but changes the browser; ie the grey at the top, the tabs bar, the favorite menu, the bookmarks drawer… all the pieces that are part of the browser running locally, not any of the content it has requested. I can see how some people might want this, but this is definitely NOT a browser dark mode..Version: 1.0.2
