AmazingPersonally find this app incredible. The only thing I wish (and I hope the developer helps me if I’m wrong) is that it didn’t get rid of my blur from the portrait mode itself. Hopefully I’m just missing something, but other than, I love the app.Version: 1.0.2

Pretty darn cool!I gave this app a shot based on a whim. I randomly will play with photos I’ve taken with editing and decided to give this app a shot. It may be limited a little now but doesn’t mean it won’t be in the future. Biggest gripe for myself currently is not being able to control the direction of the lighting. Also noticed that the only portrait photos it allows me to edit are the ones taken on my new iPhone X. Ones I took on my iPhone 7 Plus.... I get an error message that it can’t open it. Get those two fixed. I’ll switch my rating to a 5!.Version: 1.0.2

Amazing at editing lighting on portrait photosI think the app description makes it clear, but seems like quite a few reviewers have not understood that this only works on photos taken in portrait mode on iPhones that are capable of doing that. If you have Portrait mode photo’s though this is really neat and is a interesting insight into where “computational photography” is taking us. To be able to edit the 3D lighting of an image after it was taken (this is not a filter, or effect, it is using the depth data provided by Portrait mode to alter the image in a 3D way) is something that was not even thought of back in the days of my original 35mm SLR! As you drag a light source around you can literally see it impact of it on the face in the image for example, and you can impact the background of the image, removing it, adding fog etc. The help mode is nice too and get’s you started. There seems to be a lot in here, and I have only just started playing with it..Version: 2.1.4

AmazingI wish I could attach photos to this review, but you’ll have to trust my opinion that this app was well worth the purchase. If people are having any problems, it’s probably an issue with their phone or a glitch. The app is working perfectly for me and it’s amazing..Version: 2.2.0

Unique toolUsually don’t review, but this unique tool deserves a chance to develop its niche. It is intended to take advantage of the latest Apple phones. Giving bad reviews because a product isn’t compatible with older platforms is wrong. On my iPhone X this software performs exactly as described. It will take time to learn how to use this in my workflow. Thanks.Version: 1.0.4

Holy Cow!Testing it out and finding it to be pretty darned amazing! Tutorial/walkthrough is excellent and I was able to create something great in minutes. Tons of options and flexibility..Version: 2.2.1

AmazingThis is what portrait mode should have been from the beginning. Adds incredible 3D lighting effects. Would love to see more preset filters to add lighting effects on the go..Version: 1.0.1

Great & Unique appThis is a great and easy to use app. I had several photos of my grandkids and by manipulating the light around their face made a great picture even better. Thanks!.Version: 1.0.2

It works now!Hey, with newest update (2022) I can now pull up all my portrait photos taken with my iPhone and edit the lighting on my iPad. Excellent!.Version: 2.3.4

Amazing control over lightingThis app is the next step in what can be done with photo editing. I love how it works with the 3D mapping provided by the camera, to allow for both subtle and dramatic changes. In reality a very sophisticated tool, considering that we’re working on our phones. That being said, it seems there’s maybe a conflict: the UI/controls don’t allow for ease of use on a phone screen, making it somewhat tedious to make all the small incremental changes this app potentially allows. This app could soar, given the right UI. Think Lightroom and Snapseed (no, they don’t offer what your app does), and how well they function on small screens..Version: 1.0.4

Mostly great.I’ll be brief. Great app, try it! Shame the crash when Sharing on iPad Pro is still not fixed! 🙁.Version: 2.3.4

Extremely annoying that you can’t disable the tutorialSeriously, the apps great. Update: Since the update making it possible to disable tool tips. This app is a must.Version: 1.0.3

Excellent app with an intuitive UIBlown away with my first render created using Apollo. A similar render I created a few months back by painstakingly transforming an images mood by manipulating light and saturation levels with an editing apps brush tool took hours to create. I just created a similar render from another pic from the same shoot, that has its look and feel, not to mention its overall quality, in 20mn!.Version: 1.0.1

Fix the Annoying UI TutorialThis is incredibly impressive and makes having portrait mode worth it. The obtrusive UI tutorial never goes away though. Fix that and this is a five star app..Version: 1.0.1

EasyLooks complicated but after playing with it for a bit, it’s actually really easy to use.Version: 2.2.0

The AirbrusherFinally got to to work after upgrading to the iPhone 11 !! Thanks for helping me out awhile back but nothing worked but I deleted the app twice and followed what others have done and bingo !!! HAPPY CAMPER NOW !!!.Version: 2.3.4

The most impressive photo app I’ve ever seenDe source of light move like if it was there, like a source of light in unreal engine but this is a photo!!!! What!!!!! Amazing. Hopefully one day apple will make you guys the app of the day and you will get some more attention.Version: 2.1.4

An amazing toolReally quick shadows and awesome lighting affects. Keep up the good work. What you pay for is what you get. This app doesn’t have in app purchases like 99.9% of the sellouts on the App Store. Please keep it that way indice. Ilu!.Version: 2.3.0

RevolutionaryFor those who can understand and care about depth and lighting, this is amazing. It’s not Instagram... you have put a bit of time in... which will be worth it. Yes, use portrait mode. Be creative. Post edit in another app. The only issue I have is it seems to negate the death of field bokeh of the original..Version: 2.1.4

Works great with certain types of photos.Yes, you need the right phone model, but amazing results can be yours with portraits with a single point of interest, eyes for example. Love it..Version: 2.1.1

Magnificent companion to iPhone 8 portrait mode.My initial impression was, “why the hell can’t I get to my library” then I read the summary of the app again. It’s a companion app. I personally thought that the iPhone 8, portrait mode, was missing something... your app brilliantly creates perfection! Thanks for the hard work.Version: 1.0.2

Great App! iPhone 8, 8+, and iPhone X, only because it requires the portrait mode.A really amazing after-the-fact lighting tool. Just pretend that you’re in a studio, moving lights around your subject, adjusting beam spread, intensity, and color on each individual light. Even placing lights behind objects. Amazing..Version: 1.0.4

Love itGreat tool and really impressive. Few bits of feedback would be: - let me duplicate a light source. - perhaps allow 3D Touch for depth or brightness to speed up editing. - make exporting back to your photos easier as the share sheet is a bit of a pain for this. - allow the export of an edited picture with its depth information as I would love to pull the Apollo edited picture into focos and add some bokeh! Awesome work..Version: 1.0.4

I only wish....I really like this app... I use it more than I expected to. I only wish that you can use any photos in your library, not just “portrait mode” pictures. 🙁 But it’s still an awesome editing tool. ♥️.Version: 1.0.2

I didn’t read the CAUTION 🤣Read the Info before buying... I bought it thinking it would work on any photo.. I love the app... but I can’t select pictures from the Camera Roll... because it only works on PORTRAIT MODE... it doesn’t work on normal JPEGS.Version: 2.0.0

Powerful, Well DesignedThis app does exactly what it's supposed to do in an exceptional way. The design is well thought out and allows you do complete your editing tasks. I'd appreciate and iPad layout in the future though! There is a bug where if you've edited a photo in another app before opening it in this one, your edits will not be reflected in Apollo. Therefore, if you plan to edit a photo with multiple apps, Apollo will need to be first in your pipeline until the bug is fixed. I will edit this review once the bug has been fixed..Version: 2.3.2

MarvelousWonderful creative utility for working with 3D images. I particularly like how I can relight a scene..Version: 2.3.2

AmazingI was very impressed with my first tries. The only problem was the share button doesn’t work. It just closes the app without saving. The only way I could save my edits was to use the preview and do a screen print..Version: 1.0.1

Pretty cool AppHad issues at first but now it’s fixed the app is detailed on instructions to make it easy to navigate through my photos turned out awesome the app runs smooth never crashes 👍.Version: 1.0.4

Also works on newest iPad Pro with Face ID ...Pictures taken in Portrait Mode with the selfie camera on the 2018 iPad Pro can be edited with this app. Very nice features..Version: 2.3.0

Very interestingAmazing app, and works well with lidar it seems!.Version: 2.3.2

Painting with light the secret weaponThis is amazing that you can play with lightning after the pic is taken and make it so dramatic and create a style. I don’t need a big light kit. I just got an iPhone X and what can be created with the portrait pics is a game changer for social media..Version: 1.0.4

Great App butHow exactly do you place a light source behind a subject?.Version: 2.3.1

Very creative but will not work on iPhone 6Although the App Store says this will work on my phone it does not because it needs depth information. That said the app looks to be one I will use often when I update to a new, duel camera iPhone..Version: 2.0.2

This app is amazingThis lets you add dramatic lighting in realistic ways to photos shot with the iPhone portrait mode. Entertaining, and groundbreaking. Highly recommended! Also, kudos to the developer for having such a great privacy policy! At this version, no data is collected. What a breath of fresh air!.Version: 2.1.4

Hm...Can’t get it to work. It shouldn’t be this difficult to make an iPhone app that works even for the “technically challenged”. Wasted my money here..Version: 2.0.1

Photo selectionI saw this app highlighted (pun?) on Apple. So I paid and downloaded it. Glad I found it! Originally I gave a lower rating, but I am revising my opinion of this app: now that I’ve figured out the mechanics, it’s pretty cool. With up to 20 light sources, in front for behind the subject, opens up a lot of options to highlight subtle aspects of a portrait taken photo. Once I’ve added new light sources and saved, I can move on to other apps for additional processing - if needed. Give it try. Read the App Store instruction- And be patient- it takes a few try’s to get the hang of the type of pic Apollo can process. Good luck!.Version: 1.0.2

Excellent applicationExceptional application. It works like a charm. After using the application for a few minutes I made a hasty judgment and gave a 3 stars rating as it could not process some of my photos taken in portrait mode. I then found out that not all pictures taken in portrait mode have depth of field data. Pictures without the Portrait icon on the top left corner of picture cannot be processed. I also found out that one could have upto 20 light sources which was not so evident at the beginning. With this app you don't need a studio - just amazing!.Version: 1.0.2

WowReally really really cool!!!! Definitely allows for some great effects on pictures taken in portrait mode. A few things I would like to see: 1) long pressing on a button should offer a description of what it does 2) let me make videos? Like I can set a light to move from point A to point B and set travel time, as well as transition from one setting to another (low brightness to high) and that generates a video. Or have multiple lights moving from foreground to background, for example. This would make for some very interesting shots.Version: 2.3.2

Pulls from Portrait ModeTurn off help to get rid of tips. App works well once you figure out how to adjust the lighting using the tools. This app can turn the lights on or off in your portrait-mode photo and everything in between, which will take some self-teaching and observations to figure out. Definitely worth the $1.99..Version: 1.0.2

Amazing BUT........Please check the spec of phone you need BEFORE you purchase. Personally don’t think some people will realise a couple of things: 1. 7+, 8+ as stated in description (Currently) is referring specifically to 7 Plus, 8 Plus. It won’t work on a none Plus model. 2. Portrait ORIENTATION is NOT the same as Portrait MODE - it’s would be easy to assume all photos take in the former ‘should’ be turning up in the App when they won’t. Only if you know how to get the camera into (and take pics in) Portrait MODE will u see your photos in the app. My suggestions would be to change the wording slightly so phone compatibility is clear and put a photo in of how to get camera into Portrait MODE. I suspect this would reduce negative reviews and people yelling at support. So many apps for photography do the same old thing. This one however mixes things up in a whole new unique way and really makes you think about the photos you’ve taken and what you can do to them (and why). And inspire you to go out and take photos specifically to add these effects too. Giving five stars as just so kool (equivalent effects in full blown photoshop type programs are available, but need quite a lot of know how, time and effort, to get what you’ve got here). It’s not perfect, application of effects isn’t via a particularly intuitive system, which may frustrate some, but overall best photo app have come across in a long long time. Thoroughly recommended..Version: 2.1.4

SuggestionI love this app what a beautiful combination of technologies. One wish i have is the ability to replace the background with a green screen or another picture. Basically to be able to use it to allow chromakey effects. Please please pretty please 🙏 🥰.Version: 2.3.2

Very cool and a good startI love apps that can take advantage of the true depth camera. Being able to set a light source behind a subject to create a dark silhouette is extremely cool. Suggestions: - ability to duplicate an existing light source - would like to save working state of photo to pick up later or duplicate.Version: 1.0.1

Works well, just not in monoThe app is very well done and worth the buy. I only wished that it would work with mono. I take a lot of pictures in black and white, however if you open a mono portrait in the app it changes back to color..Version: 1.0.4

Wow! The future is hereIf you want to see where photography is heading, look at this app. They’ve done something that hasn’t been done before outside of high-powered 3D architectural renders. Just snap a portrait mode photo and re-light it. Lots of scope to improve it (I’d love to be able to control the size/softness of a light source, and choose how shiny/Matt surfaces are), so it’s not going to replace any of my professional commercial photography YET. But it’s only version 1, and worth it purely as a jaw-dropping glimpse of the future. Commercial photographers will lose a lot of business to a future version of this app..Version: 1.0.4

Works wellCapable of enhancing otherwise dull portrait photographs. It works best with portraits that have fairly flat frontal lighting, otherwise you may be just fighting against the natural lighting. It would be helpful to be able to also blur the background, although this can be achieved by processing the saved result in a separate app (the depth information seems to be retained). An option to apply a colour tint to the background could also be useful..Version: 1.0.2

The shape of things to comeSheds light on the future of computational photography. For the price, I would just get it and explore how to play with light sources post-shot. Like Portrait Mode in the built-in Camera app, the conditions have to be right for it to work well. If your picture has strong or blown highlights, they will remain in the processed output. Best to take an evenly-lit shot. Start with something flat, and add light to it with this app..Version: 1.0.2

Great app, but please people: know your phone!First off, this is a phenomenal app. The creativity it unlocks on your dual-camera phone is nothing short of incredible. But folks, you gotta know what phone you have BEFORE you purchase this app! It states very clearly that it’s ONLY for the iPhone 7+, 8+ and X. If you don’t have one of those phones, it’s useless to you. So quit whining and learn to read BEFORE you purchase something!.Version: 1.0.3

Genius!!I. Love. This. App. It’s like the Stage Lighting feature in Portrait Mode on steroids. For an app that’s been out for a mere week (at the time I purchased it), INDICE has done a great job not only coming up with the idea of Apollo, but, also, making it work. There will be improvement updates I’m sure, but for a new app, it’s a pretty good start. I’ve seen many times when folks have purchased apps and they aren’t compatible with their devices and this will be no exception, I’m sure. Make sure you look at the compatibility list before you buy this app. Apollo requires the image to contain depth information, so photos taken in Portrait Mode on the iPhone 7 Plus, 8 Plus, and X will work, plus photos taken in other camera apps that shoot depth information could work too. Halide and Focos do this. It would be nice to see, someday, camera integration in Apollo, but if that’s not in the interest of INDICE, that’s ok. The adjustments we can make in Apollo to the lighting of a depth image are amazing. With the distance slider you can even position a light behind a subject to mimic a hair light that you would find in a professional portrait. I encourage you, if you purchase Apollo, to play around with it and get to know what the adjustments do. The output files are the same resolution as the originals, but the file sizes are roughly 1/3 of the original size, so there is some compression, but everyone is looking to save space on their iPhone, right?.Version: 1.0.2

Needs custom masksVery cool working tech demo. Lighting a photo after taking it is very good use of portrait mode photos. But it badly needs the option to import custom masks..Version: 2.3.2

The possibilities are obvious and incredibleThis app has blown be away. the depth api of portrait mode on my iphone X has been relatively wasted until now. moving a light source behind each depth point (and realizing how many there are!) in a portrait photo is so cool. essentially, i can do lighting effects in post by placing lights anywhere the depth api reads a depth object. (it’s easier to show than explain). so for future updates, here is my wishlist: •pause a project (need to be able to come back to something) •wider spread to cover a larger area (much larger) •separate colors from warm/cool white light (ala color philips hue bulbs) •blend close by depth objects (would make the halo effect require fewer light sources).Version: 1.0.2
